Artist: LA COFRADIA DE LA FLOR SOLAR Title: La Cofradia de la Flor Solar Format: CD Label: World Psychedelia Country: Worlds Leading Terrorist State Price: $17.50 |
| "Named after a student artistic community 50 km south of Buenos Aires, The Brotherhood Of The Solar Flower was originally formed in 1968 by three of the musically inclined participants. After a compilation appearance and RCA/Vik 7" their only LP, produced by Billy Bond, was finally released in 1971 on the Microfon label. With fourth member Kubero Diaz on lead guitar, the group created a slightly-stoned mix of acoustic/electric fuzz guitars and phased vocals, and the album went on to become one of the most highly-regarded Argentinian rock LPs, alongside releases by Almendra, Vox Dei, etc." |

Artist: LA LA VASQUEZ Title: Hello Format: 7" Label: Captured Tracks Country: USA Price: $5.50 |
| "Get on the party train with La La Vasquez. After playing their first show at Upset The Rhythms Yes Way last year theyve run riot in in sweaty rooms up [and sometimes down] the UK matching laid-back vocal harmonies with wicked shouts. Now theyre moving on from their savage days with a melodic set of fuzzy jams that are a must hear in 2010. Au Pairs, Young Marble Giants, Bikini Kill, K Records... whatever, they love that stuff but theyre on their own track." - Captured Tracks. |

Artist: LA OTRACINA Title: Blood Moon Riders Format: LP Label: Holy Mountain Country: USA Price: $14.00 |
| "Dont be fooled by the King Diamond-style logo. This liberation of inverted progressive surf rock from psychedelic epithets plays like a fan-fiction account of Dick Dales meeting with Sonny Sharrock at Amon Dueuel IIs rehearsal space to discuss the "post-rock" epidemic. Unlike so many other instrumental soundtrack bands who employ ho-hum, choose-your-own-adventure tactics, LA OTRACINA sticks to the rails of their own twisting corkscrews and spine-snapping dives. This work does not lend itself to the standard-fare apathy of background music. Blood Moon Raiders is its own ride, with its own ticket, and the doors are locked after take-off. Pinch some headphones to your dome and situate the rest of your form into a beanbag as you navigate the fibrous landscape of a black-light poster. The tracks flow from a subtle new-age contingency to violent bouts with Laotian street gangs. Remember to pack a sack lunch and strap on a machete before mounting this electric buck-bot. Dont fret-the intention has always been to crack open your skull or drown you. Includes a free MP3 download." -Holy Mountain |

Artist: LA OTRACINA Title: Crystal Wizards of the Cosmic Weird Format: CDR Label: Sky-Fi Country: USA Price: $12.00 |
| "It all began with some kind of roadhouse kosmische showdown scene on some rickety lunar bar, with all kinds of fucked up looking creatures, with scales or tails and multiple eyes and all that, all lookin grimey, just making a stop on their way to proxima centauri, coming down off a fistful of Benzedrine, tired and disgruntled, chainsmoking and drinking neon green booze, spurs on their space boots and all that. You know, cacophony.... and then some jiving band of lizards was taking the stage and laying down a sick cosmic sludge, from a skronk ruckus, into the depths of some eerie zero gravity subconscious neu transmutations, to some sonification of sun ra s nightmares. - Sky-Fi.Adam Kriney from Owl Xounds. Previous release on Holy Mountain. |

|
Artist: LA OTRACINA Title: The Risk Of Gravitation Format: CDR Label: Colour Sounds Country: USA Price: $8.00 |
| The Risk Of Gravitation is the stunning new Summer 08 Tour mini-album by Brooklyns LA OTRACINA, who have long wandered and forged sounds in the hidden lands of heavy psychedelia and progressive space music. This 7 track 32+ minute excursion is a major paradigm shift for the group as drummer Adam Kriney is now on vocal duties as well, adding yet another layer of epic intensity to the swirling chaos of Evan Sobels Fender Bass VI low-end destruction and new guitarist Philippe Ortanezs ecstatically angular bliss-out. This disc shifts between tracks of classic LA OTRACINA free-form freakout brilliance and their current vocal-heavy jams, which put the progressive psych back into early heavy metal while exploring realms of dark doom-sludge thunder and the graceful complexity of early Canterbury jazz-rock. Refusing to be quantified, it is clear that LA OTRACINA remain in an orbit of their own, seeking out the cosmic weird and channeling it through hard rock power! First press limited edition of 100 numbered copies." - Colour Sounds Recordings |

Artist: LA OTRACINA Title: Tonal Eclipse of the One Format: CD Label: Holy Mountain Country: USA Price: $15.50 |
| "La Otracina was formed in Brooklyn, NY, in the summer of 2003 by drummer Adam Kriney and guitarist Joshua Anzano (now of Tee Pee Records Titan) to penetrate the deepest and most surreal realms of psychedelia, prog, and Krautrock, with an emphasis on exploration. Taking heavy nods from psychedelic forefathers (Flower Travelin Band, Guru Guru, King Crimson, Neu!, Yes, Agitation Free, Blue Cheer, Amon Duul, etc.), their music is also rooted in a deep understanding and appreciation of free jazz/improvisation and the wizardry of minimalism - not to mention the extreme sounds of the Japanese underground. La Otracinas brew of cosmic music is a ride across the galaxy, a slice of magical lemon wedges, a rainbow of crystallized comet dust. La Otracina is Adam Kriney on drums, Ninni Morgia on electric guitar, and Jordon Schranz on electric bass. KindaMusik listed La Otracinas Love Love Love 2 CD as one of the top 20 best psychedelic albums of the new millennium, along with releases by Six Organs of Admittance, Bardo Pond, Ghost, and Tower Recordings." - Holy Mountain |

Artist: LA OTRACINA Title: Woven Wanderers Format: CDR Label: Colour Sounds Country: USA Price: $8.00 |
| "BRAND NEW STUDIO ALBUM! Yes, these sonic spacemen have just finished yet another studio album, this one channeling yet even newer ideas into their boundless sphere of psychedelic transmissions! Quite different from their current "space-metal" live show, this new studio album swirls between worlds of loner cosmic psych-folk meditations, 70s european electronic-progressive space music (i.e. - HELDON/TANGERINE DREAM/CLUSTER/SPACECRAFT/PULSAR), overblown freak-rock improvisation and heavy-dark-brooding New Music-meets-Industrial sound-collage mind warp! 9 songs, 35 minutes, professionally printed CD-Rs and full color inserts, 1st edition of 100!" - Colour Sounds. |

Artist: LA VAMPIRES & ZOLA JESUS Title: LA Vampires Meets Zola Jesus Format: LP Label: Not Not Fun Country: USA Price: $15.00 |
| "Virtual reality trans-time zone collab between So-Cal sample sister LA Vampires and Madison, WI (though soon to be LA!) neo-Siouxsie Zola Jesus. Despite the distance the respective vibes vibe beautifully. Cold dub rhythms echo down grimy corridors while heartbroken tag-team femme howls come bleeding out of the horizon drenched in spectral delay. Theres a few bangers (Bone Is Bloodstone, Looking In), a few ballads (In The Desert, Vous), and a couple quasi-covers (Searching, No No No), so every mood is given its due. Local photographer (and drummer) extraordinaire Caitlin C. Mitchell even lays down some smoky trumpet on one track. Additional deep space Moog and production duties were handled by City Terrace studio wizard M. Geddes Gengras. A dark, gleaming gem of a 12", and cool step sideways for both artists. 45 RPM black vinyl LPs in disco-hole sleeves with artwork and layout by Manda Beth Brown. Edition of 600." -Not Not Fun |

Artist: LABELLE, BRANDON Title: Automatic Radio Format: CD Label: Fringes Country: ITALY Price: $15.00 |
| "This new Cd by Brandon Labelle includes three new compositions: "Speaking in Tongues": Conflating "human speech" with "animal speech"--a mimicry that draws thetongue outside "idiolectical" usage (to speak as a good boy should)--language and the body become part of the same mechanism of conveying a message; though in turn, this conflation emphasizes the schism that ruptures this process--the tension inherent in "speaking as a body (sensuality)" and "speaking as an individual (social behavior)". "Multitude-Solitude": This work was commissioned by Kunstradio and was produced during a 3-daystay in Vienna in August 2000. In response to the invitation to make a work for radio I decided to produce all the sound-materials while in Vienna, drawing upon a direct relationship to the city and my experience there. This process consisted of primarily two activities: firstly, amplifying pre-recorded sounds of "crowds" from various events and functions in public spaces in Vienna, and re-recording them--in essence, overlaying public spaces and public crowds on top of each other and highlighting the "multiplicity" of overheard voices, and through this, how language becomes abstracted when it is situated against public space; secondly, taking a series of walks around Vienna with contact microphones taped to the bottoms of my shoes. What resulted from these walks was a kind of sonic residue of the meeting between body and space, between private experience and public environment, underscoring how as an individual one is always part of a greater situation." "Pillow Talking"(in collaboration with l. chasse): This work was produced as a parallel performance to a concert by John Hudak at 7hz, San Francisco, September 2000. The parallel performance occurred through recording Hudaks own performance by placing contact microphones on a glass floor from a mezzanine within the performance space. In addition, a second contact microphone was mounted on a metal cooking funnel which I then placed inside my mouth. In essence, the final work is a combination of Hudaks performance and the subsequent "translation" of it as recorded through the microphones. This "translation" is in turn mediated through the architectural structure of the performance space, the metal funnel and through the cavity of my mouth. Edition of 500 copies in oversized cardoboard folder, with a color photo by Renato Rinaldi. Includes the text "Automatic Radio" by Brandon Labelle." - Fringes. |

Artist: LABREQUE, PAUL & VALERIE WEBB Title: Trees, Chants and Hollers Format: LP Label: Eclipse Country: USA Price: $15.00 |
| "Duo weaves a cautious, dreamy folk spell, reminiscent of the vocal impressionism and effected acoustic sonics of Charalambides, beautiful stuff charged with a sense of desperation and love lingering on the edge of loss. Ties to Sunburned Hand of the Man and other Boston area ensembles, like Bright." - Lee Jackson. |

Artist: LAMBKIN, GRAHAM Title: Dumb Answer To Miracles Format: Hardcover Book/CD Label: Penultimate Press Country: UK Price: $38.00 |
| "Limited edition book - 250 copies. The first 100 are hardcover, signed, numbered with cd attached. The remaining 150 are hardcover, numbered with cd. Cover Illustration Graham Lambkin." "Dumb Answer to Miracles is the first official publication of writings by Graham Lambkin. Previously 20 copies of a signed private edition entitled Tomb of Speed were circulated amongst friends, collegues and mail order customers. This collection gathers all the Tomb of Speed writings, a handful of Lambkins lyrics he wrote for the band Shadow Ring and many unpublished works. These writings entertain as much as they baffle, happily wandering the glorious pastures of open bewilderment. The ordinary dons the fantastic, the uncanny flirts with the comical and a private world is open to those with an explorative constitution. What response can one gain from such writings? Its this uncomfortable familiarity or comforting unease that haunts the entire oeuvre of Graham Lambkin. The beautiful odd. The eldritch normality. The leek in milk sauce." - Penultimate Press. |

Recorded and mixed in upstate New York over a two year period, and aided by the talents of Samara Lubelski -violin, and Austin Argentieri -acoustic guitar. Mastered by Jason Lescalleet at Glistening Labs. Comes housed in an elegant 4 panel digipak." -KYE |

Artist: LAMBKIN, GRAHAM & JASON LESCALLEET Title: The Breadwinner Format: CD Label: Erstwhile Country: USA Price: $13.50 |
| "Graham Lambkin and Jason Lescalleet are both highly respected artists, with small but intensely hardcore followings. Since 2001, theyve been gradually moving closer towards realizing a collaborative project, and The Breadwinner is the results of two years of recording, reworking and polishing. Lambkin first entered the public consciousness at 19 when he formed his band The Shadow Ring, in Folkestone, a small town in Kent, England. The band was memorable and built an rabidly passionate fan base because of its sui generis approach, blending elements of folk, noise, cracked electronics, and surrealist poetry, while radically changing the overall formula with each release. A decade of increasingly skewed and inspired work culminated in 2003s Im Some Songs, constructed long distance as Lambkin had relocated to the US in 1998. Over the last few years, Lambkin has primarily worked under his own name, most notably with 2007s brilliant Salmon Run, a precursor to The Breadwinner. Lescalleet has gradually and painstakingly built a compelling discography over the past decade. He uses reel-to-reel tape decks to explore the textures of low fidelity analog sounds and the natural phenomena of old tape and obsolete technology. He is one of a growing list of master producer/musicians, whose skill lies as much in reworking, assembling and mastering the material available as in creating it (or helping create it) in the first place. He has worked with such wide-ranging artists as Ron Lessard, Joe Colley and Phill Niblock, and has released a string of superb solo discs in Mattresslessness (Cut), Electronic Music (RRR) and The Pilgrim (Glistening Examples). This is his second release for Erstwhile, after 2001s Forlorn Green (w/Greg Kelley), and his third is already in preparation, a duo with Bhob Rainey, planned for release in early 2009. The material for The Breadwinner was recorded at Lambkins house in upstate NY, over two recording sessions. The duo treated the entire building and its surrounding grounds as a studio, welcoming in outside sounds, which were later kept or eliminated as they felt appropriate. The subtitle on the front cover is musical settings for common environments and domestic situations, layering numerous submerged fragments to find beauty in everyday life." -Erstwhile |

The motion paintings are abstract videos of colourful and impossible organic processes. Beautiful to look at and superbly complimented by the soundtrack. All camera shot. No annoying digital effects. I cant say I have ever seen anything quite like Motion Paintings rare beauty. Outstanding work." - Swill Radio. Graham Lambkin = 1/3 of The Shadow RIng. |

| "Bombed out basement brutality from three midwest dwellers. It would be a copout to merely mention a certain feline/feminine privates named band, so instead lets say theyve soaked a Nervous Breakdown 7" in stale bongwater and let it rip. Blown out guitar heat threatens to smoke out punked percussion. Heavy meanderings seem to signal some sort of blood speckled truce by the end of second side. Artist: LAMPS Title: Niels Bohr Was An Excellent Ping Pong Player Format: 7" Label: Dull Knife Country: USA Price: $6.00 |
| "You know THE LAMPS from their fines releases on In The Red Records. Fans have been waiting a while for these two favorites to be released. "Niels Bohr" has to be considered one of, if not the best song yet from the Los Angeles trio. Its guitar riff jackhammers into your brain before giving way to a deadpan chorus that is catchy as hell. The flip side, "Ive Been on a Lot of Camels," is a killer noisy number in the Amp Rep tradition, and is the perfect foil to the A-side. In fact, lets just call this a double A-sided 7-inch." -Dull Knife |

