Artist: BOOTS/C.C./SNAKE & REMUS
Title: Box
Format: 3LP Box Set
Label: HP Cycle
Country: Canada
Price: $40.00
"These three LPs were originally privately pressed by the artist(s) in minuscule editions sometime in this new century. It appears that very few copies were circulated outside a close circle of acquaintances and it was only by chance/luck that they found their way to us. Each LP contained no information whatsoever, the only hint was the name stamped on the plain white jacket. Clouding matters even further was the fact that each of the three albums bore a different moniker. Musically the LPs share a consistent solitary vision, one that treads an inward-looking path that leads to far-reaching psychedelic excursions. "Boots" is a prime example of the range of these albums. Side one features five tracks of acoustic guitar and raw vocal accompaniment heavy on the loner vibes. The flip changes directions entirely, offering a wild ride of percussion and electronics. Likewise, "C.C - Live at Rainbows End" follows a similar course, although the mood is somewhat less solemn (though no less introspective) on the tracks featuring voice and guitar. The counterpoint here is the near side-long track of barely audible field recordings from an unrecognizable location. "Snake & Remus - No Tape Outside" is a continuation of sound and thought. Interchangeably piano, electronics and percussion supplement the songwriter, adding a haunting layer to the already subdued mood. The final side contains instrumental passages of processed guitar strum that weave delicate waves. The LPs are presented in a box, its own cryptic coffin perhaps, with individual stamped jackets consistent with the original LPs. As it says, "Its just a box man"." - HP Cycle. May or may not be related to the ultra-mysterious Jim Collins and Terry LPs that we carried a few years back, and/or last years Arian Sample and Tommy Roundtree LPs. Restocked yet again!

Artist: CEYLON MANGE
Title: The Maiming Path
Format: LP
Label: HP Cycle
Country: Canada
Price: $17.00
"Ceylon Mange is the trio of Dylan Nyoukis (Chocolate Monk proprietor and sound molder in Blood Stereo, Decaer Pinga), Karen Constance (Blood Stereo, Smack Music 7) and Bill Nace (X.O.4, Vampire Belt). The Maiming Path extends from the groups previous mind melts with two side long (de)constructions that are assembled from a variety of mangled loops and electronics, guitar feedback/slaughter and cromagnon vocals. The results are a murky stew, as each emerging sound creeps upon the listener like a blackened sloth nightmare. Its the type of organic brain tangle that is rarely unleashed by the spirits these days. The LP is pressed in an edition of 410 and housed in a full-colour printed sleeve featuring Karens outsider artwork." - Hp Cycle.

Artist: KARK
Title: The Hermit
Format: LP
Label: HP Cycle
Country: Canada
Price: $16.00
"Debut album from this massive free ensemble from Louisville which features a revolving cast of over 50 musicians including members of Sapat, Valley of Ashes, Virgin Eye Blood Brothers, Son of Earth, Taiwan Death and the Belgian Waffles. The Hermit consists of three extended pieces that offer spaciously abstract atmospheres as well as moments of righteous cacophony. Utilizing a multitude of brass, reeds and percussion the album careens through numerous passages where intricate harmonics are created from the densely layered sounds. When the full force of the ensemble is unleashed individual elements appear and quickly recede into the squall. As the music nearly becomes unhinged, the sound disintegrates into a godzilla-like rockist thud propelled by the rhythm section and soaring horns before drifting to a sparse conclusion. The LP comes in a full colour jacket with homespun artifacts gracing the cover." - HP Cycle.

Artist: LSD MARCH
Title: Kanashimino Bishounen
Format: LP
Label: HP Cycle
Country: Canada
Price: $13.50
"Kanashimino Bishounen is the third album proper from LSD March following a pair of Japanese only releases on the Gyunne Cassette and White Elephant labels. These live recordings performed by the trio of Shinsuke Michishita (voice, guitar), Masami Kawaguchi (guitar) and Ikuro Takahashi (drums) feature five tracks that encompass a free form psychedelic approach to music that is inimitable in spite of its customary points of origin. Song structures are loosely pieced together and are distinguished by elevated guitar work and washes of glorious noise. The music is as expansive as it is destructive. Pressed in an edition of 415 and housed in a beautiful B&W printed jacket." - HP Cycle.

