Artist: ADN CKRYSTALL
Title: JazzMad
Format: LP
Label: Dark Entries
Country: USA
Price: $18.00
"Dark Entries is excited to release the 30th anniversary edition of ADN CKRYSTALLs debut album JazzMad. ADN Ckrystall is the moniker of synthesizer wizard ERICK MONCOLLIN from Tarbes, France. In 1977 Moncollin spent time in Paris experimenting with synthesizers, jamming alongside composers Vangelis and Tim Blake. It was here that he obtained a prototype of the Korg MS-20, a legendary synthesizer. While attending art school in Tolouse, Erick met BENOIT HUTIN, who offered a studio for the recording of the JazzMad album. The entire album was recorded over a 4 day period in 1980. The sound of JazzMad revolves around the synthesizer, utilizing the instrument to all its capacities. ADN was Influenced by New Wave bands that incorporated keyboards into their songs like Gary Numan/Tubeway Army, and Simple Minds, as well as Prog Rock and Krautrock bands such as Hawkwind, Heldon, Gong, and Neu!. The result is an unconventional and discordant conglomeration of synthesizers, drum machines, and vocals that cradle the edge of the brain. Most of the songs are long instrumental pieces but when Erick sings his lyrics favor love, drugs, and science fiction themes. All songs have been remastered for vinyl by GEORGE HORN at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley directly from the original master tapes. Each LP comes in an exact replica of the original jacket with paintings and illustrations designed by the band. This 30th anniversary edition also includes a zine filled with unreleased photos, original artwork and lyrics." - Dark Entries.

Artist: ALGEBRA SUICIDE
Title: Feminine Squared
Format: LP + DVD
Label: Dark Entries
Country: USA
Price: $22.00
"Algebra Suicide was the married couple Lydia Tomkiw (lyrics/vocals) and Don Hedeker (guitars/keyboards). They formed in Chicago in 1982, and their first four song EP, True Romance At The Worlds Fair, was self-released that year. It featured a 60s Vox Guitar Organ, a precursor to the synthesizer guitar, and a Multivox Rhythm Ace drum machine. In 1984 they released a second 4 song EP, An Explanation For That Flock Of Crows, ditching the guitar organ but adding the Casiotone MT-40. The Big Skin cassette was released in 1986 and featured 13 new compositions with more complex arrangements. A compilation album, The Secret Like Crazy, was released in 1988. Feminine Squared is an 18 track compilation that collects all 8 songs from the first two EPs, 4 songs from the Big Skin cassette, 4 songs from The Secret Like Crazy, a song from the Pas De Deux compilation, and a previously unreleased song. Lydia and Don call their approach "Avant Garage" citing inspiration from Patti Smith, Frank OHara, Leonard Cohen and Lou Reed. Don plays guitar in a hauntingly stark style like Glenn Branca, Tom Verlaine, or Vini Reilly. He then adds Casio keyboards and minimal electronic percussion, creating a moody, atmospheric backdrop for Lydias poems. Lydias words span a broad range of twisted real-life observations, and are delivered in a deadpan fashion with her distinct Midwestern accent. All songs have been remastered for vinyl by George Horn at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley. The vinyl comes housed in a glossy black and white jacket featuring the cut up faces of Don and Lydia from An Explanation For That Flock Of Crows EP. Each LP includes a newsprint zine with lyrics, photos, liner notes, and clippings. Also included is a full length DVD featuring a 12-song Algebra Suicide concert from 1984, recorded at the Noise Factory in Chicago. Though Lydia passed away in 2007, her genius lives on in these recordings. Please respect her decadence." - Dark Entries

Artist: ALTRES
Title: Archives
Format: LP
Label: Dark Entries
Country: USA
Price: $18.00
"ALTRES are a band from Dundee, Scotland who originally formed in 1983. They were playing mostly instrumental, improvised electronic music at a time when very few bands, if any, were making this type of music in the UK. The bands influences included Tangerine Dream, Klaus Schulze, Philip Glass, Throbbing Gristle, Faust and many others, but their sound is clearly their own. After a few months of recording the band had a lot of material on tape, so they decided to release their first cassette Rise in 1984. Within that year the band managed to release 4 more cassettes: Live at the Tayside Bar, Archive One, Archive 2 and Angel Chords & Devil Chords. The band also appeared on the audio magazine, INKEY$ - No10 cassette. Dark Entries has chosen their favorite tracks from each of the cassettes for this special 7 song compilation album entitled Archives. Each song has been carefully remastered for vinyl by GEORGE HORN at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley directly from the original master tapes. Each LP includes a photocopied clear acetate with unreleased photos and notes for each song." - Dark Entries.

Artist: BELABORIS
Title: Once Upon A Time
Format: LP
Label: Dark Entries
Country: USA
Price: $18.00
"BELABORIS was born in 1982 as the brainchild of Finnish producer KIMMO MIETTINEN. What Malcolm McLaren had been to The Sex Pistols, Miettinen was to Belaboris. He would put together an all-girl band that looked great in photographs but were backed by professional musicians. The first line-up was VILMA VAINKAINEN, SISKO VAINKAINEN and RITA on back-up plus JAKE and MARI who did not sing at all. The backing band behind Belaboris was a local New Wave group called TYHJAT PATTERIT. The main songwriter was ESA IJAS (guitar, synthesizer) along with his bandmates ARI IJAS (bass) and MARTTI JALONEN (drums). Belaboris debut 12" single "Kuolleet Peilit" was released in November 1982. It was followed by the "Odotus" 7" single in February 1983. The band broke up and posthumously released a mini-LP called Olipa Kerran in 1984. WIthin a few months, an all new Belaboris line-up was put together. This version was a trio consisting of SAARA SOISALO, SALLAMAARI MUHONEN, and MINNA SOISALO. They released a 7" single "Rakkauden Jaelkeen," an atmospheric electronic version of 60s Scandinavian pop hit by Carola. Shortly thereafter this line-up was quietly shelved and no further efforts were made. Once Upon A Time collects songs from all three EP releases and the "Olipa Kerran" mini-LP as well as two unreleased demos never before on vinyl. The vinyl comes housed in a full color jacket and includes an insert with liner notes, lyrics and photos." -Dark Entries.

Artist: BORGHESIA
Title: Clones
Format: LP
Label: Dark Entries
Country: USA
Price: $18.00
"BORGHESIA is an electronic music group, founded in 1982 in Ljubljana, Slovenia. The band was formed by four members of alternative theatrical group THEATRE FV-112/15: DARIO SERAVAL, ALDO IVANCIC, NEVEN KORDA and ZEMIRA ALAJBEGOVIC. They established FV Video to self-publish their video projects and FV ZaloÏba - the first independant record label in ex-Yugoslavia. Aldo and Dario took care of songwriting, production and recording while Zemira and Neven handled the visuals. In the late 80s the band signed to PIAS and went on to release a string of successful albums and played world-wide tours. Clones was Borghesias second album, self-released on cassette only in 1984. The band borrowed synthesizers (Roland SH-101, Casio VL-1, Korg Polysix) and a Roland 808 drum machine from friends. Every song was played live-no overdubs-and recorded to a cassette deck over a few nights at their club Disco FV during 1983-1984. The music on Clones is meant to accompany various video installations and performances. All of the songs are instrumental and feature various cutting edge techniques for 1983. Hypnotic, proto-techno and acid rhythms and synth lines. Music on the A Side of the LP is faster and club oriented while the B Side offers a drugged out soundtrack to get lost in. All songs have been remastered for vinyl by George Horn at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley directly from the original master tape. Each LP is housed in a silver jacket with original gelatin print by photographer JANE STRAVS. An 11x17 fold-out poster is included with unreleased photos and more. After 28 years, Borghesias "music for video" is finally appearing on vinyl for the first time." - Dark Entries.

Title: Ljubav Je Hladnija Od Smrti
Format: LP
Label: Dark Entries
Country: USA
Price: $16.00
"Borghesia is an electronic music group from Ljubljana, Slovenia, created in 1982 by Aldo Ivancic and Dario Seraval who were members of the alternative theater troupe FV-112/15. Along with Laibach, Borghesia is the most successful band from the territory of former Yugoslavia who launched the activist movement and managed to turn sexual freedom into an important political issue by creating the New Slovenian Art scene. After two cassette-only releases the band recorded their debut vinyl LP Ljubav Je Hladnija Od Smrti (“Love Is Colder Than Death?) during the winter of 1983-84. The band was eager to use early sampling techniques to construct tracks from cut up radio noises and movie dialogue. They developed their own brand of EBM (Electronic Body Music) that combined symphonic synthesizers (Korg PolySix), funky basslines, military drum beats (Roland TR-808) and harsh, crisp sequenced rhythms that repeat in trance-like loops (Roland TB-303). All songs from Ljubav Je Hladnija Od Smrti are sung/recited in Croatian and use the imagery of the prohibited, tabooed and repressed. Equal parts Chris & Cosey, Cabaret Voltaire, Art of Noise and Rainer Werner Fassbinder. All tracks have been remastered by George Horn at Fantasy Studio in Berkeley. Pressed on blood red vinyl, each disc is manufactured with its own unique pattern: no two discs are identical. Each LP is housed in an exact replica of the original large 6-panel fold out poster with lyrics and photos. Limited to 1000 hand-numbered copies." - Dark Entries.