Artist: LAS MALAS AMISTADES Title: Jardin Interior Format: Triple 7" Label: Honest Jons Country: UK Price: $22.00 |
| "Las Malas Amistades were born in 1994 when several art and film students at Colombias largest public university got together to make an informal, spontaneous, private sort of music, and began writing songs collectively, documenting their sessions on a friends four-track. Their influences included everything from indie rock to Spanish-speaking crooners of the 60s and 70s such as Raphael, José José, and José Luis Rodríguez El Puma, all kinds of tropical music (Joe Arroyo, Willie Colón), and the soundtrack music of Morricone and Michael Nyman, together with ideas learned from the Fluxus artists and the Brazilian Anthropophagist avant-garde. They wanted to change their world while remaining faceless. Their first, self-titled CD has been a favorite at Psych-o-Path ever since its release in 2001, a collection of brilliant pop miniatures in the tradition of Young Marble Giants Colossal Youth. Since then, the members of Las Malas Amistades have scattered throughout the Americas, but they remain good friends and regroup sporadically in their native Bogotá to share their experiences and write and record new music. The eighteen songs on Jardin Interior are the results of their most recent gathering, in March of 2005. Jardín Interior weds minimalist pop with the homespun clatter of The Scene Is Now circa Yellow Sarong, and the four-track experiments of LAFMS and The Residents. Its also a uniquely Colombian record. Like Bogotá, the music is an unlikely combination of happiness and melancholy. The city is high in the mountains of a tropical country, so its cold and warm and sunny and full of beautiful endless clouds; so is the music." - Psych-o-Path. |

Nukkuu is psychedelic, abstract and emotionally captivating. Nukkuu is an album of changes. In the years since her debut album Kuutarha, Laura became a mother, moved to the Finnish countryside and took valuable time to carve out a space for her enchanted art in the new-found tranquility of her remote surroundings. Conceived in tight attics and vacant dens on off-hours when her young son Nuutti was fast asleep, this is an intimately-crafted nine-song collection that unfolds like dreamlike musical ribbons for the senses and delivers the listener to a place of unhurried contentedness."- Locust |

Artist: LAUGHNER, PETER Title: Cinderella Backstreet/White Light White Heat Format: 7" Label: Forced Exposure Country: USA Price: $7.00 |
| "Peter Laughner (August 22, 1952 June 22, 1977) was an American guitarist, songwriter and singer. A native of Cleveland, Ohio, Laughner remains a rather little known figure; nonetheless, Richie Unterberger described him as "probably the single biggest catalyst in the birth of Clevelands alternative rock scene in the mid-70s." He led a variety of groups (including Mr. Charlie, Cinderella Backstreet, Peter & The Wolves, The Blue Drivers and Friction) but his most enduring contributions were to Rocket From The Tombs and the early work of Pere Ubu. In addition to all this, he wrote for Creem magazine. Laughner was a voracious rock fan and writer, and was heavily influenced by Lester Bangss writings. Like Bangs, Laughner worshipped Lou Reed, but also drew inspiration from folk and blues figures such as Robert Johnson and Woody Guthrie. He was a unique, visceral lead guitarist, influenced by Richard Thompson, and was briefly considered as a replacement for Richard Lloyd in Television , a band whom he championed from their earliest days. Laughner had severe drug and alcohol abuse problems that led to his death by acute pancreatitis in 1977 at the age of 24. Rumors to the effect that Laughner was despondent, even suicidal, at the time of his death have been contradicted by Laughners last known message, written and mailed to Cleveland singer Ruby Port on the evening prior to his death. This letter revealed his intent to move to a retreat in the Ohio countryside, where he could write new music as well as rest and regain his health. Bangs wrote a eulogy for him. Laughners only known entrance into a recording studio was for the Pere Ubu single sessions, though he left behind countless lo-fi live, rehearsal, and demo recordings. In 1994, Tim/Kerr label released Take the Guitar Player for a Ride, a 15 track compilation drawn from these tapes. This compilation has since gone out of print." - Wikipedia. | "This is hot oat! Lauhkeat Lampaat have found new views for their sounds. Artist: LAUHKEAT LAMPAAT Title: Taikaa Takataskussa Format: CD Label: Peippo Country: Finland Price: $18.00 |
| "Once upon a time there was a world famous free jazz band Rauhan Orkesteri. All their instruments and half of the players were taken away, leaving only two peasant brothers and a pile of garbage. They abandoned melody, rhythm and the shine of chrome and started to build from the garbage the Stormy Temple of All Miniatures, which they open for You right now. This is the top peak of Lauhkeat Lampaats work." - Peippo. |

Artist: LAUTEN, ELODIE Title: The Death of Don Juan: An Opera In Two Acts Format: CD Label: Unseen Worlds Country: USA Price: $14.00 |
| "CD debut of this 1985 post-minimal landmark by Elodie Lauten. Lauten has been active in the downtown New York classical and punk scenes since moving from France in the 1970s. The Death of Don Juan is a breakthrough for its lyrical minimalism in combination with drama that actively engages a contemporary emotional experience. Originally self-produced and released as a small LP edition on her own label, it has been touted ever since by Kyle Gann, who adds notes to this edition, and was recently included on one of Alan Lichts Minimal Top Ten lists. Features performances by Arthur Russell and Peter Zummo." - Unseen Worlds |

Artist: LAWSON, JULIET Title: Boo Format: CD Label: Sunbeam Country: UK Price: $16.00 |
| "Released to critical acclaim but low sales in 1972, Juliet Lawsons sole album which originally appeared on EMIs Sovereign label has long been overdue reissue. An eccentric, infectious record that showcases her plaintive vocals and gift for melody, it features support from saxophonist extraordinaire Lol Coxhill as well as members of folk-rock legends Trees Never previously available on CD. Complete with bonus tracks." - Sunbeam. |
|
Artist: LAZARUS Title: The Trickster Format: LP Label: St. Ives Country: USA Price: $14.00 |
| "St. Ives has long been in love with the songs of Trevor Montgomery. Performing as Lazarus, Montgomerys nascent body of work began (after he left new kosmiche group Tarentel) in 2001 with the glorious Songs For An Unborn Sun (Temporary Residence Ltd.). Since then, two additional full-lengths have been released, further illuminating Montgomerys beguiling voice as both singer, arranger and lyricist and having earned him many comparisons to classic heavy bellowers such as Nick Cave and Leonard Cohen. After being commissioned by St. Ives to do a record, he decided to gather some songs together influenced by and referencing his teenage years. According to Montgomery: At the time I was polarized by meth, riding trains, heavy psychedelics, and a love of spending my time in the mountains walking around in the woods. At 14, I tried to sell my soul for the ability to draw the female form in perfection, I skirted death several times, always seeming to be saved at the last minute by some good soul or random occurrence. All and all leading me to believe that the coyotes and crows of the canyons were watching out for me. The Trickster in many forms, laughing and crying. Recorded wherever he could find space, but mostly in a photography studio in Old Town Orange, California owned by his brother. All songs were written, performed and recorded by Lazarus (William Trevor Montgomery). As with all St. Ives records, The Trickster is available in limited edition (300 copies), each with unique hand-made art, done by the artist. Brown-colored vinyl." -St. Ives |

Artist: LAZLAUD, ARNAUD Title: Elan / Le Malade Roi Format: 7" Label: Kernkrach Country: Germany Price: $13.00 |
| "The translucent red record opens with "Le Malade Roi." As soon as the needle touches this 7" sublime synthlines are offered from the speakers. Vocals are contributed by Xavier Paradis, vocals that blend seamlessly with the crisp beats and a solid tempo to produce a track that would warm any club floor. "Le Malade Roi" is a piece that captures the addictive analog sound of quality New Wave, blending some heartbreak lyrics with some pure electro sound. Synthesizers flow onto the flipside with "Elan." A clean and warm drumulator style backing props up some amazing analogue work before vocal slide in. Once more, that addictive and magnetic aspect is there as choice melodies are combined with deep lyrics. The track comes to a close with a fantastic, energy filled synthesizer solo; bringing this lovely New Wave snippet to a close. There can be only one complaint with Arnaud Lazlauds release, it is too short. Two tracks is a tease. These pieces are what New Wave was, and what it can still be; music that calls the listener back again and again. Two tracks are not enough, and more is needed. But, this is hardly an issue to gripe about. This is the height of recommendation and endorsement.... Hardy congratulations to artist and label are deserved, but such quality must be maintained and this can be easier said than done." - Igloo Magazine. Limited edition in "taped bandage" cover. |

Artist: LAZY FARMER Title: Lazy Farmer Format: CD Label: Sunbeam Country: UK Price: $16.00 |
| "This 1975 ultra-rarity was released only in Germany. Featuring the talents of band member and British guitar legend Wizz Jones as well as ex-COB member John Bidwell, its a haunting collection of beautifully-arranged folk standards and original songs, along with a handful of glorious cover versions. This release has been produced with the full collaboration of the band, as originals are now highly sought-after. This is the first chance to hear it without paying hundreds of pounds." -Sunbeam |
|
Artist: LAZY SMOKE Title: Corridor Of Faces Format: LP Label: Jackpot Country: USA Price: $20.00 |
| "In a genre built on obscured and unsung genius, Corridor Of Faces transcends and stands out as a true psyche masterpiece. Rising above any number of recently unearthed late-60s anglo-pop platters, the sole offering from small town Massachusetts phenomenon Lazy Smoke is a cohesive, solid, classic album in every sense. Ten songs that weave into one-another, painting some beautifully drifty sonic picture as they go. The first remarkable trait of Lazy Smokes sound is the lead vocals uncanny similarity to John Lennon. If that likeness was the whole story, we would have a Beatles sound-alike on our hands, and that would be that. Upon digging just a little deeper below the surface, we instead find a darker tone and a patient, eerie and almost shut-in feeling resonating through the songs. While bands like The Beatles and The Left Banke were singing about love, lament and hallucinated travel experiences, the songs on Corridor Of Faces get sincerely dark right away. Even the seemingly-light teenage love-themed Sarah Saturday shares an undercurrent of on-the-edge uncertainty and dread. Its this undercurrent that calls to mind comparisons to Forever Changes-era Love and the more damaged end of the pop spectrum. Originally privately pressed in MA in an edition of only 500 copies in 1968. Features original cover art, printed inner sleeve with rare photos and band history." -Jackpot. |

Artist: LCDD Title: s/t Format: LP Label: Bimbo Tower Country: France Price: $18.00 |
| "Not so long ago Olaf Ladousse (visual artist doing his D.I.Y. graphzines QUE SUERTE! And collabrating to silkscreen editor Le Dernier Cri) started to build circuit-bended toys that he called doorags in a tribute to an amazing US Arizona duo. To spread the good news around the globe LCDD ("Los Caballos De Düsseldorf" = The Düsseldorf Horses), was formed by 4 musicians who usually play in the Spanish punk scene. LCDD is an improvisation collectiv, a scenic platform, an open band. There is no fix line-up. Anyone willing to play the doorags are wellcome! This is the 2º Lp from LCDD. Its totally improvised. Doorags are directly plugged in the mixer and then you start to hear the accelerated toys cacophony improvising towards a hypothetical trackThe perfect soundtrack of a crazy bedroom full of demented broken toys going insane!! On this record (limited 300 copies), along with the four original members, joined Potro Oscilante (Poulin Oscillant) with his theremin on the track "Clop Clop Hum" and Fela Borbone (Ulan Bator Trio) with his Mierdofon on the track "Mierdofon" - Bimbo Tower |

Artist: LE DOIGT DE GALILEE Title: Object 5 Format: CD Label: Locust Country: USA Price: $14.50 |
| "The slowly developing collaboration between Nicolas Field on drums & percussion & Jaime Fennelly (PSI) on electronics & bass drum cross several thresholds without ever losing a sense of cohesion. At times, subdued electronic sounds fizzle, evaporate & growl over a bed of undulating bass. At others, the magical meeting takes the form of a squeaky, scattershot percussion summit. Volume 5 of the Object series." - Locust |
|
Artist: LE SANG SONG Title: Le Sang Song LP Format: LP Label: Dragnet Country: USA Price: $15.00 |
| "If youve been following underground music of Seattle, you might have already heard music by CRAIG CHAMBERS before. If you havent, you will now. Chambers is the creative force behind LE SANG SONG, the name for what originated as a solo recording project for songs that for the most part are quieter than those of his other excellent bands (THE LIGHTS, LOVE TAN). Le Sang Songs basic framework is simple: get a good rhythm going, a rolling bass line or laconic guitar strum, paint the corners with more rhythms and harmonies. The result is the same kind of late night living room vibe that I get from listening to heavies like Syd Barrett or Skip Spence. While Chambers draws from folk styles, he pushes his songwriting and varies Le Sang Songs instrumentation to include violin, thumb piano, and other noise makers. Chambers is also an excellent lyricist, something uncommon these days, when vapidity is standard fare. The lyrics are carried by a keen sense of vocal melody. Recorded in 2007, the album sat neglected. Determined to give Le Sang Song the audience it deserves, I dusted off Dragnet Records and decided to put it out myself. Live performances of Le Sang Song are Chambers accompanied by his lovely wife ADRIA GARCIA on guitar/vocals, MATTHEW FORD (Love Tan, FACTUMS, YVES SON ACE) on drums/percussion, a yours truly, MIN YEE (A FRAMES, AFCGT) on bass/vocals."-Min Yee. Edition of 660 copies. |

Artist: LE STELLE DI MARIO SCHIFANO Title: Dedicato A Format: CD Label: Akarma Country: Italy Price: $11.50 |

