Artist: AXIS: SOVA
Title: Past the Edge
Format: 7"
Label: Richie
Country: USA
Price: $7.00
"Two-shot blast from this dazzling low-culture, high-impact unit from Chicago. "Past the Edge" smacks ya around with Martin Revs suicidal pulse and the type of twisted fretboard abuse that warrants enough respect to keep us from mocking Helios Creeds cowboy hat to his face. "Grading on a Curve" is the soundtrack to an uninvited chemically-induced journey. A bad one." -Richie.

Artist: BIRDS OF MAYA
Title: Ready To Howl
Format: Double LP
Label: Richie
Country: USA
Price: $21.00
"Here it is. Its the most ambitious TestosterTunes release to date: a three-song, double-LP by the three men of Philadelphias BIRDS OF MAYA. Its called Ready To Howl and its the soundtrack to an upcoming feature length film of the same name. Formed in 2002, Birds of Maya is the finest meat n potatoes Neanderthal rock group operating today, and theyre undoubtedly the outfit most committed to creating throbbing, thoroughly relentless, blues-based hard rock. Astute listeners will note nods to the fried power-rock of Split-era Groundhogs or the relentless garage mayhem of High Rise recorded under claustrophobic sub-Funhouse decadence. Anyone with ears will hear fried-Hendrixisms all over this thing." - Richie.

Artist: BIRDS OF MAYA
Title: Regulation
Format: 7"
Label: Richie
Country: USA
Price: $6.50
"Not ones to usually hit the road, Birds of Maya stormed the Midwest in May, and if you checked their merch table, this limited and unassuming little single was probably laying right next to Ready to Howl. ⿿Regulation⿝ is a heavy blues jam in the classic Birds of Maya style, but its special in that local man-about-town Harmonica Dan sits in on their session (Ill give you one guess what he plays). Dan doesnt mess around, he just takes off his backpack, cracks open a tallboy and blows harder than an office fan, psychically connected to Birds of Maya and the bluesy groove they stand for. Its pretty smoking and serves as an excellent petition to recruit him as a full-time member. The untitled b-side is sweet (a nice pairing to the savory a-side), starting off with some psychedelic swirl and guitar noodling, almost veering into art-drone territory (not that its a bad thing), but just as Im ready to put on my Keiji Haino wig and smoke a clove, it kicks right back into a standard Birds of Maya stoner riff with Harmonica Dan riding the rails once more. Not sure how easy this 7? will be to find, if it was tour-only or what, but please, make it your mission." - Richie.

Artist: FACTORYMEN
Title: Yellow Eyes & The Sound of Vomit
Format: 12"
Label: Richie
Country: USA
Price: $16.00
"More Mensa material from the Rust Belt. FACTORYMEN is a sociopathic, meticulously crafted studio project that centers around Steve Peffer (Homostupids, Folded Shirt, Pleasure Leftists, etc.). It involves the targeted misuse of Rock & even Dance Music instruments and its certain to test the patience of your roommate, lover, or father. Yellow Eyes & The Sound of Vomit is an obtuse, off-putting, though catchy mini-album. These are the types of tunes that will roll around in your empty head and youll recall them, with horror, as you wait for the bus or write a check for rent or when you beg for forgiveness from your boss after your latest fuck-up. This record is the soundtrack to unpleasantness. 305 copies. Covers silk-screened by Neil Burke at Monoroid. Includes mp3 download for Yellow Eyes... + Shitman + the debut FACTORYMEN 45 on My Minds Eye Records." - Richie.

