Format: Double LP
Label: Vinyl-On-Demand
Country: Germany
Price: $36.00
“Limited edition of 200. Anode has been the professional alias of Robert Carlberg since 1972. The Seattle-based musician has dabbled in musique concrète, minimalist tape music, drones, manipulations, and other non-keyboard-based electronics. Through founding a newsletter for electronic musicians in 1979 called SYNEX (together with Charles Larrieu), establishing one of the first DIY tape labels (Anode Productions, which released works by Anode and Kerry Leimer), and writing a monthly column for Electronic Musician magazine (1979-1989) and Polyphony, Carlberg was one of the very first active cassette-producing artists, label-runners, editors, networkers, and catalysts for the worldwide DIY electronic music exchange, and one of the most important persons and influential artists in what has come to be known as "cassette culture." This double LP includes tracks from Anode (1979), Trips North Trips South (1979), Kinetic Experiments (rec. 1974-79, rel. 1981), Early Tapeworm (1975), Floyd Cramers Hall of Gold (1975), and Year of The Taperecorder.” - Vinyl-On-Demand.

Title: A Career in Dancing - Abstraction Years 1979-81
Format: 5 LP Box/10"
Label: Vinyl-On-Demand
Country: Germany
Price: $119.00
"Highly anticipated box set covering the musical output from 1979 to 1981 by one of the ultimate musical genius and protagonists of British minimal synth and EBM. Multi-talented Luton-based Adrian Smith started his first musical exploration in the field of electronic and experimental music in the mid 70s, self-releasing projects on his Abstractions label, including projects called Underland and Electrodub, the latter of which gained recognition from Throbbing Gristles Industrial Records. During 1979 and 1981, after leading punk-orientated bands with his brother Derek Smith for three years (Those Nervous Surgeons, Nervous Surgeons, Half Nervous), Adrian Smith recorded six tapes, all reissued here for the first time, with almost six hours of atmospheric, powerful minimal synth music from which no listener can escape without experiencing wonderful feelings and emotions. His first two tapes from 1979 (From the Silent Days and Absolutely Safe) were only given to friends (due to a lack of contacts and the absence of what would later become a thriving cassette culture) and therefore remained almost unheard. With the release of A Career in Dancing in the summer of 1980 (a compilation of his early works from those two tapes plus a selection of new material), he increasingly gained appreciation on an international level, winning acclaim from both press and individuals within the developing tape-trader community. Before long people such as Martin Reed of the Mirage label became interested in releasing his works. Members of the press and editors such as Chris Jones of Flowmotion.Mag began reviewing. With the fourth and fifth releases, Look (Mirage, 1980) and The Mental Dance (1981), he managed to get into the Cassette "Obscurist" Charts in Sounds Magazine (run by Paul Platypus, later Paddy Shennan) and finally received attention and recognition. For his sixth tape, Killing Time (1981), Smith started a label called Lung Function, possibly related to the fact that the sound was changing from atmospheric minimal synth to a harsher and rougher sound, which laid the foundation for the typical EBM sound of Click Click, which Smith and his brother started around that time, a sound best experienced on the Behind Dark Glasses tape." - Vinyl-On-Demand.

Artist: ART INTERFACE
Title: Secretaries from Heaven/Wild Card
Format: Double LP
Label: Vinyl-On-Demand
Country: Germany
Price: $34.00
“Art Interface was a synth band uninfluenced by the direction of mainstream European synth stylings. A band from the American Midwest (except for the Swedish drummer), it was initiated in 1979 by Douglas Vasey, Steven Curran, and Claes Roswall, with Roger Deason joining later. They disdained Kraftwerk but loved NEU! and bands like The Stooges. Propelled by live drums instead of marching lockstep to the beat of a drum machine, they twisted knobs on impulse with no idea of what would happen. They recorded many songs in the studio with all members playing at once but recording on separate tracks, which gives them a looseness and a life contrary to the more robotic feel of the time. Some songs had a sociopolitical bent and thus a purpose; others were merely wild, unexpected accidents of immediate creation, ranging from melodic to ambient to noise to all of the above. Unlike many synth bands, guitar often figured into the mix -- sometimes in the background, and sometimes as a striking accent over the synths, but never as a traditional lead. Their first synth-based tape,Secretaries from Heaven, released on their own If Records in early 1982, was meant as a kind of parody. The combination of simple, self-playing sounds and Vaseys great lyrics was stronger than anyone expected. Two 7" (Secretaries from Heaven and Wardance) followed 1983 and 84, respectively. In 1986 they released their full-length debut, Great Big World of Noise and Shit, and another demo tape called Its Not the Way It Should Have Been But Thats the Way It Is. This double LP collection, also available as part of the expansive 80s Minimal.Synth.Wave: Volume III box set (VOD 138LP), combines tracks from all of the releases described above.” - Vinyl-On-Demand.

