Title: Last But Not Leased
Format: CD
Label: Siltbreeze
Country: USA
Price: $8.00
"Brother JT sideman leads his own away-team to the planets surface, and returns drunk. The sonic, slurring, instrumental tonic they have decided to bottle up and pass off as their own is a dab of Hawkwind, a pinch of Dead C., and a sprinkle of any number of desert rocks heaviest comancheros. You could say its the finest non-vocal release to pass through the turnstiles since the Smashchords 12". Or if you werent born then, how about Earth 2 ? Say whatever you like. So long as its not Gone III." - Siltbreeze.

Artist: ABOVE GROUND
Title: Gone Aiwa
Format: LP
Label: Siltbreeze
Country: USA
Price: $16.00
"ABOVE GROUND was a fleeting yet no less important piece in the awesome DIY Christchurch scene of the early 80s. Together only for a short period in 1983, the band was comprised of BILL DIREEN (VACUUM / BILDERS), CAROL DIREEN, MARYROSE CROOK (MAX BLOCK / RENDERERS) and STUART PAGE (AXEMEN). They combined a ubiquitous and detached Velvet Underground vibe and a smattering of early Modern Lovers keyboard angst with some kind of Sky Saxon / Seeds psychedelic mojo. Above Ground was a formidable outfit in their brief existence and deserve more than a mere footnote in the history of one of the most vibrant scenes to exist in the past 30 years. Gone Aiwa originally saw life as a limited-edition cassette made to order and sold to various shops and at the occasional gig. So unless you were there (and chances are, you werent), its a good bet this material wilal be fresh to your ears-though two tracks did see the light of day on the Direen / Bilders retrospective CD, Max Quitz, released by Flying Nun in the mid 90s. Gone Aiwa the album is finally realized, and what a wonderful thing it is to behold. Just goes to show its never too late. Includes digital download coupon." - Siltbreeze.

Artist: ALASEHIR
Title: The Philosophy of Living Fire
Format: LP
Label: Siltbreeze
Country: USA
Price: $13.00
ALASEHIr is the trio of MICHAEL GIBBONS, JOHN GIBBONS, and JASON KOURKOUNIS, otherwise known as three-fifths of BARDO POND. Their third release, following a CD apiece for the Important and aRCHIVE labels, Philosophy of Living Fire continues their sonic exploration of dense, languorous, free expansion. Billowing and exploding like a cluster of hashish stars, the three instrumental tracks produce a cosmic energy akin to a quasar in the heavens far left of Coltranes OM and just right of the galaxy known as Dead Cs Harsh 70s Reality. Released in a one-time edition of 1,000 LPs, this is the rocket ride into the outer stratum at which their previous CDs only hinted. So climb aboard and let Alasehirs Philosophy Of Living Fire be your 2007: A Space Odyssey. "The secret here is the groove, it takes you in and it wont let you go in all its head-nodding goodness. An essential slice of spiritual rock..." -Boomkat.

Artist: ASHTABULA
Title: Possible Smokestacks
Format: CD
Label: Siltbreeze
Country: USA
Price: $8.00
"Much ado - okay, a moderate, respectable amount of ado - was made about Ashtabulas debut LP River of Many Dead Fish. A mere side project for Bob Malloy, according to the conventional wisdom, it allowed the remaining members of the Strapping Fieldhands to restock their dwindling supply of owl tonic and to gas up the skiffle barge in the port of limbo. There may well be a kernel of truth in that posit, but now we have a second Ashtabula release, and there hasnt been a collection of new Fieldhands recordings since? well, the last one. They say owl tonic isnt so easy to get nowadays, and a barge aint exactly a canoe, either. Correct us if were wrong, but we believe it was the legendary 60s imagemaker Jake Witsen who said, "Give me intestinal fortitude over verisimilitude any day, cause I want a band with blood and guts, not a group of bleepin nuts." Good on yer, Jake ol boy, you said a mouthful there. But the Witsenian guts on Possible Smokestacks might better be spelled p-l-u-c-k. Lots of pluck. As with outfits within the Elephant 6 collective, theres a ubiquity about it as well (Brobdignagian in this case, as opposed to E6s Lilliputian, lets set the record straight). Smokestacks takes in everything from the glimmer of 60s psychedelic Britpop (a la the UK Kaleidoscope) to a bizarro-world cross between Remake/Remodel-era Roxy Music and Dub Housing-era Pere Ubu, to the Edgar Broughton Band and Hawkwind (setting ears on fire in a tent on the Glastonbury plains). An appearance by a German chanteuse on one track sways somewhere between Nico and Lotte Lenya (but for gods sake, dont go blabbing to Boyd Rice). This album is, as they are wont to say in Magnet, "all over the place." It might make you cry, it might make you sweat, but itll definitely make you moist. And in these frigid times, kingpin, isnt leaving ones glands to the mercy of people like Bob Malloy what its all about?"

"..after innumerable cassette releases, we have the very first vinyl offering from Mr. Phil Todd (Inca Eyeball, Target Shoppers, Ceramic Hobs), full of overdubbed guitar & effect pedal chicanery, not to mention some whacked, hamfisted synth action, conjuring soaring flashbacks and trails of lost acid shimmer." Artist: AXEMEN
Title: Big Cheap Motel
Format: LP
Label: Siltbreeze
Country: USA
Price: $13.00
"Yep, in conjuction w/Sleek Bott Indusries, Siltbreeze is PROUD to annouce no less than 3, countem THREE, Axemen reissues to see the light of day in 2009. First up is a previously cassette only one entitled Big Cheap Motel (originally released in 1983), followed by Scary! (1989) & then a full-on repro of the cult classic Three Virgins, Three Versions, Three Visions (1985). These will all be limited vinyl only runs. For the uninformed, the Axemen have been the practitioners of a unique brand of DIY they lovingly refer to as Sigh-Fi rock for 30 yrs now. Not an easy band to pin down sonically, their catalog speaks for itself in muchve the same way as those belonging to The Homosexuals or Sun City Girls. That is to say vast & beautiful. For a mindblowing glimpse into the world of Axemen (+ related friends & accomplices) check out; http://www.theaxemen.wordpress.com/ & be prepared to have copious blocks of time squandered trying to fathom the genius." -Siltbreeze

Title: Scary! Part III
Format: Double LP
Label: Siltbreeze
Country: USA
Price: $20.00
"The second entry in Siltbreezes AXEMEN reissue series, Scary! Part III originally saw light as a cassette-only release in 1989. Most bands and fans active in the Christchurch and Dunedin scenes at this time could tell you, sans embellishment, how the prolific Axemen blazed through the 80s (new cassettes seeming to come into existence on an almost daily basis), and, in classic Rashomon style, a different story would be told by all willing to reminisce, though its safe to say everyone would agree that Scary!s beguiling je ne sais quoi is some of the bands most intriguing blat to date. Unlike the hyper-punk-charged pastiche of Big Cheap Motel, Scary! operates from a gestalt concept and sensibility. While on the surface the contents might sound fragmented, ruminative, or obfuscatory, dig deeper (or listen better) and youll see (and hear) the mystifying ooze lactating out of the four sides of Scary! not as individual, insurmountable constructs of bizarreness, but as a coherent pattern of brilliant phenomena that is-in a word-scary! Novice ears that have made it though this Bunyanesque giant find themselves making comparisons to a mixture of S.Y.P.H., Royal Trux, and Ptose. All one can say, really, to such hodgepodge is "congratulations." After 20 years and counting, this release refuses to be aptly pigeonholed. Hell, even a seasoned horror chomper such as Shirley Jackson (were she still croaking) would advise giving these guys a wide berth. They mean business and their business is mean. Includes sticker, insert, and poster." - Siltbreeze.

Title: Three Virgins
Format: Double LP
Label: Siltbreeze
Country: USA
Price: $19.00
"Originally released on the inestimable Flying Nun label, Three Virgins came and went in the blink of an eye in the mid-80s. After dormancy a mere quarter century in duration, this beguiling masterwork sees the light of day once again courtesy of Siltbreeze. Setting up shop in Christchurchs State Trinity Centre over Easter holidays 1985, AXEMEN went to work recording every sound and second they could capture during the legendary lost weekend. Fueled by enhanced adrenalin (Tiger Blood) and superhuman zeal (Adonis DNA), they chewed up dozens of reels of tape, assaulting all those who entered the erstwhile ecclesiastical chamber with a barrage of splendiferous blabber n croak. The resultant 88 minutes sound like a mutant hybrid of Trout Mask Replica, Exile on Main Street and Tago Mago. Add to the pot one of the most eye-popping post-psychedelic full-color gatefold jackets ever designed in the brief history of time and youve got a dazzling, exultant combination that could only be described as winning! Vinyl-only edition of 600 (as was the original run) includes a free digital download coupon." - Siltbreeze.

Artist: BLANK REALM
Title: Go Easy
Format: LP
Label: Siltbreeze
Country: USA
Price: $16.00
"BLANK REALM is arguably the most diverse sounding of all the excellent bands presently calling Brisbane, Australia, home. Following a host of releases including two out-of-print LPs for the Not Not Fun label and a pair of sevens on their hometown imprint Negative Guest List, Go Easy is the one where all the chickens come home to roost. With an uncanny channeling of Missing-Links-styled garage / psychedelia, Pere-Ubu-esque rustbelt avant trippery and the experimental post-punk spasms of The Work, Blank Realm ably goes deep (when called for) as well as plays it tight and inside (ditto).  For the discerning sodbuster who actually has cash burning a hole through the leather pouch found at the end of that wallet chain, this is surely one of the primo investments for 2012. Limited edition of 500 copies with download coupon." -Siltbreeze.

Artist: BLUES CONTROL
Title: Local Flavor
Format: CD
Label: Siltbreeze
Country: USA
Price: $14.00
"Local Flavor is the fantastic newest shimmer from BLUES CONTROL. While past releases have been beauteous extrapolations into the miasmic core of psychedelia and billowing fog of ambient space, Local Flavor is the one where all the chickens have come home to roost. The opening track "Good Morning" is practically a sideways step into boogie rock (horn accompaniment provided by none other than JESSE TRBOVICH and KURT VILE); with the proper seismic shift, it could almost be heard as an alternate reality take on "Re-make/Re-model." Its easily the bands longest stomp in the forest of rock since their debut cassette, and, man, them boots leave a bruise! The remaining three tracks morph and ebb harmoniously-in true Blues Control fashion-the timbre occasionally elegiac, yet more often riffing on a plane that has yet to be transcribed." - Siltbreeze.