Artist: LE TON MITE Title: We Need to Grow to Giant Size Format: CD Label: Yik Yak Country: USA Price: $10.00 |
| "Baptized in the flames of the music world as openers for the likes of Deerhoof, Maher Shalal Hash Baz, and Calvin Johnson, Le Ton Mites "off hand influences simmer amid a mire of Morse-code tones resulting in the spirit of the guitar being thrown to the ground if not the actual instrument itself" (LA Weekly). Based in Olympia, Washington, Le Ton Mite takes its cues from broken folk to reinvent the wheels of rock. The trio of vocalists, duo of guitars and solo keyboard play songs based on group improvization and the boiled down compositions of ringleader McCloud Zicmuse. "We Need to Grow to Giant Size" documents the seed from which the band has indeed grown. This recording is a limited edition of 500 numbered copies in handmade letterpressed packaging designed and printed by Zicmuse." - Yik Yak. |

Artist: LEARY, TIMOTHY Title: The Psychedelic Experience: A Manual Based On The Tibetan Book Of The Dead Format: CD Label: Locust Country: USA Price: $14.50 |
| "The readings presented here can best be regarded as radio-signals sent out from a satellite tracking station to the explorers floating freely through space. The instructions can be attended to or ignored but at least they provide a kind of basic signal around which the voyager can orient his explorations. We dedicate this recording to the the many men and women whose accounts and reports of their explorations in the interior universe have helped us prepare these maps. -- Timothy Leary and Ralph Metzner. The Psychedelic Experience is a rare, early document of the emergent hippie era issued in 1966 on Moe Aschs Broadside records. Join the legendary father of LSD with Ralph Metzner & Richard Alpert (aka Ram Das) as they indulge in the fruits of their research. Two extended tracks of spoken meditations accompanied by occasional Tibetan Bell: Going Out and Coming Back naturally line this journey. Features archival photos, 12 pages of original notes and remastered sound." - Locust |

Artist: LEBEDUNG Title: Live In Opera Format: CDR Label: Slippy Town Country: USA Price: $9.00 |
| "Great post-prog Czech band recorded live in 1999. They work out on Crimson/Zappa/Beefheart-like rhythmic complexities with raw punkoidal energy and improvised room to move. Its all very Czech-sounding (think Plastic People and DG 307), but for some unknown reason, the lyrics are in French. Fans of early Pere Ubu and Birthday Party should dig. Edition of 100." -Slippy Town. |

Artist: LEBRECHT, NATALIE ROSE Title: Rrrrrr/Drrrrrr Format: Lathe Cut 7" Label: Abaton Book Company Country: USA Price: $12.50 |
| "Greenpot Bluepot is the musical persona of NYC based artist Natalie LeBrecht. Devoted to studies in sound, texture and emotion, Miss Bluepot creates an intriguing sphere of her own in her artwork, somehow preserving a fantastic sense of humor within the process...Fans of Meredith Monk, early Smog, maybe even Patty Waters should take note of her sometimes unnervingly candid moments of word and sound..." - JoAnn Colagiacomi. |
|
Artist: LED ER EST Title: Dust On Common Format: LP Label: Wierd Country: USA Price: $13.00 |
| "Wierd is proud to present the debut LP by Led Er Est Dust on Common. This the bands first full-length release shows the three piece clearly breaking out of the Wierd minimal synth underground they have been a vitally integral part of since its inception in Brooklyn to create an undeniably contemporary set of highly crafted and restrained, icily psychedelic pop songs. Synthesizing countless disparate musical influences from first wave British industrial music to house, disco, and the largely unknown cold wave (aka La Vague Froide) tradition in Northern Europe, the 9 killer trax on Dust fly by, straight out of the frozen hot, lonely cold plains of vocalist Samuel Kklovenhoofs native central Texas. After digesting a few songs of this rich dust, the listener can do no other than lie down in the wild wierd Laredo bunker to revel in the refreshingly brisk blast of hedonistic analogue pleasure dancing through the airwaves in the sky above...Ladies and gentlemen, presenting Led Er Est!" -Wierd |

Artist: LED ER EST/ ANCIEN REGIME Title: Split Format: 12" Label: Mannequin Country: USA Price: $15.00 |
| "Mannequin had a dream and it has come true, a split vinyl between Led Er Est (New York, US) and Ancien Régime (Rome, Italy). Led Er Est hailing from Brooklyn are one of the leaders of the new cold wave and minimal synth scene, signed to scene leaders Wierd Records and recently released their ‘Dust On Common album which could have quite happily been released on Mute in 1979 alongside Fad Gadget and The Normal. Cheap drum machines and synths hammer away relentlessly forming a post-industrial soundscape for sombre yet emotive vocals. Ancien Régime hailing from Rome, moving closer to the spirit of the 80s new wave, the bands sound incorporates influences from 80s dark wave music and modern indie-alternative rock. For the 12 Split the 4 tracks were produced by Alessandro Adriani with a full analog synths and drum machines setup at Mannequin studio. " -Mannequin. |

|
Artist: LEGENDARY STARDUST COWBOY, THE Title: Paralyzed!: His Vintage Recordings 1968-1981 Format: CD Label: EM Country: Japan Price: $21.00 |
| "Killer presentation of the earliest recordings of this Texas hero, including all 4 of this singles for the Mercury label, cut in the late 60s. Plus unreleased tracks and the 1984 album, Rock-it To Stardum. Typically great EM Recors booklet with old photos and lyrics, etc." - FE. "It might be the weirdest piece of music ever committed to tape in Fort Worth. On Paralyzed, an explosion of madness recorded at Sound City Studios on Camp Bowie Boulevard in 1968, the Legendary Stardust Cowboy thrashes away at a single guitar chord over a rudimentary two-beat, tunelessly bellowing indecipherable lyrics and whooping like an Indian in an old western movie. In the middle of the song, theres a drum solo that sounds like someone dropping trash cans down a flight of stairs, followed by a blatting bugle. The pandemonium starts up again only to subside, like the end of an epileptic seizure. Hearing the song for the first time is disorienting, to say the least. Its impact is both hilarious and primal. Norman Carl Odam is an unlikely musical hero. Thats the name the Leges parents gave him when he was born, in Lubbock in 1947. But since high school, hes called himself the Legendary Stardust Cowboy. He has an extremely limited vocal range, has trouble singing in time, and can barely play his instruments. Yet, some surprising people like him. Chameleon-like British rocker David Bowie based his Ziggy Stardust character on the Lege after receiving a copy of Paralyzed from Mercury Records upon signing with the label in 1968." - EM. |

A progressive mix began on a blank disc, using surgical material connected to a contact microphone. Handmade embossing cover. Handmade dissection of each record on the side A. Every piece is unique." - Artkillart. |

|
Artist: LENS CLEANER TRIO Title: CD + Lenscleaner Format: LP Label: Ceiling Country: ARGENTINA Price: $15.00 |
| "This LP started out as a recording of an improvised by Jose Marchi (guitar), Marcelo Aguirre (drums). and C.D. (electronics). After which C.D. took the recordings disassembled them and constructed new sound shapes from the various pieces. C.D. calls the resultant sound "electro-acoustic rock". Early tracks on side A are faithful to the original recordings; strange polymorphous jams featuring nimble but muscular drumming, and a large vocabulary of guitar scrapes and molten distortion. But soon we start to hear the tracks fold into themselves, the sense of time and space distorting as if some powerful psychotropic drug is starting to kick in. Emerging from these folds in space, the listener enters new locations; guitars that echo like chimes through radio static into places both soothing and menacing, organic and manufactured- a deeply ambient space, yet jagged as broken glass." - The Ceiling. |

Artist: LES CLUB DES CHATS Title: Yes Madame! Format: 7" Label: S-S Country: USA Price: $5.50 |
| "Raise Afred Jarry from the dead in order to front a band and Ill talk LE CLUB DES CHATS into backing him up. Why? Because no one makes absurdist romp like this Parisian trio. If you got their mad debut 7-inch, you know what I mean. If you dug their tune on Tete de Bebe, then you got a taste. Here is another dose. Seven great, compact songs, nothing like anything S-S has put out before, but fitting sniggly in this eclectic mix of bands weve got going here. Want to twist your brain around something while you shake your head in joyous amazement? Four dollars will do it for you. Some of Miaou-Miaou. A tad of Minie." - S-S Records. |

| Live Shizuoka, Stupa, 1974. |
|
Artist: LES RALLIZES DENUDES Title: Blind Baby Has Its Mothers Eyes Format: CD Label: Phoenix Country: UK Price: $18.00 |
| "Legendary Japanese rock outfit Les Rallizes Denudés were formed in 1967 and incredibly, for a group that had only one official release (Oz Days Live, a double vinyl compilation release in 1973), played their last gig almost 30 years later in October 1996. The bands name apparently means "fucked up and naked," which more than adequately describes their music. Formed by band leader Mizutani Takashi, the music remained remarkably familiar over the years, and is best described as high volume, raw, lo-fi, repetitive, feedback-drenched guitar-noise fests with nods in the direction of The Velvet Underground and Blues Creation, but without the electronics. Radical left-wing politics were never far from the bands agenda, with one original band member (Wakabayashi) being involved in the Japanese Red Armys hijacking of a flight to North Korea. Consequently, the groups live appearances became less frequent and increasingly clandestine. All the bands albums were released in very small quantities, and because of the groups reputation for secrecy and violence, as well as the difficulty in tracking down their recordings, Les Rallizes Denudés has assumed almost mythical status. Blind Baby Has Its Mothers Eyes sits at #11 on Julian Copes list of top Japanese albums. Limited edition of 1,000 numbered copies only, housed in a unique LP-replica card wallet." -Phoenix |

Artist: LES RALLIZES DENUDES Title: Le 12 Mars 1977 A Tachikawa Format: Double CD Label: Over Level Country: Europe Price: $26.00 |
| "..double CD release in fine packaging of what are considered the best recordings of the most obscure group from Japan (if not the world); a lengthy band history follows, but here is the short version?Japanese radicals make big noise and put out very few records (in small batches), which makes them legends and makes the records very very expensive; the Live 77 is a document of extreme feedback and distressed guitar with Mizutanis detached vocals laid over languid rhythms-unbelivable in intensity, outpowering Fushitsusha as Japans ultimate rock band; some might call them the ego to the Taj Mahal Travellers id, while others would see in them the legitimate origin of the Acid Mothers Temple and all other Kawabata or Haino infused collective music of Japans recent past." - Over Level. |

| "AKA Flightless Bird Needs Water Wings. The beginners guide to Les Rallizes Denudes! Now available everywhere in the free world!" "Seemingly endless sonic flame-throwers of phased white noise streak across your inner landscape, as stupidly loud and overly-backlit lead guitar emissions perpetrated by a perpetually be-shaded longhair pummel the similarly be-shaded but barely adequate musical backing that sags and creaks under the wattage. Occasionally, lead vocals of a singular variety are provided by said be-shaded mad axeman, whose paranoid personality ensures all songs are delivered in a voice of querulous subterranean gargling from beyond the valley of Alan Vega. My giddy aunt, whats this, then, a Meaty Beaty Big & Bouncy from the Underworld? A rough guide to Japrocks most intuitive non-career movers? Has the worlds most revolutionary rocknroll band released a compilation album of leader Mizutanis most frequently requested tracks due to overwhelming popular demand? Ja, mein hairies, this certainly seems to be the case. For, with the arrival of this superb Flightless Bird compilation, obsessive fans of Les Rallizes Denudés (are there any other kinds?) finally have a proper early career overview of Mizutani & Co. at their fingertips, a 70-minute-long super distillation of this most contrary of bands choicest musical moves executed between 1967-82, a superb sounding and partly/mostly chronological trawl through the freaked out and perpetually-yelping mindscape of singer and avant-avalanche guitarmonger Mizutani, and his sinister-yet-interchangeable pool of black clad world-to-rights acolytes." --Head Heritage |

Artist: LES TEMPS HEUREUX Title: En Ces Jours Format: LP Label: Shadoks Music Country: Germany Price: $43.00 |
| "Numbered edition of 450 copies, heavy sleeve with textured & engraved artwork, 180 gram pressing. "Les Temps Heureux (The Happy Times) made only a tiny demo pressing in 1972, France, under the title En Ces Jours (In Those Days). Acid folk with poetry lyrics, loner vibes, psychedelic guitars, well-crafted songs, six of them in English, two in French. Four guys hanging out night after night to create their first album in a basement studio following their one and only ambition. This album is very special and became instantly one of the real musical surprises for us. It beats most UK albums of the same style. They must have had really happy times in those days, very creative times full of aspiration." - Shadoks. |

Artist: LESBIAN Title: Power Hr Format: CD Label: Holy Mountain Country: USA Price: $14.00 |
| "Yep, the bands name is LESBIAN (members of GOLGOTHAN SUNRISE, ASVA, and THE ABODOX). Why? Well, equally cool names like Black Sabbath, Venom and Pentagram were already taken. But also, the name Lesbian evokes pure, sexually charged freedom-and thats what rock music is all about. But enough about the name, lets talk about the Lesbian sound; its heavy, melodic, dramatic and dynamic. The Seattle-based quartets multifaceted debut album Power Hr heralds the birth of The New Wave of American Psychedelic Metal. Each of the albums four tracks shifts moods, dynamics and styles. In any given song, Lesbian deftly lunges from black metal-style blast-beat-and-16th-note-guitar-lines into 70s styled stoner rock riffing and then leaps into lush melodic passages reminiscent of Godspeed You Black Emperor!. The band blends the best elements of many styles of metal: doom, thrash, black, progressive and, yes, even good old "heavy" metal. Produced by RANDALL DUNN (Sunn O))), Boris, Earth) and packaged with artwork designed by STEPHEN OMALLEY." - Holy Mountain. |