Artist: FNU RONNIES
Title: Meat
Format: 7"
Label: Richie
Country: USA
Price: $5.00
"FNU Ronnies aint in no way Chrome obsessed unless you call takin a huge shit on Helios Creeds head a form of tribute. The lip moves these guys gabble forth slur around the atmosphere like a mistve toxic mold spores before dropping into the wanton wire n drum carnage & the whole thing sounds like a drunken Borg short-circuiting to a lethal mix of equal parts Deutch-Amerikanischen Freundschafts debut & Wires Pink Flag. This one needs to heard to be coveted." -Siltblog

Artist: FNU RONNIES
Title: S/T
Format: 7"
Label: Richie
Country: USA
Price: $5.50
"This record has been in the works for a little while now and we couldnt be more happy to see it finally out. FNU Ronnies find home turf in both Philly and Oakland and have a previous 7inch on Richie Records. This 12" contains the same material as the recent cassette/CD on Denmarks Skrot Up label but we think youll find the reissue well worth it. Deluxe art work by band member Jim Vail with silkscreening by Shawn Reed, FNU Ronnies are a weird almost indescribable mix of fucked up hardcore propulsion, industrial heaviness, electronics thrashing, and punked out cyborg nihilism. Aesthetic themes elude to psychedelic nightmares, Middle Earth monsters, and generally dark times. Seeing this band live last summer was a revelation into how musical genres could be mutated into something truly unpredictable and inspiring." - Richie.

Artist: HOME BLITZ
Title: Foremost & Fair
Format: LP
Label: Richie
Country: USA
Price: $15.00
"The fractured, ballsy electric guitar pop from Dan DiMaggios outfit defines the form. Anybody who has been paying attention already knows that the Home Blitz name is a trademark of quality stamped on a handful of singles and EPs, as well as their jaw-dropping album on the Richie Records label. Foremost & Fair continues the trajectory of those records, achieving heights of fidelity, craft and fretwork dexterity that will continue to elude humbuggers, ham n eggers, and all the other-butter-users for years to come. DiMaggio and the Home Blitz name have rightfully been pegged to the tradition of prolific, idiosyncratic punk-qua-pop individualists, but if youre looking for a convenient reference, you wont find it in this little write-up. Home Blitz stands alone." - Richie.

Artist: HOME BLITZ
Title: Out Of Phase
Format: CD
Label: Richie
Country: USA
Price: $10.00
"Heres the music that weve all been waiting for. Its called ⿿Out of Phase⿝ and its first full-length album from NJs HOME BLITZ. Negotiating this deal took all types of backroom dealing and late-night, unsavory tactics. Some egos may have been bruised, but the slugfest was worth the coup in welcoming this high-profile act to the RR//TT roster. ⿿Out of Phase⿝ forges a blazing 13 track romp through hard rock, power-pop, and even oi territories, and its got some of the crispest licks since Meat Puppets II (or Priests Defenders of the Faith). HOME BLITZ broke out a few years ago as the recording project of Daniel DiMaggio, an under-aged jock on Princetons WPRB known for compiling playlists of deep depth and wide breadth. Early singles showed flippant naïviete and early live shows (with a somewhat stable backing band), were marked by purposeful self-implosion. This time around, HB trucks ahead with straight up, timeless, rock tunes." -Richie

Title: The Brutal Birthday E.P.
Format: 7"
Label: Richie
Country: USA
Price: $6.00
"This is the 2nd 7" the Homostupids have released this yr & while the 1st one mightve filled the void left since Iron Cross slammed into the cement, this one practically recalls Chromes hallucinatory transformation from demi-god to deity in the sonic, thunderous moments between Alien Soundtracks & Half Machine Lip Moves. Word has it that these tracks actually precede those laid down on their debut & as good as that is, I prefer the yak off this one a whole lot more. And its all there on one side too, 6 tracks worth. No flipping!" - SIltblog.

Artist: KING BLOOD
Title: Vengeance, Man
Format: LP
Label: Richie
Country: USA
Price: $17.00
"Second offering from KING BLOOD & its a motherfucker. Throbbing, claustrophobic, triumphant, room shaking, and chiming electric guitar worship. The type of record thatll lodge into your head & reduce your mind to a luminous toxic jelly. Enters the static void alongside Earth, Skullflower, & Les Rallizes Denudes. 320 copies." - Richie.