Artist: BUZZ
Title: See You Sioux
Format: LP
Label: Dark Entries
Country: USA
Price: $16.00
"Dark Entries is honored to present the “See You Sioux” cassette by BUZZ for the first time ever on vinyl. BUZZ began as the brainchild of J-C Van Thienen in Lille, northern France, ten miles from the Belgian border. He released one album in 1985, the highly limited demo cassette See You Sioux. In the late 70s and early 80s J-C witnessed the punk explosion while studying and working abroad in England. He regularly attended concerts by Adam and the Antz, The Sound, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Ski Patrol, Spizzenergi, The Cure, interviewing the bands for a fanzine. Returning to France, and feeling inspired, J-C bought a Soundmaster drum machine and two second-hand synthesizers in 1983. He started composing songs applying the DIY punk ethos akin to Cabaret Voltaire and Fad Gadget, who like him were eccentrics in a pop-rock world.
Borrowing a 4-track Portastudio from a friend, J-C recorded 7 songs that would become the skeletons for the “See You Sioux” album. The local radio station provided studio time for free so BUZZ enlisted help from the guitarist (Vincent) and drummer (Franck) of The Figurines. His neighbor, Béatrice, added backing vocals. The result was the entirely self-produced See You Sioux cassette, recorded in one take. BUZZ combined new wave dancefloor appeal with the abrasive textures and irreverent attitude of post-punk. Lyrically, they addressed topics such as the Cold War, post-World War II tension in Berlin, the assassination of Kennedy, Pablo Picasso’s minimalism – all in a manner that was as sarcastic as it was politically-charged. The overall sound of “See You Sioux” fits nicely beside their French contemporaries: Opera Multi Steel, Norma Loy, Little Nemo, Taxi Girl, but is more aligned with their Belgian neighbors the Neon Judgement and Trisomie 21.
Artwork for the cassette jacket was all done by J-C using letrasets, scissors, glue, coloring with markers and hand-numbered in an edition of 250 photocopies. Over the years, BUZZ’s demo cassette travelled from bedrooms to dancefloors around the world, and even into the purse of Anne Clark around the time BUZZ supported her in Ghent and Paris. The success of See You Sioux landed BUZZ a deal with Danceteria Records, who would release four maxi 12” singles from 1986-1989. Around 1990 BUZZ took a break, eventually restarting in 2005 with the release of a career spanning compilation and remix album. J-C continues to write and release music today with his project Vuduvox. All songs on  “See You Sioux” have been remastered from the original C-60 metal master tape for vinyl by George Horn at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley, CA. Each LP includes a fold-out, double-sided insert with photos, lyrics and liner notes by Anne Clark. 27 years later these demos provide a glimpse of the bleak post-industrial European wasteland as seen from the bedroom window during the French coldwave scene." -Dark Entries.

Artist: COWLEY, PATRICK
Title: School Daze
Format: LP
Label: Dark Entries
Country: USA
Price: $25.00
"Perhaps one of the most revolutionary and influential people in the cannon of disco music, PATRICK COWLEY created his own brand of hi-NRG dance music coined "The San Francisco Sound." This very special LP features a compilation of restored Cowley productions unearthed in the garage of vintage gay porn company Fox Studio. Spanning nearly 90 minutes, the 11 tracks (originally recorded between 1973 and 1981), epitomize Cowleys forward thinking and his affinity for mixing elements of varying styles of music. Simply put, Cowley was a musical trailblazer ahead of his time. His credits as a producer include SYLVESTERs "Do You Wanna Funk," PAUL PARKERs "Right on Target" and collaborations with JORGE SOCCARAS of INDOOR LIFE-this is just the tip of the iceberg. An early victim of AIDS, Cowley passed away at the age of 32; these recordings shine a new light on the experimental side of a disco legend who was taken too soon from us. Featuring over 80 minutes of music, this compilation contains soundtrack music from two Fox Studio films, Muscle Up and School Daze, never before released on vinyl. The tapes were restored and transferred using the same speed and pitch settings, then remastered for vinyl by GEORGE HORN at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley, CA. The vinyl comes housed in a glossy dual pocket gatefold featuring classic gay porn imagery from the Fox Studio vaults plus an essay Soccaras. For Patricks 63rd birthday, Dark Entries and Honey Soundsystem present a glimpse into the instrumental world of a young genius. These recordings shine a new light on the experimental side of a disco legend who was taken too soon. School Daze will be released on what would be his 63rd birthday, October 19th. All proceeds from the release will go to the San Francisco AIDS Foundation." -Dark Entries.

Artist: CRASH COURSE IN SCIENCE
Title: Signals From Pier Thirteen
Format: 12"
Label: Dark Entries
Country: USA
Price: $16.00
"CRASH COURSE IN SCIENCE are a post punk band that formed in 1979 in Philadelphia. The band members, DALE FELICIELLO, MALLORY YAGO and MICHAEL ZODOROZNY, met while attending art school. They began to experiment with crude electronics and off-beat writing. CCIS avoids conventional instrumentation by using toy instruments and kitchen appliances to augment the distorted guitar, drums and synthesized beats.Their first single, "Cakes in the Home" was released in 1979 and their 4-song 12" EP Signals From Pier Thirteen in 1981. Pier 13 was an abandoned coal-loading pier along the Delaware River near where CCIS rehearsed. This EPs raw, percussive sound influenced both techno and industrial music in later years. CCIS feel a strong connection to Throbbing Gristle, although they consider themselves as working in a parallel universe rather than being influenced by them. All songs have been remastered for vinyl by GEORGE HORN at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley. The vinyl is housed in the original jacket featuring stark black and white photos of Pier 13. Each LP includes a double sided 11x11 insert with lyrics, photos of the band and the atmospheric pier. Crash Course in Science go above and beyond what is considered New Wave in attitude and sound." - Dark Entries.

Artist: DANSE SOCIETY
Title: Demos Vol. 1
Format: LP
Label: Dark Entries
Country: USA
Price: $18.00
"Dark Entries digs deep into the UK Goth underground to unearth The Danse Society “Demos Vol. 1.” The band formed in Barnsley, England in 1980 from the remnants of local post-punk bands Y? and Lips-X. Between 1980 and 1982 the band released a handful of 7” and 12” EPs and the debut album “Seduction” on their own independent label, Society Records. The band also recorded several sessions for Radio 1, including a John Peel session, and topped the Independent Charts with the single “Somewhere.” Their commercial debut, “Heaven Is Waiting” was released in February 1984. They released two further singles and the album “Looking Through” before breaking up in 1986. After 24 years three original band members reunited to record the new album “Change of Skin,” released in July 2011. 1983 was The Danse Societys year. Playing sold out tours and the success of “Seduction” won them a recording contract with Arista Records. Spending their advance on new equipment the band recorded an albums worth of demos in one day at Greenhouse Studios, London in May 1983. The line-up for this session was Steve Rawlings (vocals), Paul Nash (guitar), Lyndon Scarfe (keyboards), Tim Wright (bass) and Paul Gilmartin (drums). Doom laden guitar riffs, swirling synthesizers, crushing drums, driving and disembodied vocals, characterize the distinctive Society sound. “Demos Vol. 1” is the closest youll get to The Danse Society live experience. You can almost taste the dry ice, feel the power coming through the monitors, and become entranced by the strobe-induced madness this album embodies. The Danse Society operate in a raw, atmospheric realm less campy than many of their Goth Rock peers, unconcerned with pop charts or commercial appeal. These arent songs, they are commands. This 11 track collection includes an early version of the single “Wake Up,” 5 demos that would make the cut for “Heaven Is Waiting,”3 songs that would later become B-sides and 2 unreleased instrumentals. All songs have been remastered from the original tapes for vinyl by George Horn at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley, CA. Each LP includes a fold-out, double-sided newsprint poster with photos, lyrics and liner notes by original drummer Paul Gilmartin and music journalist Mick Mercer. 28 years later these demos capture a band at the height of their confident, powerful and haunting glory." -Dark Entries.

Artist: DARK DAY
Title: Exterminating Angel
Format: LP
Label: Dark Entries
Country: USA
Price: $16.00
"Dark Entries is working in reverse order to re-issue Dark Day’s first album “Exterminating Angel” originally released in 1980 onLust/Unlust. Dark Day is the minimal electronics brainchild of Robin Crutchfield following his separation with no wave band DNA. Growing up in rural Pennsylvania, Crutchfield was fascinated with both performance art and the most esoteric edges of pop music. After making his escape to New York City in the mid-seventies, he was inspired by Yoko Ono’s Plastic Ono Band and Lydia Lunch’s Teenage Jesus & The Jerks. He made the transition into the new music of downtown Manhattan and formed the “no wave” band DNAwith Arto Lindsay and Ikue Mori in 1977.
In 1979 Crutchfield left DNA to pursue a series of musical projects under the name Dark Day. His first album, “Exterminating Angel” is named after the Luis Bunuel film of the same name. On this album the band is Robin on synthesizers and vocals, Phil Kline on guitar/bass, Barry Friar on drums and guest Steven Brown of Tuxedomoon on saxophone. All 13 songs on “Exterminating Angel” use cheap synthesizers to create cyclical, machine-like keyboard riffs as a foundation for the moody, Teutonic music. Crutchfield sings like a lost member of Kraftwerk with a dry detachment creating a starker and chillier atmosphere. Lyrics were derived from cut-up methods similar to those used by the surrealists, fluxus artists, and William Burroughs and Bryon Gysin and pit the subjected against their torments and tormentors.
All songs on “Exterminating Angel” were originally recorded at Sorcerer Sound, NYC. 1979 and produced by Charles Ball. This re-issue has been remastered for vinyl by George Horn at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley, CA. Each LP includes a two-sided fold out poster containing lyrics, photos and lyrical explanations by Robin Crutchfield. Dark Day continue to inspire the current wave of stark, eerie, processional synthesizer music more than 30 years later." -Dark Entries.

Artist: DARK DAY
Title: Hands in the Dark
Format: 12"
Label: Dark Entries
Country: USA
Price: $14.00
"Dark Entries continues to work in reverse chronological order to reissue DARK DAYs debut single "Hands In the Dark." Dark Day is the minimal electronics brainchild of ROBIN CRUTCHFIELD following his separation with no wave band DNA. For the first incarnation of Dark Day, Robin recruited NINA CANAL from The GYNECOLOGISTS and later UT on guitar and NANCY ARLEN from Mars on drums. They recorded two songs for a 7" single, released in 1979 on Charles Balls Lust/Unlust label. Off-kilter jerk-like guitar and energetic acrobatic tom-tom tumbling fuse with queasy lurching keyboards and "cold medicine" vocals. This single stepped away from no wave towards what was going on in the UK with The Normal, Robert Rental and Throbbing Gristle. After this single Dark Day would regroup with Robin on synthesizers and vocals, PHIL KLINE on guitar, BARRY FRIAR on drums and guest STEVEN BROWN of TUXEDOMOON on saxophone to record the Exterminating Angel album. In 1981, the song "Trapped" was released as a 12" EP backed with "The Exterminations (1 Thru 6)." For these six instrumental tracks, Robin went back into the studio with the master tapes, flipped them over and played them backwards. Altering track assignments, speed and reverb effects, he rode the faders in and out, creating short "exterminations" of the original songs. The result is Crutchfields favorite Dark Day release. Each LP includes a double sided 11"x17" fold-out poster with lyrics and photos and song notes by Robin and Nina Canal." - Dark Entries.