Artist: LESCALEET, JASON Title: Pilgrim Format: Picture Disc LP/CD Label: Glistening Examples Country: USA Price: $36.00 |
| "An audio documentation of this electronics-and-tape artists coming to terms with the death of his father. The LP documents a performance JASON LESCALEET gave after discovering his father had terminal cancer; its floor-rattling flux of abrasive, low tones invokes the purr of a Chevys engine Lescalleets father discusses in a letter reproduced on the record jacket. A snippet of the final conversation he had with his father is buried in a heat-haze of tape hiss and air conditioner hum. The CD further extrapolates on Lescalleets fathers email; its 74 minutes move from dreamlike bell tones, through abraded, metallic hum, escalating into fierce, brutalizing waves of noise which then cut to a recording of Lescalleets daughter singing the Irish folk song "Molly Malone" at her grandfathers request. The book in which the CD is mounted has plenty more text and images. If you arent staggered by The Pilgrim, theres something wrong with you." |

| SOLD OUT!! "Jason Lescalleet has been a monolithic presence in underground culture for nigh on 15 years. Here towers a man who has steadily advanced a music of great focus and originality. A man whose craft is born from that which others pronounce dead. Jason Lescalleet stands at the intersection where musique concrète, power electronics, tape composition and minimalism touch. His is a voice that is heard on the world stage. That is recognized and described. Through his recorded work and in live performance Jason has known the company of such great men as Joe Colley, John Hudak, Phill Niblock and Greg Kelley, to name but few. His art has found publication on such revered imprints as RRR, Erstwhile and his own Glistening Labs. And it is with no small pride that Kye now adds itself to the list. Fantasy and Electricity is Jason at his most forward-facing. A shimmering futuristic stomper pried from the ballrooms of Cologne, whilst Dictophone Music/Organ Music offers two miniature studies, both rich in granular detail. Artist: LEUKERS, ANTONIA Title: Hasenlove Format: Picture Disc LP Label: Dekorder Country: Germany Price: $25.00 |
| ""Hasenlove" is the debut musical release of Hamburg visual artist Antonia Leukers. Shes a founding member of "Institut Hasenbart", a 10-piece artist collective dedicated to a meta-scientific research of hares and related social, zoological and aesthetical phenomena in reference to the art world and pop culture. Leukers has previously created stitched, sewed and animated sculptures while casually growing cucumbers, working for a local in-vitro fertilization hospital and advising young people on erotic issues as a German Dr. Ruth for a popular Online magazine. Inspired by a journey to Island, hearing local travel guides spontaneously interweaving their narrations with sudden outbursts of folklore chanting and an encounter with Wolfgang Müllers (Die Tödliche Doris) strategy of transforming and combining his (pseudo-)scientific, documentary and social research into a musical and artistic performance she started to elaborate her fellow artists lectures with musical renditions. As a passionate DIY home-recording artist she has soldered her own microphones, used cheap toy instruments, gameboys and minidisc recordings of kitchen sounds to create her very own bricolage comic universe. By recycling corny AOR mainstream Rock/Pop songs into some oddly disturbing and wonderfully weird rabbit love songs with newly-made German lyrics and combining these with some truly strange original compositions (ranging from freeform collage to distorted techno to deranged singer/songwriter stuff), she has created a musical love story in 7 parts. Spiritually influenced by (though not really sounding alike) German "Neue Deutsche Welle" artists such as Der Plan and theatrical and surreal performance bands like The Residents her versions of popular love songs sound like a teenage/female Andrew Lloyd Webber on bad acid. This 1-sided vinyl-only picture-disc LP is a strictly limited edtion of 300 copies. Both the gorgeous design and ornamental etching on the b-side have been done by fellow Hasenbart founding member Renate Nikolaus." - Dekorder. |

Artist: LEVENE, BOB & ROB GAWTHROP Title: Turntable Strings Format: Picture Disc LP Label: Automated Noise Ensemble Country: UK Price: $28.00 |
| "Limited edition of 186 picture discs. Originally performed as a live DJ set that produces complex, evolving rhythms and phase patterns all with simplicity of sound in which, no records were used, neither were the needles, in fact the only thing on the turntables are short pieces of string stuck onto the decks with masking tape that strike a transducer on their way round. From this ANE produced a 12 inch picture disc, with the image of the string printed directly onto the vinyl, on one side there is a lock groove where the sound seemingly coincides when the needle goes over the image of the string. The other sides includes tracks from the live performances and two remixes from Team Doyobis Chris Gladwin." -Automated Noise Ensemble |

Artist: LEXIE MOUNTAIN Title: Boys Format: CDR Label: Heresee Country: USA Price: $12.00 |
| "Everything that is good and bad about the things you think, about the sound of your own voice as imagined in the mind of another person, each sound you made alone and some made not for speaking but for blaming. LEXIE MOUNTAIN "Boys" is a minor document of soul noise diva karaoke, collaborative cave-chanteuses rippling with roquefort vibes, and the slippery wet nightgown that is her songsmithy. Now available in seven tracks, thoroughly inconsistent and saucily inelegant, for your unjoyment. LEXIE MOUNTAIN embareasses her private sector and forms of it a gift, a suggestion or a collapsing wig: whichever suits you best." - Heresee. |

Artist: LIEBERMAN, JUSTIN & C. SPENCER YEH Title: Object Lessons Format: Picture Disc LP Label: What The..? Country: USA Price: $24.00 |
| "Object Lessons" and what of this ten-song collaboration between artist Lieberman and Yeh ? Perhaps the influenced musically discussed is somewhere starting between mutual love of various artistic and musical genres certainly -- sound poetry, psychedelic rock, Japanese scum noise, Japanese psychedelic rock, listy lists, but certainly embodies more the present-time sensibilities and whims of both between the two artists to combine for something perhaps neither strictly adhering to any imitation. Perhaps to this record appropriately lets step back to New York artist Justin Liebermans 2009 sculptural and multimedea work "The Correctors Custom Pre-Fab House" -- a description from the debuting gallery follows -- "The Correctors Custom Pre-Fab House is inspired by Robert Venturi and Denise Scott-Browns 1972 book, Learning From Las Vegas, which provides an in depth examination of what they call the decorated shed, a simple structure with elaborate signage. Using the urban sprawl of Las Vegas as an example, they posit this architectural style as a means to enrich the symbolic content of post-modern architecture. The Correctors Custom Pre-Fab House is a steel dwelling covered with a multitude of objects including a 1970s snowmobile, a life sized Jolly Green Giant, foam filled inflatable toys, an illuminated Fedex sign, and a 7 foot shark. Accompanying the house is a sculpture of the Corrector, a character inspired by the fictional figure, Nobusuke Tagomi, from Philip K Dicks novel, The Man in the High Castle. The novel follows Tagomi in a fictional future fifty years after Germany and Japan defeat the Allied forces in World War II. Liebermans interpretation of Taogmi is that of an avid collector of all things pop culture, whose collecting habits extend to the exterior of his home. Within the house, there is a computer equipped with a program that enables the Corrector to archive each object with an informational text about the objects history, which is then projected onto the adjacent wall of the gallery. Created in the style of a Katamari video game, the program features texts on each object taking various forms such as objective accounts, plagiarized product descriptions, aesthetic meditations, poetry, short fiction, satire, and prose. The program is available to play at www.thecorrector.org. These texts were then transformed into the record, Object Lessons, a musical collaboration between Justin Lieberman and C Spencer Yeh. The record is a spoken rendition of select object descriptions that were reworked into an ... musical format." Full-color gatefold jacket, depicting abovementioned objects piled up in a grassy field, and the empty dome waiting for occupancy, and inside special ullistrations for both ten tracks -- with fullcolor picture disc LP showing the Corrector statues head in both sketch and final form. Manufacture stopped around 250 copies." - What The..? |

Artist: LIECHTI, PETER Title: Kick The Habit Format: DVD Label: Drag City Country: USA Price: $16.00 |
| "Kick That Habit is a 1989 film by Peter Liechti, an audio-visual portrait of his native country, eastern Switzerland. The film collects samples from the land-and-soundscape, underscoring in the process the oft-ignored industrial underpinning of our latter-day culture. Also native to eastern Switzerland is Voice Crack, the everyday household electronics duo of Norbert Möslang and Andy Guhl, whose musical workings are explored as part of Liechtis vision. Whether clicking quietly and rhythmically or humming and shrieking at ear-splitting volume, their recycled electronics produce innovative sounds and provide an appropriate accompaniment in this cinematic search for the detritus of our culture, the lost and destroyed remains of the last century of progress. Kick That Habit is a short, tense film comprised of flashing images: footage of Voice Crack rehearsals and concerts is juxtaposed with visual shards of the fall and winter landscape of the area between Alpstein and the Bodensee. Utilizing color and black-and-white footage as well as combining the visual and the acoustic in an expression that subtly synthesizes the two, Liechti delineates a world of existence through sound and geography. Like the world the rest of us live in, its a world of beauty, quiet tragedy and the endless march forward. NTSC, 42 minutes, 4:3, mono, all-region." -Drag City |

Artist: LIECHTI, PETER Title: Signers Suitcase: On the Road with Roman Signer Format: DVD Label: Drag City Country: USA Price: $16.00 |
| "Signers Suitcase (aka Signers Koffer) is a kind of road movie across Europe -- from the Swiss Alps to eastern Poland, from Stromboli to Iceland. Always following the scenerys magically-charged contours, immersing yourself, letting yourself be infected, then traveling on. And what better traveling companion than the elusive artist Roman Signer? A quiet roommate -- but always with something unexpected up his sleeve. A road trip requires finding the right places. On the road through Signers Suitcase, Roman Signer brings his chosen spots alive using a variety of tricks from his kit bag, launching brilliantly simple operations with a combination of gunpowder, fuses, rubber boots, balloons, stools, small tables and other seemingly random items. All his endeavors result in a marvelous visual display full of poker-faced humor that has earned him a place on the cover of Gastr del Sols Upgrade & Afterlife, as well as the sometimes-title, Roman Signer: The Buster Keaton Of Art. Signers Suitcase is also a journey through a state of mind, a tightrope walk from fun to melancholy. Mental and physical risk promote stimulus of the senses -- and sudden crashes and abrupt changes of mood determine the rhythm and atmosphere of this cinematic journey. Peter Liechti, whose collaboration with Voice Crack, Kick That Habit, was just reissued by Drag City, saw a calling in Roman Signer: the preservation of work that so resolutely resists commercial evaluation...or at least the capturing of it photographically, so that in some way it would endure. The sensuality and simple clarity on the one hand as well as this unimpeachable, almost religious being on the other were the challenge of filming Roman Signers work. On the cinematic journey we made together, Roman Signer in a way dictated the route; the film improvises as we proceed on our way." - Drag CIty |

Artist: LIFE PARTNERS Title: Teenagers In Trouble Format: 7" Label: Ride The Snake Country: USA Price: $5.00 |
| "Still unsure how Life Partners morphed from one of the most painfully high-pitched live bands Ive ever seen into this uncircumcised Arab on Radar/Sockeye style party rock band, and doubtful Ill ever get to find out. But back to the heres and nows theyre a four-piece again, with trumpeter Greg Kelley wiggin out up front with singer Dave Dougan. AIDS of Spades has a nice lowrider quality to it, woulda fit well in a Cheech & Chong movie. Teenager in Trouble is even sillier, with some really off lyrics about pregnant, at-risk teens fuckin and drinkin. Im smiling, and smiling again. Memorable shit from what sounds like the party foul of Boston; where others tear down, they build up. First release on a new label co-run by librarian Chris Strunk. Great work!" - Doug Mosurock, Dusted Magazine. |

Artist: LIGHTBOX ORCHESTRA, THE Title: First Contact! Format: CD Label: Locust Country: USA Price: $14.50 |
| "First Contact! brings together highlights from nearly half a decade of recordings by an extended and ever changing superstar lineup of Chicago jazz, punk and rock musicians under the tutelage of cellist/ leader Fred Lonberg-Holm. What youll hear on this disc is an uproarious gathering of sonic jouissance featuring composer, songsmith and producer Jim ORourke, laptop guitar cum electronics-whiz Kevin Drumm, Jeb Bishop, Guillermo Gregorio, members of Town and Country, Pillow, TV Pow, and dozens of other bright lights from this citys creative gene pool on acoustic instruments, homemade sound concoctions and blistering digital and analog electronics as they explore elements of sonic growl, guttural hornspeak, and wistfully spaced out playing. But this isnt just some dandys hoity toity conceptual affair. Counterpoised somewhere between video game warfare and an explosive Arkestral moog freakout from many a Sun Ra episode, this superb collection begins surely enough teetering on the edge of a sonic collision that sets the pace for a grand, adventurous listening experience that just as easily blends the pointilism and angular attack of classic European free music with the raw, blissful emotional group flow of mid-1970s Henry Threadgill." - Locust |

Artist: LIGHTBULB Title: Live: First Show Format: CDR Label: Heresee Country: USA Price: $12.00 |
| "LETS here it for the kids... technically they are 12 now, but this was recorded when they were 11 and it is a toasty oven cooker, sounds from the minds of children whove grown up in the belly of the music beast. Coming soonish will be their studio album which is already recorded and just needs to be mixed down and pressed, ((IM DOING THAT NOW, they be doing a BEATLES COVER))" -Heresee. |

| "Very last copies, from an unexpected warehouse find! First time on vinyl only release of this complete unreleased album recorded prior to their eponymous debut LP P.I.P by Minneapolis band Lightning, featuring members of the original Litter, like Zip Caplan, for instance. Also contains two White Lightning songs as taken from a carefully cleaned acetate." - American Sound. 1969 recordings, mid 90s issue. Last copies. |

Artist: LIGHTNING BOLT Title: Earthly Delights Format: Double LP Label: Load Country: USA Price: $18.00 |
| "After scrapping two entire full lengths, LIGHTNING BOLT is finally ready to unleash new music to the masses. Taking the lessons of extreme metal, blood-brother marrying them to expansive and explosive song form and applying it to Olympic training methods, Earthly Delights uses electric stimulus to shock smile technology to worldwide domes. This is what 2,000 years of evolution and the invention of electric instrumentation introduced into the tank of hook force can do to you. This record has the sound of a ten piece band with a much tighter pay scale, matched with the sonics of military cartoons. Swank artwork by BRIAN CHIPPENDALE." -Load. |
|
Artist: LIGHTNING BOLT Title: First Record Format: CD Label: Load Country: USA Price: $12.00 |
| "This is a CD re-release of the LP-only release from 1997. Added to this CD are bonus tracks that were first available on a cassette companion to the 1997. The LP was had silk-screened covers and was available in an edition of 750 copies. Since 1997 quite a bit has happened with Lightning Bolt. Theyve received lots of press in publications like AP, the Wire, Index, and lots of others. Load Records is proud to present this first release in a new format from this shape-shifting, form-destroying, ear-crunching unit. Although their live shows have been marked by jet blasts of delicate sound shapes, this release shows sees the band playing with long sticky pieces of sonic taffy. It was recorded in the bands Fort Thunder space, this CD shows them using delicate tools to kill very large creatures. This record is long and elaborate in its power but has some surprising delicate moments. The record also pulse with hyper-humanoid percussion matched with bowel loosening bass doing infinite hammer-ons to the gods." - Load. |