On KING BLOODs debut Eyewash Silver, Marc Masters at Pitchfork: "There are at least two ways to look at a guitar riff-- as a building block for a song, or as an end in itself. Ryland Wharton, aka King Blood, has taken the latter viewpoint to a mesmerizing extreme. he treats fuzzy guitar riffs not simply as ends, but as mantras to be chanted and monuments to be worshiped. Each track offers one simple figure devoutly repeated, as if musical nirvana is always just one more riff away.... The album drips with overload, creating a raw, gut-level immediacy. The idea behind each song is delivered unwashed and unrefined. In that sense, Eyewash Silver reminds me of Neil Young, particularly his solo guitar soundtrack to Jim Jarmuschs 1995 existential western Dead Man. Whartons songs arent nearly as sparse or forlorn as Youngs score, but both share a near-anthropological fascination with the primal force of repeated notes. (Besides, the swinging hooks of "Poison in Jest" and "Sinfull Woman" sound extracted and extended from Crazy Horse tunes). Youll hear other reference points throughout Eyewash Silver-- the noisy wash of Japanese bands like Fushitsusha and Les Rallizes Denudes, the motor-garage of Wooden Shjips, and, on the near-perfect "End of a Primitive", the classic amp-melt of great Velvet Underground bootlegs. But I keep coming back to Young and his exploratory wanderings, a standard to which Wharton measures up well."

Artist: MORDECAI
Title: College Rock
Format: LP
Label: Richie
Country: USA
Price: $15.00
"College Rock is the rabidly anticipated new full-length from MORDECAI, the most charismatically tuneful knuckle-draggers in Missoula; quite possibly in all of Montana. The album cruises and plods across twelve tunes that recall the rougher trades coming out of the UK, the early squall of Clevelands proto-punk merchants and the reckless abandon of Will Shatter and crew. This rock trio lacks pretense; their power comes from the electric joy of plugging in and turning up. Geographic isolation works in their favor, as guys of Mordecais talent and vision would surely have been chewed up and spit out long ago by a more populous metropolis. Instead, College Rock proves that at least a few residents of Silver Bow County can teach a lesson in urban detachment. For fans of Rocket From the Tombs, The Fall, Cheater Slicks, broken strings, late-night noise, etc." -Richie.

Artist: PURLING HISS
Title: Hissteria
Format: LP
Label: Richie
Country: USA
Price: $17.00
"Well its finally here. Its the new LP by PURLING HISS and its called Hissteria. Its two sides of hi-energy psychedelic punk rock & roll that manages to weld Funhouses dialed-in sleaze rhythms to the hungover excess of Hendrix at Woodstock. Or Ginn at Polliwog Park. Its full of clanging cymbals, howling vocals, fretboard heroics, and menacing vibes. PURLING HISS is the work of a well-mannered longhair named MIKE POLIZZE, who is best known for his reckless shredding as the guitar player for Philadelphias BIRDS OF MAYA. Hissteria is a suitable soundtrack for zonked drives across the dead highways of the USA. Or for predawn paranoid sessions as you pace back and forth in the kitchen trying figure out just what the hell youre going to do, man. Or just crank it real loud when the party gets strange. Some people will love it and the rest of them can go somewhere else and go fuck themselves." - Richie Records

Artist: PURLING HISS
Title: Paisley Montage
Format: LP
Label: Richie
Country: USA
Price: $15.00
"Paisley Montage is a slight return to the red-hot, fried n twisted garage / psych / punk blasts one has come to expect from MIKE POLIZZEs PURLING HISS. Hes way off the leash on this one, up Hiss creek with nobody to paddle home. Recorded in various Philadelphia-area basements and mens rooms over the course of 2007-2011, the sessions were stunted and aborted as each successive borrowed practice amp blew smoke and crapped out under the strain of Polizzes fiery fret work. Paisley Montage was originally a cassette-only release, but just about every tape was quickly scattered and smashed along the Schuykill Expressway after being left on the roof of the tour van. Richie presents a more widely available incarnation, pressed in a vinyl-only edition of 500 copies. Includes a download." -Richie.