Format: LP
Label: Dark Entries
Country: USA
Price: $20.00
"Following the first few incarnations and various lineups of r.l. crutchfields Dark Day, 1981 saw the direction of the project morphed into an electronic keyboard duo of Robin Crutchfield and Bill Sack with an album of nine songs released on Plexus Records. Lyrics were inspired by various sources including occult texts by Colin Wilson and art by Leger, Bruegel, Malevich, Man Ray, Duchamp and Jean Cocteau. The mechanized sound of Window is less one of the man machine robots in charge of Kraftwerk than man at the mercy of his machines. Carefully remastered by George Horn at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley and limited to 500 hand-numbered copies. This re-issue also includes a 24-page newsprint zine Darker Days As I Recall Them by Robin Crutchfield with silk screened cardstock jackets and an 8x11 lyrics sheet with song meanings!" - Dark Entries.

Artist: DEATH DOMAIN
Title: Ethidium Bromide
Format: 7"
Label: Dark Entries
Country: USA
Price: $7.50
"Death Domain aka Adam Stroupe is a science nerd from Baltimore and wears it as a badge of honor. His sound is undoubtedly one of the most bewildering, disorienting yet magnetic and infectious slices of downright bleak takes on synth-based dance music. A one man all-live-analogue electronic ice machine (who is also behind the likes of SIDS - Sudden Infant Death Syndrome). His sound is as cryptically raw as it gets - summoning the seminal Industrial/EBM sounds of the likes of early Cabaret Voltaire, Skinny Puppy, and The Normal. Limited to 400 silk screened, hand numbered copies with 4 different covers that feature a different glow-in-the-dark letter of each base pair of DNA: A,C,T,or G." - Dark Entries.

Title: Assemblage
Format: LP
Label: Dark Entries
Country: USA
Price: $20.00
"Dark Entries is proud to celebrate their four year anniversary with release number 45, the long lost sophomore album by ELEVEN POND. The band formed during the mid-80s in Rochester, NY, while attending art school, and were brought together by their shared love of 4AD and Factory Records. They released their debut LP Bas Relief in 1986, which was our first re-issue in 2009. Before breaking up in October 1987, the band recorded eight songs that would sit in abandoned storage containers for over 25 years. Assemblege collects these multi-track recordings, which were originally made between March 1987 and July 1987. Assemblage is a logical progression from Bas Relief and will satisfy listeners who were left wanting more. The songs are driven by strong melodic basslines, atmospheric synth washes, and textural guitars. James signature new wave vocals sound more British than American, recalling the best of New Order or Depeche Mode. TIM MASICKs drum programs add an electro element to Eleven Ponds DIY sound. Their primary influences were Joy Division Fad Gadget, and Echo and the Bunnymen, as well another obscure American college rock band, For Against. All songs have been remastered from the original reel to reel tapes for vinyl by GEORGE HORN at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley. The vinyl comes housed in silk-screened jacket designed by JEFF GALLEA. Each LP includes a double sided 11x11 cardstock insert with lyrics and photos. 25 years later we can finally enjoy this set of songs rescued from obscurity." - Dark Entries.

"Dark Entries Records is proud to announce the reissue of the debut album by Eleven Pond. Long sought after by collectors, the Rochester, NY band only released a single LP in their time together before dissolving into obscurity. Their sounds a merging of post punks dark dance and synthpops melodic arrangements reflected the originality of gifted songwriters who met in art school with a shared interest in 4AD and Factory Records. In cooperation with the band members, the entire album has been remastered from the original 2-track analogue masters by George Horn at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley. The recordings on this release comprise the bands entire recorded output and the LP includes a 2009 redesign by Jeff Gallea of Eleven Pond: 11x11 cardstock lyrics/artwork sheet, 2 Eleven Pond postcards and 1 Dark Entries Sticker. Eleven Pond officially parted ways in 1987 but nearly a quarter-century later these recordings prove how vital they remain." - Dark Entries.

Artist: END OF YOUR GARDEN/DE MA VERE BELGIERE
Title: Split
Format: LP
Label: Dark Entries
Country: USA
Price: $16.00
"This split LP combines two 7″s from the Danish bands End Of Your Garden and De Ma Vere Belgiere originally released on the Replik Muzick record label in 1981/83. End Of Your Garden were a trio from Haderslev who took their name from the Joy Division song “Eternal”. Inspired after reading an NME review of the first Young Marble Giants release, the band formed in late 1980. Using a DIY mentality, they employed a sparse, simple sound built around synthesizer, rhythm box, bass, guitar and violin, which set them apart from their contemporaries. The recording for the Celebration 7″ took place during one weekend in the summer of 1981 with producer Ingolf Brown of Danish synthpop band Moral. The four songs on the Celebration 7″ showed the diverse range this band covered during their short life. After recording the Test 7″ in 1982 the band broke up and members went on to form Tristan T. De Må Være Belgiere were a four-piece from Aarhus formed in 1982. Their sole release was a 7″ recorded in February 1983 and the music was a product of the Factory Records post punk sound conveying a melancholic and mournful mood. The band played guitar, bass, drums, sang in their native language of Danish and shared a love for Echo and the Bunnymen, Josef K., The Cure and Joy Division. Sadly the group broke up in 1984 after a handful of live shows, one of which was recorded and released on CD in 2006 by Tryghed & Tristesse Records. All songs were remastered from the original reel to reel tapes by George Horn at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley. Each LP includes a lyric sheet with unreleased photos of each band and is limited to 500 hand-numbered copies. This split LP is released in conjunction with Tryghed & Tristesse Records of Denmark who have the CD version with bonus tracks by both bands." - Dark Entries.

Artist: EUROPA
Title: La Ultima Emocion
Format: LP
Label: Dark Entries
Country: USA
Price: $16.00
"Europa was a short-lived synthpop group from Valencia, Spain formed in 1980 by Julio “Nexus” Pastor (synthesizers), Alfonso Aguado (vocals, guitar), Lino Oviaño (vocals, drum machine), and José Luis Macias (synthesizers). The quartet championed the use of synthesizers, drum machines and other polyphonic gadgets in a city that was stuck in the throws of progressive rock. They recorded and released their only album La Última Emoción in 1981 on cassette, released by DAI (Division Avanzada Independiente) a label interested in bands “capable of building electronic sounds from drum machines, sequencers, synths and effects, rather than conventional instruments like guitars and basses.”
The original issue of La Última Emoción was a single-sided cassette and limited to 500 copies. The band mixed all the tracks at their home studio using a Roland Juno 60, Casiotone 202, Korg Polysix, MS-20, MS-10 and the KR-55 drum machine. As part of the Spanish Techno-pop movement of the 1980s, Europas songs featured arpeggiated synthesizers and upbeat drum machines that flashback to the sound of Vince Clarkes Depeche Mode days. Comparisons could be made to other Spanish Techno-pop bands like Aviador Dro, Vocoder or Metal y Ca but Europa weaved a unique style of driving, energetic rhythms, bouncy keyboards and soaring vocals perfect for dancing or speeding into outer space. Shorty after their debut release the band would switch their name to Última Emoción releasing an EP in 1983 and an album in 1984 before breaking up. Alfonso Aguado went on to front Los Inhumanos, Julio Pastor launched the Valencia techno bands Megabeat and Interfront, while José Luis Macias and Lino Oviaño formed Comité Cisne. In 2010 the original Europa line-up reformed to play a few select live shows celebrating the re-issue of their 1984 cassette Máquinas Románticas on Turia Records of Spain. Their sound remains clean, rhythmic and futuristically strange, transporting crowds to another dimension.
All songs have been remastered for vinyl by George Horn at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley for vinyl. Each LP includes an 8-page booklet originally housed in the 1981 cassette long-box complete with bi-lingual liner notes, lyrics and photos. 30 years later the futuristic sounds of Europa are ready to usher in another new wave." - Dark Entries.

"Dark Entires Records is honored to re-issue the debut EP by FALL OF SAIGON. The band was born in 1981 when FLORENCE BERTHON (vocals), PASCAL COMELADE (organ, synthesizer) and THIERRY DEN (guitar, vocals) met at a concert in Montpellier, France. They chose to the name the project Fall Of Saigon after a song by UK post-punk act This Heat. They self-released their debut EP in 1983 citing Nico & The Velvet Underground, Suicide and James Joyce as influences. At the time the band formed, Pascal Comelade was an accomplished musician with instrumental sketches composed for the trio. The 6 songs on the EP were recorded in two stages. "She Leaves Me All Alone" and "On The Beach At Fontana" were sung by Thierry and recorded at Pascals home on a Revox 2-track in one shot. The four songs sung by Florence-"Visions", "Blue Eyes", "So Long" and "The Swimmer"-were recorded and mixed at the Montpellier Languedoc Video Animation Center by Jean Alain Sidi on two ReVox A77 reel to reels and a small mixer. On "Visions," "Blue Eyes" and "So Long," the group employed a drum machine that could only play four or five rhythms with a single slider to increase or decrease the tempo. The songs were minimal: verse, chorus, no bridge, no intro. Built on a simple spine, they create a feeling of space with just a voice and an organ or synthesizer melody. Full of class and inventiveness, Fall Of Saigon are often compared to Young Marble Giants due to the fragile, ephemeral quality of the songs. All songs have been remastered for vinyl by GEORGE HORN at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley. The vinyl comes housed in a full color jacket using the original artwork from the EP and includes an insert with lyrics and photos. Through two years of existence, Fall Of Saigon only released one EP and 30 years later their subtle sound is an essential guidepost in post-punk history." - Dark Entries.