Artist: BAND OF HOLY JOY
Title: (More) Favourite Fairytales For Juvenile Delinquents
Format: 3 LP Box + 7"
Label: Vinyl-On-Demand
Country: Germany
Price: $77.00
Limited edition of 333. Includes hand-numbered certificate. "A box-release covering the Band Of Holy Joys cassette released artistic output from 1983 to 1986, split on 3 records. Band Of Holy Joy were formed in the summer of 1983 when Johny and Max found a synthesizer in the cellar of the squatted New Cross Gate house they were living in. They started messing about on this synth and started writing songs on it. The songs however were very messy and the discovery of an old plastic harmonium in a local junk shop only added to the chaos. They brought in Brett Turnbull to bring a sense of order to the noise they were creating. Brett brought along Martine Thoquenne with him and the noise in the cellar started becoming very interesting indeed. A person who is much forgotten but quite instrumental in what went on was George Lovell. John Jenkins, a photographer who was around the house, was persuaded to trade his camera for a mouth organ, tambourine and various other instruments. The Band Of Holy Joy, a completed entity, started to create strange sounds and songs began to emerge. Cultural interests at this time were 8 and 35mm film, Bertol Brecht stage play and the electronic disco sounds that could be heard and bought uptown. Subjects that fired their imaginations were media scare stories, prescription medications, institutional living, big cities, bad glamor and self-preservation in vulnerable situations. There was an affinity and shared living space with the constructivist outfit Test Dept who took Band Of Holy Joy out on tour with them resulting in very early performances in Manchester, Sheffield and Retford. When they returned to London they entered the studio and began to record and assemble tracks to go alongside the porta studio recordings, cut ups, and collages they were creating at home. They also played with Einsturzende Neubauten around this time. The band was interested in the emerging cassette culture of the day. The first cassette was Favourite Fairytales For Juvenile Delinquents which was released in 1983 More Favourite Fairytales was recorded on a four track portastudio which was released in 1984. The band would often make and play their own instruments as well as make their own films. A special post-punk pre-acid house, a creatively perfect time to be young and full of noise, word and image in London." - Vinyl-On-Demand.

Artist: BARRECA, MARC
Title: Recordings 1977-1983
Format: LP
Label: Vinyl-On-Demand
Country: Germany
Price: $22.00
"Limited edition of 200. Marc Barreca is an American synthesist and multi-instrumentalist and one of the pioneers of American cassette culture. Inspired by Brian Eno and the ambient school, he began recording his own music in the mid-70s. By 1980 he already recorded three tapes: In a Foreign Land (1977), Raw Fish and Green Tea (1979/80), and Currents (1979/80) -- all three only released and distributed via Eurock in an extremely low quantity. In 1980 he released his first LP, Twilight, on K. Leimers Palace of Lights label; a tape called Music Works for Industry would follow three years later on Palace of Lights, and another, The Sleeper Wakes, three years later on Jeff Greinkes Intrepid label. Besides performing together with James Husted and Roland Barker as the Seattle-based electronic music group Young Scientist in the late 1970s and early 1980s, he was also a member of K. Leimers studio group Savant. Barreca uses digital and analog synthesizers, digital samplers, environmental field recordings, and computer-processed audio loops to create multi-layered audio compositions. He employs similar techniques to those used in his audio recordings to create multilayered abstract visual compositions from digital photos and video source material. This LP includes tracks from Raw Fish and Green Tea (1979/80), Currents (1979/80), Music Works for Industry (1983), and In a Foreign Land (1977).” - Vinyl-On-Demand.

Artist: BENDER, JOHN
Title: Memories of Mindless Mechanical Monologues 1976-1985
Format: 7 LP + 7"
Label: Vinyl-On-Demand
Country: Germany
Price: $170.00
“2015 repress of the 2012 box set. John Bender is without a doubt the protagonist, if not the inventor, of the musical genre known as minimal wave. His synthesizer sounds carried elements of techno and acid a decade before the invention of techno. His voice and his somewhat sentimental, mournful lyrics made his music outstanding and extraordinary, an unprecedented mixture of elements. His three self-released LPs -- I Dont Remember Now (1980),Plaster Falling (1981), and Pop Surgery (1983) -- are must-haves for every serious collector and anyone interested in coldwave, minimal synth, and techno sounds. This seven-LP box set (with bonus 7") includes I Dont Remember Now, Plaster Falling (with selections from several tape releases known as Plaster: The Prototypes (1981)), Pop Surgery (also with selections from Plaster: The Prototypes), Packing List (1982), At the 4th St. Cage 1/83 (1983), Do the Cage (1983), and tracks from The Cassette (1986), originally released under Benders Johnny Vortex moniker.” - Vinyl-on-Demand.

Artist: BERRY, RON
Title: Where Dark Forces Meet
Format: LP
Label: Vinyl-On-Demand
Country: Germany
Price: $22.00
Limited edition of 444. Includes hand-numbered certificate. "A vinyl reissue of Ron Berrys Where Dark Forces Meet, originally released on cassette in 1982. Ron became interested in electronics as a child in the mid-fifties, making radios and other electronic projects. He built my first synthesizer from a magazine article, but the performance wasnt that great so he started to modify it. Before too long hed built a modular system of his own design. Microprocessor boards became affordable at the end of the seventies. The outcome of the experiments was a fully programmable sequencer and an electronic percussion unit. A friend of Rons, Phil Clogg, became interested in it. The result of this was to form an electronic duo called Out of Control around 1979. It was based around two modular synthesizers, guitar, vocals and a further synthesizer and electronic percussion controlled by my unique microprocessor based sequencer. The microprocessor generated all the basic rhythmic backing control patterns for the synthesizers and electronic percussion during the whole of the gig. Phil played guitar, sang vocals plus playing a pedal board for some extra bass depth. They were one of the first bands in the UK to employ a computer for live music creation and generation. For them this was so much better than using a fixed backing on a tape recorder as some were doing. The duo was a huge turning point for Ron. After Out of Control, Ron produced his first electronic music album Where Dark Forces Meet, released on cassette on the independent Flowmotion. The album is basically a 4 track multi-track recording, with extra atmospheres and effects flown in using a couple of additional two track tape recorders. The mixing desk at the time was six channels, plus the mixers on Rons synthesizers. From the success of this, he really wanted to develop his own solo electronic rock ambient music live, so he concentrated on expanding the sequencer to produce polyphonic control patterns and added a Godwin string synth. To date, Ron has produced fourteen albums of solo electronic music, ranging from rock to more ambient experimental styles. Ron has continued to experiment and build stuff when he could. Since then analog has largely given way to digital. He has embraced and exploited much of this technology along the way but in some respects he remained "old school" as a lot of todays highly compressed digital earplug music is not exactly to his taste." - Vinyl-On-Demand.