Artist: LILBURN, DOUGLAS Title: Complete Electro-Acoustic Works Format: 3CD/1DVD Label: Atoll Country: New Zealand Price: $66.50 |
| Major historical artifact of electronic music, issued on CD for the first time. This boxset features 3 CDs of audio, plus a bonus DVD disc; packaged with 2 booklets of notes & photos. Impressively done. "Douglas Lilburn (1915-2001) is considered the father of New Zealand music. After considerable success, he rejected composing for acoustic musical instruments and turned wholly to the creation of electronic works because he felt they would more accurately portray New Zealand in its own right, without reference to European musical forms." - Atoll. |

Artist: LILES, ANDREW Title: Miscellany Deluxe Format: Double LP Label: Vinyl-On-Demand Country: Germany Price: $43.00 |
| "Much of the music included in this set is exclusive to this vinyl version of Miscellany. Andrew Liles has compiled a comprehensive anthology including as much varied, interesting and unreleased material as possible. He spent many an afternoon sifting through piles of cassettes seeking the oldest and arguably most definitive pieces of music from literally hundreds of hours of tape. The earliest recordings on these discs date back to 1984. Find a New Husband was made on Liles fathers very cheap Amstrad tape-to-tape system. The tape machine ceased to work properly shortly thereafter. This track was the result or many hours of rewinding and re-playing and re-recording, and thus began Liles fascination, obsession and addiction with tape-manipulation, sound FX and recording techniques. Listening back to some of these works reminds us of the archaic and laborious fashion in which music used to be created and assembled. In hindsight the merits of working with tape compared to digital technologies seem to be the random nature of what would happen. Tape bleed, mishaps, the low-fi quality and errors seemed to give unique and often unpredictable results. Many of Andrew Liles early experimentations and accidental consequences are included in this collection. Also included are selections from his two self-released cassettes under the name Lividity. The Lividity tapes were given away to friends and sent as demos to assorted labels. Some 20 years later it is very doubtful that any of them exist other than the two remaining copies Andrew Liles has kept tucked away in some forgotten corner." -Vinyl On Demand |

Artist: LILJENBERG, THOMAS Title: Experiment With Time Format: CD Label: Firework Editions Country: Sweden Price: $13.50 |
| "The sound for this CD was recorded live in January 1982 at Galleri Mors Mössa in Gothenburg as a part of Serial Aktion. Serial aktion was the first piece I did that was based on variations wthin a serial, repetitiv form and during the 80´s was followed by more exhibitions and performances with the same theme. During the 48 hours that the performance lasted I markd my presence in time and space by firing three pistol shots at three targets at three given points in time (at 0 hours, at 24 hours and at 48 hours). The sounds of these shots and all other sounds in the gallery were recorded on a 60-minute cassette tape, which was immediately played and recorded together with all the other sounds on another tape recorder. In that way the 48th and last tape contained all the sounds that had occurred in the gallery during the entire performance, layer upon layer, distorted and re-formed through time and space and the natural wear and tear on the cassette tape. My actions were determined by the tape being played, that is, by what I did the hour and hours before. As with the sound these actions grew, hour by hour, into a more complex and layered form." - Firework Edition. |

| "The thirteenth release on Minimal Wave is Linear Movements On The Screen LP, a collection of songs originally slated for release in 1983. Linear Movement is Belgian mastermind Peter Bonne (A Split-Second, Twilight Ritual, Autumn) joined by Peter Koutstaal, and Lieve Van Steerteghem on vocals. Some tracks appear on the exquisite Pulse Music cassette (released by the Micrart Group) while the rest are previously unreleased. Linear Movement was featured on V/A The Lost Tapes LP with their highly acclaimed The Game, described as an "unstoppable pop song". Due to so much interest in this song, we decided a full LP needed to be released and so we present it to you: hand-numbered, limited pressing on 180 gram vinyl, and accompanied by a large glossy postcard photograph of the band live. These songs are perfect for the dance floor and for home listening too!" -Minimal Wave |

| "The infamous LIQUOR BALL return with another live dose of full-on blown rock action. Joined by legendary sax man STEVE MACKAY (STOOGES) among others, the band tears through a live set recorded at Gradys Record Refuge in Ventura, California, April 4, 2008." - Rocketship |

Artist: LITTLE CLAW Title: Human Taste Format: CD Label: Ecstatic Peace Country: USA Price: $11.00 |
| "Little Claw was born in Detroit, Michigan during the Great Eastern Seaboard blackout of 2003. Having nothing to do, nowhere to go, Heath Heemsbergen and Kilynn Lunsford began playing their acoustic guitars and singing into the darkness. An auspicious beginning to be sure. Even now, Little Claw are still strumming and screaming into the void. Formed originally with Jamie Easter from the Piranhas on drums, the band played a string of shows, starting with their debut performance with legendary Ohio art-punks the Bizarros, which then led to the recording of the first Little Claw LP with Warn Defever (His Name Is Alive) The album was released by Ypsilanti records in 2005. Jamie left the band in the summer of 2005 and after one show as a duo, Hendrik Deherder joined up on the drums. A second LP was recorded with Matthew Smith (Outrageous Cherry) in his Hamtramck living room mid-2006 and was subsequently released by Thurston Moores Ecstatic Peace label in 2007. Later that year, there was a release of a split 7" single with Michael Yonkers on X! records. Little Claws move from the urban nightmare of Detroit to the more subtle cloudy terrors of Portland, Oregon prompted some more augmentations to the line-up: Adam Svenson (of Seattle improv band Du Hexen Hase) took over the caveman beat on the drums, freeing up Henrik to bang the synth and add additional percussion. On the road and on recordings, the Little Claw sound is graced by the touch of Toledo native, Damon Sturdivant (Puffy Areolas, Tyvek) on additional percussion and synth." "But what do they sound like anyway? They sounded like the greatest godammned fucking band on the planet the time we saw em. Two minimalist drummers, a guitar dude with a nice underhook rhythm rip and a girl with a badass no wave slather tongue tearing hell out of her slide guitar given half the chance. And not all hellbent rage either -- some nice licorice melt drizzle crud groove too. Fuckin awesome." -Thurston Moore |

Artist: LITTLE CLAW Title: Race To The Bottom b/w Feeding You Format: 7" Label: Siltbreeze Country: USA Price: $5.00 |
| Hey, whaddya know, another 7"! Were knockin these things out like Kosher corn dogs at the state fair. And we aint got a singles club or nothin! This time its Little Claw thats delivering the goods, two new tracks ( Race To The Bottom/Feed You) that careen off the walls of your skull like drunken Valkyries lashing through the halls of Valhalla. What would Odin think? Who cares! Our own Roland S. Woode sez; "The evolution of Little Claw has been wondrous to behold & now their beguiling cluck has found its way into the Siltbreeze ranks. On what is their 5th vinyl outing, the band has laid down 2 distinct tracks & they are mightly gallops of ambidextrous charge. Race To The Bottom rakes across the nodules of your brain w/serrated glee while Feeding You could be a cosmic transmission from futuristic denizens who have carved Terrence Mckenna pancreas into psychedelic sweetbreads & gobbled them for lysergic sustenance. The sound is, as one of the main pie tasters from Bull Tongue recently opined, "Fucking Awesome"! Edition of 400 copies". - Siltblog |

Artist: LITTLE CLAW Title: Spit And Squalor Swallow The Snow Format: CD Label: Ecstatic Yod Country: USA Price: $10.00 |
| "CD version of 2007 release on Ecstatic Peace! Little Claws batter-rock style provokes a lot of aggression on both sides of the audience/performer divide. Originally from Michigan, they relocated soon after this album to the moister turf of Portland, Oregon (home of JOMF, Smegma, Meltzer, etc). Little Claws rituals are tribal, their tongues unknown, and their recordings for XL, Siltbreeze, Ypsilanti and other labels have taken maximum r&b in many bizarre directions. This CD reissues a newly-mastered version of their second LP, originally issued by Ecstatic Peace! in 2007. It is a monster of form-disruption and includes some of Kilynn Lunsfords most easily comprehended songs. Beauty wears many skins. Heres the proof." -Ecstatic Yod |

Artist: LIVERPOOL Title: Por Favor, Sucesso/Marcelo Zona Sul Format: LP/7" Label: Shadoks Music Country: Germany Price: $46.00 |
| "Brazil 1969/1970. "Liverpool is one of our favorite bands from Brazil. The LP Por Favor, Sucesso (Please, Success) comes together with the ultra-rare 7 inch EP Marcelo Zona Sul, a Brazilian movie from 1970 (you can watch a film-clip on Youtube). This flower power art rock album stands out among the other Brazilian psych albums. It is as good as Modolu 1000 but with better composed songs, influenced by the British Underground, with great guitars, Hammond, effects, complex compositions, uplifting vocals with lots of soul, Allman Brothers style wailing guitars, wah-wah, sometimes sweet and mellow, sometimes extra heavy psychedelic -- all with a great touch of Brazilian music. Perhaps one of the best albums from South America. All original tracks -- 19 in total (including the 6 EP tracks). Enjoy this one." -Shadoks |

Artist: LIVING BREATHING MUSIC Title: Happiness Is Fabulous Format: CD Label: Weird Forest Country: USA Price: $9.00 |
| "What would the soil say? A fair speculation from the lands oldest apostle..."God made the Earth and the Earth was round and the Earth stood still in its roundness... thus gave rise to the color green... the amorphic quality of this color sprang life ... the first sounds involved gurggling Cro-magnon hemorages ... the rest is adequate history ... hamburgers hotdogs hermaphrodites haunted house huge hard hair ... this is my recollection, I am soil!" A true testament of Northern Californian 4:20-vibe/freak-out unfurled for the rest of the world ... a live non-stop excavation of classic Impulse! ether fused a la Cro-Magnon(artists alone decide ...) with a utilitarian nod to "New Weird-ness" and Finnish-psych-spooge... recorded in Davis, CA "Live in Studio A" Sept. 2004 ... 4 colors, 500 copies, collaborative artwork... why does acid cost so much? Features members of Klondike & York, Antennas Erupt, My Whole Hand Was Wet, Tally Band, and Black Bottles." - Weird Forest. |
|
Artist: LLOYD ARTHUR 3 Title: Spheres Of Nothing Format: LP Label: Twisted Village Country: USA Price: $13.50 |
| "Mystically tinged, high-energy alto sax/drums blowout (plus some added cello scrapings on Side A) for those who like their jazz a little bit primitive and a whole lot free. Its uncertain as to whether or not the 3 in Lloyd Arthur 3 refers to a trio of unspecified members or just 3 times Lloyd Arthur. What *is* certain is that Spheres of Nothing is an unrelenting tribute to the spirit of purification through fire, occupying the spaces between classic ESP free jazz, Japanese live-fast-die-young iconoclast Kaoru Abe and a touch of [Lloyds pick] Swedish scuzz rockers Brainbombs." - Twisted Village. |
|
Artist: LO JENGI Title: Dans Les Toilettes Du Paradis/Elakoon Mummo Format: 10" Label: Fonal Country: Finland Price: $16.00 |
| "The French trio Reines DAngleterre performed in Finland in 2009 at Mental Alaskas 10 year anniversary. At some point during this visit, someone had an idea of recording music, which led to a random group of people playing in a small basement room. The album was Recorded at Katajanokan Pommisuoja, Helsinki, by Asko Kananen on March 30, 2009 and edited by él-g and mixed by Mim in Brussels. Lö Jengi is Reines DAngleterre, Islaja, Amon Düde and The Hoopo. On clear vinyl." - Fonal. |
|
Artist: LOBDELL, STEVEN WRAY Title: Live At Club Donut Format: LP Label: Holy Mountain Country: USA Price: $15.00 |
| "STEVEN WRAY LOBDELLs (DAVIS REDFORD TRIAD) second full-length solo album for Holy Mountain was recorded live in December in a small Portland, Oregon donut shop (actually on a loft above the toilet), and unleashes some of Lobdells most over-the-top torrents of Echoplexed guitar frenzy. Elliptical, psychedelic rhythms merge with his trademark fat guitar signal to produce intense leads that demand comparison to an ocean on fire or planet-sized sunspots. John McLaughlin meets Wolf Eyes. Amazing stuff." - Holy Mountain. |

Artist: LOCRIAN/KATCHMARE Title: Split Format: 7" Label: Pilgrim Talk Country: USA Price: $8.00 |
| "Locrian: Chicago drone duo of Terence Hannum and Andre Foisy. Their live show is intense very dark, incense burning, serpentine energy everywhere. I think they are influenced by black metal, but Locrian is much harder to define. Theres a strong ritual element in their music. Katchmare is the solo work of Nick Hoffman. Operator of 3 labels: Scissor Death, Pilgrim Talk, Ghost & Son. He has performed in the U.S. and Japan. Hoffman received a BA in music composition in 2008. His focus was/is electroacoustic music." -Pilgrim Talk |

| From 1999. |
|
Artist: LOOPOOL Title: Parthenogen Format: CDR Label: Audiobot Country: Belgium Price: $12.00 |
| "Two lengthy pieces of music that are hard to pin down. They use electronics, guitars, sound effects, synthesizers, all mentioned here with a big perhaps, because its not known. The music is loosely improvised, but the name of the band hints towards some sense of looping sounds. Loopool loops their sounds through delay pedals. An endless stream of sound without any hierarchy or structure." 2006 release. |
|
Artist: LOOSERS Title: Logic On Its Head Format: 10" Label: Woodsist Country: USA Price: $16.00 |
| "Portugals greatest export (besides cork and textiles) continues its dusky, creeping bleed of six-limbed psychedelic windmilling. Loosers have always excelled at ripping strange spatial curvatures out of drums, electronics, and exotic moods, and Logic On Its Head serves up two more classic black platters of sidelight ritualism. The A drapes incense and chimes atop an old copper bowl of ringing tones and tentacle percussion fusion that slow-burns a sweet smoke you never wanna exhale. Dont. The B, Daeh Sti No Cigol, is even more perverse, as backwards as its title and dusty as a mosque. Sudden gestures flutter in the dusk and the sky turns purple. Really commanding and liberated in a way few improv outfits achieve so easily. Impending double LPs on Eclipse and Qbico should only escalate their visionary aura."- Britt/NNF. Two-color silkscreening on fabric-photocopied, hand-stamped sleeves. Black vinyl. Edition of 340. Split with Not Not Fun |