Artist: FIGURE STUDY
Title: Figure Study
Format: LP
Label: Dark Entries
Country: USA
Price: $18.00
"The debut album from the Manhattan-based duo of NATHAN ANTOLIK and APRIL CHALPARA. FIGURE STUDY formed in 2009, after meeting through the Wierd Records weekly party, where they would play their first concert soon after. While their debut 7" contained two songs recorded in 2009, this full length contains all new material recorded throughout the past year. For their debut self-titled album, Figure Study utilizes a carefully tailored set up of vintage analog synthesizers and drum machines. Figure Study creates a lush sound where haunting vocals echo over dark melodies that reflect an isolated and disintegrating world. Songs flux between dissonant dance numbers and more sparse, somber compositions, each carrying a sense of urgency and modernism. Figure Studys sound includes influences from such early underground artists as Kirlian Camera, Nine Circles, and The Actor. The album was recorded in their small Chinatown studio using a sparse set-up of analog synthesizers, drum machines and sequencers. It was mixed at The Wave Lab in Brooklyn by AJ TISSIAN and mastered for vinyl at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley by GEORGE HORN. Each LP is packaged in a specially designed jacket and includes an insert with lyrics. Figure Study draw their own model using shapes and forms from the synthetic landscape." - Dark Entries

Artist: INFORMATICS
Title: Dance to a Dangerous Beat
Format: LP
Label: Dark Entries
Country: USA
Price: $18.00
"INFORMATICS were a post-punk electronic band from Melbourne, Australia formed in 1981. MICHAEL TRUDGEON, VALEK SADOVCHIKOFF, STEVE ADAM and RAMESH AYYAR  met in the experimental sound studio while attending the same art school. PHILIP MCKELLAR later joined the band in 1983. Between 1981 and 1985, Informatics recorded numerous tracks, mainly in a garage, using a four-track tape machine and any electronic gear they could get their hands on. The band held a fascination for contemporary visual art and moving images and videos would accompany their live performances. The production elements in the videos reflected Informatics philosophy on sound composition: the footage was entirely pirated from television ads, manipulated and then collaged to create new narratives that reinforced the music. Between January and November 1981 the band recorded their debut 4 song Dezinformatzia EP but it was not released until 1983 . The track "Proximity Switch", later renamed "Accidents in Paradise" became popular in parts of Europe and was re-released in 1985. Dance To A Dangerous Beat collects all 4 songs from the first EP, 2 songs from compilation appearances as well as 6 unreleased tracks on vinyl for the first time. Informatics early songs have a brittle, cold, disconnected feel made by a Roland SH-101, Korg MS-20 and a lot of processed guitar. The later songs utilize newer technology and ambient, synthesized melodies closer to their country mates Severed Heads. All songs have been transferred from the master tapes by Informatics and remastered for vinyl by GEORGE HORN at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley. The vinyl comes housed in a full color printed jacket using the original magenta and grey artwork from Dezinformatzia EP. Each LP includes a double sized 11x11 insert with photographs and liner notes by the band. Dance To A Dangerous Beat recounts the history of these synthpunk pioneers a world away from their contemporaries in America." - Permanent.

Title: Occupations
Format: 12"
Label: Dark Entries
Country: USA
Price: $13.00
"Dark Entries is proud to release the sophomore EP Occupations from San Francisco based synth trio INHALT. Consisting of European and East Coast natives-MATIA SIMOViCH, BRYAN GIBBS, and PHILIP WINIGER-Inhalts core operative strategy is of sonic fidelity and integrity rather than nostalgia. Living through the rise of a surveillance society, neo-liberal agendas, and the permeation of the ephemeral into popular culture, Inhalt return with a focused commentary in the form of the Occupations EP. The record was produced over a year and a half, and mixed in both Austria and California, employing the best of modern and vintage techniques and technology. The sound is Inhalts interpretation of the border between the voice driven song form and the expansive, extended 12" arrangement. It is informed equally by the soundtracks of John Carpenter, as much as the vastness and sheen of Trevor Horn. Inhalt wrote and produced the EP in their own Bunker Studio in San Francisco. Each EP is housed in a specially designed jacket by Leo Merz and includes a lyric sheet." -Dark Entries.

Title: Vehicle
Format: 12"
Label: Dark Entries
Country: USA
Price: $12.00
"Dark Entries is proud to release the debut EP “Vehicle” from San Francisco based synth trio INHALT. Consisting of European and East Coast natives– Matia Simovich, Bryan Gibbs, and Philip Winiger– INHALT’s core operative strategy is of sonic fidelity and integrity rather than nostalgia. Having experienced the downfall of the music industry and professional studio system while working at Asphodel Records/Recombinant Media Labs, INHALT needed to create their own creative working environment. Thus, they designed and built The Bunker Studio, developed around an integrative ideology and employing the best of vintage and modern technologies and techniques. Here, they’ve honed their sound–sometimes referential to the raw electronics of Kraftwerk or the drive of Moroder disco–but ultimately their own interpretation of the border between the past and the present. What started with the split 12″ for Andy Blakes’ World Unknown imprint now continues with the “Vehicle” EP, where the brutality of the analogue transistor rhythm section meets the sincerity of the human voice.
All tracks were written, produced and mixed by the band at The Bunker Studio, San Francisco, California between 2009 and 2011. Everything was recorded to a 24 track 2 inch reel to reel tape machine and mixed down to a 2 track 1/4 inch tape. The tracks were then mastered by Paul Lavigne in London, England at Walls of Sound Mastering. All songs have been EQed for vinyl by George Horn at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley, CA. Each LP includes a special two-sided tabbed cardstock insert." -Dark Entries.

Artist: KITCHEN AND THE PLASTIC SPOONS
Title: Screams To God
Format: LP
Label: Dark Entries
Country: USA
Price: $18.00
"KITCHEN AND THE PLASTIC SPOONS formed at a basement rehearsal studio in Stockholm, Sweden during the spring of 1980. The band consisted of ANNE TAIVAN (vocals), HELENA LONGQVIST (synthesizer), IGGO KARLSSON (synthesizer), JACIE PAZDA (bass), and MATS WIGERDAL (drums). After a few concerts, Kitchen booked some free studio time and recorded their first single "Serve You!" in two days. Six months later PATRIK LINDVALL (guitar) joined the group and the band recorded their second single "Ice Cream To God" in early 1981. Kitchens sound was getting darker and heavier and so was the mood in the band. Anne shortly left and was replaced by IODINE JUPITER on vocals. This new line up recorded a few songs for local compilations. The band broke up in November 1981 before recording their debut LP. Screams To God collects Kitchen And The Plastic Spoons two 7" EPs, two compilation tracks as well as three demos from 1980 never before released on vinyl. Kitchen were part of the new DIY generation starting bands, making self- produced singles and rapidly breaking up. Their sound echoes the speedy chaotic energy with the synthesizer as its driving pulse. Annes vocals are barely understandable but they have a sense of urgency. They didnt sound like any other band in Sweden at the time, having more in common with American bands, Devo, The Screamers and Pere Ubu. Packaged in full color spot gloss jackest with a photo of Anne with bright magenta hair. Each LP includes an insert with liner notes, song descriptions and photos." -Dark Entries.

Artist: LASSIGUE BENDTHAUS
Title: Matter
Format: LP + 7"
Label: Dark Entries
Country: USA
Price: $22.00
"LASSIGUE BENDTHAUS is the electro-industrial project of UWE SCHMIDT aka ATOM(TM) or SENOR COCONUT from Germany. Uwe Schmidt began making music in the early 1980s, first playing drums, then switching to programming a drum computer after he had heard a Linn Drum on the radio. In 1986 he co-founded the cassette label N.G. Medien, on which his first musical work under the name LASSIGUE BENDTHAUS, "The Engineers Love", was released. Soon after, he started to work on what would become his first official record release, the album Matter. The recordings and production began in 1986 and took almost 4 years, until the album finally came out in 1991 on the German Parade Amoureuse label. Musically somewhere between late "Industrial" and "Electronic Body Music", yet already anticipating "Acid" and "Techno", this production managed to cause quite a stir, due to its advanced production techniques. Songs pay strong homage to Kraftwerk, approaching the early industrial dance scene with a softer sequential approach than most of his contemporaries. Matter is a hermetic reflection about the relationship between perception, nature, science, technology and labor. This reissue comprises the entire 1991 Matter LP, as well a bonus 7" record containing 2 tracks never before released on vinyl. All songs on Matter were recorded and mixed by TOBIAS FREUND (Pink Elln). All songs have been remastered for vinyl by GEORGE HORN at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley. The vinyl is housed in a jacket featuring the photographic traces of a high-energy photon hitting a proton. Each LP includes a 2-sided insert with original album reviews, press clippings, liner notes by Atom(TM) and photos." - Dark Entries.

Artist: LE TRAVO
Title: Erring And Errant
Format: LP
Label: Dark Entries
Country: USA
Price: $18.00
"LE TRAVO is the brainchild of PATRICK BOLLEN from Tienen, Belgium. As a teenager in the early 1980s, Patrick would visit "DeAtelier", the infamous coldwave/gothic club in Leuven. He would be inspired by Joy Division and other Factory releases, The Danse Society and Cocteau Twins. He gathered a some session musicians and a female backup vocalist. They recorded with live drums, TR-808 drum machine, Roland JX3P synthesizer, electric guitar and bass. Eventually Patrick bought a Greengate DE-3 sampler, using the brains of an Apple 2E with a keyboard bolted onto it. He crafted loops made from a deconstructed upright piano, hitting the strings directly with a drum stick. Le Travo made their first appearance on a split LP with Fred A in 1984. Erring and Errant is their debut 7 song LP originally released in 1985. For the reissue 3 bonus songs from the split LP have been added. The songs are coldwave in the vein of Weimar Gesang, Opera Multi Steel, and Clan of Xymox. Guitar, bass and sample interplay with piano and synthesizers with dark and forbidding crescendos in the fast numbers, and elegaic melancholy in the slow tracks. The vocals are delivered with a sense of urgency, while the lyrics are inspired by avant-garde movements such as futurism and constructivism, as well as science fiction and existentialism. All songs have been transferred from the original reel to reels and carefully remastered for vinyl by GEORGE HORN at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley. The vinyl comes housed in a glossy jacket with original artwork as well as a fold-out poster with lyrics and photos. Le Travo is derived from French word "les travaux", which means: the works, a fitting name for this compilation of lost music from the Belgian underground." - Dark Entries.

Artist: LEAETHER STRIP
Title: Teenage Demos
Format: LP
Label: Dark Entries
Country: USA
Price: $18.00
"Dark Entries is celebrating its 50th release with LEAETHER STRIP Teenage Demos. Leaether Strip is the solo-project of Danish electronic industrial artist CLAUS LARSEN. Discovered by the German techno artist and producer Talla 2XLC, Leaether Strip quickly built a buzz as one of the most exciting emerging acts in Europe in the early 90s. Teenage Demos is a collection of Claus Larsens earliest recordings. Nine demo songs recorded between 1982 and 1986 never before released on vinyl. Influenced by Fad Gadget, Depeche Mode and Jean Michel Jarre, Claus began creating synth-pop melodies at age 14. Though the melodies were catchy and upbeat they had a hidden melancholy because Claus knew that he was different than others. "Dreaming" was his first attempt to "come out" to himself as a queer kid. Lyrically the songs reflected what was going on in his head: youth, hope and dreams. Claus used a simple set up: Moog Prodigy, Yamaha drum machine, delay pedal and spring reverb. He would record the bass and drums on a double cassette recorder, without midi, sequencers or preset sounds. By 1985, Claus composed instrumental songs as the final three tracks on this album illustrate. Each song has been carefully remastered from the original masters for vinyl by GEORGE HORN at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley. The vinyl comes housed in a glossy jacket with original photograph of a 15-year old Claus as well as an insert with lyrics, photos and an interview. Teenage Demos is a sneak peak into the world of early, emotionally intense foundations of Leaether Strip." -Dark Entries.