2013 release. "Limited edition of 500. Ian Boddy is a prolific British electronic musician and composer. He has been active since the early 80s with numerous releases and contributions to many international labels such as Flowmotion, Mirage, Signal Records, Colin Potters ICR, Third Mind, his own DiN label (founded in 1999), and many more. His creative output is influenced by 70s German krautrock/electronica, especially artists like Tangerine Dream and Klaus Schulze. In the late 70s and early 1980s Boddy began experimenting at an Arts Council-funded studio in Newcastle called Spectro Arts Workshop, where he was able to use the facility and its equipment (e.g. VCS 3, EMS, etc.) to compose and record his first compositions. This early period resulted in three cassette releases on the Mirage label, which showcased Boddys work with analog synthesis and tape manipulation -- Images (1979/80), Elements of Chance (1981), and Options (1982). This three-LP box set includes all three tape releases plus additional bonus and live material from this period." - Vinyl-On-Demand.

Artist: BRADBURY, GARRY
Title: Panspermia
Format: Double LP + 7"
Label: Vinyl-On-Demand
Country: Germany
Price: $40.00
“Garry Bradbury is widely considered one of Australias pioneers of electronic music. From 1980 to 1985, Bradbury was a member of the seminal electronic post-punk project Severed Heads alongside Tom Ellard, Richard Fielding, and others. The group released a series of seminal albums, including Blubberknife (1982), Since the Accident(1983), City Slab Horror (1985), and the retrospective Clifford Darling, Please Dont Live in the Past (1985). These works were characterized by dynamic integration of experimental musical practices, such as tape manipulations, cut-ups, and the use of found sounds, with more conventional musical forms containing recognizable beats and melodies. Bradbury also directed and designed, with various collaborators, three Severed Heads videos, for the tracks "Goodbye Tonsils," "Canine," and "Big Car." In 1988 he released his first solo album, Drug Induced Sex Rituals (titled for a young American audience). In 1992, with Jason Gee, he formed the band Size. They played live, drank beer, and smoked copious cigarettes throughout the 90s and eventually released the album Actual Size in 1997. Bradbury followed this with two solo CDs -- Ruffini Corpuscle(2003) and Instant Oblivion (2005) -- released on Dual Plover, a notorious label that specialized in "smashing windows of opportunity." Throughout this time he also worked extensively in theater, providing soundtracks for works ranging from experimental movement theatre -- most notably Burn Sonata, featured at the 1998 Adelaide Festival -- to the Sydney Theatre Companys productions of Shakespeare. His soundtrack for Macbeth (2002) is particularly infamous for its relentless, nightmarish brutality, consisting as it did, for the most part, of samples of pinball machines. Panspermia, also available as part of the expansive 80sMinimal.Synth.Wave: Volume III box set (VOD 138LP), is an assemblage of remastered and re-edited works by Bradbury, recorded sporadically from 1986 to 2005. Its released in advance of Bradburys 2015 album Yakovlevian Torque.” - Vinyl-On-Demand.

Artist: CRASH COURSE IN SCIENCE
Title: Crash Course In Science
Format: 3 LP/ 7" Box Set
Label: Vinyl-On-Demand
Country: Germany
Price: $108.00
"Legendary minimal-synth/wave-band from Philadelphia formed in 1979. Choosing toy instruments and live drums out of necessity, CCIS began by experimenting with a series of recording devices. The toy instruments gave way to crude drum machines and Frankenstein-type homemade instruments. Their first 7" (also included with bonus tracks in this set) introduced listeners to a noisy, unpredictable world. This 7" went on to become a classic minimal-synth record that should be included in any vinyl-collection. In 1981 they took a new direction with a darker, more sinister sound. The result was the 12" Signals from Pier Thirteen (also included in this set are 8 unreleased demo tracks from this period). The songs Cardboard Lamb and Flying Turns gained exposure through club play during the 80s and still sound fresh and up-to-date. Two live performance recordings from 1980 and 1981 are also part of this box set, including CCIS opening for the Philip Glass ensemble in Philadelphia. The third LP Near Marineland contains completed mixes of previously unreleased studio material (along with some remixes of this material) arranged and produced by John Wicks, CCISs original producer. After listening to this box set you will be convinced and have no doubt about CCIS being the godfather of 90s techno music and their ultimate protagonist-role. They remain an inspiration pool for many elektro bands/artists today." - Vinyl on Demand.