Artist: BRENT LEWIIS ENSEMBLE
Title: Three Christs Of Ypsilanti
Format: LP
Label: Siltbreeze
Country: USA
Price: $13.00
"As part of the 25th anniversary of the Butte County Free Music Society, Three Christs of Ypsilanti follows Induced Musical Spasticity 4xLP (BUFMS, 2009) and roughly coincides with The Brent Lewiis Ensembles At the North Pole, Easter Day, 1982 (upcoming on What The...?) and, if the master tapes rescue succeeds, the soundtrack to Esthers Brother Is Missing by Maria Estevez. Recording and performing primarily in the mid- to late 1980s, with sporadic efforts in the early 1990s, this barely organized enclave based in rural Northern California ingests and disgorges outsider free music a la Smegma and other bent LAFMS trippers, the UKs A Band, 5 Starcle Men, and the sort of visionaries currently promoted by labels such as Chocolate Monk, Destijl, and Ultra Eczema. Members of the Brent Lewiis Ensemble later migrated to Vomit Launch, Glands of External Secretion, The Idiot, Needles, Serious Prblmz, and Bananafish magazine. Each side of Three Christs of Ypsilanti is dominated by tracks whose lengths meander into double digits. On Side A, "Take It Out and Kill It" is a murky glance at mortification via caninicide, with its ancillary fleas, cockroaches, and especially worms. This is the only large group recording on the album, and as such whirls around in conflicting directions in a manner that one backwater critic long ago described as "schizophrenic muzak." A completely different version of this track was previously released on the Maggie Is a Dot cassette in 1984. On Side B, "Dark Surprise," a 1986 recording from the crossroads of DIY autism and darkened psychedelia, is previously unreleased (the first playback of the master tape didnt happen until 2008). In contrast to the groups usual embrace of any and all kitchen sinks at hand, the recording was made solely with electric guitars, voice, and prerecorded audio frottage. Book-ending both sides are shorter tracks (average length: two minutes); these four excerpts from an after-hours, no-audience guerilla action were recorded in a multistory, split-level university student union, using hurled cafeteria cutlery, defective boomboxes and answering machines blaring prerecorded tape, the public piano, and a variety of unidentified flailing objects. All were previously released on the Mary Jane cassette in 1983." - Siltbreeze.

Title: 1991 Pre-Shadow Ring Recordings
Format: 7"
Label: Siltbreeze
Country: USA
Price: $8.00
"The C&B is short for Cat & Bells Club, a brief precursor that would soon be transformed into the estimable poetics of The Shadow Ring. Studious fans of the bands releases may recognize this name from the whimsical word search found on the back cover of their 1995 7, Some Of Us. Ah, finally; mystery solved & now all the ducks are on the pond. While early Shadow Ring managed to fuse equal parts Tyrannosaurus Rex mystical recitations w/Throbbing Gristle aural idolatry, The C&B seem divinely born out of the sputtering taps of brown ale that flowed freely down the gullets of various 1st generation DIY shufflers, most notably, 49 Americans or Door And The Window. And while this is just dumb luck, theres no denying a genus, unintentional as it may be. The templates for the ruminative, droll & original wordsmithing not to mention the threadbare musical accompaniment that would soon become the hallmark for The Shadow Ring sound are now available for the 1st time ever in a 300 press 7", 4 track ep. Original artwork by founding member, Graham Lambkin." - Siltbreeze.

"Debut vinyl outing from Kyle & Mike (2/3rds FNU Ronnies + drum machine) following a cassette on Fan Death as well as a track contrib on last years Skulls Without Borders 10" comp. Cant say for certain where Chickens mine the toxic ore to forge their urk, but they uncannily tap into similar staub once snuffed by prime Euro movers such as early Dieter Meier & Geisterfahrer not to mention channeling the nascent vibe of Amphetamine Reptile (think Halo Of Of Flies Insecticide Stomp in particular). 4 tracks, 1 time edition of 400, no repress." - Roland Woode, Professional writer.

Artist: CIRCLE PIT
Title: Bruise Constellation
Format: LP
Label: Siltbreeze
Country: USA
Price: $14.00
"Glimmer Twins infatuation-well, some folks can pull it off, others cannot. We all know how well Royal Trux rocked n cocked it through the 90s, and now in the second decade of the 21st century, CIRCLE PIT have sauntered into the boozy sway with their debut LP Bruise Constellation. Seemingly born out of the tar and tobacco of Nellcote / Exile on Main Street-session blooze, Circle Pit ably finesse a torn and frayed sound thats as retro as it is original. Oozing raw talent and possessed with uncanny sensual / sexual osmosis, Bruise Constellation will have you believing its the Summer of 72 all over again (again)" - Siltbreeze.

Artist: CONSTANT MONGREL
Title: Heavy Breathing
Format: LP
Label: Siltbreeze
Country: USA
Price: $16.00
"CONSTANT MONGRELs debut Everything Went Wrong (co-released by RIP Society and 80/81 Records) made every Best Of 2012 list worth its salt. And why not? Combining tempered aggro, churning rhythms and dead-on percussive splat, their rookie effort shows a band on the cusp of break out. And on Heavy Breathing, Constant Mongrel pulverizes the door into dust, so parents take heed: lock up your sons n daughters! Beginning with the jarringly great "Complete," this post-punk art damage spares no one, not even themselves. With eight tracks that smolder, crackle and snap, Heavy Breathing is yet another plumed feather in Constant Mongrels cap, sitting them-in terms of magnitude and diversity-alongside fellow Aussie gristle slingers such as X, Babeez and Seems Twice. Heavy Breathing is sure to be another top corker for 2013. And beyond. Edition of 500 copies. Includes digital download coupon." -Siltbreeze.

Artist: DEAD C
Title: Harsh 70s Reality
Format: Double LP
Label: Siltbreeze
Country: USA
Price: $19.00
"Originally seeing the light of day in April of 1992, Harsh 70s Reality was not just a high water mark for that year, but for the ages. Technically this was the bands fourth long-play outing, and as a double-album, it followed (and was ever so slightly informed by) two formidable juggernauts that preceeded it: Twin Infinitives and Lake. But it was Harsh 70s Reality that left the decade stronger and more resonant than it came in. People say that rock music died with the passing of Kurt Cobain. But THE DEAD C slaughtered it in its sleep with this tremendous set of grinding thud. It is in every sense the ultimate post-rock album. To hear it is to understand why one scribe back in the day referred to their sound as "a garbage truck backing over the abyss." A legendary release from a legendary band on a legendary label. 20th anniversary edition of 1,000, this time with proper gatefold sleeve. Restored to the full length of the original vinyl release (no omitted tracks as on the CD). Fully remastered for optimal volume levels on all tracks-no editing, compression, equalization or normalization; just removal of random, transient, high-level clicks. Includes digital download card." -Siltbreeze.

Artist: DER TPK
Title: Harmful Emotions
Format: LP
Label: Siltbreeze
Country: USA
Price: $16.00
"DER TPK is the charming acronym for DER TEENAGE PANZER KORPS, and anyone who cant appreciate the imagery of a pipsqueak quartet of fuzzy, distorted youth, drenched in DIY testosterone, rumbling out from sewers and into the street, just hasnt been vibing on the correct History Channel. Based outta parts unknown (Germany? California? Is there a difference?), Der TPK gnash and gnarl through the charred landscape of the underground like a small battalion of Tiger tanks blasting across the steppes of the Ukraine. Their sonic attack at times recalls the anxious throb of Mars in their prime, but suddenly it shifts and you could swear you were locked in battle with-uh, listening to, that is-the early discordant rumble of Savage Republic. These four youths-BUNKER WOLF, CATHOLIC PAT, BOY TRUE and EDMUND XAVIER-understand they are channeling a vortex of sound, circa 79-81. Thats where they wanna be. The walls shake, the floor crawls. Hey, whatta place! And really, how could comparisons to Mars and Savage Republic ever be a bad thing? Has Siltbreeze ever lied to you? Limited, one-time-only vinyl edition. Previous releases on Skulltones and Pink Skulls (via Jewelled Antler Collective) are out-of-print and mega-rare." - Siltbreeze.

But, no, its here, its now, and its the first German release ever on Siltbreeze. If the frenzied staccato of S.Y.P.H., Das Name or Mittagspause is what helps goose the lederhosen up the legs, then DIE SCHACHTa gurgling oink is the perfect lube to slap them around the hips. Format: LP
Label: Siltbreeze
Country: USA
Price: $14.00
"Originally released as a CD on the UK label Pickled Egg in 2009, Great Explorers is the second full-length effort from one-man dynamo The Doozer. Siltbreeze was delightfully chuffed to make its acquaintance (by way of Matt Valentines suggestion) and agreed to release it unto all the world on the much-sought-after vinyl format. Hailing from Cambridge, England, The Doozer bears an almost uncanny vocal resonance to past legend Syd Barrett, as well as a knack for cobbling together occasional found-tape narration with string-strum and hypnotic percussive plonk not unlike The Shadow Ring. The gin doesnt come much pinker than this. Great Explorers is limited to 500 copies and includes a free download. Look for a possible Doozer East Coast American tour in August." - Siltbreeze.

"EAT SKULLs Sick to Death received worldwide accolades for its frantic pacing, unimpeachable lyric quality, and nugget after nugget of pop hooks buried under a gob of lo-fi muzz. On this follow-up, fans and critics will find a cleaner, more inimitable Eat Skull at work. Frontman ROB ENBOM has outdone himself with both lyrics and structure on Wild and Inside, and the band as a whole rises to the challenge of nixing the lo-fi tag for a sound thats less... antecedent. Gone is the wall of crud that prevents discerning listeners from identifying the instrumental play-by-play; in its stead, a set of crafted songs recall the paisley punk of The Last and the rural-delica of Great Plains, as well as nodding to the sanguine pop of early Flying Nun bands such as The Double Happys. Artist: ESH, SAM & HARD BLACK THING
Title: Montezuma Baby Duck
Format: LP
Label: Siltbreeze
Country: USA
Price: $15.00
"From 1994, a small stash of these long out-of-print LPs turned up during a recent renovation & its easily the strangest release in the Siltbreeze catalog. Hard Black Thing was a Columbus, Ohio, quartet featuring Sam Esh (former Woodruff Ave. block captain, now mayor of a small unnamed hamlet near Savannah, Georgia), Mike Rep (Quotas, True Believers, etc.) Stu Sinn & Roger Time (both from the Harry Patt Band). Soundwise, HBTs side is a stumbling, white-knuckled barrel ride through myriad soundscapes as diverse as Amon Düül, Kalacakra, Portsmouth Sinfonia, Steve Marcus & Door & The Window, sometimes all at once! Side 2 begins w/ excerpts from the unreleased Sam Esh comedy LP. The sound is not unlike one might expect if one expects to find the likes of Tubby Boots channeling Jack Mudurian at a volunteer fire department turkey raffle. The laughs are on you, friend! Then its a down n dirty steel string strum & coarse vocal hum that is capable of reducing even the most erudite Alan Lomax sycophant to nothing more than a human tear box lost in Porch Swing, USA. Label art by Graham Lambkin. An LP that definitely needs to heard to be conquered." - Siltbreeze.