They began the project in November 2011, technically drawing inspiration from electronic music from the early 1980s. Within the duo, Alison writes and performs all vocal elements, while Ryan is responsible for the writing and performing of the electronics, as well as recording and mixing of the final recordings. Artist: LIVES OF ANGELS
Title: Elevator to Eden
Format: LP
Label: Dark Entries
Country: USA
Price: $18.00
"Dark Entires is honored to reissue the long out of print debut album Elevator to Eden by LIVES OF ANGELS. Lives of Angels was the brainchild of GERALD OCONNELL from London, England. In 1974 he worked at CBS studios mastering recordings from tape to disc. By 1977 he joined his first band MYSTERY PLANE, led by school mate Mark Harvey and later joined by his soon-to-be wife Catherine. Gerald branched off in 1980 forming Lives of Angels as an outlet for his own compositions. He recorded, produced and played all of the instruments on "Elevator to Eden" between 1981 and 1983, using a primitive set up of drum machines, one keyboard, guitar and a tape echo. Influenced by the Krautrock sounds of Neu! and Amon Duul II as well as US psychedelic rock, Lives of Angles crafted their own unique post-punk sound. Elevator to Eden was originally released in 1983 on cassette by Color Tape Records, the label started by Gary Ramon of Modern Art. Then in 1986 Fire Records remixed and re-released the album on vinyl but the band was not happy with the mixes. This reissue features the original 4-track cassette mixes of Elevator To Eden on vinyl for the first time ever. The LP includes 9 songs featured on the original Color Tapes release. All songs have been remastered for vinyl by GEORGE HORN at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley directly from the original master tapes. Each LP comes with unreleased photos, original artwork and a lyrics for all songs." - Dark Entries.

Artist: LOS MICROWAVES
Title: Life After Breakfast
Format: LP + DVD
Label: Dark Entries
Country: USA
Price: $22.00
"Los Microwaves was a San Francisco-based synth-punk trio who formed in 1979. Their recorded output consisted of a handful of 45s and their lone LP, Life After Breakfast, released on the legendary Posh Boy records in 1981. Creating sound and music from the fusion of techno-punk, new wave pop, and electronic music, Los Microwaves featured a quirky audio theater that was best experienced live and from the dance floor. Sporting a combination of earlier portable synthesizers, bass and processed percussion, the music continues to deliver a unique groove. Life After Breakfast contains 13 songs full of teen angst, jerky rhythms, melodic chants, and punky shouts. Meg Brazils vocals are cheeky and peppy, recalling the anti-pop sound of The B-52s, Devo and early XTC. The band also sings in Spanish occasionally, making them San Franciscos first bilingual nuevo wave group. Los Microwaves toured "coast to coast" for three years. Upon moving to New York City, Interview Magazines Glenn OBrien wrote that they were "possibly the greatest rock band ever." After two more national tours, the band played their last show at New Yorks Danceteria in March 1983. All songs have been remastered from the original reel to reel tapes for vinyl by George Horn at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley. The vinyl comes housed in the original jacket featuring iconic photo by Jack Abraham. Each LP includes a 12-page booklet with lyrics, photos, liner notes, and clippings. Also included is a full length DVD featuring a 15-song Los Microwaves concert from 1981, recorded at the I-Beam in San Francisco, as well as in interview with the band and the official music video for "Life After Breakfast." More than 30 years after its release, we can finally answer the question: yes there is there life after breakfast." - Dark Entries

Artist: MAX + MARA
Title: Less Ness
Format: LP
Label: Dark Entries
Country: USA
Price: $18.00
"Dark Entires is excited to introduce the debut album Less Ness from contemporary Bay Area duo, MAX + MARA. Their collaboration began in 2012. Max is based in Oakland and has been a part of various projects most notably BROTMAN and SHORT and his current solo work as BUSINESS ETIQUETTE. Mara is based in San Francisco and is known for her solo work as GROUP RHODA. On Less Ness they worked with a hardware set up: 808 and Elektron drum machine, Moog, MAM, and Sequential Circuits synth with splashes of Mono/Poly and collage elements, vocoder lines and dubbed out vocals. They step away from the the computer as much as possible and prefer that their ideas can be traced back to the tools so that a sense of physicality remains. They find inspiration from all kinds of far out sounds, most notably dub, industrial, and various drug culture tangents. Lyrically the songs revolve around topics such as escapism, looking though cultural windows, and character role development. Some songs are a bit more surrealist in content with elements of hard realism and critical commentary. All songs have been mastered for vinyl by GEORGE HORN at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley. Each LP is housed in a jacket featuring a painting by SHANA WHY. Prepare to turn your gaze to the things in front of you and away from screen generated culture and its mimicry of social participation." - Dark Entries.

Artist: NAGAMATZU
Title: Sacred Islands Of The Mad
Format: LP
Label: Dark Entries
Country: USA
Price: $16.00
"Dark Entries is honored to present the highly limited second cassette by British duo Nagamatzu for the first time ever on vinyl. “Sacred Islands of the Mad” is a collection of eleven tracks recorded between December 1984 and March 1986 in London by Andrew Lagowski (SETI, Legion, Terror Against Terror) on synths, guitar, and drum machines and Stephen Jarvis (Pure Motorised Instinct, Terraform) on synths, bass and programming. Nagamatzu began in 1982 after messing around with old tape machines and drum boxes, making numerous contributions to international compilations and erratically releasing their own cassettes. Their name comes from a character in JG Ballards “Atrocity Exhibition” and their music reflects his influence and incorporates carefully chosen samples from the Challenger shuttle disaster, Gregorian chants and films including “Dawn of the Dead” and “The Omen.” All the songs were recorded onto a Ferrograph reel to reel in a small room at their parents house and some of the backing rhythms and sequencers were recorded first onto cassette and then the band played along live. Nagamatzus instrumentals combine stuttering bass, guitar bursts and funeral keyboards draped over a dragging drum machine beat, calling to mind Clock DVA, Cabaret Voltaire and early New Order or Cocteau Twins. “Sacred Islands of the Mad” is a complex, textured tapestry of sound full of dark electronics, fresh harmonies and danceable rhythms. All songs have been remastered especially for vinyl by George Horn at Fantasy Studios from the original cassette masters. Each LP is limited to 500 hand-numbered copies and includes a newsprint zine full of fliers, gig tickets, ads, and photos." -Dark Entries

Expanded with five bonus tracks, Shatter Days is a collection of nine songs recorded between 1983 and 1988. Featuring ANDREW LAGOWSKI (SETI, LEGION, TERROR AGAINST TERROR) on synths, guitar, and programming and STEPHEN JARVIS (PURE MOTORISED INSTINCT, TERRAFORM) on synths and bass with ANDREW FLECK (synths, occasional vocals). They cite their early influences as SPK, Cabaret Voltaire and Joy Division. All the songs were recorded onto a TEAC reel to reel in the dining room at Andrews parents house. Some of the backing rhythms and sequencers were recorded first and then the band played along live during overdubs. These instrumentals combine stuttering bass, guitar bursts and funeral keyboards draped over a dragging drum machine beat, calling to mind Clock DVA, early New Order or Cocteau Twins. Artist: NEON JUDGEMENT
Title: Early Tapes
Format: LP
Label: Dark Entries
Country: USA
Price: $18.00
"Dark Entries has dug deep into the early days of the Belgian cassette scene to release two tapes by The Neon Judgment in the form of one vinyl LP for the first time ever! These pioneers of underground electronic music hail from the small town of Leuven near Brussels, Belgium and gave birth to the New Beat and EBM scenes worldwide in 1981/2 with the release of their first two cassettes neatly compiled here as Early Tapes. Always a consistent duo of Dirk Da Davo (synthesizers, vocals) and TB Frank (guitar, drum machine, vocals) The Neon Judgment worked in a parallel world alongside Suicide, Cabaret Voltaire, and the Deutsche Neue Welle recording under the watchful eyes of Roland Beelen (Antler-Subway) & Ludo Camerberlin (A Blaze Colour). Arriving just in time to celebrate the Neon Judgments 30th anniversary, Early Tapes showcases the bands brash and seedy lyrics, with raw synth stabs and repetitive drum machine beats adding to this rhythmic discourse. The result is a combination of lo-fi technology and emotional sincerity to create a sound both warm yet alienating that has stood the test of time and 30 years later, still evokes the same magic. The 10 songs on this LP were remastered from the original cassette masters resulting in a cohesive, gritty, maniacal dance program that sounds more relevant today than ever. Lyric sheet including rare photos, a mini poster and two silk screened die-cut diagrams taken from the bands original synthesizer workbooks." - Dark Entries. 2nd edition with blue jackets.

Artist: PARADE GROUND
Title: The Golden Years
Format: LP
Label: Dark Entries
Country: USA
Price: $16.00
"Parade Ground has always been the duo of brothers Jean-Marc and Pierre Pauly from Brussels, Belgium formed in 1981. Taking cues from Post-Punk, Coldwave, Dada and Surrealism, Parade Ground channeled suffering, tension and rage through pulsing synthesizers, skeletal guitar, severe bass and Jean-Marcs expressive vocals as the most melodic and emotional instrument. The Golden Years is an 11-song, career-spanning collection of Parade Grounds long out-of-print 7” and 12” singles as well as rare compilation tracks from the pioneers of emotional body music created during 1982-1988. Parade Ground first appeared on the Nationale Rockmeeting LP in 1982, striking straight to the heart with the passionate plea “I Shut My Eyes.” Later that year the brothers met Daniel B. and Patrick Codenys of Front 242 beginning a collaborative partnership that continues to present day. In 1983 they released their debut 3-song 7” EP Moan On The Sly on the New Dance label, musically a hybrid of Joy Division and Fad Gadget. 1984 brought further explorations into the world of electronic body music with the 3-song Man In A Trance EP and 2 tracks on the live concert compilation Mask Promotion both records released on Front 242s Mask Music label. The following year the single Took Advantage/Moral Support 12” was released incorporating then, state-of-the-art modular synthesizers programmed by Daniel B. and back-up vocals from Flo Sullivan (A Formal Sigh, Shiny Two Shiny). Then in 1987 the brothers collaborated with Colin Newman of British post-punk band Wire, who produced and lent his vocals, guitars and keyboards to two songs ("Moans"/"Action Replay") while Daniel B. produced flipside "Gold Rush" on the Dual Perspective EP that stands alongside 80s anthems from Tears for Fears, Modern English, Echo & The Bunnymen. Finally in 1988 their debut album Cut Up was released on Play It Again Sam Records and featured the singles Strange World and Hollywood. In 1993 the brothers wrote and composed the vocals on two Front 242 albums Up Evil and Off. After 15 years of silence the boys released their second album Rosary in 2007 and continue to write new material and tour with their extensive catalog of dark dance classics. All tracks have been carefully remastered by George Horn at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley. Each LP includes a 6-page press kit with lyrics, discography, photos and liner notes by Daniel B. of Front 242. The history of Belgian electronic music would not be complete without a trip through “The Golden Years” of Parade Ground." - Dark Entries.