Travelling the ways of love. black vinyl, handmade collage ltd edition of 180 numbered copies" -Troglosound |

Artist: LOPEZ, FRANCISCO Title: Untitled Format: CD Label: Anoema Country: Finland Price: $14.50 |
| "On the new Untitled (2005) CD the Spanish composer Francisco López presents four recently composed pieces which span a broad dynamic as well as stylistic range. Together these constitute a fascinating and intense research exploration into the deep essence of sound. From sizzling jungle atmospheres to rumbling subterranean drones and microscopic details, this is a Francisco López tour de force. In addition to three pieces based on environmental recordings, Untitled (2005) features also an instrumental composition Untitled #111 (For Jani Christou) performed by the noted German Zeitkratzer ensemble. Unsuprisingly, either way the sound is 100% Francisco López. On this release Mr. López might be unsually forthcoming about the sound sources he uses (as specified on the sleeve) but the dedication for the creation of absolute music remains the same." - Anoema. |

Artist: LOS INICIADOS Title: s/t Format: 7" Label: Minimal Wave Country: USA Price: $14.00 |
| "Los Iniciados was the sister project of cult synth punk band El Aviador Dro from Madrid, Spain. They formed in 1981 as a performance art group to combine music and theatre, and to initiate a break from the traditional band line-up. They had ever changing members whose identities were concealed by masks and costume during the live show. These 4 tracks are selects from their original cassettes, most of which have been previously released but are long out of print." - Minimal Wave. |
|
Artist: LOS JAIVAS Title: El Volantin Format: LP Label: Shadoks Country: Germany Price: $43.00 |
| "This first ever album by Chilean band Los Jaivas had no name but it always was called El Volantin . It was only release in Chile in a small limited run for a real private label. Thats why someone could call it the rarest album from Chile, way rarer than Aguarturbia, Kissing Spell and Embrujo. Perhaps not as much sought after but rare as gold-dust. The music is real trippy and you can compare it close with the Lula Cortez Paêbirú album. Long passages of trippy sounds waving into fuzz guitar songs. There is a more acoustic side of the album and the second side is all electric. Really amazing music for everybody into acid trips into the wild South American wilderness. I am sure that this album was banned after 1973 when the Chilean government became nasty to musician from another planet." - Shadoks. Great record! |
|
Artist: LOS LLAMARADA Title: Against The Day Format: 7" Label: Avant Country: Italy Price: $8.00 |

Artist: LOS LLAMARADA Title: Take The Sky Format: LP Label: S-S Country: USA Price: $13.00 |
| "New album on S-S from Los Llamarada entitled Take The Sky. Originally slated for an earlier release, we held off on putting it out until we built this into one serious killer. While some of the murk of the first is gone (dont worry, it still has an eerie lo-fi sound), it has been replaced by sharp psych stun guitar which will make your jaw drop." -S-S |
|
Artist: LOSE, BRUCE Title: Whats Your Name/Waking To Sleep Format: 7" Label: Subterranean Country: USA Price: $6.00 |
| "Very weird 1983 solo single from Bruce Lose of Flipper. First song has drum machine, echo/vibrato guitar, distorted bass, phase shifting/distorted guitar, rambling, abstract lyrics, and a Flipper-like slow beat with repetitive bass pattern. Other song has drum machine, tapes, bass notes from some instrument, even weirder lyrics...sounds a lot like early Royal Trux, actually. (Hey, could Hagerty, a professed Flipper fan, have possibly COPPED HIS SOUND FROM THIS?)" - Tim Ellison/Modern Rock Mag. Original copies of this 1983 single of homemade rhythm box electronics by Flippers Bruce Lose. Some have compared this to primitive new wave recluse John Bender, which isnt too far off. |
|
Artist: LOST AARAAFF Title: s/t Format: CD Label: PSF Country: Japan Price: $21.00 |

|
Artist: LOVE CRY WANT Title: s/t Format: Double LP Label: Weird Forest Country: USA Price: $26.00 |
| "Nearly 40 years after its creation, Weird Forest is proud to release this seminal jazz album for the first time ever on vinyl. The incendiary grooves captured in this wax defy description. It is not free, funk, fusion or fire music it encompasses all of these sounds and then blasts far beyond them. Featuring the late great organist, Larry Young (Miles Davis circa Bitches Brew, Tony Williams Lifetime, etc), this album is mandatory listening for fans of Miles Davis Live Evil fusion era, Youngs own Lawrence Of Newark, Sun Ras cosmic explorations and even Japanese guitar terrorists like Keiji Haino and Masayuki Takayanagi. Beautifully packaged, Weird Forest-style, in a deluxe double-gatefold cover and remastered for vinyl by Weasel Walter, the Love Cry Want 2xLP is an essential document of a criminally unheralded group. Heres the scoop: June 1972. The times were filled with darkness and turmoil. This music, of loving, of crying, of wanting, makes a powerful statement. It is awash with the anguish of the times, yet it heralds the promise of better days to come. Love Cry Want was a legendary jazz fusion group based in Washington D.C., and led by guitarist, Nicholas. This recording took place during a series of concerts in Washington, held across from the White House in Lafayette Park, and featured the late, great jazz organist Larry Young, who had just recorded the historic Bitches Brew LP with Miles Davis and had left the Tony Williams Lifetime and guitarist John McLaughlin to combine forces with Nicholas and drummer, Joe Gallivan. This second incarnation of Love Cry Want featured the triumvirate of Nicholas, Gallivan, and Young performing some of the most important music in the history of jazz. No record company would release this music, which was ahead of its time. Nicholas, who pioneered the development of the first guitar synthesizer (in association with Electronic Music Laboratories) performs on the first prototype guitar synth along with fellow musician, Joe Gallivan, who pioneered the development of the drum synthesizer with inventor, Robert Moog. June 1972, Lafayette Park. Richard Nixon was President. There was a nasty war going on in Vietnam, good people were rioting in the streets and cities were aflame. During this series of concerts outside the White House, President Nixon ordered aide, J.R. Haldeman, to pull the plug on the concert fearing that this strange music would levitate the White House. This is that music, remastered for this first time-vinyl release by Weasel Walter. - Weird Forest. Personnel: Nicholas: prototype guitar synthesizer, ring modulator, wind, rain, thunder, lightning, water, hi-tension wires and wailing dervish Joe Gallivan: drums, steel guitar, moog synthesizer, and percussion Jimmy Molneiri: drums and percussion Larry Young: Hammond organ. Package design by Aaron Winters. Limited to 500 copies with deluxe Stoughton tip-on style gatefold jacktets. |
|
Artist: LOVE IS SO FAST, THE Title: S/T Format: LP Label: Siltbreeze Country: USA Price: $13.00 |
| "Exact details on the origins of The Love Is So Fast are vague; essentially, it was a project created by Danyhell and Estrella (currently in Los Llamarada) intended to flesh out bedroom improvisations and act as an inner search for a sense of skeletal (pop) structure amid the morass of postmodern rock effluvium. Performed live and recorded in one take, the five hazy, languorous tracks certainly charge the ions with positive, crystalline zip, creating an electron hole that sounds like alien transmissions from a long-ago Mars. Not the band, friend, the planet! Fans of the debut LP by Los Llamarada (S-S Records) will be downright giddy with the Precambrian narco-menace that comes carbonating off The Love Is So Fasts archival recordings. Or, as the band says themselves: "This is the music we dreamed of but couldnt play." Grab the peyote, I think Im Frida Kahlo." -Siltbreeze |

Artist: LOVE LIVE LIFE + ONE Title: Love Will Make A Better You Format: CD Label: Drone Syndicate Country: Sweden Price: $18.00 |
| "Number six on the Japrocksampler Top 50, available again for the first time in over a decade!" "Commencing with singer Akira Fuses goggle-eyed one-day-old-baby innocence, Love Live Life + 1s album opener The Question Mark escorts us through an eighteen-minute free-rock R&B adventure like nothing before or since. Clanking harsher than even the title track of Funkadelics Free Your Mind & Your Ass Will Follow, and twice as long; cosmic as the Cosmic Jokers Galactic Supermarket, and gnarly as John McLaughlins out-there-a-minute axe excursions on Miless Right Off or his own Devotion solo LP, do these guys fight for their right to party! The mellower second side includes the insanely brilliant eight-minute epic Shadows Of My Mind, in which Akira Fuse sings like some drunken Italian baritone, while atonal swooping strings and crazy brass support/undermine him; then its off into a juggernaut bass-heavy clatterthon with duel-axe outrage of the highest level. And how about that title track whose catchy bastard licks unashamedly rip Slys I Want To Take You Higher, but still have you singing along with Fuse? The record closes brilliantly with the demented Facts About It All, which opens like Fuse laying a grunting 6/8 James Brown/Eric Burdon ballad on us. But no, this miniature R&B opera says in 2 minutes and 56 seconds what prog bands took a whole side to say. All hail visionary genius Ikuzo Orita for uniting his fave guitarist Kimio Mizutani with the errant free-jazz Gibson 335 of Takao Naoi, whose brittle spittle pops permanent wheelies around these slippery rhythm tracks. Also hail Orita for recognizing the genius of these songs of sax player Kei Ichihara, for trusting Akira Fuses professionalism and open-mindedness, and for seeing this 33-minute-long classic to its unlikely conclusion." -- Japrocksampler |

Artist: LOVE LIVE LIFE + ONE Title: Love Will Make A Better You Format: LP Label: Phoenix Country: UK Price: $23.00 |
| "Phoenix Records releases a fully-remastered edition of the 1971 sole album by Love Live Life + One. There were several progressive psychedelic groups in Japan in the early 70s including the short-lived Love Live Life + One. The band played a few live gigs and released this lone album before disbanding. The group consisted of 9 musicians and the "plus one" seems to refer to vocalist Akira Fuse who had been a pop vocalist since the mid-60s, appearing on albums since 1967. Most of the musicians were obscure except for keyboard player Hiro Yanagida, who was a member of the highly-acclaimed Foodbrain and later Strawberry Path, whose album When The Raven Has Come To The Earth was released the same year as Love Will Make A Better You, and guitarist Kimio Mizutani who was in the band People that released the massively rare Ceremony -- Buddha Meet Rock. Love Live Life + Ones only record is a mix of blues-based psychedelia that pushes into progressive and even avant-garde realms at times, while the skronky sax-playing even recalls the edgier end of the jazz spectrum. An original, innovative and extremely rare piece of Japanese psychedelia. Limited edition pressed on 180 gram vinyl and housed in a gatefold sleeve with the original artwork and the original illustrated LP lyric sheet." -Phoenix |

Artist: LOVE TAN Title: Miscellaneous Night Feelings Format: LP Label: Kill Shaman Country: USA Price: $16.00 |
| "LOVE TAN used to be called PYRAMIDS, but have recently decided to change their name. Hailing from Seattle, Washington, this duo incorporate a wide variety of sounds and rhythms. The vocals range from falsetto to baritone, the guitar can sound sparse or punishingly full, and the drumming can go from methodical to off-kilter, and all in the same song. This is their debut LP." -Kill Shaman |

Artist: LOVE TAN Title: s/t Format: 7" Label: Sweet Rot Country: Canada Price: $6.00 |
| "LOVE TAN used to be called PYRAMIDS (which is what the labels on the record say), but have recently decided to change their name. Hailing from Seattle, the six songs on this EP display the wide range of sounds the band is capable of, which is all the more impressive considering that they are only a two piece made up of MATTHEW FORD (FACTUMS, ex-INTELLIGENCE) on drums and CRAIG CHAMBERS (THE LIGHTS) on guitar. The vocals range from falsetto to baritone, the guitar can sound sparse or punishingly full, and the drumming can go from methodical to off-kilter, and all in the same song. This is their debut release, which will be followed shortly by a full length on Kill Shaman. For fans of Tronics, The Urinals, The Prats, etc." - Sweet Rot |

Artist: LOW RED CENTER Title: Low Red Center Format: 10" Label: S-S Country: USA Price: $15.00 |
| "S.S. Records is really happy to release vinyl debut of Low Red Center. While their sound centers around electronics, to call them a minimal synth band or electronica or post-punk is selling them short. Low Red Center not only have a great sound, but they have great songs, and a couple of ace singers. Originally a studio project, in 2004 Low Red Center morphed into an improvised group. Containing members of Voxtrot, Oblong Boys, Pataphysics, Spoon, NonoBangBang, and other Austin bands, LRC staged shows that involved heavy costuming, theater, dance, and, of course, music. Eventually, many of these improvised pieces were molded into songs. In the words of Chad A., The object of Low Red Center is an exercise in improvisation and communication. Surprising ourselves as musicians by experimenting and discovering on stage, in front of an audience is of our goals. Restraint and listening are our approach to playing. A dedication to succinct presentation prevents unwanted jamming and convinces the audience that what we are performing are practiced, pre-written songs. The sound we have in mind is minimal and somewhat alien, with a vague film noir feel. This tension is frequently broken with a faster, more jagged post-punk approach. The recordings present a studio translation of our live principals, but with the luxuries of production embellishment and craft. Everything was performed (no sequencing) on analog electronic synthesizers, acoustic instruments, and electric guitar and bass. All the drum machines were actual individual organisms, breathing with us in the studio--nothing was sampled and rearranged. No computers were used. Influenced by Cluster, John Foxx, Tuxedomoon, Bruce Haack, Crash Course in Science, Silver Apples, Raymond Scott, and Goblin, you can also hear Relando & the Loaf, Devo, the Plastics and others in their sound." - S-S. |