Artist: SPACIN
Title: Deep Thuds
Format: LP
Label: Richie
Country: USA
Price: $19.00
"Debut LP from SPACIN, the newly formed Philadelphia act thats bringing together kick-flippers, arm-wrestlers, and hackey-sackers in head-nodding, beer swilling unity. Inhales the same fumes that fuel the Velvets workout at the gymnasium, the Stooges sleazy-fuzz with Asheton on guitar, and the groovy zen of Nigeria 70." - Richie.

"The first pearl bestowed upon us in the form of a side project from Philadelphias finest gnarled-out Psych trio Birds of Maya was guitarist Mike Polizzes Purling Hiss, and now we have bass player Jason Killinger with his very killer and very screwy new project, Spacin. Originally a basement-only solo thing consisting of Killinger playing guitar through a pyramid of amps accompanied by a drum machine, Spacin has started to squeak itself above ground and into the barrooms of the city with a fully functioning lineup. The dude doesnt even need the drum machine anymore; hes got his wife Eva pounding the skins! Sneak previews of their upcoming debut full-length Deep Thuds, shows a unit who knows the economic gain to be had from a good, hypnotic riff. For those who have ever gotten lost for days in the strains of the Velvet Undergrounds "Sister Ray," Jonathan Richmans "Roadrunner," Hawkwinds "Silver Machine" or even Deep Purples "Space Truckin," repeated listening to Spacin is required in excessive doses." - Tony Rettman, Philadelphia Weekly.

Artist: STRAPPING FIELDHANDS
Title: Impossible To Say / Whiskers
Format: 7"
Label: Richie
Country: USA
Price: $7.00
350 copies. "Back in the rough n tumble days (and nights) of the 1990s, youd be hard pressed to find a single slobbering indierock drunkard who wasnt a Fieldhands fan. From the tremendous early Siltbreeze singles to the magnificent Omphalos full lengths, the galaxy and beyond were charmed by their wayward off kilter pre/post skiffle, pre/post psychedelic, and pre/post punk avant pop. Bob Malloy crafted swaying bizarre stories & fables in a fake British accent as convincing as a perfectly fitting Toupee. But aside from 2002s unsung and virtually unheard Third Kingdom, all has been seemingly quiet in Fieldhands land. But aha! Theyve only been slumbering, laying in wait writing and recording. Which brings us here. Two brand new songs. One is a lively and scrappy, yet wistful anthem, perfect for hoisting a pint with the lads. The other is a tender Ray Daviesian ballad about a bearded lady. Hey, youre the one who asked!" - Richie.

Artist: TACO LEG
Title: Printed Gold
Format: 7"
Label: Richie
Country: USA
Price: $6.50
"Three new songs from TACO LEG, ambassadors from the city of Perth, a seaside burg in Western Australia which, as any visitor can confirm, served as a model for The Village to which Number Six has been condemned. The principle mode of travel is hot-air balloon & the locals cheer a longneck of VB with a salute to favorite son Gus Chambers. Its a strange, isolated district inhabited by a society just a little too askew for general population. Taco Leg visited all the major United States markets in late 2010, and this is the first blast weve heard from the guys since that historic trip. Its also a preview to the forthcoming album on the Fan Death label. Printed Gold is a buzzy single-noting headbanger and it shows all the confidence of a Ryan Howard home-run. In fact, in a tribute to his American fans of the diamond, the guitar player wore batting gloves for the recording session. A certain high-ranking Aussie musician and writer pointed out to the band that their approach has a lot in common with FANG. The guys not only took the trouble to figure out just who the hell is Fang, they even learned the bands most memorable tune & put it to tape. The result? An interpretation of The Money Will Roll Right In thats a few degrees drier, more inspired, & more determined than the original. Certainly, these guys stand a chance at the film career that proved elusive to Sammytown & that crowd." -Richie.