Artist: CROWCROFT, RON
Title: Mundane Recordings 1980-1985
Format: LP
Label: Vinyl-On-Demand
Country: Germany
Price: $22.00
Limited edition of 444. Includes hand-numbered certificate. "Mundane Recordings 1980-1985 comprises a selection of music pieces created by Ron Crowcroft. Punk had opened possibilities for artists to explore sound structures as another means of creating, showing that original work could be produced using rudimentary technical equipment and expertise. Ron began experimenting with sound in 1979 and contributed several of these tracks to various Mail Art projects, including sending many pieces to Rod Summers of VEC Audio Editions, who released them on compilation tapes and a solo tape. Ron also contributed to galleries and alternative spaces that were open to new kinds of music. In late 1979, Ron co-founded New 7th Music, an experimental electronic and acoustic improvisation group, which met every two weeks for recording sessions at The Arun Leisure Centre in Bognor Regis, Sussex, England. New 7th Music began releasing cassettes as the national interest in home recording was gaining momentum, which received regular articles and reviews in the national music press. New 7th Music played some live shows, including a performance at The London Musicians Collective. Many musicians and friends joined the group over the years on various recording sessions and in live shows. Ron also collaborated with Andrew Blackwell, as the duo, The Modern Farmers, releasing an anonymous cassette in 1981, which combined experimental sound pieces and humorous tracks. A magazine was included with the cassette. A subsequent collaboration saw Ron sending basic vocal tracks to Robert Gillham, who then added music tracks to complete each piece, which were released as the duo, Random Valency. At the same time, Ron continued recording and releasing his own music on his Mundane Tapes label, first with Skullduggery in 1980, and his second release, I Am Normal (1981), entered the Sounds music paper "Obscurist Chart". He then released Greatest Hiss, a series of four compilation tapes comprised of various music tracks from his solo and collaborative work. Ron is a multi-media artist, who continues to create and release music. His other creative output includes drawing, painting, sculpture, photography, video, performance art, conceptual art, poetry and humor." - Vinyl-On-Demand.

Title: Welten - Worlds - Ohontsashon:a
Format: LP
Label: Vinyl-On-Demand
Country: Germany
Price: $22.00
"Early eighties sound-project and conceptual work from 1984 also known as Gerry Belz. Worlds of music ringed out on our planet. Simultaneously blown out, not attuned but still tuned incidentally, partly at on purpose. In 1984, Die Tödliche Doris was given the chance for such a coincidence of two different worlds. They were invited to compose the music for a fashion-show in the Deplane Kunsthalle Berlin. For the first time, this fully documented composition consists of 24 Audiotapes with sounds and music-recordings which were recorded and then played with different technically defect tape-recorders and which were accompanied of the band Gerry-Belz-Showband which has been selected from the employment-office in Berlin. The repertoire of the three olderly men did consist of the usually well-known evergreens of entertainment and light-music.        Die Tödliche Doris is sometimes referred to an industrial-band. In fact, the group has played and cooperated with SPK and Twin Vision. If there is any music of the band which can be referred to Industrial, then it is this project here, which was only released in certain pieces to this point." - Vinyl-On-Demand.

Title: The Wonderful World of Werkpiloten
Format: Double LP
Label: Vinyl-On-Demand
Country: Germany
Price: $34.00
"Limited edition of 500. Die Werkpiloten were Christian Aufderstroth aka Krischi (vocals) and Stefan Caesar aka Prinz Eisenhart (programming). The duo was active from 1981 until 1986, and released four cassettes including a compilation on their label Werkpilot Industrial Releases, as well as contributions to various tape compilations of the 80s cassette culture. This double LP compiles their first two tape releases published on their own tape label including 22 beautiful wave songs in the style of Factory acts like New Order, and even recalling the legendary Joy Division. The first LP features the contents of the Der Werkpilot compilation, released in 1983 and collecting recordings from 1981-83 by Die Werkpiloten, Prinz Eisenhart, Landungsbrücken, Der Vorkriegsrausch, and Rhabarberkompott. The second LP features the highly sought-after masterpiece The Wonderful World of Die Werkpiloten from 1984. Its music that, except for guitar and bass, mainly has electric origins; it flows, sways, and encourages one to dream. It should kidnap the listener out of everyday life and into another, wonderful world. Constantly changing between introverted soundtracks and elaborated electro tracks. A complex and multifarious industrial pop, inspired by a melancholic attitude with its origins in the Mancunian Factory label of Section 25 and Joy Division. This is not surprising, considering where the duo grew up. They came from the Ruhr region of Germany, characterized by coal industry, a working-class environment, and disillusionment." - Vinyl-On-Demand.

