Title: Celeano Fragments
Format: LP
Label: Desire
Country: France
Price: $25.00
"Hard-edged French coldwave act Babel 17 officially formed in 1989. Members of the band had been playing together under various names since 1983, scrapping, rewriting, and experimenting with songs and ideas before settling upon their official name and sound. The first incarnations drummer would go on to join Little Nemo, who helped the newly formed Babel 17 land a record contract with the prestigious Lively Art label (And Also The Trees, Little Nemo, Asylum Party). The band released two albums and a series of singles before splitting in 1993, just as their peers were folding and Lively Art closed its doors. Released in 1990, Celeano Fragments is now reissued on vinyl for the first time. For fans of Clan Of Xymox, The Danse Society, New Order, Trisomie 21, and Asylum Party. 300 copies on clear blue vinyl. 250 gram sleeve. Printed inner sleeve. Includes a download card." - Desire.

Artist: C.O.M.A.
Title: Clinik Organik Musak Anatomik
Format: CD
Label: Desire
Country: France
Price: $16.00
"Originally released in 1979, the mythic synth-punk lost classic C.O.M.A. album is available on CD for the first time, ever, including four unreleased tracks. Before becoming a French pop star with Charles De Goal, Patrick Blain was part of C.O.M.A., a synth-punk band that recorded only one album, chock full of ideas, which then dismantled shortly after. Originally released on Flamingo in 1979, Clinik Organik Musak Anatomik is now a much sought-after collectors item. Some will find similarities with Metal Urbain in their sound, especially on tracks like "Assaut," but C.O.M.A. is certainly weirder and mixes clangy punk guitar, proto-industrial synth, harmonica, and slapdash electronic drums. Each song is its own experiment. Inspired by bands like Devo, Wire, XTC, Kraftwerk, The Residents, and Magazine, C.O.M.A. were the screamers on the French side of the Atlantic Ocean. Housed in a digisleeve CD with an 8-page fold-out poster booklet with lyrics." - Desire.

Title: Side By Side
Format: LP
Label: Desire
Country: France
Price: $25.00
“Kas Produkt was a key figure in the French scene at the beginning of the 80s. They proved it was possible to sing in English and have success in other countries, but they were also responsible for the birth of an electronic pop scene. Candidate emerged in 1983 from Nancy, the home-town of both Kas Produkt and Oto. The boy/girl duo (the same formula as Kas Produkt) released their first cassette in 1984 on Permis De Construire (Nox, Geinst Nait, Muslimgauze, Zero Kama) to be shortly followed by a split 7 with Gangrene. In 1987 they released their debut (and only) album for local label Dum Dum Records. Side by Side was really well-received and the band played a lot of gigs to support it in France, Belgium, Switzerland, and even Poland (more than 100 concerts during their career). Side by Side is now reissued for the first time and has been entirely remastered by Anders Post. For fans of Deux, Moderne, Kas Produkt, Martin Dupont, Dark Day, etc. First pressing on solid blue vinyl -- limited edition. Printed inner-sleeve. Includes a download coupon.” - Desire.

Artist: COITUS INT.
Title: Sex for the Wealthy
Format: LP
Label: Desire
Country: France
Price: $25.00
"Coïtus Int. hailed from Utrecht, the Netherlands. The band started out as a typical schoolboys punk rock band in the late 70s. They made their vinyl debut with a 7 (Dead Excitement EP) released on the local Rock Against label in 1980. At that time, many more p-bands appeared on the Utrecht scene, and Coïtus Int. quickly changed their style to a slower, more radical and just as heavy sound, with a barracuda bass style that would be part of their trademark sound, all influenced by groups such as Joy Division,Southern Death Cult, Gang Of Four, The Stranglers (for the bass sound) and Pere Ubu (for the vocals). In the years to come three albums were released, all on their own independent (and nameless) label, and made with different drummers:Coïtus Int. (1981), Sex for the Wealthy (1984), andRules for Making Love and Babies (1991). Sex for the Wealthy is now reissued for the first time on vinyl, 30 years after its original release. Limited to 300 copies. Includes a 12" insert. Pressed on solid red vinyl. Contains a download code." - Desire.