Artist: EX-COCAINE
Title: Esta Guerra
Format: LP
Label: Siltbreeze
Country: USA
Price: $13.50
"Forged in the Garden City (thats Missoula, Montana to you, piker), Ex-Cocaine is the formidable, sneer-wielding duo of Bryan Ramirez (guitars, effects, vocals) and Mike C (percussion, hexes, spells). Their debut LP from 2005, Keep America Mellow (on Ramirezs Killertree label) brought to light heavy august vibes steeped in the tippled, woodbine n cider electro-folk of Michael Chapman, Steve Peregrine Took, Roy Harper, and other more reclusive Anglo biscuit-snuffers whose works haunt the archives of Kissing Spell and Shadoks. On their second effort, Ex-Cocaine throw down hard, evoking a gnarled bonfire with flames that roar thunderously like the detuned, rockist clang of Dead Cs Harsh 70s Reality, and burns evenly like the smelted, Rust Belt psychedelia of Stone Harbours Emerges. Vinyl-only and limited, the sparks are flying off this one already. Catch it if you can." -Siltbreeze.

Artist: FABULOUS DIAMONDS
Title: Fabulous Diamonds II
Format: LP
Label: Siltbreeze
Country: USA
Price: $16.00
"The second full-length outing from FABULOUS DIAMONDS is a continuation of the lush and mesmerizing electro / percussive landscapes explored on their self-titled debut LP (released on Siltbreeze in 2008). JARROD ZLATIC and NISA VENEROSA spark lots of musical embers along the way: dub, trance, house, ambient, minimalist, hints of Suicide and Terry Riley-basically everything from Silver Apples to Silver Apples of the Moon. Fabulous Diamonds are equally at home in indie gulags, art galleries or disco gullies. Fans of the more esoteric side of Siltbreeze-Blues Control and US Girls, especially-should be mightily chuffed by the beauteous hypnotic (hypnagogic?) pop Fab Ds are laying down here. Look for the band to tour Europe in mid/late 2010. Includes a free download coupon. Received a 7.4 rating from Pitchfork." -Siltbreeze

Price: $14.00
"Adorably known to friends and family in Australia as JARROD and NISA, THE FABULOUS DIAMONDS beguiling truck is a mesmerizing mix of synth, dub, and percussion, woven around honey-ache vocal stylings recalling (in spirit) past Aussie noisemakers Scattered Order or Makers Of The Dead Travel Fast, as well as those of Augustus Pablo, Young Marble Giants, and Suicide. Their one previous release was a 7-inch co-released by Nervous Jerk and Misteltone, and it garnered praise from the Blogosphere and a smattering of airplay on discerning freeform radio stations around the US. This LP on Siltbreeze has been in the works for the better part of a year; its release coincides their first American tour (along with Siltbreeze labelmates, Psychedelic Horseshit)." -Siltbreeze

Artist: FACTUMS
Title: Alien Native
Format: LP
Label: Siltbreeze
Country: US
Price: $13.00
"FACTUMS are a contempo three-piece hailing outve Seattle who claim to have ties with (i.e. include former members of) A-FRAMES and THE INTELLIGENCE. Originally released as a CD in 2004, Alien Native shows a band burrowed deep in the mystery and menace of the nascent gnarl of experimental art rock. Imagine a record collection consisting solely of The Residents Fingerprince, Chromes Alien Soundtracks, and Cabaret Voltaires Nag Nag Nag. A blast from any of these records could clear a house back in the old days; now they fill it. Fortunately The Factums dont operate on such a binary plane. They are capable of resorting to either option, depending on the time and place. Alien Native is a great swab of past-sounding electro-junkoid rumble absorbed into the mind and matter of present day pre-analog excavators. Limited vinyl-only pressing of 500 copies with hand-screened jackets." - Siltbreeze.

Title: Borrowed Time
Format: LP
Label: Siltbreeze
Country: USA
Price: $16.00
"Borrowed Time is FAR-OUT FANGTOOTHs second full-length LP for Siltbreeze and follows an excellent one-off seven-inch effort for the HoZac label. In the two years since the bands debut, Pure & Disinterested, their sound has matured; their direction, finessed. While the first LP carried heavy Sonic Youth / Christian Death vibes, Borrowed Time segues in and out of the fuzz / feedback pop of The Jesus & Mary Chain, the smoldering post-punk darkness of Sort Sol and the crashing, echo-laden psychedelia of Five Day Week Straw People. Look for the band out on the road in late 2013. Edition of 500 copies with download code." -Sitlbreeze.

Artist: FAR-OUT FANGTOOTH
Title: Pure & Disinterested
Format: LP
Label: Siltbreeze
Country: USA
Price: $16.00
"Existing in the musty shadows of the Philly scene, FAR-OUT FANGTOOTH have built a most unique foundation of sound, mixing early Cramps swamp / garage blackout, nascent Bauhaus post-punk / quasi-goth bleakness as well as an uncanny nod to the witchy, ethereal leather glam of first-generation Blue Oeyster Cult. Their debut LP, Pure & Disinterested, follows a limited-edition 7-inch for local label Ian! Records. In recent months, Far-Out Fangtooth has seen live action on bills with the likes of Times New Viking, Circle Pit, Blank Dogs and R. Stevie Moore. The band intends to launch a full-scale US tour to coincide with the release of Pure & Disinterested, so keep your eyes (and ears) peeled. Limited to 500 copies; features free download card." - Siltbreeze.

Artist: FEEHAN, MARK
Title: MF
Format: LP
Label: Siltbreeze
Country: USA
Price: $16.00
"While our erstwhile maestro is likely to point out personal involvement in Miamis BROKEN TALENT or TRASH MONKEYS as the apex of his twisted musical endeavors, the fact remains that MARK FEEHAN is most likely best remembered as the "other" cold-blooded string-mangler that shredded synapses through the Siltbreeze era of HARRY PUSSY two decades ago. While recent years have seen former bandmate Bill Orcutt reinvent the essence of gut-bucket blues, Feehan whiled away the time building an exact replica of an infamous Confederate submarine (the H.L. Hunley) and traveling the world, submerged. During that tenure nestled in Neptunes realm, he created a masterful album of his own-this very collection bearing his humble monogram. MF is a lively mix of guitar-based compositions steeped in modal harmonics that explode into miasmic, aural waves, transporting emanations of Phil Yost, Magical Power Mako, Michael Chapman and Hans Reichel into the mind stream. Swirling, spacey eddies will open like maelstroms and flood your subconscious, but do not be afraid. That much time under water changes a man. But sometimes its for the best. And MF is a case in point." - Siltbreeze. Limited edition of 350 copies.

Artist: GALBRAITH, ALASTAIR
Title: Mass
Format: LP
Label: Siltbreeze
Country: USA
Price: $15.00
"That ALASTAIR GALBRAITH should return to the Siltbreeze fold (responsible for his debut LP, Morse, in 1993) for his latest release seems practically tailor-made. But while Morse followed traditional avenues of rugged folk narrative tinged with psychedelic foxing, Mass is an unchartered, one-way trip through a world of ritual. Consisting of 22 tracks, this new album runs the gamut from mysterious beauty to just plain mysterious. Broken guitars, percussive loops, backwards tracking, a (homemade) glass harmonium, lullabies, bagpipe thievery and the odd bit of fighting talk are just some of the many bricks laid here, with Galbraith himself as the mortar and AMIEL BALESTER, MICHAEL KOHLER and DAVID KILGOUR providing assistance here and there. Mass is an expansive whopper prepared to go anywhere and do anything to get there. Includes free digital download coupon." -Siltbreeze

"Hall of Fames third full-length album finds these NYC indoor miners forging even deeper into their secret cave of gems (financed with new picksnshovels on the Siltbreeze tab). Like their previous output on the Amish label, this ones a melange of tribal thump, eastern drone, raga concrete and melodious melancholia. Hall of Fames unique, not easily identifiable sound has been compared to revered oufits such as Flies Inside the Sun and The Shadow Ring, sometimes even in English. If, like the young scribes from Hayfever magazine, your recollection and your record collection go back further than a time we like to call ⿿the early 90s,⿝ its okay to shout ⿿king me!⿝ and move on. But if you really wanna sit around the ol checkerboard discussing strategy, then your next stop is a Lower East Side of the late 60s; Hall of Fames healthy smattering of influences stretches back to Ludlow Street-era Velvet Underground, Prestige-era Moondog, The Godz and Angus MacLise. Recently the band played a series of shows with The Red Krayola, impressing the hell out of that old Quixotic Dadaist Mayo Thompson and his erstwhile Sancho Panza, David Grubbs. Senor Grubbs was so impressed that he enlisted HoFs Dan Brown to do some drumming for his forthcoming release of covers from various performances from the King Biscuit Flower Hour. Artist: HANK IV
Title: III
Format: LP
Label: Siltbreeze
Country: USA
Price: $16.00
"I dont care how many goddamn cute hobo bands there are out there right now. Not two runny shits. Theres something HANK IV knows that few other current of interest bands realize, and its a painfully simple thing: guitars were meant to sound like this, not that (pick something). Thats as plainly as it can be put. This is twin-guitar punk rock in a class of its own, driving more than dueling and hot-sauce-free. III is Hank Babys third and finest album yet and they are, in short, a band whose every move is worthy of your utmost attention. For this record (their second for Siltbreeze), Thee Hanks opted to spend zero dollars and buried themselves deep inside their very own Shill Building studio for a good, long while. Sightings became scarce. Promises of work being done were made but who really knew what was going on? To be fair, The Shill has its fair share of distractions. Imagine Platos Retreat, except like a basement in the Tenderloin. Anyway, the result of their self-imposed exile is this album bearing the aroma of fuck you coupled with a faint flutter of fuck me. Its eight songs in 25 minutes of loud, angry, intelligent, rock n roll punk and its from San Francisco. Beyond that, the rhythms actually have a rhythm-a loud, all-rock rhythm, in fact. Its shocking and practically akin to reinventing the wheel round these un-rocking parts. Great-and now the worldll probably explode. Do I gotta pick a cut to exalt? Down in the Dumps springs forth. Hopefully the punks follow suit."-Mitch Cardwell . Includes free digital download coupon and insert.