“In late 1982, Jessie Last and Malcom Smith, both from Cambridge, Massachusetts, launched their pioneering electro-experimental-techno project Dok-U-Ment. They self-released a very limited self-titled tape, and it caught the ear of Sleep Chambers John Zewizz, who joined the project while trying to convince Last and Smith to join Sleep Chamber. In 1983 they re-released the first tape in edited and extended form on John Zewizzs Inner-X-Musick label. One track was also licensed to Gut Level Musics 1983Gut Level One: A Compilation, and two tracks were included on the 1984 Inner X-Musick compilation The Oblique Collection.... Smith and John Zewizz became increasingly involved with Genesis P-Orridges Temple ov Psychick Youth, and supported Psychic TVon their first American tour; the Dok-U-Ment was terminated just three years after it had started. Title: Tapes 1977-1983
Format: 6LP BOX/DVD
Label: Vinyl-On-Demand
Country: Germany
Price: $175.00
"6LP leather box with DVD. "The box provides all of Etant Donnes avant-garde tapes released between 1977 and 1983 on the famous French BainTotal-Label Recordings including: La Vue, Lopposition, Letoile Au Front, Ceux Quon Aime - Ce Que Je Hais, Cinq Portes Soudees, Les Cents Jours Clairs. The release also contains a DVD with live performances of Etant Donnes over the last three decades. The music of this Etant Donnés first period (1977-1983) boxset describes a rite of passage from mortality to divinity, a powerful but hidden passion craving beauty and burning love that can be conquered only by another form of secret pain, that of losing yourself in the cosmos and becoming part of the muddy streams of distant stars. Their soundworks are constructed through the manipulation of natural sounds, using the variation of velocity and intensity of the recordings, the cutting and splicing of tape. Etant Donnes compositions are passionate and brutally communicative, their music and words are minimalist just like the writings and chants of the religious mystics Sufi, trying to recover the virginity of the words and sounds, they map new territories and establish their own personal rules. These first tracks contains all the brutal collages of found sounds investigating nuances of sounds that at times verges upon silence, the inspired and enraptured meeting with earths natural forces, an homage to the shadow of night, to the vineyard and the golden door. In these first six LPs Etant Donnés create their own brand of total audio expression using belches and punches, their attention is concentrated on the symphonic cacophonie organisation of disorganized found sounds, using magical rhythms only directed by cosmic rules. A perfect way of organizing natural sounds that obeys fundamental principles that everyone wishes to convey, a music able to tear down walls and build a universal comprehension, a cosmic law of beauty, a magical and alchemical act of poetry." - Vinyl-On-Demand

Title: Prototype -- Plus Garage Tracks
Format: Double LP
Label: Vinyl-On-Demand
Country: Germany
Price: $41.00
"A 12" vinyl, double record set containing the music of Experimental Products. If you are a long time collector of 80s indie minimal synth looking to fill out your catalog or a novice interested in starting one up, there is no better place to start than with Experimental Products. A synth duo from Philadelphia/northern Delaware USA, members Mark Wilde and Michael Gross produced 8-track gear recordings, then had their music pressed to vinyl. In 1984 they released the 3 song 12" EP Glowing in the Dark, 2000 copies. Glowing proved irresistible to DJs and became a 1985 dance club chart breakthrough. Today, many DJs and collectors consider it a classic synth record. 2 years before Glowing they released a 10 song vinyl LP titled Prototype, 300 copies. Prototype remained an obscure record until minimal synth collectors caught wind of it in the late 90s. Prototype became a high priced bidding item whenever the rare vinyl showed up on e-Bay. It seems Experimental Products had again produced what many collectors consider a classic 80s minimal synth record. VOD is now pleased to announce the reissue of Prototype to high quality vinyl. Re-mastered by VOD from the original 1/4" master tapes, this reissue has improved sonic quality not found on the original 1982 pressings. Own it now, experience it for yourself. Prototype will be LP-1 side A+B of the VOD double record set. Garage Tracks, LP-2 of the Experimental Products record set will hopefully become yet another classic piece of synthesizer vinyl. A garage track is described by M. Gross as a primitive to semi-pro sound recording not necessarily intended for public distribution. Originally intended or not, VOD now offer them to the synth loving public. Garage Tracks side-A contains 5 unreleased songs from 1985, all synth-drum machine, again produced with 8-track gear this time in a band spare bedroom. Anyone familiar with the band can expect more Experimental Products brilliance. Garage Tracks side-B contains six songs from a 1983 live performance. There are live versions of 4 songs from Prototype, an unreleased song, and the song Mannequin from the Glowing EP." - VOD. SOLD OUT

Title: Microcosmos 82-86
Format: Double LP
Label: Vinyl-On-Demand
Country: Germany
Price: $41.00
"Suberb synth- and wave-tunes of Fockewulf 190 including the two Italo-disco-classic 12"s Body Heat and Gitano plus more demos and so far unreleased treasures like Orient Express collected from the archive of Victor. Victor once stated: The Fockewulf 190 project was created as a shape equal to a substance, experimental analogy electronic music connected to the theatrical and mimic power of rock and the romantic and esthetic force of the electronic dance of the 80s. We translated those expressive channels with the force of a psychedelic mind folded into a magic and evocative world, an profound research into ourselves. This personal and futuristic mysticism originated the dark side of Italo disco. The publishing, 25 years later, of what should have been our first album in 1986, Microcosmos, shines a light on the sonic creativity of the Fw 190, also because its a record composed only by simple original demos; something pure and synthetic, uncontaminated by commercial compromises." - Vinyl-On-Demand. Title: Per Ignem Ad Lucem
Format: Double LP/DVD/7"
Label: Vinyl-On-Demand
Country: Germany
Price: $48.00
"Gerechtigkeits Liga is the band/project which evolves around Till Brüggemann. In the early 80s, GL traveled to London to meet up with Domnik Guerin of Twin Vision/SPK. Dominik introduced them to Graeme Revell and Brian Williams of Lustmord, who were running Side Effects Records and both of them decided to release an album by GL. Two more GL tracks were also released on the seminal compilation Vhutemas Archetypi, which also featured groups like Laibach, Lustmord & SPK. The band is known for their mystical, almost martial and epic sounds, which can easily upset the listeners emotions. Nothing for weak nerves. VOD and TB compiled a perfect supplement to the LP Hypnotischer Existenzialismus. The double LP set covers the very early musical period of the band, including outtakes, tape-contributions, a live performance from L.A., as well as a Berlin atonal performance. Attached, you will also find a DVD with disturbing footage of early video clips, a short film, as well as some other rare live video clips from New York City. The release is housed in a silk-screened army boot bag." -Vinyl-On-Demand