Title: Dark Rooms Delight
Format: LP
Label: Desire
Country: France
Price: $25.00
"After their critically-acclaimed debut album, Complot Bronswick released their second opus in 1985. Dark Rooms Delight is now reissued for the first time on vinyl. With a more polished but still powerful sound, Dark Rooms Delight is definitively the bands best album and could be seen as the French answer to the records of X-Mal Deutschland, The Danse Society, and And Also The Trees. This reissue is housed in a brand-new sleeve designed by the bands own personal long-time designer, Maurice Chesneau. Arriving in 1981 on the Rennes scene, Complot Bronswick have never been short of good ideas: alternating music, video and performance, haunted by the shores of dreams and Russian imagery from the 20s, the group created captivating atmospheres. Complot Bronswick changed with a deliberate desire to shatter an image. Even the notion of them being an elitist band is a misinterpretation for such an open group. In fact the role of Complot Bronswick was not to create a rigid world but to open up and accept the confrontation of different worlds, generating new emotions. The human structure of the group fluctuated and there could be anything from two to ten people onstage at any one time. The only real constant was the poetry and the emotion which was given out at each concert, a certain idea of freedom. Limited edition of 300 copies. Pressed on black vinyl. 350g sleeve printed on reversed cardboard. Includes a download card." - Desire.

"For the first time ever the Complot Bronswick debut release is reissued on vinyl. Released by the band in 1982, it contains four powerful tracks inspired by cold wave, avant-rock and post-punk. Title: Maiakowski
Format: LP
Label: Desire
Country: France
Price: $25.00
"For the first time ever, the Complot Bronswick 1984 debut album is reissued on vinyl. Mixing heavy post-punk and cold wave sounds, Maiakowski was written in 1983 as a tribute to the Russian poet of the early 20th century. Along with Norma Loy, Clair Obscur, and End Of Data, Complot Bronswick was one of the best bands of the very fertile French cold wave scene. This reissue is housed in a brand-new sleeve designed by the bands own personal long-time graphic designer, Maurice Chesneau. Arriving in 1981 on the Rennes scene, Complot Bronswick have never been short of good ideas: alternating music, video and performance, haunted by the shores of dreams and Russian imagery from the 20s, the group created captivating atmospheres. Artist: D. STOP
Title: Nouvelles du Front
Format: LP
Label: Desire
Country: USA
Price: $25.00
"Founded in September 1981 in Orleans, and originally dedicated to a kind of "modern punk rock," D.Stop released a first 7 the following year (to be reissued later on Desire with extra tracks). After their first 7", Sonny Brailleur (vocals) + Phil Lethon (guitar/bass) + Klod Lelook (organ, synths, drum-machines), inspired by French band Métal Urbain, stylistically transformed into a more "synth punk" kind of outfit and released their first mini-album Nouvelles du Front in September 1983. Only released in an edition of 500 copies on the small indie label Romance, the album now changes hands for $150. One year after, the band already ceased to exist -- or actually changed their name to Les Visiteurs du Soir -- to turn back to the old name in 1985 by releasing a limited MC. Despite the very few releases by this gifted act, D.Stop are considered to be one of the most interesting and under-rated cult acts in French cold wave. For fans of Métal Urbain, D.A.F., Screamers, Devo, etc. 300 copies on black vinyl. 350 gram sleeve with insert. Includes a download card." - Desire.