Artist: MANIACS DREAM
Title: Die, Learn, No Way
Format: LP
Label: HP Cycle
Country: Canada
Price: $15.00
"While sharing the zoned-out sensibility of their brethren (Avarus, The Anaksimandros, Pylon, etc.), Maniacs Dream distinguish themselves with a more eclectic, electric and raucous sound. Their musical vision is archaic and demented, providing the listener with a sonic interpretation of the groups namesake. It is something that can only be experienced, not learned. The tracks on Die, Learn, No Way are driven by ramshackle drumming, repetitive guitar riffs and gurgling/floating electronics - with the occasional mumbled vocal and scraped string thrown in for good measure. The LP is pressed in an edition of 420 and housed in a full colour printed sleeve with incredibly surreal and playful artwork." - HP Cycle.

Artist: MAUSIM
Title: s/t
Format: CD
Label: HP Cycle
Country: Canada
Price: $12.00
"Two tracks capturing live/archival recordings of MAUSIM in its initial phase. Four guitars coagulate into a dense psychedelic mass...emerging from the squall are soaring sounds which disintegrate into an overpass pile-up. Only the rhythm of wind remains. Pressed in an edition of 300 copies and packaged in wood, twine, canvas, etc." - HP Cycle.

Artist: SHACKAMAXON
Title: Shackamaxon
Format: LP
Label: HP Cycle
Country: Canada
Price: $16.00
"Shackamaxon began back in 2001 when members of Double Leopards, Son of Earth and Magik Markers united to record and create music together. Since that time, the ensemble has quietly unleashed their psychedelic drift through a handful of live performances and a self-released CDr. Their self-titled debut LP presents four pieces of restrained beauty that encapsulates the Shackamaxon sound. The album begins with a side-long excursion where sparse organic textures become enveloped in cavernous layers of sound and perpetually fuzzed drones. It is a steady swell which builds to immense heights before fading into the expanse. Side two starts off with a brief introduction of fluttering tones, then diverges into an intricate passage of controlled feedback chatter and subtle reverberations. The album concludes with what sounds like a field recording from an alien rain forest, capturing strange creatures chirping and gurgling as the humidity drips from the canopy. ..beautiful cover art by Amy Borezo." - HP Cycle.

Artist: YAZIJIAN, ED
Title: Gansrud
Format: LP
Label: HP Cycle
Country: Canada
Price: $18.00
"Second solo full-length from Ed Yazijian, also known for his long running but sparsely documented collaborations with Dredd Foole, featuring eight disparate tracks recorded between 1996 and 2009. Each side starts off with some slow burning guitar (accented by bowed contrabass and violin on side two) that reverberates with an ease past midnight vibe. The album then weaves through a personalized space featuring eastern percussion, mainlined/cosmic violin drones and intercepted radio transmissions from an unknown origin. The record concludes with a contemplative guitar which is enveloped in tape hiss that eases its way in before fading away. The LP pressed in an edition of 350 copies and is presented in a full colour printed sleeve that is at one itself and with the spirits an opaque facsimile." - HP Cycle.

Artist: YOUNGS, RICHARD & ALEX NEILSON
Title: Beating Stars
Format: LP
Label: HP Cycle
Country: Canada
Price: $14.00
"Beating Stars is the second release by Richard Youngs and Alexander Neilson and finds the duo working a celestial vibe over the albums four tracks. The LP begins with a cosmic folk interpretation of the traditional "Rolling In The Dew", with Richards voice transplanted amongst electronics, acoustic clatter and steady minimal percussion. From there the record ventures into more abstract territories where hovering electronics, searing guitar and explosive drumming all meld into a psychedelic haze. The album concludes with the side-long "Sent Onto The Stream", a twenty-two minute journey of skittering percussion and sustained tones of bent frequencies. Pressed in an edition of 420." - HP Cycle.

Artist: YOUNGS, RICHARD & TIRATH SINGH NIRMALA
Title: s/t
Format: LP
Label: HP Cycle
Country: Canada
Price: $16.00
"Debut album from the duo of Richard Youngs and Tirath Singh Nirmala (nee John Clyde-Evans) that has the pair creating a bucolic minimalist meditation. Side one interchangeably features hammered strings, gong/cymbal washes, droning vocals, and breathed shackuhachi/flutes. The second side leads with a melodious encounter before delving further into a glimmering psychedelia with sawed strings, fluttering reed organ and electronic drift. The results resemble a non-western approach to traditional musics filtered through the personalized aesthetic that runs through each of the artist?s prior works. The LP is enclosed in a full colour cover with suitable "of the earth" imagery." - HP Cycle.