Title: Years Of Struggle Against The Lies, The Stupidity And The Cowardice
Format: LP
Label: Dark Entries
Country: USA
Price: $16.00
"Dark Entries has tapped into their Gothic roots to unearth a 29-year old lost album now available for the first time on vinyl. Years Of Struggle Against The Lies, The Stupidity And The Cowardice was written, recorded and produced by a trio of Danish 18-year olds during a weekend in December 1981. Unable to pay for the recording session, the master tapes were confiscated and the album remained unreleased until the summer of 1985 where it was issued as a bonus cassette with the Danish art magazine Atlas. This is the first and only album from Pesteg Dred, a trio from Denmark made up of Martin Hall (Ballet Mécanique, Under For, Before), Per Hendrichsen (Dialogue, Uté-Va) and vocalist Inge Shannon, who later starred in Halls project SS-Say. The band combines dark rumbling basslines with austere guitar shrieks and the occasional cello/violin/autoharp to create the perfect tension of soft/loud synthesized post punk. But what steals the spotlight of Martin Halls well-crafted production are the dynamic vocals of Inge Shannon who ranges from cold Teutonic monotone to shrill cacophony at times bringing to mind Nico, new romantic chanteuse Ronny or Simona Buja from Kirlian Camera. This landmark album could have fit perfectly on the 4AD or Factory Records roster alongside A Certain Ratio, Bauhaus or Joy Division. All tracks have been remastered from the original master tapes by George Horn at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley, CA and include a printed interview with Martin Hall as well as a silk-screened image of the original reel to reel master tape. Limited to 500 hand-numbered copies so grab one while you can." -Dark Entries

Title: Alive Again
Format: LP
Label: Dark Entries
Country: USA
Price: $18.00
"THE PRODUCT were a duo from the small villages Kvistgaard and Espergaerde, in the north of Denmark. DAN STIELLOW MORTAZAVI wrote the lyrics and sang while KENNETH NEUHAUS composed the music and played the instruments. They met in the Autumn of 1982 and recorded their sole album Alive Again over a weekend. It was self-released on cassette in 1983 and limited to 50 copies. Alive Again features 11 songs recorded in two short live takes directly onto one cassette. The Product employed a basic set up of Micromoog, Roland JX-3P and TR-606 Drumatix. Nine of the songs employ only these two synthesizers and drum machine while two songs feature a guest bassist. With these three instruments they crafted melodic, icy electronic rhythms with detached vocals. They were influenced by UK post-punk bands Second Layer, This Heat, Wire, Gary Numan, Fad Gadget and most noticeably The Cures Pornography and Faith albums. Lyrics revolve around growing up in broken homes, alienation and romance. Each song has been carefully remastered from the original cassette master for vinyl by GEORGE HORN at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley. Includes an insert with lyrics and photos." - Dark Entries.

Artist: PSYCHE
Title: Re-Membering Dwayne
Format: LP
Label: Dark Entries
Country: USA
Price: $18.00
"At the end of 1981, brothers DARRIN and STEPHEN HUSS and schoolmate DWAYNE GOETTEL performed for the first time as PSYCHE in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Their live show was a combination of horror and electronics that was completely unprecedented in Western Canada. Although Goettel and the Huss brothers parted ways before Psyche was to release any material, the masters containing Dwayne Goettels performances were preserved in the bands vaults. Now, 19 years after Goettels untimely passing in 1995, Dark Entries records presents Re-Membering Dwayne, the original Psyche-Dwayne Goettel sessions. All tracks were recorded and mixed on 4-track during a single day in March of 1983. Psyches early material is visceral and abrasive, a far cry from the sleek, dark synthpop theyd later become known for. Like the body horror films of fellow Canadian David Cronenberg, Psyche disquietingly conflate the organic and the mechanical, calling into question the limits of the human form. Dwayne, who would join SKINNY PUPPY a few years later, contributes heavily to this more aggressive, disturbing sound. All songs have been remastered for vinyl by GEORGE HORN at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley. Each LP includes a 12-page booklet with excerpts from Darrin Huss diary, unpublished photos of Psyche with Dwayne, and an essay by Darrin reflecting on Psyches past and the Goettel legacy as well as lyrics. This collection is a glimpse at the early Canadian industrial scene and the roots of Skinny Puppy. Go take a walk in the past with an ear for the future; you just might learn something." - Dark Entries.

Artist: Q4U
Title: Q1 Deluxe Edition 1980-1983
Format: LP
Label: Dark Entries
Country: USA
Price: $18.00
"Q4U was born the winter of 1980-1981 in Reykjavik, inspired by the British punk movement. By early 1982 they self-released a full length cassette, Skaf I Dag and appeared in the documentary Rokk I Reykjavik, which showcased the Icelandic punk scene. This version of the band ended and only two members continued on. In the summer of 1982 their drummer was replaced by a Roland TR-808 drum machine they named "Elisabet II", signaling a change in the groups sound toward synthesizer-driven post punk. In August 1983 they recorded a final set of demos and then called it quits. This compilation collects 16 songs from 1980-1983. SIde A features the original six songs from the Q1 EP, plus two songs from the Rokk i Reykjavik soundtrack. Side B collects four demos from 1982 and four demos from 1983, all presented on vinyl for the first time ever. Q4U began with a stylish, aggressive punk image before experimenting with drum machines and synthesizers, which almost nobody did in Reykjavik at the time. The later sound had gothic leanings, often compared with Siouxsie and the Banshees and Xmal Deutschland. Their body of work is united by the powerful vocals of Ell, who mostly sings in Icelandic about controversial, political experiences, much like Ari Up of The Slits. Each LP includes a double sized fold-out poster with lyrics, photos and drawings by the band plus a Q4U sticker!" -Dark Entries.

Title: Thought Noises
Format: LP
Label: Dark Entries
Country: USA
Price: $16.00
"Dark Entries is proud to shed light on underground Belgian New Wave pioneers, SIC, with the career-spanning release “Thought Noises.” SIC were a post-punk band from the industrial city of Charleroi in the francophone part of Belgium. They were formed by Francis Pourcel, Alain Neffe (Bene Gesserit), Micheline Dufert, and Mario Berchicci in 1977. Francis and Alain had previously played with Krautrock band Kosmose in the mid 70s. In 1978 Alain left the group to launch the cassette label Insane Music. The new trio released their debut 7” “Voltage Control” in 1979 on Artibano Records. By 1980 Mario left and was replaced by a Korg KR-55 drum machine. As a duo, SIC self-released the “Cover Girls Smile”/ “Between” 7” in 1980, which was played by John Peel on Radio 1 in London. Unable to replicate the studio sounds for live concerts, the duo recruited three additional musicians, Wilhelm Dunker (bass), Henry Krutzen (saxophone) and Danièle Daoust (synthesizer). In 1981 their final 7” single, “Free Radio Stations” was self-released and the band recorded a demo tape to help secure live gigs. SIC continued to play live over the next two year but eventually broke up in 1983.
SIC stray from more conventional post-punk, mixing the affordable Korg MS-20 and Roland RS-09 synthesizers with jazz and funk elements. All three 7”s and demos are united by strong, watery Rickenbacker bass chords reminiscent of American jazz legend Jaco Pastorius and UK bassist Mick Karn (Japan). A heavy reliance on rhythm and Micheline’s strong, insistent voice give SIC its own moody personality. More of a European group than a Belgian one, SIC take cues from Magazine, “Live At The Witch Trials”-era The Fall, Delta 5, The Raincoats and Kleenex. Their lyrics are original and autobiographical, documenting commercialism, technology and communication as we enter the 1980s. “Thought Noises” compiles all three SIC 7" singles released from 1979-1981 plus 6 unreleased demos from a 1981 recording session. All songs have been remastered for vinyl by George Horn at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley. Each LP includes a lyric sheet insert. More than 30 years later, SIC are a document of a mutant strain of new wave ripe for discovery." -Dark Entries.

Artist: SMERSH
Title: Cassette Pets
Format: Double LP
Label: Dark Entries
Country: USA
Price: $25.00
"Dark Entries has dug deep in the New Jersey basement of SMERSH to release the double LP compilation Cassette Pets. Smersh was the duo of MIKE MANGINO and CHRIS SHEPARD, who started writing music together in the late 1970s. They were uninterested in traditional notions of songwriting or live performance. Everything they needed was in Piscataway NJ: a basement full of musical toys and instruments, novelty space microphones, a TR-606, a SH-09 (Cabaret Voltaires favorite synth), and-perhaps most importantly-a couple of tape recorders. Most Monday nights, they would write a new song from scratch. A couple hours later, the song was recorded, never to be performed again. By 1981, this dedication to spontaneous creativity had already produced countless recordings, and the duo began releasing cassettes as Smersh via their own Atlas King label. A definitive Smersh discography may not even be possible, but one lists more than 30 Atlas King cassettes. As these tapes traded their way across continents, Smersh developed a devoted following in places far beyond Piscataway, leading to releases on dozens of other labels from around the globe. For Cassette Pets Dark Entries has selected 17 songs, featuring some of the many highlights from Smershs vast discography, spanning 1981-1994. Smershs sound is a lush hybrid of techno, industrial, dance, and experimental. Sometimes easy, sometime not. Most songs revolve around driving EBM style beats, intricate industrial noise manipulation and synth melodies. The Smersh sound has so many faces it doesnt fall into any one category. Each song has been carefully remastered from the rapidly decaying cassette originals for vinyl by GEORGE HORN at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley. The vinyl comes housed in a deluxe gatefold jacket with original drawings by Mike Mangino, lyrics and photos. This the first time since the original cassette issues that the music of Smersh is reappearing on vinyl format . Cassette Pets is a sneak peak into the subversive world of New Jerseys isolated, prolific legends of the cassette underground." - Dark Entries.