Artist: HULA
Title: Murmur
Format: LP
Label: Desire
Country: France
Price: $25.00
"Hula formed in November 1980 and hailed from Sheffield, home of such electronic luminaries as The Human League, Cabaret Voltaire, and Chakk, to name but a few. Hula members Ron Wright, Alan Fish, and Mark Albrow allegedly lived with Cabaret Voltaire in an apartment aptly named the "Hula Kula." Hulas second album Murmur was released in 1984, only a year after its predecessor Cut from the Inside, and what a tour de force it is. Taking in elements of found sounds, cut-up, primitive sampling and industrial paranoia, they sculpted an unsettling but rhythmic mélange of sound. In part industrial funk, elsewhere, an atmospheric stew of dissonance and rhythm. Murmur is now reissued for the first time in nearly 30 years on vinyl in a limited edition of 300 copies on clear blue vinyl." -Desire.

Title: IV + II
Format: LP
Label: Desire
Country: France
Price: $25.00
"2011 release. Comprised of singer/keyboardist David Steiner, guitarist Andrew Gray, bassist Pete Mooreand drummer Jeff Wilmott, London post-punkers In Camera came to 4AD label-head Ivos attention when they opened a show for Bauhaus. Displaying a spiky,PiL and Joy Division-influenced sound on their 1980 debut single "Die Laughing" (the first 4AD release engineered by John Fryer), the group had matured considerably by the time of their IV Songs EP at the end of the year. By 1982, the quartet had fallen apart. The Fin EP was their 4AD epitaph: a Peel Session from December 1980, which Ivo licensed from the BBC. Desire is extremely proud to release this record comprising the very first 7 (Final Achievement/Die Laughing) coupled with the first 12 (IV Songs). Fully licensed from 4AD, its the first time in 30 years these recordings are available on vinyl. Limited edition of 500 copies only, pressed on black vinyl." - Desire.

Artist: KATHARSIS
Title: Suspension Of Belief
Format: LP
Label: Desire
Country: France
Price: $25.00
"Katharsis was a band from San Francisco, formed by Daniel Malson, Jano Sanguine, Mary Andre and Tim Vickers (from 1988). Daniel Malson also had a side project, Bast, that released a tape through The Happiest Place On Earth. Katharsis was an industrial band with punk attitude, with power electronics touches. Their sound was about the fatness of the noise sound, the thickness, about the low frequencies. After a few cassette releases, they released their sole album in 1989 on highly-influential label RRRecords in collaboration with industrial/avant-garde label SSS Productions. After the harsh sound of their cassette releases, Suspension of Belief opened new sound perspectives. It mixed industrial sounds with rock structures, not dissimilar to Nine Inch Nails meeting Swans, but retaining the experimental and atmospheric sounds the band was known for. Suspension of Belief has been entirely remastered and is now reissued for the first time. Available on Desire with the original artwork and insert, the first pressing of 300 copies is pressed on red vinyl." - Desire.

Artist: LIVE SKULL
Title: Bringing Home the Bait
Format: LP
Label: Desire
Country: France
Price: $25.00
"Comes on grey-colored vinyl. The unholy trinity of Live Skull/Swans/Sonic Youth dominated New Yorks so-called noise scene throughout most of the 1980s, but Live Skull was the component in that musical equation that was, first and foremost, always about the songs. Years before the noisy-catchy anthems of Daydream Nation, Live Skull was pioneering their own radical fusion of concisely constructed songwriting feeding off the seductive potential of chaos, transforming dissonance into something alluring while pushing the boundaries of what defined a song. Many of the bands most potent and perverse musical explorations began to take shape on their second record (and first full-length album), Bringing Home the Bait, recorded in 1984 and originally released in 1985 on the Homestead label. Bringing Home the Bait extends the approaches found on Live Skulls first EP, but the feel here is even harsher, more complex and confrontational. Using the most traditional of rock instrumentation -- two conventionally-tuned guitars, bass and drums -- Mark C., Tom Paine, Marnie Greenholz, and James Lo gleefully throw themselves into the business of subverting traditional rock forms, and the result is an intensely eccentric, nearly unclassifiable record that has been called, among other things, "The Best Noise Rock Post Punk New Wave No Wave Experimental Indie Emo Goth Album Ever." Make no mistake: BHTB can be a tough listen, but its also an immensely rewarding one. The UK paper Sounds gave the record a five-star review, stating "Live Skull grab accepted practice by the throat and twist it to their own perverted ends," while Pulsebeat gushed, "Devastating, intoxicating noise, practically unparalleled among this years record releases." Spin magazine appreciated the records "highly distinctive dark, slow and dedicated sound," while the New York Times Robert Palmer, writing for New Look magazine, famously declared: "The most startlingly original array of guitar sounds and approaches since Jimi Hendrix. They make guitars do things youve never imagined." - Desire.