Artist: VILE, KURT & THE VIOLATORS
Title: The Hunchback E.P.
Format: 12"
Label: Richie
Country: USA
Price: $13.00
"Heres the timeless record for 2009. Electric studio (mostly) recordings from Philadelphias Constant Hitmaker. New fans of his last CD will cry into their pillows and accuse him of selling out the bedroom rock scene. The initiated few will know hes been doing it for years plugging in with a full on rock band called the Violators and gigging in all corners of Philly. With baritone guitar/bassist Adam Granduciel, rodeo slide & fuzz guitar from Jesse Turbo, and perfect percussion from Mike Zeng, the Violators are Kurts Crazy Horse, slugging it out with him when he feels like playing with a full band. Oddly pleasant singing, in-the-red fingerpicking, twisting swells of feedback, totally POUNDING drums, and Krautlike-zen fill both sides of this record. Loud and proud, The Hunchback E.P. looks right filed next to your Neil, Faust, and Spacemen 3 records." -Richie

Artist: VIOLENT STUDENTS
Title: Party Addiction
Format: LP
Label: Richie
Country: USA
Price: $12.00
"Heres the last gasp effort from VIOLENT STUDENTS, a defunct Philadelphia-based black hole Punk / HC outfit whose wasters have been and continue to be involved in some arguably more-refined and mature projects. This self-medicated, throbbing set was recorded live at their final gig inside a South Philadelphia firetrap before a crowd of black-clad pencil-necked geeks that shrank with each passing tic of the metronome. Most of those intensely posed youngsters left too early to witness an exploratory stomp through “Seekers of the Truth”. The Students here are joined by BLUES CONTROLs Lea Cho, who was a last second replacement on guitar when Jim Winters (of Earth Crisis, Conviction, etc) proved tardy. The flip side is A Handy Magician, originally infamously issued as a cassette in 2004 or so. And as a more articulate scribe has famously noted, if you remember a Violent Students gig, then you werent there." - Richie.

Artist: VIOLENT STUDENTS
Title: Street Banger
Format: CDR
Label: Richie
Country: USA
Price: $12.00
"Listenin to the crunch n gutterous thud of Street Banger (not to mention a few belts into the Mr H* action) I got to thinkin; what if Oscar Goldman had decided to spend that six million dollars turnin Steve Austin into a human cement truck? Garglin all that gravel, limestone & concrete mix in slow motion woulda sounded alot like the sub industro-metal ejaculate spewed out durin Flying Priest. And who wouldnt want to see a remake of Godzilla vs. Mothra but w/Highrise & Boy Dirtcar dukin it out in them roles this time? I would! And by the sound of things on here, so would Violent Students. On this ep these guys have got a tiger by the tail. And when I say tiger, I mean as in Tiger Tank. And where does a Tiger Tank rumble? Anywhere it fuckin wants! You know that scene in Frankenstein where the monster picks up the girl & throws her in the lake? Its alot like that, except now its a Tiger Tank runnin over Mecht Mensch in a wheelchair flattin them to bits. Next time you play their Acceptance ep, imagin hearin it comin from the other side & mangled almost beyond comprehension. Or just buy the Violent Students Street Banger cd ep instead. Same difference but this time the warts are genital. Dig it, its not just the toad thats off the hook on this one. Buy & behold." - Roland Woodbe, Siltblog.

Artist: WATERY LOVE
Title: Debut 45
Format: 7"
Label: Richie
Country: USA
Price: $6.50
"In the never interesting saga to determine Punks best primitive hooligans, MEN will blog & sputter endlessly about Drunks W/Guns or Brainbombs as martyrs of the cause. And who amongst us would deny either their berth on the altar? As an agnostic, I cannot count the stations of said cross, but I do respect it nonetheless. So its refreshing to see a band wander into this Garage of Gethsemane & fire up their own corroded engine, pistons wheezing, oil belching, you know how it goes; many are crucified, but few resurrected. Where Watery Love fit into this scenario remains to be determined, but when it comes to archaic beats, theyre already dragging their knuckles over sainted simpletons such as Butter Utter, Deutscher Abschaum & Just Urbain. 45 rpms havent sounded this hairy in many moons & as debuts go, they dont come more scabrous. Get one now before they learn to talk." - Roland Woodbe, Siltblog. Numbered edition of 330.