2011 release. Limited edition of 600. "3LP-Box includes Vital K7, Amaterasu 7", Message 12", folk music LP, and various contributions. GRIM is an absolutely amazing, almost schizophrenic and obscure power-electronics and noise-one-man project of Jun Konagaya. Juns sound changes its mood and atmosphere in seconds. From extreme harsh and hard power electronic noise-walls to ingenious folk-songs and tunes as you know it from Charles Manson. In the very early 80s Jun formed White Hospital together with Tomosada Kuwabara. They released one album called Holocaust in 1984 and split. At that time Jun had already released the Vital tape with his project GRIM. Kuwuhara moved on to form Vasilisk while Jun continued as GRIM releasing one LP, 12" and 7" as well as contributing to several compilations during the 80s." - Vinyl-On-Demand.

Title: Tape Recordings 1975-1985
Format: LP
Label: Vinyl-On-Demand
Country: Germany
Price: $22.00
Limited edition of 444. Includes hand-numbered certificate. "Tape Recordings 1975-1985 features work from Kevin Harrison. Kevin Harrisons music is guitar orientated. But treated and mutated. Harrison is no ordinary guitar hero: his playing shimmers like light reflected on water. His work is reminiscent of a cross between Brian Eno, Michael Rother and Eric Random. While in the ambient field, it balances a lot more in the direction of contemporary electronics and a heavier sound. Nevertheless, his influences are very clear. A minimal psychedelicist at heart, Harrisons is the music of the hypnotic state, of dream and trance. Its core is an obvious affection for the work of Terry Riley, Philip Glass, Kraftwerk and The Normal tempered with an awareness of oriental rhythms and harmonies which give the elemental electronics a warmer, human touch. With Harrisons deft handling his squeaks and buzzes, his synthesized loop tables and his drum machines "Inscrutably Obvious" seems like it will prove horribly inaccessible. But once properly investigated it offers a sparklingly seductive selection of tracks wholeheartedly recommended to anybody looking for entertainment from the avant-garde. Chas de Whalley on Harrison: "No guitar heroes next cause its Kevin Harrison. I could listen to his excellent stuff all night. What he does is guitar improvisations with the guitar put through lots of reel-to-reel echo units and other such things. This means he only has to fall over his guitar and it sounds good good good good. The result is similar to Fripp/Eno collaborations with layers of rejected guitar sounds. It sounds much better than I can be bothered to write it, if youre curious go and see him do his act." - Vinyl-On-Demand.

A vinyl box with early-80s audio formerly released only on super-rare and highly collectable tapes and 7"s by two of the most radical minimal synth artists from South Germany, Rolf Schobert and Georg Alfred Wittner, with their projects Heute and Der Musikant (solo project of Schobert with name variations as Der Künftige Musikant, Der Lustige Musikant, Der Ewinge Musikant). Almost four hours of greatest minimal synth-based tunes (two LPs each by Heute and Der Musikant plus a bonus Heute 7") compiled by VOD from more than ten different early-80s tape releases, all released and distributed on their own Bu/Bu Musikverbreitung label in the early-to-mid-80s. Title: Shadows Out Of Time 82-83
Format: 3 LP & 7" Box
Label: Vinyl-On-Demand
Country: Germany
Price: $77.00
2010 release, edition of 600. "Shadows out of Time is a collection of three LPs with unreleased and formerly cassette-only material from Hunting Lodge, representing the first blush of their creativity, a time when each sonic experiment festered into a beautiful sore. Dark ambient, noise, power electronics, all represented here before these pigeons had holes in which to fit. One LP is comprised of the now-legendary Exhumed, which was formerly released cassette-only, heard here in better shape than ever - direct-metal mastered from the original two-track mixes. The second LP is all unreleased material, highlights of which include never-heard gems from the recordings for the promotional cassette 23 Minutes Of Murder. On the flip-side, both literally and figuratively, are the electro-disco-teckno recordings used for intermission music at Hunting Lodge live shows in 1983. The final LP contains live material which was formerly cassette-only, including tracks from At The Harrington Ballroom and S/M Operations Live, as well as much of the formerly unreleased Live At The Lodge. Oft-bootlegged, this performance is pressed here direct from the original masters, representing the two-piece early noise-unit of Hunting Lodge in harrowing live intensity. Furthermore featured in the box-set is an additional bonus 7" including studio cover version of John Wrights Stellazine Shuffle b/w Learn to Will II, formerly released on Nekrophile Rekords Beast 666 cassette compilation in 1983. These LPs and 7" are presented with period-accurate, gloriously bold, black and white artwork. Each LP comes in its own printed sleeve inside of a box printed with the Thomas Nordstrom artwork previously only seen on early Hunting Lodge stationery. Also included are liner notes by Jeff Central Chenault and recording details, including information on equipment used, and never before seen photos of live Hunting Lodge and of collectors minutiae. The scars will never completely heal." -Vinyl-On-Demand

