Artist: ART MUSEUMS
Title: Dancing with a Hole in Your Heart
Format: 7
Label: Slumberland
Country: USA
Price: $4.00
"THE ART MUSEUMS exploded onto the imaginary Pop Art scene in their minds back in 2010 with the widely acclaimed Rough Frame LP on Woodsist. Comfortably occupying the spot where 60s pop suss meets first-wave post-punk DIY pop and contemporary bedroom experimentation, they craft positively giddy tunes that make terms like lo-fi and indie-pop redundant and pointless; this is just great pop made by people who know and love it. The Museums GLENN DONALDSON and JOSH ALPER have been at it in the bedroom for a little while now and are there for you when youre feeling confused, lonely or alienated and only a 45 RPM single can help. "Dancing With a Hole in Your Heart" is an ace sing-along tune that would be right at home on Dan Treacys legendary Whaam! label, a succinct 1:30 of slashing, modish guitars and great vocal harmonies. "Imaginary Day" and "You Dont Want to Live Like That" are equally fab-catchy tunes filled with earnestly strummed guitars, thumping drum machines and cheap keyboards. Crucial, elemental pop thrills." - Slumberland.

Artist: BRILLIANT COLORS
Title: Introducing
Format: LP
Label: Slumberland
Country: USA
Price: $10.00
Singer / guitarist JESS SCOTT started BRILLIANT COLORS in early 2007, and shes been mighty busy since then. After a steady stream of line-up changes, Scott has finally settled on a permanent line-up with the addition of East Coast transplants DIANE "ANASTASIO and MICHELLE HILL (a veteran of a number of Bay Area underground punk outfits, as well as touring guitarist for legendary UK punk / dub group THE SLITS!). Following up two sold-out singles (on Make a Mess and Captured Tracks) and mounting fervor from all corners of the pop underground blog-o-world, Brilliant Colors debut album is as an undeniable contender for best pop record of 2009. The band has honed their songwriting to a fine edge, delivering ten tracks of sharp, subtly catchy indie pop that finds them more assuredly rounding out the corners of their DIY-punk-meets-Shop Assistants, 78-86 pop collision. Vinyl includes a digital download." -Slumberland.

Artist: BRILLIANT COLORS
Title: Never Mine
Format: 7
Label: Slumberland
Country: USA
Price: $4.50
"San Franciscos BRILLIANT COLORS have staked out a unique spot in the indie music landscape. Inspired in equal parts by DIY post-punk fervor and the spiky pop of C86 and early Flying Nun / Creation label output, they hearken back to a time when the best tunes came out on 7-inch singles and weekends were spent digging through the stacks at your favorite local record shop. Their 2009 album, Introducing, is one of the finest debuts in recent memory, combining guitar buzz with dreamy melodies and rushing rhythms into some unlikely combination of The Dils and Shop Assistants. Now the band is back with their first new recordings since that great album, and boy, are they winners. "Never Mine" is two minutes of punk-pop perfection-singer/guitarist JESS SCOTTs spare riff underpinned by DIANE ANASTASIOs steady thump and MICHELLE HILLs busy, melodic bassline. Its Brilliant Colors in a nutshell: crunchy garage punk played with total purposefulness, leavened by an instinctive pop sense. On the flip side, the pace picks up for "Kissings Easy"-all rolling snares and frantic guitar strum and Scotts echoey vocal sass. Recorded with DIY simplicity by TY SEGALL." - Slumberland.

Artist: CRYSTAL STILTS
Title: Alight of Night
Format: CD
Label: Slumberland
Country: USA
Price: $13.00
"Its no secret that Brooklyn is home to mighty happening music, but few bands have as unique a vibe and presence as CRYSTAL STILTS. Alight of Night delivers on the promise of the bands well received early singles. There is an unmistakable flavor of The Velvet Underground to be had, but Crystal Stilts spectral avant-garage also references the spooked 60s Texas psych of The 13th Floor Elevators and Red Crayola, the gothic blues/punk howl of The Gun Club, the dark, experimental DIYism of early Flying Nun/Xpressway groups Pin Group and Plagal Grind, and a post-punk minimalism that brings to mind early Rough Trade and Factory releases. A strong pop element brings to mind the buzzsaw bubblegum of early Jesus and Mary Chain B-sides and Meat Whiplash. These are all just rough points of reference, as the band adds something extra and unique to the mix, whether its a fleeting dash of harmonica, a hypnotic organ line, or simply an amazing guitar sound. A unity of purpose is at work here, a special mood conjured by the sounds, production and sequence of songs that lifts Alight of Night into the realm of the classics and reveals new twists and turns on each listen. Features members of Vivian Girls, The Ninjas, and Ladybug Transistor." -Slumberland

Artist: DUM DUM GIRLS
Title: Bhang Bhang, Im a Burnout
Format: 7"
Label: Slumberland
Country: USA
Price: $6.00
"Led by the mysterious DEE DEE, DUM DUM GIRLS churn out pop music that adheres to her self-proclaimed M.O.: "blissed-out buzz-saw." Dee Dee formed the project in late 2008 as a solo endeavor-the name a nod to both The Vaselines album, Dum-Dum, and the Iggy Pop song "Dum Dum Boys"-and released a series of great singles on esteemed labels like HoZac and Captured Tracks, culminating in the fab debut album I Will Be on Sub Pop. "Bhang Bhang, Im a Burnout" is one of the toughest songs on the album, a fuzz-laden slice of garage pop with a killer chorus that muses on the virtues of psychedelics. "Last Caress" on the flip is of course a cover of the classic horror-punk Misfits tune. It hearkens back to Dee Dees more minimal roots, her fragile vocals and jangling guitar getting right to the pop at the core of the song. While most Misfits covers try to out-punk the originals, Dee Dee wisely plays to her strengths and delivers something haunting and completely true to her vision." -Slumberland.