Title: Live Skull EP
Format: LP
Label: Desire
Country: France
Price: $25.00
"On blue vinyl. Formed in 1982 by guitarists Mark C. and Tom Paine with Marnie Greenholz on bass and James Lo on drums, Live Skull is considered by many aficionados to be the quintessential New York noise band. Together with Sonic Youth and Swans, Live Skull defined the term "noise rock" in the 1980s, spearheading the post-no wave underground music scene in NYC with a series of legendary live performances and eight groundbreaking records released over the course of that decade. Often brutal and yet strangely seductive, each of these classic records creates hooks out of the most unlikely, seemingly disruptive elements, subverting traditional rock forms in previously unheard ways that became an undeniable (albeit often unacknowledged) influence on many of their contemporaries. Live Skull broke up in 1989, just within sight of that magical moment when the sort of music they pioneered began to finally break through, but the bands recorded output reminds us that Live Skull got there first. This is the record that started it all, Live Skulls first EP. A gloriously sprawling collection of deep, dark grooves and insidiously entwined guitars, the Village Voice rightly described the EP as "classic post-punk" and "the best introduction to New Yorks guitar explorers." The East Village Eye proclaimed it "one of the best-sounding records to come out of any New York band past or present." The New York Times put the EP on their short list of the best five records of 1984, declaring, "A few contemporary bands are making music as a deliberate antidote to the burbling synthesizers, polite crooning and polished gloss of todays well-fed pop mainstream. New Yorks Live Skull, Sonic Youth and Swans... are making the sort of music rocks early opponents must have feared most, the music of their nightmares." Out of print for far too many years, this 30th anniversary reissue of Live Skulls first EP is now available on limited edition vinyl, complete with a lavish booklet including extensive liner notes by founding members Tom Paine and Mark C., and eight extremely rare bonus tracks (available with the download code included with the vinyl version). This is the first release in Desires Live Skull project, an ambitious, eight-title series of reissues of the entire Live Skull catalog, personally overseen by Mark C. and Tom Paine." -Desire.

Artist: MONOTON
Title: Monotonprodukt 02
Format: LP
Label: Desire
Country: France
Price: $25.00
"Although Monoton dried up in 1992, its entire output consisting of a handful of mini-albums and limited-run EPs, its minimalist electronica appears increasingly ahead of its time. The sole work of Austrias Konrad Becker, it was a key influence on the brand of Eurotronica found on labels from Kompakt to Mego. Becker began hooking up analog rhythm boxes and tone generators in late 70s Vienna, churning out a terse music of bleeps, pings and subsonic pulses, all plunged in tape delay and reverb. Blau -- originally titled Monotonprodukt 02 -- was Monotons first release from 1980. The buzzing machines often sound strained to their limits, yet the overall mood is somber, a palette of grays and umbers punctuated by Beckers incoherent murmurs. Dubwise is a spooky premonition of Rhythm And Sounds Germanic reggae. Muffled steel drums resound around Wirklichkeit, while Teil 2 is seared with a violin drone. Even after 28 years, Monotons unearthly, steely beauty is preserved intact." --Rob Young; This classic album is now reissued on vinyl for the first time ever and original copies exchange for $200 nowadays. 1,000 copies on clear blue vinyl. 350 gram sleeve with holes. Printed inner. Includes a download code." - Desire.