Artist: HANK IV
Title: Refuge In Genre
Format: LP
Label: Siltbreeze
Country: USA
Price: $14.00
"A decidedly meaner, sharper, and more pummeling affair than their critically acclaimed debut, Hank IVs second album, Refuge in Genre, sports eleven songs in 30 scorched-earth minutes. No visit to the lo-fi or "shit-gaze" Quonset huts this, Refuge in Genre was recorded in shattering hi-fidelity by Tim Green (The Fucking Champs) and mastered by Bob Weston (Shellac). The rollicking San Francisco quintet has been in the crosshairs of the Siltbreeze hunting rifle since just after the release of their debut LP, Third Person Shooter, was (Hook or Crook, 2006). Attempts to release their Dirty Poncho 7-inch were squashed (the honor went to Plastic Idol) so Siltbreeze did what any jilted paramour would: decided to get even. The sound of Hank IV is a bit too wily and scrambled to pigeonhole as any one type of honk. Forward thinkers might tag em as panic-skiffle, combining the cunning and menace of compadres such as Thomas Jefferson Slave Apartments or Country Teasers, with a dual guitar attack that nods toward the Bailey / Kuepper-era Saints as much as those dudes looked at Smith / Kramer for their nascent moves. Through all this stutter and pummel, vocalist Bob McDonald (formerly of Denver hardcore icons Bum Kon) doesnt throw caution to the wind so much as atomize it. If a shattered leg cant keep this herc from heralding the apocalypse, do you think your tender widdle ears have a chance? Not likely, bub. San Francisco quintet Hank IV has no relation whatsoever to the Hank Williams clan. Their hard-charging and visceral dual-guitar rock punk has been likened to "Crime meets Viletones meets Styrenes punk" (Z-Gun Magazine) and by WFMUs DJ Terre T as "a sick combination of Volcano Suns and Blue Cheer and Chain Gang!" Third Person Shooter was called "one of 2006s top punk albums" by Maximum Rockandroll, "Best of 2006" by Terminal Boredom, #2 album of 2006 by WFMU DJ Evan Funk Davies, and the #8 album of 2006 by Terre T. The band has played twice at SXSW, including 2008 for the WFMU 50th anniversary showcase, and performed at Gonerfest IV in Memphis in 2007." - Siltbreeze.

Title: The Day Is Coming
Format: LP
Label: Siltbreeze
Country: USA
Price: $16.00
"For the discerning pinetoppers of contemporary, post-everything aggro grit, the name JOHNNY NOISE should be synonymous with the sound of grizzled, sonic elan. One of the principal constructors of LOS LLAMARADAs estimable creepy crawl, Noises guitar howls and snarls went deep in guiding that bands portent vision of bleak, psychedelic ache. And now hes cast all his brut-moderne madrigals--drums, strings, vocals, the whole shebang--into a solo cauldron of hairy, distempered muzz for your consumption. Sounding like a lurching composite of Randy Holden, Bruce Gilbert, Steve Hall and Eric Hysteric, The Day Is Coming is the out-of-nowhere masterpiece of 2014 no one saw coming. Seriously, this is some virtual goat-killin, blood-suckin, Chupacabra-damaged, splayed-out shit! The man is back and armed to the gills. You have been hipped. Artist: KITCHENS FLOOR
Title: Look Forward to Nothing
Format: LP
Label: Siltbreeze
Country: USA
Price: $16.00
"Loneliness Is a Dirty Mattress, the debut LP by Australian trio KITCHENS FLOOR, made many ponderous pinetops top ten list in 2010 and with good reason. The band aptly channels an adroit cacophony that recalls the former glory of past Aussie noise / punk gnashers such as Rejex and Feedtime with such elan that one might suspect Tooheys Sheaf courses through their veins. On Look Forward to Nothing, new drummer JOE ALEXANDER (also found in the excellent combo, PER PURPOSE) gives Kitchens Floor a much more thunderous drive, with the the results sounding not unlike a cage match between (the Australian) X and The Gordons. True, the pummeling is without quarter and theres blood everywhere. But take stock, friend-its all yours! Which just goes to show that the best thing about beating your head against the wall is that its to Kitchens Floor. Look for the band Stateside late August through September, touring coast to coast and also dealing pain at Gonerfest 2011. Aloha. Includes download." - Siltbreeze.

Format: 7"

"Plucking Kito-Miukumi Roubers lp out of an anonymous year end frying pan & into our Best Of 2009 fire seemed to confound toady taste makers & blog plonkers all around Hipster Haven. To them lists are a crucial element of.....something, & lets face it, peeps love lists. Sales are generated, no argument there. Why, Id wager that ringing endorsement of Otonaki Touge De Hagureta Kmr was instrumental in said lp essentially going from under the radar to out of print by early 2010. Fancy that! And now here we are, almost a year later & Siltbreeze is proud to offer its followup; a 5 track 7" ep entitled Midori Mushi San Connichiwa. If your a fan of the lp, I cant possibly see how this wont be in your wheelhouse. For the unfamiliar, K-MRs sound seems informed by old school Japanese genre snuffers such as Tako & Gunjogacrayon. Combining the jabbering, pan humanoid outthereness of the former w/the zoned, riffed, mutant indifference of the latter, K-MR have created a toxic, dripping blotter of sound that is most appealing to those of us who luxuriate in the humidity of the 1%. Plus, as an added laugh (theirs, mine, yours, ours) theyve tacked on an eerie cover snippet that is a stab in the heart to every campfire singalong & folksy hootenanny through time immemorial. Absolutely tremendous! Released in an edition of 286 to commemorate the year in the Japanese calendar when a wise man went to see the Emperor about a horse." - Siltbreeze.

Artist: LITTLE CLAW

Format: 7"
Label: Siltbreeze
Country: USA
Price: $5.00
Hey, whaddya know, another 7"! Were knockin these things out like Kosher corn dogs at the state fair. And we aint got a singles club or nothin! This time its Little Claw thats delivering the goods, two new tracks ( Race To The Bottom/Feed You) that careen off the walls of your skull like drunken Valkyries lashing through the halls of Valhalla. What would Odin think? Who cares! Our own Roland S. Woode sez; "The evolution of Little Claw has been wondrous to behold & now their beguiling cluck has found its way into the Siltbreeze ranks. On what is their 5th vinyl outing, the band has laid down 2 distinct tracks & they are mightly gallops of ambidextrous charge. Race To The Bottom rakes across the nodules of your brain w/serrated glee while Feeding You could be a cosmic transmission from futuristic denizens who have carved Terrence Mckenna pancreas into psychedelic sweetbreads & gobbled them for lysergic sustenance. The sound is, as one of the main pie tasters from Bull Tongue recently opined, "Fucking Awesome"! Edition of 400 copies". - Siltblog

Artist: LLOYD PACK
Title: Know Your Lloyd Pack
Format: 7"
Label: Siltbreeze
Country: USA
Price: $8.00
"Captains log, stardate 10.3.12: The Lloyd Pack 7" ep is finally realized. We had picked up a distress signal some weeks back, the call letters unclear, but seemingly emitted from a slow & hostile planet known only as URP. The data transcribed mentioned project (Lloyd Pack), title, (Know Your Lloyd Pack), participants (Russell Walker, Letha Rodman Melchior, Dan Melchior) & facilitator (Siltbreeze). Upon listening to contents, our forward team-though eager albeit without much depth-quickly attempted a single comparison to former Siltbreeze inhabitants, the Shadow Ring regarding sound & style. However, Chief Science Officer Roland Woodbe dismissed this as naive & noted the possibility of an Excalbian conspiracy in such a hasty summation. Woodbe elaborated a deeper analogy, finding in his historical dissection hints to century old former galactic explorers such as Collective Horizontal, 49 Americans & No Half Measures (for example). When presented with the compositions of Lloyd Pack myself I found CSO Woodbes comprehension to be most evolved. That said, the Know Your Lloyd Pack ep occupies its own unique aural atmosphere too. Its drollery is of the highest Anglo-Saxon order, its ambience as crisp as a Gloustershire perry. Overall I have found its essence most logical and as any species this side of 40 Eradani A is aware, with only 300 pressed, its shelf life is surely not long for the galaxy. A portion of all sales will go to the Letha Rodman Melchior Cancer Fund. Peace and Prosper to all. Sincerely, Tiberius Surak Starfleet Commander." - Siltbreeze.

Artist: LOVE IS SO FAST, THE
Title: S/T
Format: LP
Label: Siltbreeze
Country: USA
Price: $13.00
"Exact details on the origins of The Love Is So Fast are vague; essentially, it was a project created by Danyhell and Estrella (currently in Los Llamarada) intended to flesh out bedroom improvisations and act as an inner search for a sense of skeletal (pop) structure amid the morass of postmodern rock effluvium. Performed live and recorded in one take, the five hazy, languorous tracks certainly charge the ions with positive, crystalline zip, creating an electron hole that sounds like alien transmissions from a long-ago Mars. Not the band, friend, the planet! Fans of the debut LP by Los Llamarada (S-S Records) will be downright giddy with the Precambrian narco-menace that comes carbonating off The Love Is So Fasts archival recordings. Or, as the band says themselves: "This is the music we dreamed of but couldnt play." Grab the peyote, I think Im Frida Kahlo." -Siltbreeze

Artist: MACLISE, ANGUS
Title: Brain Damage in Oklahoma City
Format: CD
Label: Siltbreeze
Country: USA
Price: $16.00
"Brain Damage in Oklahoma City is the second installment in the Siltbreeze/Quakebasket series of music by poet/mystic/shaman Angus Maclise. Culled from the archives of Mr. Tony Conrad, this volume (covering the years 1967-70) highlights MacLises unique and intricate drumming style. Cembalum, bongos, hand drum, barrel congas -- all are majestically thumpednbumped for maximum orgasmic sensory satisfaction. Comprised of eight tracks, the acme of this collection is the two large ensemble pieces, Dreamweapon Benefit for the Oklahoma City Police Dept. parts 1 & 2, featuring Angus (barrel conga), Hetty MacLise (tampura), the poet Jackson Maclow (recorders and voice), Henry Flynt (song flute and voice) and Tony Conrad (limp string). These tracks, recorded in May of 1968, are the apex of maximalist loft style psychedelic improvisation. Conrads illuminating, occasionally hilarious liner notes set up the narrative of this volume and offering a brief glimpse back into the mind-scrambling fracas that was NYC, USA, Earth 1968. Along with more gorgeous, brain-warping Invasion-style sleeve art, included in the CD booklet is a reproduction of the poster for the Dreamweapon Benefit, confirmation in black and white that for four nights in May, 1968, Wooster Street Cinematheque was definitely one witchy place to be." - Siltbreeze.