Artist: GIRLS NAMES/BRILLIANT COLORS
Title: I Lose/You Win
Format: 7
Label: Slumberland
Country: USA
Price: $4.00
"GIRLS NAMES formed in Belfast in January 2009 with their first gig booked before the duo had even played together. In their short existence, theyve quickly streamlined their sound, forging a self-styled "disposable noise pop" reminiscent of the 80s shadow world of Black Tambourine and Felt. Theyve been prolific, too, honing their sound over the course of several releases, including an EP on Captured Tracks and a mini-album on Tough Love. "I Lose" represents the next step in their evolution. Marking the first time Girls Names has recorded as a three-piece, the track is driven by an insistent cyclical riff, punctuated by CATHAL CULLYs deceptively assured croon. San Franciscos BRILLIANT COLORS have staked-out a unique spot in the indie music landscape, inspired in equal parts by post-punk DIY fervor and the spiky pop of C86 and early Flying Nun / Creation label output. Their 2009 album Introducing combined guitar buzz with dreamy melodies and rushing rhythms, forming a startling blend of The Dils and Shop Assistants. Driven by an absurdly catchy vocal melody and the bands now trademark distorted guitars, "You Win" (recorded by TY SEGALL) is another anthem in Brilliant Colors ever-growing catalog, offering a superb taster for their new album, due Spring 2011." -Slumberland

Artist: SIC ALPS
Title: L Mansion
Format: 7"
Label: Slumberland
Country: USA
Price: $5.00
"SIC ALPS make music with their eyes on the past but their feet firmly in the present. Bits of psychedelia, folk, garage, punk, and other fuh fairly well flow from their fingers, seamlessly worked together to render easy categorizations pointless. Over the course of numerous singles and albums, Sic Alps MIKE DONOVAN and MATT HARTMAN have carved themselves a snug niche filled with fuzz, crackle, vibes, and most of all, cracking tunes. Continuing this fine tradition is "L. Mansion," a swinging little folk / beat tune that is totally timeless / out of time in the way of Sic Alps best songs. Its as straightforwardly "pop" as anything theyve done, and a totally effective summertime single. On the flip is a banging cover of the other Donovans ode to puff-"Superlungs." Wild and thumping, the pair have definitely taken the Sunshine Superman on a little side trip to Detroit rock city." - Slumberland

Artist: SPECTRALS
Title: 7th Date
Format: 7"
Label: Slumberland
Country: USA
Price: $4.00
"SPECTRALS is the creation of "L," a young lad from the North of England, where not having a baby and a criminal record by the age of 18 is seen as unusual. After playing in various basement punk bands, L combined his love of doo wop and girl-groups, adding a bit of Rat-Pack flair and a punk rock vibe, and came up with Spectrals. They have already released an excellent single for Captured Tracks and toured the UK with bands such as Girls, Real Estate and Desolation Wilderness. 7th Date is Spectrals first release for Slumberland. The A-side combines classic 50s songwriting with a lazy swing and drawling, Westerberg-ish vocals. Understated guitar twang snakes through tremelod strum, punctuated by tambourine shakes and tinkling bells. The flip "Dont Mind" is a gorgeous piece of slow-dance perfection, evoking scenes of beach bonfires and the end of summer. Theres a weepy, woozy vibe to Ls vocals, his sighing "ahh ahh" back-ups drifting skyward through the jangle riffs to the starry skies The balance of timeless songwriting and modern suss is pitch-perfect, and 7th Date shows Spectrals to be purveyors of smart, modern pop of the first order. All copies on colored vinyl." -Slumberland

Artist: WEEKEND
Title: Sports
Format: Double 12"
Label: Slumberland
Country: USA
Price: $19.00
"Within a grainy film-still between a summer sunset and the end of times lies the post-punk squall of WEEKEND. The band filters the aggression, tempo and sneer of punk through a wall of reverb, haunting melody, feedback and primitive garage guitar. Formed in San Francisco in late 2009, theyve quickly developed a totally distinctive take on the history of noise rock. Combining noisy guitars, pounding rhythms and dark post-punk vibes in fresh ways isnt easy, but Weekend somehow does it effortlessly. Sports is one of the most assured debuts in recent memory, full of rumbling rhythms, layers of loud guitar and most of all great songs that pay special attention to texture and atmosphere while leavening even the most riotous moments with unexpected shards of melody. Spread across four sides of vinyl cut at 45 RPM (and of course CD), Sports is an authoritative statement of intent from a sharp new band, and surely one of the best albums of 2010. Previous release was a limited 10-inch single on Mexican Summer. Vinyl includes a download." -Slumberland