Title: Possession
Format: 10"
Label: Desire
Country: France
Price: $15.00
"Electronic arts pioneer, activist and researcher Konrad Becker (aka Monoton) teams up with vocalist Sela for a project with a mission: unveiling Operations in a shadow world of mediated realities. Operations not only gives a voice to radical discourse, but also to bass lines and a deep groove. The four-track EP covers vocal tunes from the recent Operations performance series and short instrumental pieces for Theater of Operations. Based on Konrad Beckers Dictionary of Operations, the cinematic live-show evokes phantasmagoric spheres of information environments with pulsing street sounds. The EPs imagery is inspired by vaudeville soirées, conjuring miraculous wonders and 19th-century spectacles of new technology. Digitally recorded but designed in a 10" historic gramophone style, the record resembles artifacts from the enchanted twilight zones of circling quasi-objects. "Possession" is an eerily-deep tune followed by the chilled beats of "Enchantment"; the other side unleashes scary "Monsters on the Rise" tailed by the convoluted noise dub of "Interlude."" - Desire.

Title: Anyway
Format: 12"
Label: Desire
Country: France
Price: $18.00
“After starting the influential French fanzine Atem in Nancy, France in the early 70s, Gerard NGuyen started to produce bands for the Atem label such as Univers Zero, Art Zoyd and Present, and discovered, produced and managed French synth gods Kas Product. He set up his own independent label called Les Disques Du Soleil Et De lAcier (Coil, Sprung Aus Den Wolken, Pascal Comelade), and the labels second release was Otos Anyway single in 1984, which was played by rock, EBM and hip-hop DJs. 2014 marks its 30th anniversary and Desire reissues it here in collaboration with Mitzvah Records. Cover art by Thierry Merigout. First pressing on black vinyl.” - Desire.

Title: Purge An Urge
Format: LP
Label: Desire
Country: France
Price: $25.00
“After the success of the Anyway 12, Oto, now a three-piece band, played a few gigs before entering the studio to record their debut (and final) album Purge an Urge. Produced by Vincent Hachet from French industrial duo Geinst Nait, Purge an Urge was supposed to contain nine tracks but the final release saw only six tracks. Cecile, from fellow Nancy band Candidate, even did some backing vocals. Released in 1986 on French label Divine, known for their releases of Mecano, Tuxedomoon, Fra Lippo Lippi and Minimal Compact, it was poorly promoted and was mainly sold in the Nancy area. But the music was as vibrant as their first effort and evokes bands like Second Layer, End Of Data, Das Kabinette, Grauzone and Martin Dupont. Pascal Hubert then formed and still performs in successful French alternative band Double Nelson. Now a much sought-after record, Purge an Urge is reissued for the very first time on vinyl. Includes a download coupon.” - Desire.

Artist: PRIMITIVE CALCULATORS
Title: I Cant Stop It/Do That Dance
Format: 7"
Label: Desire
Country: France
Price: $12.00
"Cult Melbourne band Primitive Calculators cut a single in 1979 before splitting in the true punk fashion. A posthumous eponymous live album was released in 1981 and that was it. These two tracks are as fresh now as they were more than 30 years ago: in a style not dissimilar to the Screamers or Cabaret Voltaire (circa Nag Nag Nag), Primitive Calculators used raw monophonic synth lines with scratchy guitars and screaming vocals, but the songs stood on their own (as the unplugged version of "Do That Dance" that appears on the Primitive Calculators and Friends 1979-82 could testify). The original 7" is now incredibly rare and hard to find and this reissue is its exact replica. First pressing limited to 500 copies." -Desire.