Artist: MACLISE, ANGUS
Title: Invasion of the Thunderbolt Pagoda
Format: CD
Label: Siltbreeze
Country: USA
Price: $16.00
"The late percussionist and poet Angus Maclise was pure 60s free spirit all the way. A founding member of the Velvet Underground (who quit as soon as he found out they were being paid to play their first gig), Maclises collaborators and compadres read like a Whos Who for the Halana generation: LaMonte Young, Marian Zazeela, Terry Riley, Tony Conrad, Henry Flynt, Jack Smith, Andy Warhol, Gerard Malanga and Ira Cohen. His intricate, India-influenced drumming propelled any number of tranced-out jams in New Yorks lofts of the era (a Milford Graves for the psychedelic set, if you will). Though he was meticulous about his recording, very little of Maclises music has ever been made available. The vaults have been opened, and Invasion is the first authorized collection of Maclises work to appear, with other volumes to follow. The 45-minute opening track, St. Marks Epiphany, provides an incredible glimpse of Maclises music -- his unstoppable cross-rhythms, his wife Hetties droning organ and tamboura, and the crazed echoing flute and vocals from an ensemble known as the Mutant Repetoire Company, whose cacophony is rather like an unholy marriage between Amon Düül 1 & the Taj Mahal Travellers. Part of this piece was used as the soundtrack for Invasion of The Thunderbolt Pagoda (from which the CDs photos are taken), the masterful psychedelic film by Ira Cohen, photographer of Spirits Twelve Dreams of Dr. Sardonicus and John McLaughlins Devotion -- this is also the complete version of The Joyous Lake -- released long ago in excerpt form on a flexidisc with an issue of Aspen magazine. Also in this first volume is a wild piece for shortwave radios from one of Maclises India excursions, as well as the Sufi trance of Heavenly Blue Pt.4&5 and the communal free jam of Blastitude. Invasion. . closes beautifully with the delerious celtic lulabye Humming in the Night Skull, featuring Maclise on chimes with harmonium and guitar. What else is there to say? This is a remarkable and long overdue celebration of an overlooked and necessary figure of the New York avant garde." - Siltbreeze.

Artist: MAD SCENE
Title: Blip
Format: LP
Label: Siltbreeze
Country: USA
Price: $16.00
"Its staggering to think that this is the first album from MAD SCENE since Merge released Chinese Honey way back in 1995. But thats a fact. Not that the band has been inactive on the live front-far from it. When you have a group as diverse as HAMISH KILGOUR (THE CLEAN), LISA SIEGEL (Vegetarian), STEVE THORNTON (Go-To Guy), GEORGIA HUBLEY (YO LA TENGO), GARY OLSEN (Straight Shooter), JOSH FELDMAN (Professional Athlete), CASSIE TUNICK, DANNY TUNICK (Same Last Names!) and Brian Turner (WFMU Music Director), things can get sidelined when it comes to the studio. But eventually things fell into place and for their fourth long-player, the band enlisted SONIC BOOM to produce and mix, then thrust the finished product into the waiting hands of the Siltbreeze label. Blip is a masterful melange of sounds, mixing a range of influences such as nascent Flying Nun chug, Television Personalities DIY psych, shambling Pastels-like rockers and Sarah label indie-pop nuggets. The palette of aural perfection here offers something for everyone. And yeah, it may have taken 17 years to get here, but you cant say it isnt worth the wait. Limited to 500 copies, includes download." - Siltbreeze.

Artist: MANTLES
Title: S/T
Format: LP
Label: Siltbreeze
Country: USA
Price: $15.00
"With two acclaimed seven-inches under their belt, THE MANTLES answer the call for more with a stunning debut LP sure to please all who cross its path. The Mantles have been dead-on in distilling a contemporary pop / psych concoction that mixes equal parts early Chills with early Dream Syndicate-and really, who among us wouldnt want a bottle of that with which to quietly tipple the day away? Recorded by GREG ASHLEY, the LP taps said hybrid, and if anything, burrows deeper into the core of rock, extracting essential magma that fuses early SF Ballroom psychedelia, Byrds-ian jangle-pop, and the Velvet Undergrounds extraordinary ability for serpentine leads and bridges. And yep, that pretty much covers all the bases. The band is currently on their first US tour supporting Ty Segall coast to coast. LP includes free digital download." -Siltbreeze

Artist: MAX BLOCK, THE
Title: Air Ache in the Belly of the Leech
Format: LP
Label: Siltbreeze
Country: USA
Price: $16.00
"For the majority of newbie Flying Nun collectors, THE MAX BLOCKs eponymous (and only) 12-inch release is more myth than fact. Few seemed to have been pressed, and even fewer were available in the brief window of time (mid-80s) when it was "around." Unknown until very recently was that a second EP had been recorded and slated for release by Flying Nun but never realized. Air Ache in the Belly of the Leech is a compendium of both, and thus the complete recorded works of The Max Block. Youre welcome. Some background: The Max Block is where MARYROSE (nee WILKINSON) and BRIAN CROOK-now the power couple behind THE RENDERERS-joined forces for the first time. Maryrose was coming out of ABOVE GROUND, and Brian out of SCORCHED EARTH POLICY. With the enlisted talents of REBECCA SHANAHAN and ROBBIE STOWELL, The Max Block pushed different boundaries than other active Christchurch bands at the time; they came out slinging a brain-splattering goo of art-spaced, Pere-Ubu-seared cerebellum, and frenetic, Mars-fried medula oblongata. Such tantalizing aromas! Pardon me, garcon, but make mine deux. Bottom line, Siltbreeze is proud to make available this remarkable and awesome collection, much of it seeing the light of day for the first time ever. Limited edition of 500 copies; includes digital download coupon." -Siltbreeze.

Artist: MELCHIOR, DAN
Title: Assemblage Blues
Format: LP
Label: Siltbreeze
Country: USA
Price: $14.00
"As DAN MELCHIOR continues to kick the Medway gutbucket to the curb, he is also willfully absorbing all mannerve underground cankerous crud along the way. For those endeared to wallet chains and crisp, cuffed jeans, this has been tantamount to heresy. But for thems whats embraced the sounds of "the new Dan," said aberrations are as welcome to caustic ears as a cold beer is to a setve parched lips. And while last years Visionary Pangs LP (released with DAS MENACE on the S-S label) was a grower and a half, Assemblage Blues snuffs it as if it were no moren a sneeze in the wind. "This here LP seemingly vibes from such leftfield Blighty heavies as Instant Automatons and L. Voag as well as the dark side of Alex Chilton (think Dusted in Memphis) and the 3:00 A.M. shudder of Prominent Disturbance. Within the canon of the Siltbreeze label, Melchiors magnificent malarkey on Assemblage Blues has secured him a spot somewhere between The Shadow Ring and Jim Shepard. The pone dont sizzle much hotter than there. And the sneezin is nil. Edition of 500, includes download card." - Siltbreeze.

Artist: MOUNT CARMEL
Title: Real Women
Format: CD
Label: Siltbreeze
Country: USA
Price: $13.00
"For those swayed by the magisterial authenticity of MOUNT CARMEL on their eponymous 2010 debut album: its follow-up Real Women finds the band honed and sharper, thus delivering what might be the best sophomore album released by an American blues-based power-trio since ZZ Tops Rio Grande Mud. Nods to Free, Humble Pie, even Trapeze can be sussed out in the mix, but at the end of the day, Real Women is straight-up Mount Carmel all the way. Searing leads, smokey vocals, thundering rhythms, cascading drums, hyperbolic hyperbole... its all here. Mount Carmel brings back the spirit of 1973 like no one else. The only difference now is better weed and shittier barbiturates. Its hands-down pure rock, no frills. Nary a retro contrivance is to be heard. These guys live it for real. Honest. So climb on board with Real Women and see what youve been missing. The results are astounding." -Siltbreeze.

"The trio of MATTHEW REED, PATRICK REED AND KEVIN SHUBAK-heretofore known as MOUNT CARMEL-hails from Columbus, Ohio, but if youre expecting lo-fi, greasers palace pop a la Psychedelic Horseshit or Times New Viking, think again. Mount Carmel is a straight-up blues rock power trio. And by straight-up we mean sans revisionist three-dollar currency, Sub Pop grunge hybridization or ironic posturing. These guys have been weened on a diet almost steadfastly consisting of British blues/rock innovators: Peter Green-era Bluesbreakers, Cream and Ten Years After are immediately recognizable in their sound (in fact, the latters "Hear Me Calling" is covered on here). This isnt a lark or something these guys are doing between noise projects-its their life. Good, old-fashioned rock n roll, plain and simple. Some folks never made time for punk, just like youve always snubbed your nose at the drum solo. Hard to believe, right? But just because you didnt live through it the first time doesnt mean youre not doomed to repeat it." - Siltbreeze.

Artist: NAKED ON THE VAGUE
Title: Blood Pressure Sessions
Format: LP
Label: Siltbreeze
Country: USA
Price: $14.00
"LUCY PHELAN and M.P. HOPKINS hail from Sydney, Australia. Behind a basic framework of keyboard, bass, and vocals (and all manner of tinkered-with percussion) NAKED ON THE VAGUEs distinct aggregate of sound calls to mind everything from SPK to Mars and beyond. Or, as theyre fond of calling them in Philly, "the Death Star version of Times New Viking." Originally released in 2007 on CD by the fearless Australian Dual Plover label, The Blood Pressure Sessions ventures into a darker realm than their debut 7-inch (also on Dual Plover) had erroneously suggested. Propelled by the sharp, rhythmic snare drum beat and anchored by thunderous, fuzzed bass-lines and stinging, swinging organ and synth fills, Phelan and Hopkins take turns rounding out the vocal duties, giving the whole of their sound a sonorous curtain of ecstatic foreboding. Betraying a gallows wit, the band refers to their music as "apocalyptic pop," which could be construed as both drowning and waving. Appearing at SXSW, US tour in the spring of 2008." - Siltbreeze.

Title: Heaps of Nothing
Format: CD

Price: $13.00
"For this second full-length effort, NAKED ON THE VAGUE eschew their tantalizingly sparse duo attack for a quartet line-up, and the results are as sensational as they are sinister. While the rickety, no-wave splat found on previous efforts had its appeal, the heft of a "proper" rhythm section has only helped Naked on the Vague delve deeper into the landscape of post-punk murk. Bleak, unrepentant, withering and droll, Heaps of Nothing is a 21st century codification of the gallows wit and mesmerizing otherworldliness of (Dub Housing-era) Pere Ubu, Primitive Calculators and Lemon Kittens. Shuttling mutant urbanity from past to present, Naked on the Vague is only too eager to confirm that the Earth isnt flat. Because Heaps of Nothing is here to flatten it. Upcoming Australian and American tours planned, with European dates in the works. LP version to follow." - Siltbreeze.