Title: First Contact/Half Life
Format: LP
Label: Vinyl-On-Demand
Country: Germany
Price: $22.00
“Its late 1981 and Attritions embryonic Black Prince Studio has set up in band member Ashley Niblocks bedroom in Coventry, England. Analog synthesizers, drum machines, and a primitive four-track recorder with tape echoes and spring reverbs. They would write and rehearse regularly during those early days. Niblock would also moonlight with two of his school friends, Edward Pearson and Richard Woodfield as Irsol. A different beast from the anarchic post-punk noise and rhythms of the early Attrition, Irsol was a more polished affair, and far more influenced by the electronics of, for example, Tangerine Dream. By summer 1982 they had produced their first self-released tape, First Contact, which attracted some attention from local figures, including Alan Rider, who released their second tape, Half Life, on his Adventure in Reality label in 1983, and reissuedFirst Contact in 1984. Half Life contained a side of studio recording and a side of a one-off live show at the old school -- founded in 1344 -- that they all attended. The track "Reesoning" from First Contact appeared on Volume Five of Gary Levermores legendary Third Mind five-tape compilation Rising from the Red Sand (1983). This LP includes the entirety of First Contact and the studio side of Half Life.” - Vinyl-On-Demand.

Format: 8 LP Box
Label: Vinyl-On-Demand
Country: Germany
Price: $178.00
“2012 release. Limited numbered edition of 500. TheEnsemble Kluster was founded by Conrad Schnitzler in 1969. One of the most radical and influential German progressive avant-garde bands, its approach and techniques were related toStockhausen and the Gruppo di Improvvisazione Nuova Consonanza, and its influences and characteristics can still be found in works of many avant-garde and industrial-bands of today. Schnitzlers continuous working partners over the years have been Klaus Freudigmann and Wolfgang Seidel. Kluster also worked with various friends including Tangerine Dream, and , with whom Schnitzler recorded and released three of the Kluster actions on vinyl in 1971 -- Eruption, Klopfzeichen, andZwei-Osterei -- before Roedelius and Moebius went on to form Cluster. Kluster performed with regular instruments (piano, electric guitar, cello, percussion, electric organ), which were recorded with a contact microphone, transformed, manipulated, distorted, chopped-up, and conveyed by loudspeakers. The result is an exciting, raw, and roughly structured sound continuum, rich in associations skirting the edges of sound magic. The "Aktions" in this box set are all previously unreleased.” - Vinyl-on-Demand.

"unreleased (Der) Plan or Pyrolator-like material from early eighties." - Vinyl On Demand. "Hermann loves Amanda Lear and Paul Vrilio. Hermann started to make music because the radio never played what he wanted to hear. He was taught to play Violin for 5 years but never learned to play with the left hand so that the tone would vibrate. With his first synthesizer Hermann has played songs like John Caless "Heartbreak Hotel" and "I wanna be a good boy" by Ramones. Hermann made "Industrial-pop" with the german group "Keine Ahnung". Hermann is somehow in charge of the "violent-movie-movement" with his soundtracks for Jörg Buttgereit-movies. Hermann has played a lonely man in the movie "Todesking" which will commit suicide in a bath-tub. Hermanns first 12" is called "Aquaplaning in Venedig" which is long deleted and highly collectable to minimal-wave collectors. SO is his second M-Lp. Hermann lives in Katalonien, but this can change very quick. Hermann has his own style of music and usage of voice, hard to compare to anything else. Very minimal, intellectual and dark on the one hand, obscure, excentric, intellectual and somehow funny lyrics on the other hand. Hermann Kopp, nothing else but Hermann Kopp." - Vinyl On Demand.Numbered editon of 500 in full color jackets.

Title: Tape-Works 1981-1982
Format: 4 LP & DVD Box
Label: Vinyl-On-Demand
Country: Germany
Price: $93.00
"2013 release. The members of seminal Melbourne-based improvising experimental group Laughing Hands and its alter ego The Invisible College were Paul Schütze, Gordon Harvey, Ian Russell, and Paul Widdicombe. Their spectrally shaded instrumental post-punk-by-way-of-post-industrial constructs were effectively post-rock before the genre existed. The group continued in several permutations until disbanding in 1982. They released two LPs (Ledge (1980) and Dog Photos (1981)) and one cassette (E E: (The Welders Bible) (1981)) on their own Adhesive label, as well as two cassettes on the Australian tape label Rash (Decisions) (Nights (1982) and The Luxery of Horns (1982, credited to The Invisible College)). This set includes the contents of all three cassettes, as well as a DVD. While the esoteric Eno-by-way-of-Dome post-punk instrumental constructs doled out across their two LPs are some of the most mesmerizing examples of this sort, their work on the tape-only releases finds them exploring a decidedly more shrouded, nocturnal, and formally abstract dimension of their universe. The two tapes issued under their heading as well as the material they issued under the pseudonym The Invisible College tease out certain territories only hinted at on the vinyl releases. Nights comprises two side-long pieces. Side As mesmerizing title-track is filled with spectral synth shadings, distant metallic clatter, and pained wails, while the B-sides "Infinite Summer" unfurls a protracted stream of stutter pulse across a vast terrain of preternatural and phantasmagoric incident. The material on E E, divided into subsections titled Vibrate, Scatter, Picture, and Splinter, spans the gap between Nights atmospheric abstractions and The Invisible Colleges more forcefully driving and art rock-ish confections, each section highlighting a facet of their cumulative praxis. Vibrate foregrounds the rhythmically forceful dimension of their aesthetic as heard on the Invisible College material, Scatter proposes a more fractured and hermetic attack that carries a whiff of Cans ethnological forgeries, Splinter explores the more nocturnal and mechanistic side of their nature, and Picture sets its sights on the cosmos with pore-penetrating widescreen tracts of alternately shearing and suspended krautrock-ish acid sound-scaping that is perhaps the epiphanic peak of their whole discography." - Vinyl-on-Demand.