Title: S/T
Format: LP
Label: Dark Entries
Country: USA
Price: $16.00
"STARTER was a minimal electronic/synthpop group from Switzerland, formed in 1980 by vocalist and fashion designer Francis Foss, Claudine Chirac (from fellow Swiss Wave group Grauzone) and Jet Harbour. Originally the band also included Stephan Eicher who co-wrote two songs but departed before the band recorded their debut album. STARTER began in the city of Bern when Francis, Claudine and Jet decided to create their own brand of New Wave music inspired by Gary Numan and Kraftwerk. They released their debut, self-titled album STARTER in the summer of 1981, making this summer the 30th anniversary of this long out-of-print and extremely hard to find LP! Using early analog Roland and Korg synthesizers, STARTERS music seamlessly merges wistful electronics from Germanys Neue Deutsche Welle movement and powerful vocal stylings from French Chanson. Alongside their Swiss Wave contemporaries like Grauzone, Yello, Liliputt/Kleenex, STARTER created a new brand of hallucinatory Techno-Pop made up of chopped rhythms, energetic and almost epileptic vocals that are immediately catchy and hypnotic, perfect for the dance-floor. In 1985 STARTER reformed as a duo with Francis Foss on vocals again and Gary Grey on synth/rhythm programming. Their first single Victim took cues from Italo Disco and Bobby Orlandos Hi-NRG dance sounds and is the bonus track on Side B of this LP. The song Part of You was chosen as the lead track on the Gomma compilation CD Teutonik Disaster 2 in 2003 recruiting new fans worldwide and ushering Francis Foss to release a homemade CD-R/DVD compilation of the entire STARTER discography in 2004. All songs have been remastered for vinyl by George Horn at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley in 2011. Each LP includes a lyrics sheet with unreleased photos and a STARTER badge/button." - Dark Entries.

"STRESS is the duo of ALAN RIDER and PHIL CLARKE from West Midlands, England formed in 1981.  Alan was editor of Coventry fanzine Adventures in Reality, and Phil was editor of Nuneaton fanzine  Damn Latin. Stress combined electronic rhythms and keyboards with bass guitar, vocals, percussion, and cut-up samples. They created catchy electronic pop songs that fused accessible & experimental elements with a pointed lyrical edge in the vein of Cabaret Voltaire, Depeche Mode and Joy Division. Their first two albums were cassette releases on Alans own Adventures in Reality Recordings label. Help Comes Too Late in 1982 followed by Restraint in 1984.  In July 1985 Stress released The Big Wheel album and appeared on numerous cassette and vinyl compilations worldwide. Artist: SYSTEM LILIPUTT
Title: Harpa
Format: LP
Label: Dark Entries
Country: USA
Price: $16.00
"System Liliputt was the solo project of Geir Vasseng from the Stavanger area of Norway in the early 1980s. He released one cassette, Harpa a mini-album of 6 songs in Feburary 1984 on his own label Geva Tapes & Studio that was limited to 150 copies. 27 years later Dark Entries has baked and transferred the original master tapes, adding 5 bonus tracks, restoring this lost piece of Norsk D.I.Y. dark post-punk.
Harpa, in its entirety and all the demos were recorded in Geirs home studio from November 1982 to September 1983. All tracks were written, produced, recorded and performed by Geir without the involvement of any others. Influenced by the darker/melodic post-punk bandsYoung Marble Giants, Fra Lippo Lippi and Seventeen Seconds/Faith era Cure, System Liliputt created rich atmospheres with intricate guitar work, ethereal synths and sombre vocals. Whereas the original six Hapra songs capture a brooding and downbeat feel the demos showcase Vassengs ability to write a catchy, wistful pop song with minimally treated instruments.
All tracks have been carefully remastered by George Horn at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley for the first time on vinyl. The original cassette included six inlay cards with lyrics which are re-printed here along with English translations by Geirs son! Another piece of Norways rich post-punk past is ready for your ears." - Dark Entries.

Artist: THOSE ATTRACTIVE MAGNETS
Title: Electromagnetic Pulse
Format: LP
Label: Dark Entries
Country: USA
Price: $18.00
"Those Attractive Magnets were created early 1980 in a town called Tamworth, the heart of the English Midlands, as a vehicle for Rikk Quay (keyboards) and Andy Baldwin (vocals). They self-released a super limited cassette EP, Pictures on the Wall in 1980 and the Nightlife/Love Chimes 7? in 1983 and appeared on a Futurist music compilation LP, Synthetic Romance in 1982. Their music travels beyond copycat synthpop bands of the time into electronic realms of the 80s underground scene. There are some obvious parallels of the time you can hear the commercial strains of The Human League, Soft Cell and Kraftwerk at times but the band never wholly embraced commercialism as these tracks reveal. Although their sound takes a cue from the post-punk and early new romantic scenes, it still remains one step ahead in a unique futuristic world full of delicious dance beats! Electromagnetic Pulse is the first ever compilation of a number of tapes Those Attractive Magnets produced during their three creative and prolific years of song writing, 1980-1983. This LP contains remastered versions of both songs from the 7? as well as 2 songs from the cassette EP and a different version of the song that appeared on Synthetic Romance; 9 songs in total, 7 of which have never appeared on vinyl until now! Limited to 500 hand-numbered copies with an 1117 poster/insert of lyrics, photos and liner notes by Sam Holliday." - Dark Entries.

Title: Bay Area Retrograde (BART) Vol 1
Format: LP
Label: Dark Entries
Country: USA
Price: $18.00
"Bay Area Retrograde (BART) Volume 1 is Dark Entries first compilation of underground music from San Francisco (and the greater Bay Area) in the 1980s. Towards the end of the 70s, San Francisco experimental music clashed with the aftermath of punk and gave birth to a vibrant underground scene. By the early to mid 80s the DIY music scene of the Bay Area was a hotbed for experimental and quirky new wave, post punk, and synthpop, quite similar to New Yorks No Wave scene and Berlins Neue Deutsche Welle. This compilation literally connects the (transit) lines between these varied musical offerings and tells the secret story of eleven forgotten Bay Area bands and contains four previously unreleased tracks on vinyl, until now! BART Volume 1 features a Korg-heavy assault from Danvilles utterly obscure Nominal State; two little-known left-field electronic dance gems from Batang Frisco and Quiet Room; Berkeleys answer to darkwave, Necropolis of Love; a synth-driven drama fest from drag performance troupe Wasp Women; quirky lo-fi gothic pop from one man band Distant Thunder; a gay Hi-NRG anthem delivered by Danny Boy and the Serious Party Gods; two lesser know gems from SF synth legends Voice Farm and Los Microwaves; and the futuristic pulsing synth-punk of Standard of Living and the Units. All tracks have been carefully remastered by George Horn at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley. Each LP is housed in a large 6-panel fold out poster by with liner notes by Johnny Ray Huston, original photos, fliers and artwork documenting this fertile period. BART is more widely know as the acronym for Bay Area Rapid Transit, the main rail transportation system for the San Francisco Bay Area and the band on this compilation. This LP is by no means a definitive compilation but merely opens the tunnel to the underground sounds of the Bay!" - Dark Entries.

"Dark Entries is proud to present The Thing From The Crypt, a 16-track compilation of UK DIY/Synth/New Wave/Post-Punk originally released in 1981. Showcasing the thriving post punk sound of Watford, a town in Hertfordshire, England, located 20 minutes northwest of central London. The Thing From The Crypt neither attempts to sell a Wotford sound nor claims to be a comprehensive guide to the areas best beat bands. Like all good compilations, its essence is variety: some tracks will make you come whilst other will make you vomit. -original liner notes by ROBERT DELLAR. This compilation features 8 bands with two songs included by each group. Tracks from EXHIBIT A, SAD LOVERS & GIANTS, MEX, GAMBIT OF SHAME, FLYING BEECHCRAFT, IMAGE IN RUIN, S-HATERS, and SOFT DRINKS. The vinyl comes housed in a full color printed jacket using the original silk screened artwork. Each LP includes a copy of the 12 page booklet that came with the original pressing." - Dark Entries.
One of my favorite UK DIY comps, worth it for the S-HATERS and Outer Himalayan/ RUDIMENTARY PENI related SOFT DRINKS tracks alone (if anyone has a spare SOFT DRINKS 7" or the MAGITS 7" for that matter, please get in touch..)

Artist: VICTROLA
Title: Maritime Tatami
Format: 12"
Label: Dark Entries
Country: USA
Price: $15.00
"For our 55th release we are launching a special series called Dark Entries Editions, dedicated to 12″ singles made for the dance floor. The first release in this series is Victrola, the duo of Antonio “Eze” Cuscinà and Carlo Smeriglio from Italy. The band formed in Messina, but later relocated to Florence to join the rich musical scene there with Neon, Pankow, Alexander Robotnick and Diaframma. Beginning as a 4-piece combo (two guitarists, bassist, drummer) in 1979, they slimmed down to a synthesizer and guitar-based duo a few years later. Their sole release was the “Maritime Tatami”/”A Game Of Despair” EP, from 1983. Using an array of now-classic Roland synthesizers (TR 606, TR 303 Bassline, Juno 6) plus a Korg Polysix and Fender Stratocaster, they crafted two darkwave ballads. “Maritime Tatami” engulfs the listener with trance-inducing synth lines and melancholic vocals over its epic 8 minutes. Oblique minor-key bass lines provide an anchor while snappy, brittle 606 rhythms propel the track along. The lyrics tell the story of Tatami, a boy from a fishing town who yearns for a new life in the big city. “A Game of Despair”, on the flipside, is a haunting crawl through the eyes of a woman left by her lover. An angular guitar riff repeats hypnotically, as fragile icy synth lines chime emptily above it. Each song has been carefully remastered for vinyl by George Horn at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley. The vinyl comes housed in an exact replication of the original jacket, and includes an insert with lyrics and never-before-seen photos. Victrolas only release is a truly singular and timeless masterpiece—its from a dimension of its own." - Dark Entries.