Artist: OPERAZIONE NAFTA
Title: Cavuru
Format: LP
Label: Siltbreeze
Country: USA
Price: $13.00
"Located within the Trapani Province of Sicily, OPERAZIONE NAFTA considers their self-described "un-rock" as "a blowjob from Luigi Russolo." Theres little doubt the great Futurist author of the The Art Of Noises manifesto would be anything but chuffed by such salacious bravado. Indeed, the trio pours on the racket and sounds like they were hatched in a custom-built Russolo intonarumori. Successfully putting the on back in bonkers, Operazione Nafta doles out only The Berserk, which might be why, at any given time, their unstoppable onslaught taps into rock / improv fizz a la Sun City Girls, Etron Fou Leloublan or the Butthole Surfers, various FMP blat, and MEV-like electronic scramble. When they claim "We are Operazione Nafta and we kill Bambi!" who among us would question it? Besides, a nice bowl of Sicilian-styled venison ragout would really hit the spot. Released in a vinyl-only, one-time edition of 500, Cavuru is the bands debut release." - SIltbreeze.

"PINK REASON is always KEVIN DEBROUX and practically never anyone else. The self-released Pink Reason debut seven-inch from 2006 was an itch of such beguiling psychic ache that all the inhabitants of Siltbreeze Island scratched it until they bled. On this first full length, the resident of Green Bay, Wisconsin, continues to ooze muzzy melancholia by the bucket, ably and formidably clearing house in Sanguine Manor, whose previous tenants include Royal Trux, The Jacobites, Phantom Payne, Black Vial, and other marginal inhabitants whose sticky fingers glimmer in stoned adulation. Dominated by creeping synths, stark strums and rickety percussive splats that complement De Brouxs heartscraping vocal catharsis, Cleaning The Mirror journeys far beyond any known perspective, practically insinuating an alternate otherworld where Tim Buckleys Lorca and Jandeks Ready For The House have been hybridized into a ripe-for-plucking masterpiece. Or, shunning hyperbole in favor of acronym, Pink Reasons modern day DIY is very FYI that you should check out PDQ. Touring throughout 2007." - Siltbreeze.

Title: Shit In The Garden
Format: LP
Label: Siltbreeze
Country: USA
Price: $15.00
"In the four years since Siltbreeze released Pink Reasons Cleaning the Mirror, Kevin DeBrouxs subsequent singles and EPs have been concise, individual statements, together charting an atlas of depression and the struggles with a darkness that threaten to swallow him up every day. Compressed into Debrouxs five- and six-minute songs are weeks, months and years of labor and experience, not the least of which are his travels to places where he catalyzed and received underground energies—from Wisconsin and Ohio, through Melbourne and Santiago de Chile, to New York City. Try to map out how these songs are put together, and one finds that the apparent simplicity of DeBrouxs riffs and chord progressions gives way to an epic complexity. Now that the dust is settling and the commercial concerns of a thousand “lo-fi” projects have vacated the underground for a better life in the dorm rooms of America, the influence of Cleaning the Mirror on the past half-decade is clear. And DeBroux is still here, using cheap technology, creating rich, enveloping psychological environments, giving voice to a restless inner life—manifesting drum-and-bass beats, hardcore dissonance, Ian MacCullochs larynx—and blooming like sunflowers amid the debris." - Siltbreeze.

Artist: PSYCHEDELIC HORSESHIT
Title: Magic Flowers Droned
Format: LP
Label: Siltbreeze
Country: USA
Price: $13.00
"Considered by the Columbus cognoscenti as the "little brother band" (Stooges-style) to Times New Viking (MC5-style), PSYCHEDELIC HORSESHIT first came about as three buds determined to crash a hippie fest and jam retardo. When asked for their name, singer/guitarist MATT WHITEHURST replied, "Just call us Psychedelic Horseshit." The band killed, the name stuck, and thus the die was ignominiously cast. Since then, they played with the Urinals, Country Teasers, Dan Melchior, Blues Control, toured with Pink Reason and Times New Viking, ruled a couple showcases at the 2007 SXSW, basically doing what they can to lay the foundation for the release of this debut LP (a previous 7-inch on the Columbus Discount label made many 2006 Best Of lists, too). Distempered, jaded, harmonious, and ramshackle, Psychedelic Horseshit keeps the glass half full; the question is, do you have the courage to drink their wry and wizened brew? Sure you do, its the tonic of champions! Shades of early Fall, Swell Maps, and Pavement." - Slitbreeze.

Artist: PUFFY AREOLAS
Title: In The Army 1981
Format: LP
Label: Siltbreeze
Country: USA
Price: $16.00
"For the past few years, PUFFY AREOLAS have been fritzing synapses and scorching the landscape with their corroded psych / hardcore scree. Enlightened by the most unhinged charters of Acid Archives and Killed by Death alumnus, the Puffies sound might best be described as embodying the Stooges Raw Power if your pretty face had gone to hell. There, it would have encountered (among others) White Boy and The Average Rat Band, Tampax, Opus and Mag Amplitude for an eternal damnation of scarred depravity, the excesses of which would be legendary even by Hades standards. In the Army 1981 is its own sadistic brand of plastic surgery, heavy on the anesthetic, short any bedside manner. Rude and ready for action, Puffy Areolas will forever be the bull in the china shop. And if thats China White youre talkin about-well, friend, meet your new Daddy. Other releases on Columbus Discount Records, Fuckit Tapes and HoZac. Artist: RATAS DEL VATICANO
Title: Mocosos Pateticos
Format: LP
Label: Siltbreeze
Country: USA
Price: $13.00
"Ratas Del Vaticano ("Rats of the Vatican") are a quartet hailing from Monterrey, Mexico, who assail ears with a most excellent assemblage of punk spew that can best be pitched as "KBD-like." Some of the slicker dicks out there will be familiar with Mocosos Pateticos ("Pathetic Kids") already, as it was available for a short time in 2008 as a download on David Serranos Nene label. But for those unconcerned with being the emperors of ice cream, Siltbreeze put their money where your mouth is and are making this fantastic release available on the much-in-vogue LP format. Originally formed as a drunken joke (where have you heard that one before?), Ratas Del Vaticano quickly realized they were onto something. With the addition of Violeta on bass (fresh from a quick stint as second guitarist for Los Llamarada), the band felt solidified enough to cut some tracks. And, man, can these guys slice n dice! Guttural, sneering, cynical, sarcastic, Ratas Del Vaticano dish it out in buckets like rancid pozole. Tack on the crude, fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants recording quality, and youve got a monster to rival the likes of Sods, Mentally Ill, Guilty Razors, Sperma, or Tampax in the pantheon of Killed By Deaths greatest scuzz gladiators. Pressed in an edition of 700; look for Ratas Del Vaticano to play the Siltbreeze showcase at the forthcoming 2009 SXSW in Austin, and maybe even a US tour later in the year." -Siltbreeze

Artist: REP, MIKE AND THE QUOTAS
Title: Stupor Hiatus
Format: Double LP
Label: Siltbreeze
Country: USA
Price: $19.00
"Stupor Hiatus culls the complete recorded works of the original MIKE REP AND THE QUOTAS, dating back to 1974 and moving forward into the early 1990s. Essentially a reworking of the Stupor Hiatus Vol. 2 LP released by Siltbreeze in 1992 (minus the questionable original artwork and mysterious French-language insert), this definitive collection is that record in its entirety plus six additional tracks, four of which have never before been released. This double-LP includes the legendary "Rocket to Nowhere," a lovely instrumental interpretation of the 13th Floor Elevators "She Lives in a Time of Her Own," a cover of Roky Ericksons "Creature with the Atom Brain," a shout-out to the Strapping Fieldhands ("In the Pineys") and fifteen other immortal tracks. Those who already know, know. But if youre only familiar with the name Mike Rep as a producer for such acts as Guided By Voices, Strapping Fieldhands and Times New Viking, heres your chance to get caught up with a back catalog of extraordinary capacity. Before there were peckerwoods buzzing about lo-fi, Mike Rep--fed by a love for B-grade horror flicks, (the aforementioned) 13 Floor Elevators, Velvet Undergound, Kim Fowley and (blech!) The Doors-was concocting a mash of home-recorded punk, pop and psychedelia for a few fortunate ears. This isnt the Sunset Strip or Lower East Side, folks, its Grove City, Ohio, a scene ruled by codeine, cannabis and Carling. So be prepared to hunker down with a fuzzy, furry and fried collection of 20-plus years of sound from the vaults of one of Americas most important legends in the flesh. The Creeping Flesh, that is. One-time vinyl edition of 1000, includes download card." -Siltbreeze

Artist: RESINEATORS
Title: Dont ____ With Fantasy
Format: CD
Label: Siltbreeze
Country: USA
Price: $8.00
"Get ready to match the stars! The Resineators deliver the ultimate $500 response on their second full-length player, Dont ____ with the Fantasy, an instant California drug-classic of psych-expanded rockers, white-line fevers, and black-hole crawlers from San Franciscos overlords of panic. Panelists David Nudelman (3 Stoned Men, The Wild Breed) and Anthony Bedard (Icky Boyfriends, The Leather Uppers) have augmented their telepathic, two-man collision drill with Aaron Nudelman (Sunless Day) and Andy Oglesby (The Roofies) to forge this collection of 10 flypaper-melodic, primal-concussive, battered and deep-fried cans of corn. This statement episode was captured at TinTel Park in all its shimmering clarity and pummeling hi-fidelity by pause-button operator Greg Freeman (Thinking Fellers Union Local 282, Pell Mell) and mastered by John Croslin (Beulah, Guided by Voices). Over the past two seasons, The Resineators have thrilled spectators at national SuperMatch exhibitions against teams such as Jonathan Richman, Mudhoney, In The Red recording artist Andre Williams, Quintron, and Deerhoof. Their most recent Philadelphia appearance concluded with David "The Nude" Nudelman sailing through an open door on the Khyber Yards leftfield wall, out onto the street, and straight into the emergency ward of Siltbreeze Childrens Hospital, where the rarely smiling orthopedic trauma clinical director, Tiberius J. Lax, awaited, pen in hand, with a Vicodin-laced, cheesesteak-covered contract."