Title: S/T
Format: LP
Label: Desire
Country: France
Price: $25.00
"The Holy Grail of the 70s punk/synth-punk Australian scene is now reissued in its original form for the first time on vinyl. Desire is proud to release the very first Primitive Calculators debut album. Originally out in 1982 in a very limited edition vinyl including a postcard, the eponymous album was recorded live in 1979 at Hearts, North Carlton, supporting the Boys Next Door. Often described as the "Australian Screamers," Primitive Calculators were one of the few Aussie bands to mix minimal synth, bass, scratchy guitars, repetitive drum machine beats reminiscent of their California cousins and also touches of Cabaret Voltaire. This impossibly hard-to-find item is now available on vinyl for the first time since 1982 and this second pressing includes an exact replica of the sleeve -- black vinyl with black labels, and a postcard. Limited edition of 210 copies. Last pressing with the postcard." -Desire.

Title: The Only Years
Format: LP
Label: Desire
Country: France
Price: $20.00
""In 1980 Esle, Jette, and myself started playing together and soon after Sods/Sort Sol was kind enough to lend us their equipment and rehearsal room. Knud Odde (the bass player in Sods) sang with us a couple of times and he put his words to the music, and the song "Tell Me" was born. In the autumn of 1980, Xenia joined the band as singer and we had to find a name for the band. We came up with Tee Vee Pop.On January 3rd we played our first gig in Rockmaskinen, Christiania. Our set consisted of three songs that we played twice. In the spring of 82 we recorded the songs on this album, thanks to Irmgardz, an independent record company, out of which four were put on an EP and the rest were published on tapes. Irmgardz also arranged for us to support The Fall when they visited Copenhagen in 83, Nico in Montmartre in 82 with Martin Hall playing drums, and a small tour of Denmark with Nico and The Blue Orchids. Towards the end we changed the bands name to The Vanishing Point and played a few gigs under that name. During all this time Peter Peter was our steady sound engineer. The few times he couldnt be there to push the buttons at a concert, we felt quite lost." Includes a 12" insert. Tee Vee Pop were: Xenia Foss (vox), Anne-Maria Sigbrand (guitar), Elsebeth Seeger (bass), Henriette Sommer (drums). Includes a download coupon." -Desire.

"The debut LP from Tense out on Frances excellent Desire Records. The intense new duo featuring Mariana from Medio Mutante put on a seethingly infectious live show at the Wierd weekly party earlier this year, blowing us all away with their erotically violent blend of modern industrial dance music inspired by the classic early EBM and Wax Trax label bands(Front 242, Ministry Thrill Kill Kult) as well as the pioneering first wave of European minimal electronic groups. Beautiful 1st edition pressing of 300 copies on gray wax." - Wierd.

Artist: UNDERPASS
Title: Assimilation
Format: LP
Label: Desire
Country: France
Price: $20.00
"Olympia, Washingtons political post-punk outfit Underpass uses a minimalist approach to craft songs about isolation, displacement and gentrification. Formed in 2013 by Alexander Miranda, the bands creative force behind the quartet, and his cohorts, whose names are withheld due to border issues, N.C. (bass) D.L. (synths) and M.W. (floor tom and snare), create dark heavy punk at its best by incorporating large atmospheric synths, deep, echoing bass lines with Robert Smith-kissed guitar compositions and haunting vocals. Recorded in Vancouver, BC over the course of two sleepless days and nights by Joseph Hirobiashi, then mastered by Mell Dettmer (Earth, Sunn O)))), Assimilation is nothing short of a call to action. On "Stranger" Miranda recalls the cities where he came of age such as Vancouver, Seattle and Olympia that have since come and gone and he no longer recognizes due to the intense wave of development that surged through the region in the early 2000s and still continues today. "Side" reflects more personal experience, recalling a time where a friend was assaulted and stabbed multiple times while on public transit in Southern California. Underlying the record as a whole, Miranda draws on his personal experiences growing up in a politically-charged Native American family where he experienced cultural displacement, personal conflict, and of course, assimilation. "I really admire writers who can create songs that mean something different to everyone," explains Miranda. "With Assimilation I tried to accomplish this by allowing each listener to connect to the record in different ways by internalizing their own experiences and relating to it in their own unique way." 350 gram sleeve with insert and a download coupon." - Desire.