Artist: VITA NOCTIS
Title: Against The Rule
Format: Double LP
Label: Dark Entries
Country: USA
Price: $24.00
"Dark Entries and Minimal Maximal have joined forces to re-issue the complete discography of Vita Noctis on a double vinyl LP. Previously these songs were restricted to limited self-released cassettes, compilation appearances and a sole 12″ Mini LP. Beware, this is abrasive, primal music made by irritated teenagers full of angst! Vita Noctis were a trio from Vilvoorde, Belgium in the Flemish Region. Inspired by the post-punk movement twin brothers Kris and Jos Kips convinced Kris girlfriend Martine Genijn to start a band in 1981.They recorded their earliest songs onto a 2-track tape deck in their bedroom studio using second-hand equipment they could afford: Roland TR-808 drum machine, Casiotone MT-31, Ibanez bass guitar and a Korg MS-20 keyboard. Their first album “In The Face Of…DEATH” was self-released on cassette only in 1984 by the “Much Money Good Boy, No Money Good-Bye” cassette in 1985. In February 1986 the band recorded five songs at Studio Care in Gent, Belgium later released as the self-titled 12″ Mini-LP on Mad In Belgium Records. Their final recording session was November 1986 returning to the bands bedroom studio, resulting in the song “She Likes Me” which appeared on the “Climax Productions Presents” LP. “More “arthouse” than “goth”, Vita Noctis blend the sneering attitude of punk with the spartan structures of minimal electronics. The band had more in common with the early electronic Sheffield scene of Cabaret Voltaire, Vice Versa or early Human League than their Belgian contemporaries. Urgent vocals go from a whisper to a scream in seconds and sound restless, bored and irritated all at once. Fuzzy guitar, simple baselines and crude electronics take turns accompanying the dynamic vocal stylings. While lyrics tackle weighty topics like death and religion, the landscape they paint is as playfully bratty as it is grim. All songs have been remastered from the restored 1/4″ reel to reel tapes by George Horn at Fantasy Studios, Berkeley California. Each double LP comes in a deluxe gatefold jacket with cover art by original designer Stephan Barbery and never before seen band photos and lyrics for each song. Spanning three years and four recording sessions “Against The Rule” is the soundtrack to Armageddon, very fitting in the contemporary climate of dissatisfaction and social upheaval." -Dark Entries.

Title: Cuadro Sinoptico
Format: 12"
Label: Dark Entries
Country: USA
Price: $12.00
"Dark Entries is thrilled to present a 4-song compilation from one of the finest groups of the Spanish New Wave/Tecno-Pop scene of the 1980s. Vocoder were a quartet from Zaragoza, Spain formed in 1981. Keyboardists Antonio Laval and Alfonso Olarte attended the same university and fell in love with a Korg MS-20 synthesizer in a music shop window. They met keyboardist Antonio Tenas at a local radio station and were later joined by vocalist Pilar Pellicer. They recorded several demos with synthesizers, sequencers and drum machines, creating a soundtrack for the clubs and dance floors. Inspired by the “Movida Madrileña,” they sent demos to various record companies. The band signed a deal with Aviador Dro’s sublabel Neón Danza and released two EPs, “What Happens Now”/”Radio” in 1984, “Mindanao”/”Amor de Robot” in 1985 and a self-titled LP which was produced by Michel Huygen (Neuronium) in 1987. Vocoder also appeared on the TV program “La Bola De Cristal”, presenting their music video for “What Happens Now”, in which the band danced in a supermarket with a shopping cart full of synthesizers. The group mutually disbanded in 1988 and continued to organize concerts for other groups touring in Spain.
“Cuadro Sinóptico” compiles both 2-song 12″ maxi singles as one 4-song EP. All four songs were recorded during 1984-85 at Doublewtronics Studios in Madrid, Spain, using the most advanced and sophisticated techniques of time in digital recording and Direct Metal Mastering (DMM). The band utilized many professional synthesizers of the time: Roland Juno 60, Prophet V, Korg Poly 61, Yamaha DX-7, Roland TR-909 and the Linn Drum, which was used by most Italo Disco artists. These songs were recorded in the highest fidelity with disc jockeys in mind. Genuinely catchy, Vocoder combined soaring melodies with cybernetic coldness. A futuristic sound for the modern age topped with Pilar’s charismatic vocals. Lyrically they address robotic love, disco dancing, and the tropical island of Mindanao, and sing in Spanish, English and French.
All songs on “Cuadro Sinóptico” have been remastered from the original reel to reel master tapes for vinyl by George Horn at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley, CA. Each LP includes a double-sided insert with photos, lyrics and liner notes by Flemming Dalum, a Danish DJ who introduced much of the world to Vocoder in 2008 on his “French Spanish Italo Connection” mix. Vocoder want you to barricade yourself in the discotheques and dance away the depression." -Dark Entries.

Price: $18.00
"X RAY POP are the synth-pop duo of DOC PILOT and ZOUKA DZAZA from Tours, France. They got their start in the no wave art group BOCAL 5 in 1981 and split off in 1984 to focus on their own brand of quirky synthesized electronics. Influenced by Erik Satie, Brigitte Bardot, Suicide and Young Marble Giants, they call their music "minimum naive new wave." Armed with a Casio PT-20 keyboard and a rudimentary Yamaha MR10 drum machine they recorded their demo cassette and first 7-inch "Eurasienne / La Machine à Rêver" in 1984. Upgrading their synthesizers and adding some saxophone and guitar, they recorded the "Alcool / Amazone" 7-inch in 1985 and the  "DS / El Gato" 7-inch in 1986.The Dream Machine collects X Ray Pops first three 7-inch singles plus eight songs from their demo cassette, never released on vinyl before. Their songs are short, concise and well structured; richly textured, moving at a quick speed with hardly a pause. The demos show a sense of humor, vitality and carefree playfulness.  Zoukas pouting, tongue-in-cheek vocals (sung in French) come together for a catchy, sensuous, danceable, eccentric psychedelic ride. Reminiscent of the Mo-dettes, early OMD or Algebra Suicide, X Ray Pop could be the missing link to Stereolab. All songs have been remastered for vinyl by George Horn at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley directly from the original master tapes. Each LP comes in a neon yellow jacket with an 8-page booklet full of unreleased photos, original artwork and lyrics. 28 years later, this is the first time since the original issue that the songs of X RAY POP are reappearing on vinyl again, but is the world ready?" - Dark Entries

Title: Change
Format: LP + DVD
Label: Dark Entries
Country: USA
Price: $22.00
"XEX were an all-synthesizer band from South River, New Jersey in the late 1970s. The band formed when a trio of high school misfits with funny names (WAW PIEROGI, THUMBALINA GUGIELMO and ALEX ZANDER) teamed up with some friends from Rutgers College. They released their debut album group: xex in 1980 which Dark Entries reissued in 2010. We were lucky to discover the master tapes of their unreleased second album xex:change in Waws basement. xex:change takes a leap from where the band left off at the end of 1980. DAVID ANDERSON left the group making xex a quartet. With the help of producer ZIGGY RODBERG, xex further developed the aesthetic of the first album. The seven songs here are more complex and hypnotic than the synthpunk outbursts of group:xex. Their new synthesizers, a Sequential Circuits Prophet 5 and a Minimoog, evoke the high-tech utopia of Patrick Cowley and proto-techno of Afrika Bambaataa. Thumbalinas vocals have a detached, icy quality. Lyrics revolve around species-specific adaptations for copulation, robot love and the Jersey shore. They titled the album xex:change, a multiple entendre that refers to the evolution of the group since its first album, group interaction in the creative process, and underlying sexual ambiguity. The group did not have the funds to release the album and it sat in obscurity for over 30 years. All songs have been remastered from the original reel to reel tapes for vinyl by George Horn at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley. The vinyl comes housed in jacket created by Alex Zander for his senior art project in college in 1980. Each LP includes a double sided 11x11 cardstock insert with lyrics and photos. Also included is a full length DVD featuring a 9-song xex concert from 1981, recorded at Hurrah in New York. With the bonus DVD included in the new LP, more people will see xex perform than ever saw them play live. More than 30 years later xex:change finally sees the light of day and fits in todays world all too perfectly." - Dark Entries

Formed when a trio of high school misfits with funny names (Waw Pierogi, Thumbalina Gugielmo and Alex Zander) teamed up with some friends from Rutgers College Performed entirely on then-state-of-the-art Arps, synths and electronic drums - no guitars anywhere - group: xex aims for the future, but comes across now like a time capsule from the deepest, darkest Reagan years. Each song burrows its way into your head with repetitive, undeniably catchy synth lines and vocal chants. "SNGA" ("Soviet Nerve Gas Attack"), "Cops" and "Delta Five" are doomy evocations of Cold War tension not far removed from very early Devo. But they were also capable of being quirky and whimsical. On "Fashion Hurts," "Svetlana" and "St. Vitus Dance," Waw and Thumbalina come across like a primitive B-52s, replacing the dance/party vibe with resignation and cynical humor. group: xex doesnt sound like its from New Jersey. It barely sounds like its from Earth. However, theres a certain residual murkiness that subliminally evokes the Central Jersey working-class suburbs. group: xex was all but forgotten until 1998, when radio DJ Tom Smith discovered it in the WFMU music library and tracked down the band members, which lead to a CD reissue in 2004 on Smack Shire Records. Just in time for the 30th anniversary of group:xex Dark Entries tracked down Waw Pierogi and restored the original master tapes with George Horn who remastered the tracks for vinyl at Fantasy Studios. Title: Heute
Format: LP
Label: Dark Entries
Country: USA
Price: $14.00
"Zwischenfall formed in 1982 with Michael Sass (synths), Martin Urban (bass/vocals) and Stephan Kraemer (guitar/drums)??all of German descent. They were united by musical sensibilities that combined electronic and traditional instruments developing the basis for their 1982 demo recordings. By chance Patrick Codenys of the Belgian electro pioneers FRONT 242 heard two songs and decided to record a 4-song EP for the electro bands newly formed label MASK. The Heute EP was released in 1983 after a week of recording in Fronts private studio under the direction of sound-whiz Daniel B. Bearing in mind MIDI had not been invented at the time, the recording involved some extensive sound sculpting including the use of individual synths (PPG Wave, Syrinx, Roland System 100, etc.) for separate drum sounds. To create an organic feel to the combination of acoustic and electric guitar, a trumpet and a bass were incorporated into the electronic arrangements.  Sonically way ahead of their time, Zwischenfall have a distinct sound with hard rhythms and melancholic melodies that blend minimal yet catchy electronics to create a very danceable production. Remastered by George Horn at Fantasy Studios, the EP features two bonus tracks from the Heute sessions never before released on vinyl: the uptempo ??Tausend Jahre? and ??Katastrophe? the demo version of Flucht. The Dark Entries release of Heute  will include an original press kit with lyrics and band photos and is limited to 500 hand-numbered copies." - Dark Entries.