Artist: RODMAN-MELCHIOR, LETHA
Title: Handbook for Mortals
Format: LP
Label: Siltbreeze
Country: USA
Price: $16.00
"Known by the alias TRETETAM, LETHA RODMAN-MELCHIOR has released singular sound constructs on CDR and cassette since 2008 on such labels as Ikuisuus and Robert & Leopold. For her first-ever vinyl release, she sheds the veneer of mystery and comes clean with this sweeping haboob of sound, as deft and defying as horns on a hen. From the vantage of time and deep insight, some (i.e. Tom Lax) say Tretetam / Rodman-Melchiors unique audio gems find a middle ground between United Dairies (notably HNAS) and Vanity Records (ditto Mad Tea Party). But why not the let the artist herself fill you in on the Handbook for Mortals backstory? "From early on, I found that I liked listening to blended sounds of familiar things; TV, lawnmowers, children playing outside. I noticed that when I played records, I wouldnt flip them over because I found comfort  in hearing the needle stuck in its groove. "When I lived in Chinatown on Canal Street in New York, I loved to lay in bed and listen to the vendors shouting, blending with the heavy traffic and tiny wind chimes; I would pretend I was someplace else, somewhere I didnt know. I love that feeling. "I became interested in field recording after hearing Salmon Run by Graham Lambkin, and had found a website called The Quiet American. I began piecing my tracks together under the name Tretetam, and was influenced by Lambkin, Marcel Trkowsky, Emiliano Maggi, Moondog, Maya Derens films and more recently Aaron Dilloways Modern Jester and Ryan Martins York Factory Complaint / DeTrop. I also must say my husband Dan Melchior has been my musical hero since I met him in 1999." Siltbreeze is proud to add Rodman-Melchior to its illustrious and unique discography. A portion of all sales will go to the Letha Rodman-Melchior Cancer Fund. For more info on this, visit: http://melchiorfund.blogspot.com. Edition of 500 copies with download." -Siltbreeze.

Artist: RUSSELL, BRUCE
Title: Project for a Revolution in New York
Format: LP
Label: Siltbreeze
Country: USA
Price: $15.00
"The first Bruce Russell solo release Project for a Revolution in New York (Siltbreeze, LP only I believe) sees our man truly alone on the first side, messing with a guitar over a looped drone accompaniment. Remarkably subdued and dare I say, relaxing. Side two has Tom Lax (Siltbreeze mainman) and Paul Toohey (Surface of the Earth) helping out with percussion and electronics in a very free collaboration where what doesnt happen defines the tension of the piece as much as what does. Theres always been a tension between noise and minimalism in Russells music as evidenced on Project For a Revolution... and made especially apparent on the Crank Automotive release Maximalist Mantra Music . Two of the tracks here were recorded live at the Dux de Lux in Christchurch and the sounds of the audience map neatly into the low-intensity noise emanating from the stage to make you feel as though you were there." - noise.as. 1998 release.

"Spawned from the formidable Louisville, KY collective known as BLACK VELVET FUCKERE (VALLEY OF THE ASHES, PHANTOM FAMILY HALO, KARK, etc.), SAPAT resides as the centrifugal force in this Midwestern psychedelic madrigal set in the psychosexual backwaters of the mighty Ohio River. For the entirety of the 00 decade, members have kept busy collaborating with and/or massaging the egos of various and sundry avant-pontiffs such as Robert Fripp, Magik Markers, Dead Child (David Pajos metal band) and Eugene Chadbourne-when not honing the orgone energy of Sapat. For this self-titled full-length release, Sapat has opted for a more organic sonic waft. Acoustically packed to the gills, the octet effortlessly strums and blows breezy vibes, emitting kosmisch melodies and Teutonic ambience that channel-Julian Cope-like-past giants such as Limbus 4, Siloah and Lord Krishna Von Goloka (you know, the A-team of Krautrock). Once you launch into the groups spacey and entrancing, yet calming and soothing asteroid belt, you might mistake the Ozarks for the Alps if youre not careful. And who could blame you? Youre way up there and the airs thin; hallucinatings a must." - Siltbreeze.

Title: Going Thru a Hole in the Back of Your Head
Format: LP

Price: $16.00
"Siltbreeze is proud to announce the rerelease of the complete catalog from legendary Christchurch band (and Flying Nun alumnus) SCORCHED EARTH POLICY. From 1983-86, the group blackened the skies with a unique sound equal parts Southern no wave and post-apocalyptic surf, adding the trademark tinges of 60s garage / psych that coursed through the veins of every great Christchurch band from that era. Not that this should come as a surprise, as their membership was a veritable whos who of the citys finest musicians: PETER STAPLETON (VACUUM, PIN GROUP, TERMINALS), MARY HENEY (25 CENTS, SHALLOWS), BRIAN CROOK (MAX BLOCK, RENDERERS, TERMINALS), MICK ELBORADO (TERMINALS, SHALLOWS, GAS), ANDREA COCKS (MISSING PIECE PRODUCTIONS) and ANDREW DAWSON (DEDICATED HUMAN). During their existence, Scorched Earth Policy produced two 12-inch EPs for Flying Nun; their entire recorded output is presented here for the first time as one comprehensive LP, pressed in a limited edition of 500 copies. Title: Straight to Hell
Format: LP
Label: Siltbreeze
Country: USA
Price: $16.00
"While SHOES THIS HIGHs existence was a mere glint in the eye of Father Time (a year or more, tops), they made every second count, stalking the New Zealand post-punk landscape-both North and South islands-with ravenous abandon. For most fans, their legend and reputation rest solely on the strength of one highly formidable (and collectable) self-released 7-inch EP from 1981. And as anyone with ears whos had the good fortune to come in contact with its jagged, scabrous genius can attest, the cry invariably rings out afterward: "Mein Gott, is this all there is?" In the 30-plus years since its initial release, the answer has been a most unflinching "yes." That is, until Siltbreeze tapped into the massive tape library of famed New Zealand underground music archivist BOB SUTTON, who had in his possession a white-hot live scorcher of the group, culled from a set that went down at the infamous Billy the Club way back when. Straight to Hell showcases a band at the peak of their menacing powers. Guitarist KEVIN HAWKINS slashes and rips strings from his ax like a mad butcher; the rhythm section of JESSICA WALKER and CHRISTOPHER PLUMMER is par excellence, while the sneering, contemptuous vocals of singer S. BRENT HAYWARD spit like poison darts above the swagger. Expertly sequenced by JARED PHILLIPS (Times New Viking), Straight to Hell is a most welcome and astonishingly great artifact that delivers in buckets a shivering, toxic rain you always knew had fallen. Vinyl comes with a digital download of the complete album plus the four studio tracks from the original 1981 EP. One-time edition of 500-buy now or cry later." - Siltbreeze.

Historically (as in, now) known as hatching both George Henderson (later of The Puddle) and Christopher Plummer (who also thumped heads in Shoes This High), The Spies possessed a lithe but keen awareness of both the Canterbury and DIY movements that were taking place back in Old Blighty. The Battle of Bosworth Terrance imagines a bridge connecting Kevin Ayers and The Desperate Bicycles--a much-needed safe passage over a mysterious chasm you never knew was there. Its only taken 30+ years, but the larcenous abandon that was The Spies is finally willing and able to be heard, read about and seen for the first time. One-time edition of 500 copies, includes a digital download card." -Siltbreeze.

Title: Games For Slaves
Format: LP
Label: Siltbreeze
Country: USA
Price: $13.00
"Der TPK liken the sound of their second aural onslaught to "[The battle of] Kursk, second day." Who among us cannot relate to the largest tank battle in history? While the comparison may not be an easy nut to crack, the reference, specifically to the second day, is telling: the wonton destruction that unfolded on that field of battle in an attempt to break the Soviet bulge cannot be overstated. For the Germans, it was unmitigated tragedy. So by comparing Games for Slaves to this particular point in the offensive, Der TPK makes clear that album number two is more brooding and melancholy than Harmful Emotions. Bunker Wolfs menacing lupine-schrei is as formidable as ever, but the band has moved from the blitzkreig, almost hardcore-like pace of their Siltbreeze debut to a more Mancunian post-punk sound (angular guitars, rhythmic dirges), crossed with the luftschutszbunker psychedelia of German Oak (especially on the organ-laden tracks). Edmund Xaviers spidery guitar fills recall similar stylings of a young Bernard Sumner, while the bass/drum propulsion of Boy True and Catholic Pat call to mind the underrated talents of Slight Seconds Mike Shaw and Peter Hibbert. Getting back to Bunker Wolf, there is no one like him. Maybe if Peter Hind (Mittagspause-era) could still squeak while goose-stepping across the squat in a pair of leather trousers, then we might have some trouble. But that aint likely. No one does it in 2008 like Teenage Panzerkorps. Games for Slaves is more beauteous gas on an already raging and spectacular fire. Edition of 500 with insert and single-sided, silk-screened, black-and-white cover." -Siltbreeze

"A collection of songs found on various cassettes (left as street shrines to the bands genius) from TIMES NEW VIKING. Lovingly fucked with by producer MIKE REP (GBVs Propeller and Get Out Of My Stations), Dig Yourself features eleven tracks of raw, primitive sounds, loaded with wheezing and croaking organs, flesh-hacking guitars, sick-snapping drums, and frantic male and female vocal dramas. TNV successfully skirt the current homogenization of the rock press pigeonhole. Neither are they new-weird-America, nor are they new-noise-underground. One suspects rather that the band is at the forefront of a new, yet-to-be defined movement." - Siltbreeze.

"What you have here is a collection of songs found on the various shrine cassettes. Theyve all been lovingly fucked with by Mr. Mike Rep, (the man behind the lo-fi genius of Guided By Voices Propeller and Get Out Of My Stations among other things) and as the old saying goes the proof is in the pudding. TNV successfully skirt the current homogenization of the rock press pigeonhole. Neither are they new-weird-America, nor are they newnoise-underground. I suspect Times New Viking are at the forefront of a new, yet-to-be defined movement." - SIltbreeze. "the eleven songs contained herein are marked with reverence. Think of Dig Yourself as its own shrine, dedicated to the kling klang of classic lo-fi pop experimentalism and punk sentimentality - Xpressway Records back in the day, old school Dead C, GBV prior to the endless name checks, or shades of the Swell Maps mixed with a hundred unheard Nuggets-era singles. Without a doubt, this is one of the most surprising records of the year." - Dusted.