Artist: LSD AND THE SEARCH FOR GOD Title: s/t Format: LP Label: Deep Space Country: USA Price: $14.00 |
| "Take a dose of LSD & THE SEARCH FOR GOD-the highly anticipated debut from these San Francisco space-rockers. This masterful collection of five lysergic-dipped, guitar-based gems is delightfully reminiscent of the early Creation Records sound. Turn it on and tune in to a psychedelic trip, where swirling guitars and playfully flirtatious boy/girl vocals travel through dreamy pop hooks and fuzzed out drones. This brilliant EP makes it clear why the bands astonishing live performances up and down the West Coast have firmly established them as the up-and-coming darlings of the underground psychedelic, space rock, shoegaze community. Limited to 1,000 copies." - Deep Space |

Artist: LSD MARCH Title: BigJar Solo Sets Format: DVD Label: Archive Country: USA Price: $18.50 |
| "As the title would suggest, this represents footage James filmed of all three members of LSD MARCH (SHINSUKE MICHISHITA, IKURO TAKAHASHI, MASAMI KAWAGUCHI) performing solo sets at Phillys best book store, BigJar, while on a short US tour in the fall of 2006. Shinsuke and Masamis renderings represent a Japanese working of psychy folk for guitar and vocals. Ikuro offers a contrasted short piece of oscillator assemble that is firmly rooted in the avant-garde, with overtones of conceptualist art, found sound, and experimentalism. The release comes packaged in a folded heavy stock cover with a pressing size of 550 copies designed and silkscreen by JASON KILLINGER from BIRDS OF MAYA." - Archive |

Artist: LSD MARCH Title: Constellation Of Tragedy Format: CD Label: Important Country: USA Price: $13.00 |
| "Constellation Of Tragedy is the sixth full length album from Japans LSD March. Apt comparisons are often made of LSD March being a cross between The Velvet Underground and Les Rallizes Denudes. Constellation Of Tragedy is their most well-recorded and refined album to date, coming to a climactic close and featuring leader Shinsuke Michishita playing guitar, Theremin, music box, bass, harmonium, & harmonica." - Important Records |

Artist: LSD MARCH Title: Empty Rubious Red Format: LP Label: Tequila Sunrise Country: USA Price: $20.00 |
| "...originally released in 2006 on their own white elephant imprint (a longer version of empty rubious red was reissued later that year as a limited edition cd on the incredible archive label), both versions sold out in about a minute. Its actually more like a solo outing by lsdm front-man shinsuke michishita (on voice, guitar, bass and percussion), accompanied on two tracks by legendary drummer ikuro takahashi (high rise, fushitsusha, tamio shiraishi, kosokuya, che-shizu, maher shalal hash baz, nagisa ni te, etc). most of the songs here are intimate, in-your-inner-ear ballads, hypnagogic and melancholic, achy hangovers from the third velvets LP sorrowful birds on the last tree in the universe, thinking themselves into being, then forgetting themselves, then remembering again. except for the title track, that is an 8-minute doppler-effect trance that gets you wasted on polonium 210, sets the dials of the kabbalah for the heart of the sun, and clicks "send." we could describe the overall sound here as late night psych. Its a pretty hackneyed term at this point, but try to remember how it used to be a downright poetic handle for the genre, conjuring those sleepless hours between 3 and 5 a.m. when the acid-drenched mind emits showers of sparks into the abyss. Light fuse and get away! we dont know what sorts of childrens clothing well see when trend analysts start recommending late night psych as the compass for designers, but its bound to be interesting. just remember, when you see saucer-eyed tots on the deck of a starship with their heads plugged into andromeda, you heard it here first. *european manufactured 180 gram lp housed in a stoughton old-style sleeve with j-card style obi." - Tequila Sunrise. |

Artist: LSD MARCH Title: Nikutai No Tubomi Format: Double CD Label: Beta-Lactam Ring Country: USA Price: $18.00 |
| A double-CD edition of 500 numbered copies in a full-color book bound case. "It gets so lonely in the belly of a whale. But the acoustics are fantastic. The pitch and yaw of its cavernous gut lowing with a long, guttural song burst. This is met by a loud, wailing which drone swells up as millions of gallons pass through tons of ambergris. These massive internal sound collisions resonate into a monstrous feedback of even greater proportion than the beast itself. And Jonah smiles. This is the sound of LSD MARCH. Be the body of Christ and let the whale take of YOU. LSD March is a Japanese psychedelic rock group, based in the city of Himeji. It is led by singer and guitarist SHINSUKE MICHISHITA. The group is named after a track by krautrock group Guru Guru. Michishita has also played with Magura Mozart and Doodles." - Beta-Lactam Ring. |

Artist: LSD MARCH Title: Under Milk Wood Format: CD Label: Important Country: USA Price: $14.00 |
| "The new LSD March album, Under Milk Wood, is their first full length since 2007s Constellation Of Tragedy for Important Records. With grace (in the rock sense), style, humor & the perfect touch of heavy riffage this tremendously unique and original recording is a classic of the new Japanese underground. Recorded at Black Snowflake Studios in Japan, Under Milk Wood is a fascinating ghostly rock album full of clean untreated restraint, as a grounded calm compliments Takahashi Ikuros drumming. It isnt until midway through the record that the heavy riffage begins to slowly become buried beneath the white blizzard blanket that is the remainder of the album. Much critical praise awaits this fine album and its likely to become your favorite snow-storm record, too. Let the electric snow fall." -Important |

Each disc represents one nights worth of material edited by MICHAEL GIBBONS, without overdubs. Personnel from each night varies and thus present different types of material. Artist: LUBELSKI, SAMARA Title: Did You See?/Spectacular of Passages Format: 7" Label: Time-Lag Country: USA Price: $8.50 |
| "Two stunning exclusive tracks finally unleashed after (too many) years on the shelf, just in time to coincide with Samaras wonderful new album Future Slip on Thurston Moores Ecstatic Peace! label. A sweet little dose of hushed and fragile melancholy folk-pop-drone fluttering. Samaras unmistakable slow-bliss songforms are at their most stripped down and psychedelically entwined, with thick hovering violin tones, distant reverbed atmospheres and gentle swirls of quivering guitar feedback all lifting things just high enough. Totally bleary-eyed and beautiful, hitting that perfect spot just between your heart and gut. To these ears its that golden zone where the sound of her past in bands like Hall Of Fame, Tower Recordings, Metabolismus, etc., merges effortlessly with her sublimely structured solo vision. Packaged in silver and black on bright red offset printed art paper covers, with simple hand stamped labels. Edition of 400 copies." - Time Lag. |

Artist: LUBELSKI, SAMARA Title: Future Slip Format: LP Label: Ecstatic Peace Country: USA Price: $15.00 |
| "LP version with glossy insert. Samara Lubelskis 5th solo LP Future Slip serves up a gorgeous and friendly collection of bittersweet melodies, sinister basslines, gestural Polaroid lyrics, and spot-on drumming garnished with sprigs of fuzz, paired with a guitar Riesling. It is a record of knowledge and innocence, of truth and fairytale, of wonder and clarity. Envision France Gall performing the songs of Sterling Morrison and Mo Tucker with Ralph Molina on drums. The show is at a loft across Bowery from CBGBs and the only person in the audience at soundcheck is Jandek, cross-legged in the middle of the floor. Produced by Thurston Moore. And here is the result: Future Slip is a worldly record, a record which offers a taste of the new dimension but warns of guru bummers. To a sunny day it adds the shadows which allow the perception of depth. On a rainy day it offers a selection of cakes. Anyone who does not dig this record deserves our pity, as they know nothing about the joy or sadness of life." -Ecstatic Peace |
|
Artist: LUBELSKI, SAMARA Title: In the Valley Format: LP Label: Eclipse Country: USA Price: $14.00 |
| "Reissue of cdr released on the Child of Microtones label in 2004. Samara Lubelski is a member of the groups Hall of Fame and Tower Recordings (to name a few) and In The Valley was her first solo release available in a numbered edition of 99 copies. This vinyl reissue features Samara playing only violin and it is really stunning. Recorded at the Rare Book Room "to record these works that include pre-drone, ballads, and avant spirituals. The two most hyperbolic tracks are her duet with the moon moaner and her darked Suzuki version of the Blind Boy Grunt classic All the Tired Horses, both blues songs and examples of 20th century music played for Delta enthusiasts, major label deletions, and country blues connoisseurs. However, it is her originals and stark unaccompanied playing juxtaposed with gorgeously overdubbed synchronistic timbres that are truly over the moon on this recording. The amorous tonal gush that radiates from I Love Thlowth is a vibrating omnichord of spectral abundance as spooked as Freenys Barn Dance AND as intricate as the dual fiddles of Andrew & George Carter but done on a single viloin. In short these revolutionary compositions recall an iconoclastic frolic where she is wielding a magic bow and waving auroral pizzicato spirit spells over the triangulated eye mind of Kosugi, Henry Sims / Flynt and Clark Kessinger." MV. Comes housed in a eye-catching full color sleeve and includes an insert." - Eclipse. |
|
Artist: LUBELSKI, SAMARA Title: Parallel Suns Format: LP Label: Social Registry Country: USA Price: $13.00 |
| "With Parallel Suns Samara Lubelski has flown into a higher orbit with her merger of the fuels of folk, psychedelia and pop. They combine into a potent mixture that gives her compositions a vibrancy that shimmers in the reflection of their power. The music streams down and ends up in your ear through dappled arrangements that are warm and bright while still having them shaded with darkness from both the lyrics and sound." - Social Registry. |
|
Artist: LUBELSKI, SAMARA Title: Spectacular of Passages Format: CD Label: Social Registry Country: USA Price: $14.00 |
| "Spectacular Of Passages is Samara Lubelskis second entry into the world of psychedelic pop: Ten perfectly arranged pop songs rounded out by musical contributions from members of Metabolismus, The No Neck Blues Band, Lady Bug Transistor & The Clean." - Social Registry. |
|
Artist: LUBELSKI, SAMARA Title: Spectacular of Passages Format: LP Label: Destijl Country: USA Price: $16.50 |
| "There is certainly nothing wrong with chanteuses we are quite lucky to now have a fair few in our aural midst as some of the younguns seem to take off but neu-folk composer Samara Lubelski is absolutely not a chanteuse by nature. In truth to her pedigree in Metabolismus, Tower Recordings, Hall of Fame, the Sonora Pine, Pacer, Matt Valentine et al., shes a master of atmospheric textures at both juggernaut tempi and languorous sonic canvasses, her part as one of whole. Samara, with dew-flecked voice and slippery strung chords, makes that languor a tour of both honeyed breakfast plate and the midday crackle of dried grass. Third as bandleader, ten new classics of deliciously effusive songcraft, Passages joins Lubelski with The Cleans Hamish Kilgour and otherworldly luminaries Matt Heyner (NNCK), Christian Frederickson (Rachels), and Cynthia Nelson." - Destijl. |

Artist: LUCA, GHERASIM Title: Two Poems Format: LP Label: Alga Marghen Country: Italy Price: $28.00 |
| "Alga Marghen proudly presents an LP edition including two experimental sound works by Gherasim Luca, created in close connection to Sten Hanson who invited the Rumenian artist at Fylkingen in the very beginning of the 1970s and made him discover the possibilities of the advanced EMS electronic music studio of Stockholm. The two recordings presented here are quite unique as they are the only poems by Gherasim Luca created through the use of electronic manipulations. As Henri Chopin wrote some years later in his legendary Poésie Sonore Internationale book, Ghérasim Luca made a big impression at the Third Stockholm Festival in 1970. Luca was born in Bucarest in 1913. Before leaving to Israel, he had a leading role among the Roumanian Surrealist group. He eventually moved to Paris where he lived until the end of his life in 1992. Gherasim Lucas work is very personal, giving his poems a very uncommon and ironic character. Again Henri Chopin underlines that in his recordings, which are not many, he superimposes his very warm voice, marked by his Roumanian accent; its a sound wonder. In fact Luca is not a sound poet. He is more a speaker who managed, without complex, to enter into the Fylkingen studio vortex. On 4 tracks and with 32 loudspeakers, thanks to his superb voice and his instinctive knowledge of the electronic studio which amplifies words, he gives great pleasure to the listener, even if the latter can not understand French. Autres Secrets Du Vide Et Du Plein (April 1971) and Crimes Sens Initiales (April 1972) were both recorded one track at the time on a 4 track tape and afterwards subjected to electronic treatments. They were recorded in Sweden at EMS and first performed at the 1971 and 1972 Text-Sound Festivals of Stockholm. Edition limited to 385 copies, also including the reproduction of a wonderful drawing by Gherasim Luca on the front cover, a photo portrait of the author by Gilles Ehrmann from 1959 and an essay by Henri Chopin." -Alga Marghen |

Artist: LUCEY, CHRIS Title: Songs of Protest and Anti-Protest Format: CD Label: Rev-Ola Country: UK Price: $16.50 |
| 2002 release, repressed. "Chris Lucey...the man who never was..... star of one of the most mysterious, rabidly collectable and expensive West Coast folk-rock albums of all. A monster on Ebay, revered by Julian Cope, and buzzing through every psychedelic web site on the net. Produced by Marshall Lieb, Phil Spectors Teddy Bears collaborator, sounding like Arthur Lee demos backed by a punk version of Tim Buckleys band, sung and written by a man who worked with The Rolling Stones, Frank Zappa, Kim Fowley, P.J. Proby, Lowell George, and Curt Boettcher among other luminaries, but still managed to fall through the cracks of history. Bobby Jameson... subject of the most lavish and expensive Billboard ad supplement ever (for which the invoice is still outstanding), star of Mondo Hollywood and best remembered among L.A. scenesters for jumping off the roof of the Riot House on Sunset and walking away. A glimpse of that Mondo Sunset Strip underbelly that never really got represented at Monterey. On the mysterious Surrey Records, released under a pseudonym, and boasting a blurred snapshot of Brian Jones jamming in a club on the Strip as its front cover with a jazzy version of Bobbys song Girl From The East, better known as recorded by garage-meisters The Leaves... what was going on here God only knows. But a West-Coast classic from the Twilight Zone... yes, indeed." - Rev-Ola. |