"Eight years after their partnership began with the debut of Dig Yourself, TIMES NEW VIKING and Siltbreeze join forces again for the bands latest outing-six tracks, the result of a recent creative (albeit, modest) outpouring of ideas. Whats interesting to note here is how the trio tempers the primal panic-punk of their salad days and fuses it with the sustained, keen pop skill found within their later catalog.  Its hard to know where Times New Viking goes from here, but for right now, this perfectly distilled elixir of sound shows a band firing on all cylinders. "The lastest from Columbus, Ohios TIMES NEW VIKING ably avoids D.S.A. syndrome (an acronym coined by The Shadow Ring meaning "difficult second album"). Having developed even more vim and vigor, TNVs blur of high-concept pop, crud, and crunch is staggering. Its the malcontented rumble of Times New Viking wistfully channeling spirits from the grime of Washington Beach to the shine of the Otago Peninsula. And in Reich-speak, that may take a thousand years to achieve, but you dont have to be a Scottish weaver to know that paisley wasnt patterned in a day. Patience is a grace. Continuing their penchant for a-side covers, this time the ladies tackle Palais Schaumburgs Wir Bauen Eine Neue Stadt (or We Build A New City if you speak only in Gods preferred tongue) & the results are as devastatingly great as could be imagined. Stripped of its NDW gloss, Titmachines reworking is more doused in raw Gueuze than refined Pilsener. In other words, them yeasts be wild yall! The flip is an awesome (& original) little jawdropper entitled 1989 & is remarkably akin to what the Shaggs might sound like tackling the Urinals Ack Ack Ack. The two-track full-length continues their foray into post-psychedelic instrumental morphine, where Moolahs LP and Pink Floyds "Several Species of Small Furry Animals Gathered Together in a Cave and Grooving with a Pict" function as templates for the greater good. "Following a gaggle of seven-inches for goose-y labels such as X!, Whats Your Rupture?, S-S, and MLadys Records, Tyvek delivers a long-player that couldnt make Siltbreeze happier were the colonel slathered in foie gras and seared to a crisp. A few tracks on this effort are familiar to any who saw the band live in 2008; the rest, well, its as fresh as new fallen snow when you get right down to it. Combining an uncanny channeling of The Urinals and early Mekons, Tyvek drops jaws to floors with solid acorns of repetitive punk/pop numbers that became oaks almost instantaneously. The inclusion of Damon (a.k.a. Teets of Puffy Areolas) brings in another sonic dimension and suddenly the bands set veers into a Velvet Underground-by-way-of-The Feelies stratosphere. Here yuoll find a mixture of both, the blend of two perfect worlds. Practically a year in the making, this baby is worth every second of the wait." - Siltbreeze.

"The second full-length release by U.S. Girls is an even more fully realized excursion into a hazy alternate universe where pop vocals and muzzy scree fuse in harmony. Go Grey conjures up ambient aerosols while luminous kaleidoscopes of sound sizzle, peak, and explode. Megan Remy is a chanteuse from (perhaps) the future, guiding all who choose to sail an evocative trip through her unique aural hallucinogenic landscapes. Its a journey of lush vistas, warm currents, and complex beauties. 23nd-Century-style, of course. So come aboard and see why U.S. Girls is being hailed the Eno of the 50s--the 2250s! Can you imagine? "If the alluring moniker used by Megan Remy conjures images of volleyball teams or cheerleading squads, forget it. Not that theres any doubt that Remy--sorry, U.S. Girls--couldnt rise and conquer either challenge. Like fellow DIY ingenues Sally Strobelight and Inca Ore, U.S. Girls approach is deceptively ethereal and delightfully haunting; lithe, lysergic gamma rays of keyboard murk beamed over percussive bonk sort of resemble Diamanda Galas reinterpreting Suicides Red Star. And dig that cover of Bruce Springsteens "Prove It All Night," done in such an effortless, barbital lush youd swear the air was filled with mescaline. Guess what? Its not." - Siltbreeze

"Although they only got a couple of spins around the earths axis, Vacuum were the band who wrote the clay tablets from which all great Christchurch groups worth a plug would glean substance to formulate THAT sound. Originating in 1977 & consisting of members Bill Direen, Stephen Cogle, Peter Stapleton, Peter Fryer & Alan Meek, Vacuum perfected an aural symmetry that fused classic Nuggets, Roxy, Elevators & Velvets moves as a template & this unique plonk would become germane for all that sailed after. Deep collectors will recognize these tracks by name from various prior releases, but these particular recordings-culled from 78/79 rehearsal tapes-are being made available here for the 1st time, EVER. Kicks would go on to become an early staple in Direens Builders discography, but the guitar on this version is particularly & wonderfully unhinged. The beautiful serenity of Cogles Shade - masterfully driven by Meeks keyboard--is as crisp out of the gate as the later honed version familiar in the oeuvre of the Victor Dimisich Band. The real thunderclap of the bunch is Accident (another take can be found on The Builders Beatin Hearts lp) where it sounds like someone spiked the Tia Maria with peyote & as a result, the band has psychically disemboweled Heard Her Call My Name & fed the guts to Amon Duul. Ive said it for years, electric liqueurs dont lie! One time edition of 300. File alongside; Six Impossible Things, Pin Group, Builders, Victor Dimisich Band, Above Ground, Scorched Earth Policy, Dadamah & Terminals." - Siltbreeze.

For the uninformed, Vacuum were the genesis, the ground zero, the guys that forged the ChCh "sound". While the bands lifespan was short, its members would go on to soon after form Bilders, Pin Group, Victor Dimisich Band, Scorched Earth Policy & Terminals. Title: Under The Blood Red Lava Lamp
Format: CD
Label: Siltbreeze
Country: USA
Price: $12.00
"Connecting all the dots to get the complete Vertical Slit picture has been a grail-like task for hundreds of record collectors since the band and its leader Jim Shepard were outed in Forced Exposure # 13 in the late 80s. Whether James Johnson counts himself among the minuscule number of V/Slit completists is moot; the impeti for initial digging around and eventual article-publishing were the basement roar and defiant outsider vibe of the Smudge seven-inch (New Age, 1981) and Under the Blood Red Lava Lamp cassette (Old Age, 1986). Apocryphal? Perhaps. Baloney? Perhaps not. Still, the end result remains the same: the word was out and here we all are. Save some room, theres pie. This CD collects all the tracks from both the Smudge EP and the Lava Lamp cassette, both of which were recorded live in the latter part of 1980. Vertical Slit-at any time-were an anomaly whose live sound was unlike any other band preening around the south campus of Ohio State. They most assuredly did not nod in the direction of either NME or NY Rocker. Instead they pinned back ears Creem-style; three meth-baked, beer-soaked shamen who concocted a unique midwestern prog/metal slobber somewhere between In the Court of the Crimson King and Sabbath Bloody Sabbath. Even though no onell read about em in The Wire, no less of an authority than Chuck Eddy immortalized V/Slit when he ranked Lava Lamp number 455 in his "seminal" book Stairway to Hell: The 500 Top Heavy Metal Albums of All Time, beating out not only the two aforementioned influences (at 460 and 488 respectively) but also Confusion Is Sex (number 459). Says Chuckles, "[Lava Lamp] adds up to a moss of pedal-mass not unlike Hearthan-era Pere Ubu." Get the picture? And for those of you who can only be moved by Joy Division covers (hello!), V/Slits version of "I Remember Nothing," done as a tribute to Ian Curtis (who had died in May of 80), absolutely (to be enunciated Eddy-like) gets atomized! So surrender your shekels and climb aboard. In the eternal words of Jim Shepard, "Its here/Its now/Eat it up/Youll enjoy." Contains original Lava Lamp liner notes as well as a remembrance from Old Age/New Age honcho (and Anyway recording artist) Mike Rep." - Siltbreeze.

Artist: VICTOR DIMISICH BAND
Title: S/T
Format: LP
Label: Siltbreeze
Country: USA
Price: $16.00
"Siltbreeze is proud to announce the long-awaited vinyl retrospective of perhaps the most elusive of all Christchurch ensembles, THE VICTOR DIMISICH BAND. Originally released in 1983 on Flying Nun in a minuscule edition, the bands lone self-titled 12-inch has become a cult classic more sought-after than owned. Through the intervening years, both the Xpressway and Medication labels issued cassette and CD compilations of the bands material. With a unique sound that fused an almost gothic styling with warbly desert psych a la 13th Floor Elevators, The Victor Dimisich Band created its own genre, one that still has not been been aptly codified to date. Membership included PETER STAPLETON (VACUUM, PIN GROUP, SCORCHED EARTH POLICY), STEPHEN COGLE (Vacuum, TERMINALS), ALAN MEEK (Vacuum, BILDERS), TONY OGRADY and MARY HENEY (25 CENTS, Scorched Earth Policy). Historians and enthusiasts know that Heney replaced OGrady just prior to the recording of the 12-inch, as the former had become a born-again Christian and sold his equipment. So there you have it. Limited edition of 500 copies, includes digital download coupon." -Siltbreeze.

Artist: WATERY LOVE
Title: Die With Dignity/Leave Me Alone
Format: 7"
Label: Siltbreeze
Country: USA
Price: $8.00
"Another two shots of bilious commentary courtesy of Philadelphias best band at the moment. The A-side is penned by RICHARD CHARLES; a litany of condescending, sneering lyrics behind the roar of what sounds like the gear shaft of a Kensington garbage truck being stripped out and blazing a path of fire down Girard Ave. You know, the kind of good timey tunage you can only light up somewhere between Mecht Mensh & Iron Cross. The flip is an interpretation of a song written by Louis Allan Reed. But WATERY LOVEs cover eschews all manner of hip, uptown vibrato found on the original, preferring to accessorize their stud w/the leather & switchblade swagger needed in a sketchy, downtown milieu. You know, the kind of controlled lunacy you can only sniff out somewhere between John Cale & Chain Gang. Thick black vinyl pressing housed in a sweet high gloss sleeve. One time edition of 330." - Siltbreeze.

Title: Sunshine Of Your Love
Format: LP
Label: Siltbreeze
Country: USA
Price: $13.00
"XNo BBQX are hardcore vegans hailing from Sydney, Australia. Thats right--vegans; the only similarity Matt (guitar) and Nick (drums) share with Cream is a title. All you dairy lovers out there, keep your slowhands in plain sight. This will only take a second. Originally released some time back on the cassette-only label Breakdance The Dawn, Sunshine Of Your Love pricks up the ears in much the same way as a Han Bennink recording might, and left Siltbreeze wondering, whats left in that studio thats not broken? Answer: Only their will! Matt and Nick had played together a couple of times as part of Antipan (with Sumu and Anthony Guerra). On a day off, in a shed out back of a sharehouse in Newtown, the duo did a couple sets with computers and turntables with no records, but then Matt suggested Nick give the drums a go (hed played a full kit only once prior). They plugged into the cassette deck--left channel, guitar; right channel, mic under the floor tom--and played. Apart from minor adjustment of levels, the end result was basically that. The Philly beak doctors immediately procured rights to reissue the disheveled masterpiece on vinyl so that 500 (or fewer) not-yet-but-inevitable fans could bask in the warmth of its crud-o-phonic bullion. And here it is. Youre welcome. Citing both Harry Pussy and Mouthus as influences, XNo BBQX rocks with a lot of junk in their collective trunk, so of course Sunshine Of Your Love sounds like nothing (or everything) anyones heard before. Tom Lax had a steamroller squash his foot once. It hurt--a lot. Hes known pain, but this is a sensation like no other. XNo BBQX might not be a steamroller and youre definitely not Tom Laxs foot, but they have fists and Sunshine Of Your Love will gladly pound your ears into cauliflower if you let it..." -Siltbreeze.