Artist: LUCKY DRAGONS Title: Dark Falcon Format: LP Label: Marriage Country: USA Price: $16.00 |
| "Appearing originally in the fall of 2002 as a limited CD-only release from the pioneering indie electronic label 555 Recordings, Lucky Dragons first full length Dark Falcon circulated widely through burned CDs and tapes traded amongst friends. Now this mythical mixtape creature is getting a royal reissue treatment from Marriage Records, coinciding with the release of Lucky Dragons newest full length, Dream Island Laughing Language. This is where the Los Angeles-based collective learned how to make a record: culling from two years worth of accumulated field recordings and tender homemade spirituals, each of the 21 tracks hangs together in a delicate reinventing of traditional song structures. For all of its densely layered nostalgia and boldly digital textures, this is a lucid and revealing listen, a microscopically poetic vision into the process of blossoming collaboration between good friends in hard times. Cassettes traded through the mail, chance snippets of radio from a friends bedroom, firecrackers in the street, drums in the living room, overheard conversations, every sound is to be listened through: a window perpetually opening. Spare and gentle, explosive and candid, all of the collectives prolific output relies on this record as its foundation." -Marriage |
|
Artist: LUCKY DRAGONS Title: Dream Island Laughing Language Format: LP Label: Marriage Country: USA Price: $18.00 |
| "The eighteenth release by Los Angeles-based Lucky Dragons details the continuing pursuit of a humble and ecstatic, drippy and explosive, smoldering and upset music for our experience in America right now -- messages of unrest have long failed to be clearly understood, solitude and empty organization have given way to a very current volcanic desire for togetherness. Genre has never been less important -- influences and ideas are consumed and digested and released in the spirit of a culture larger than music as it is bought and sold. This is world music for a world that doesnt care about music as we have packaged it for the last 100 years. You could call it post- noise, or post-anything you like, but we would prefer to call it pre-something. For this recording, the time is 2007-2008, the place is California. The name of the record refers to the landfill-island in Tokyo harbor where the original lucky dragon now lives -- dream island-- and to the creation of imaginary languages -- laughing language -- that can be used to express things our own languages cant. As with Lucky Dragons legendary live performances, these recordings strive to create a space where community and memory and ritual and perspective all come together as a crystal and then vibrate and shatter. Includes 24-page booklet of drawings." -Marriage |

Artist: LUCKY DRAGONS Title: Open Power Format: LP Label: Teenage Teardrops Country: USA Price: $13.00 |
| "Lucky Dragons... create ecstatic music that completely transcends genres. My attempts to describe what their music actually sounds like always fall short of the magic they are making. I guess you could say it sounds like -- ecstatic magic. Challenging stereotypes that electronic music is cold and sterile, Lucky Dragons live show, though conducted via computers, is a truly great celebration of the human spirit, giving real hope for the techno-future our society is racing toward. On white vinyl, with poster." - Teenage Teardrops |

Artist: LUCKY DRAGONS Title: Vrais Noms/True Names Format: 7" Label: Atelier Ciseaux Country: France Price: $11.00 |
| "Its still a bit too early in this big empty house. In the yard, an unsound choir seems to grin childishly and fishily to the neighbours around. Sarah Anderson and Luke Fischbeck, LUCKY DRAGONS, live in Los Angeles and have been recording for about 10 years albums (on Marriage Records, Upset the rhythm) which are as extactic as well as precisous. Their new ep Vrais noms/ True names (limited to 350 copies + free mp3s) is available now on Atelier ciseaux records (Paris/ France). 9 tracks for less than 12 minutes, with an artwork by SUMI INK CLUB and screenprinted covers on recycled paper." - Atelier Ciseaux. |

Artist: LUGOSI Title: Dawn Format: CD Label: CMR Country: New Zealand Price: $12.50 |
| "Lugosi existed in Wellington, New Zealand from the mid to late 1990s and consisted of players Campbell Kneale (Birchville Cat Motel, With Throats As Fine As Needles, Celebrate Psi Phenomenon label boss etc), Andrew Savage (Sunship) and Leon Schutz, with a guest appearance on track two by Clayton Noone (Armpit, CJA, The Strange Girls, Root Don Lonie for Cash label boss etc). Dawn is the groups only CD release to date, following a trickle of fantastic and long out of print miniature edition lathe records and cassette tapes mostly published on Kneales Celebrate Psi Phenomenon label. The six improvisations on the album were recorded in the Lower Hutt Baptist Church in 1998. With electric guitars and keyboards the group creates multiple layers of swooning feedback loops, drifting guitar notes and riffs that interweave - sculpting rich harmonic drones that fall in and out of rhythm with sprinklings of intermittent percussion. CMR is delighted to bring this set of crisp recordings out of the vaults to a wider audience of wanting ears." - CMR. |

Artist: LUIE LUIE Title: Touchy Format: CD Label: Companion Country: USA Price: $14.00 |
| "Some years ago, a Los Angeles area collector stumbled across an orphaned copy of Touchy in a thrift store. It was shared through tape trading networks and bootlegged on vinyl -- now, Companion Records is proudly offering this first official Touchy CD release. Luie Luie has to be the most jaw-dropping one-man band lounge act found to date. Touchy serves as a conceptual dance album, an experimental album, as well as a sort of healing LP for 60s burn-outs. What can his music be compared to? Nothing that we know of. Luis Johnston is a Southern California screenwriter, painter, and musician whos spent the past 30 years working in almost complete obscurity. But hes also written and starred in a feature film and shaken hands with Elvis Presley. Luie has been playing live at various restaurants, lounges, and country clubs for three decades and is still going strong. He released a handful of 45s in the 70s and one full-length LP, Touchy in 1974. And he continues to record unknown quantities of yet-to-be-released CDs. This deluxe CD version is housed in a digipak sleeve, includes 2 Touchy buttons, a 20-page booklet with rare photos, concert flyers, art work, and a new introduction from Luie himself which sheds some light on his original inspiration for the album." - Companion |

Artist: LUNCH, CHRISTIAN Title: Unreliable Sources Format: LP Label: Alternative Tentacles Country: USA Price: $7.00 |
| "Released in 1990. Produced by JELLO BIAFRA. Four tracks. First appeared on the landmark Let Them Eat Jellybeans compilation. Atypical industrial electro-rock tracks from this techno-wiz gone haywire. Features three tracks remixed by HYPNO LUXA and HERMES PAN. |
Artist: LUNDVALL, TOR Title: Sleeping and Hiding Format: LP Label: Dais Country: USA Price: $16.00 |
| "This is a very special release for us, having admired Tors artwork and music since first hearing him over a decade ago! Originally recorded in 2005 and intended as the third and final chapter in the series which included the beautiful albums "Last Light" and "Empty City", Dais Records is proud to release the latest album from Ghost Ambient composer Tor Lundvall: "Sleeping and Hiding". Dark and beautiful soundtracks for afternoon daydreams and moonlit forest walks. Limited to 500 hand numbered editions." - Dais. "Sleeping And Hiding (or two things Im very good at) was recorded in what seemed like the blink of an eye during the Spring of 2005 and then shelved while I concentrated on other projects. I originally intended this album to be the third and final chapter in the series which also included "Last Light" and "Empty City". Listening to it now, however, I feel this album stands alone in its own unique space. Musically, its an enitrely vocal effort and somewhat more song oriented than my previous releases. Several of the tracks were inspired by evening drives through the woods, watching the copper-pink sunlight reflecting off bright yellow-green blossoms. Other tracks were inspired by specific events, such as Falling Trees which was recorded after my next door neighbor cut down all of the oaks in her backyard, forever changing the view from my porch. The Dead Period is a personal favorite which describes a space I still find myself falling into. The final track Sleeping manages to conjure up the precise atmosphere of one of my earliest childhood memories: Lying in bed during a bright afternoon as the strange sounds outside lulled me to sleep." -Tor Lundvall |

Artist: LUSSU & MAGNEETTI Title: s/t Format: CDR Label: Lussu & Magnetti Country: Finland Price: $12.00 |
| "lussu and magneetti are a finnish-american duo from helsinki. they joined forces in early summer of 2006 and began recording in lussus appartment shortly thereafter. their debut release is noisy, droney music: vignettes of drum beats laced with ethereal voices and reverbed guitar. at times, it unleashes harsh episodes of distorted rhythms and noise, other times, a dark universe of "spooked-out" earthy tones coming from either the finnish forest or the "spin-cycle" of your washing machine. this limited editon of 150 copies is beautifully decorated with pressed leaves handpicked near the road of a main norwegian highway. delicate and unique, this cd-r release greets its audience with both visual and aural delights... new project from jonna karanka (kuupuu), so you know its gooood! very lovely packaging too." |

Artist: LUSSU JA PAMI Title: Lussu & Pami In Total Tunnel Format: Cass Label: Huutomerkki Country: Finland Price: $11.00 |
| "Lussu & Pami in total tunnel was recorded on several afternoons in 2006 at Lussu (aka Kuupuu)s place. the sound of people unwilling to progress past their teens. performed on various keyboards and broken equipment mostly. some material hints towards melancholy, some towards moronation. the common aim is oblivion." - Huutomerkki. |
|
Artist: LYD)2 Title: Elefanta Poteket Bukentaur Format: 7" Label: Norway Rat Country: NORWAY Price: $5.50 |
| "If like me you sometimes wish to have your dusted fuzz rock built up around melodic structures youll find this little piece of pink vinyl very enjoyable. The a-side is the most intensely rocking one, starting out like an uncontrollable volcano of raw, pounding Dead C-esque noise before gradually keys are brought into the mix and distinctly slow things down to something very repetitive and hypnotic. To a large extent, that comes from the drum playing which is excellent throughout, very heavy and rhythmic but somehow seems more inspired by jazz and Krautrock than of classic rock. The b-side is more jam-like, combining powerful drumming with guitars and electronics into a tidal wave of sound where every instrument is clearly visible yet obviously a part of something much bigger. This is an impressive debut that comes recommended both to fans of throb rock, post-rock and of the heavier side of things Krautish." - Mats Gustafson (Broken Face). |
|
Artist: LYDSOD Title: Ancient Age Format: LP Label: Nest Recordings Country: USA Price: $17.00 |
| "Debut record from Brooklyn-based group LYDSOD on the Nest Recordings label. Devoted to an ideology of non-stop recording, "Ancient Age" is a psychedelic petri dish displaying the reassembled highlights of a year and a halfs worth of group improvisations . For each session a reel of tape is loaded onto the machine and the members embark on a journey led by the core unit of JZ Barrell on drums and Patrick Hambrecht on sampling keyboard. Guest players Alice Cohen, Zach Layton and Nick Anderson reflect the resulting axis of sound back at them, only to have it sampled again into a sonic hall of mirrors. "Ancient Age" contains the distilled essence of these 18 months of recordings, in one potent dose. Additional guest players include Hamish Kilgour (The Clean / Mad Scene), Linda Hagood (Double U / Smack Dab), Danny Tunick and Chris Talsness. One-time limited and numbered pressing of only 115 copies with full-color spraymounted covers." -Olde English Spelling Bee |

Artist: LYE, LEN Title: Composing Motion Format: CD Label: Atoll Country: New Zealand Price: $18.00 |
| Very cool sound-art document, based on the unique metal sculptures of New Zealands legendary visual artist, Len Lye. Fans of Harry Bertoia, Ellen Fullman, Bill Fontana, etc., take note! "This CD makes available for the first time modern stereo recordings of the sounds of his sculptures, and provides an introduction to Lyes fascinating soundworld. Len Lye was one of the most innovative artists of his era. Based in New Yorks Greenwich Village during the 1950s and 60s, Lye was a leading figure in the development of kinetic art. He designed and built a series of moving, sound-emitting sculptures that are breathtaking visually and sonically." Sound crazy people vibrate to sound and this disc is for them; its got some of the sharpest astringent zings of sound that ever cut the air, maybe because its all made with doctors blade steel, some of it the sharpest. ... All I know is that when its set up in motorized vibrating and shaking devices, and struck with strikers, it cuts a new sound groove. - Len Lye (from program notes for an intended LP, which never got made). |

Artist: LYNCH, JULIAN Title: Droplet On A Hot Stone Format: 7"/CDR Label: Underwater Peoples Country: USA Price: $6.50 |
| "Julian Lynch is from Ridgewood, New Jersey. The songs featured on this 7 single were originally created for the 2008 album, Born2Run. The recordings contain acoustic and electric guitar, a drum kit, a keyboard and Julians voice. Everything was recorded on a TASCAM Portastudio 424. While the initial taping began in Julians family basement (birthplace of the Alex Bleeker and The Freaks debut), the brunt of the work took place in an empty apartment in Madison, Wisconsin. In a new town with no furniture, Julian recorded the album. Born2Run was originally made available as a tape by Wild Animal Kingdom Records, in 2009. Julian also produced 75 copies of the album on CD-R. Since its minimal physical debut, Born2Run has been lovingly featured on countless MP3 Blogs such as Dayvanzombear, Forlorn-Valleys, Bee Boo Bee Bop, A Cassette Cathedral and Prisms of Fame. Julians music can now be found all across the world wide web, sweet messages often dangle beneath. Julians second LP, Mare, is coming out on Olde English Spelling Bee this summer. Includes CD-R of Born2Run in its entirety. Pressed on sky blue virgin vinyl." - Underwater Peoples. |

Artist: LYNCH, JULIAN Title: Orange You Glad Format: LP Label: Olde English Spelling Bee Country: USA Price: $17.00 |
| "Orange You Glad" is the debut full-length lp from Julian Lynch, following a string of self-released cd-rs and a recent split 7" with his childhood friend and frequent collaborator Matt Mondanile of Ducktails on the Underwater Peoples label. A talented multi-instrumentalist, Julian has had a busy summer playing countless shows both solo and as a member of Predator Vision, Ducktails, and Real Estate offshoot Alex Bleeker & the Freaks. This album is comprised of 4-track home recordings made in his hometown of Ridgewood, New Jersey and also in Madison, Wisconsin where he is a graduate student in ethnomusicology. His interest in Indian & South Asian music blossomed several years ago when he was living in Washington, D.C. and working for Smithsonian Folkways Recordings. This exposure to their vast library of world music has informed his output, and he blends instruments such as harmonium & tabla with guitar-rock instrumentation. Also of note is his use of circular breathing techniques on the clarinet - often a focal point during his meditative live shows." - Olde English Spelling Bee. |