Format: LP + 7"
Label: Vinyl-On-Demand

Price: $30.00
Limited edition of 444. Includes hand-numbered certificate. "A vinyl reissue of The Legendary Pink Dotss Premonition, originally released on cassette in 1982. In the early 80s the whole concept of committing music to vinyl seemed like a noble but improbable dream. It was expensive and unless a label was offering, it was consigned to the experimental bands "bucket list". Cassette albums were another matter however. The Dots had chaotically joined the tape revolution with a couple of releases on their own Mirrordot label and after accidentally wiping one of the masters, decided it was something better left to "real" labels. Hence the band was delighted when Ian Dobson from Flowmotion approached them. Consequently Premonition was assembled; a combination of older and newer songs were placed in an extremely psychedelic collage with a rack of effects tuned and abused with the help of Pat Bermingham, who owned the In Phaze label and a small studio which used to belong to Pink Floyds Nick Mason. Sadly, Flowmotion ran into trouble after the release and it took a few years before the Dots actually saw a copy the original album." - Vinyl-On-Demand.

Price: $36.00
“Limited edition of 500. K. Leimer has been an active musician since the 1970s and has released avant-garde and experimental music under his own name on his Palace of Lights label, which he started in 1980 to release his own work and that of other artists and projects such as Marc Barreca, Michael William Gilbert, Anode, and the group Savant, of which he is the founding and leading member. His first two tape recordings, included on this double LP, were released on Robert Carlbergs Anode Productions in 1978 and 79 (Translucent/Memory and Natural History/The Mind and Its Likeness). Both tapes were also distributed via Archie Pattersons Eurock. This set also includes material from the 1983 cassette Installation View.” - Vinyl-on-Demand. “Its best to consider these recordings as a homage to much admired and deeply loved music of the time; to consider these recordings as the artifacts of lessons being learned during simultaneous attempts at conceiving, writing, voicing, engineering, recording, and mixing something that might at least seem to be music. Its also best to consider that the one card that repeatedly found its way out of the Oblique Strategies deck and into my hands prevented me from erasing almost all of it: Honor thy mistake as a hidden intention." - K. Leimer.

Price: $43.00
"Much of the music included in this set is exclusive to this vinyl version of Miscellany. Andrew Liles has compiled a comprehensive anthology including as much varied, interesting and unreleased material as possible. He spent many an afternoon sifting through piles of cassettes seeking the oldest and arguably most definitive pieces of music from literally hundreds of hours of tape. The earliest recordings on these discs date back to 1984. Find a New Husband was made on Liles fathers very cheap Amstrad tape-to-tape system. The tape machine ceased to work properly shortly thereafter. This track was the result or many hours of rewinding and re-playing and re-recording, and thus began Liles fascination, obsession and addiction with tape-manipulation, sound FX and recording techniques. Listening back to some of these works reminds us of the archaic and laborious fashion in which music used to be created and assembled. In hindsight the merits of working with tape compared to digital technologies seem to be the random nature of what would happen. Tape bleed, mishaps, the low-fi quality and errors seemed to give unique and often unpredictable results. Many of Andrew Liles early experimentations and accidental consequences are included in this collection. Also included are selections from his two self-released cassettes under the name Lividity. The Lividity tapes were given away to friends and sent as demos to assorted labels. Some 20 years later it is very doubtful that any of them exist other than the two remaining copies Andrew Liles has kept tucked away in some forgotten corner." -Vinyl On Demand

Title: The Syntape Years 1981-1983
Format: 5 LP Box
Label: Vinyl-On-Demand
Country: Germany
Price: $108.00
"Rüdiger Lorenz was a German electronic synthesist and inventor of several modular synthesizer systems, who, over three decades, produced unique, exceptional electronic soundscapes in the manner of Conrad Schnitzler, Edgar Froese, Dieter Moebius, and Hans-Joachim Roedelius. He is one of a very few outstanding artists who seem to never have received the recognition and fame they deserved for their artistic output. This five-LP box set focuses on his earliest self-released cassettes from the early 80s: Queen of Saba (1981), Silver Steps (1981), Wonderflower (1982), and Earthrise (1983), none of which have been reissued before now. Queen of Saba was also licensed and released on Werner Piepers Transmitter Cassetten, which also distributed many of Conrad Schnitzlers tape releases. Earthrise, a compilation of his early works and several newer compositions, was released on the British label YHR Tapes (York House Recordings), run by David Elliott. Rüdiger Lorenz became interested in electronic music and Moog synthesizers in the late 60s. By 1972 he had built his own first Wersi Organ, followed by various amplifiers and effects boxes. In 1977 he had constructed his first synthesizers from an Elektor Formant kit. At the time of his death in 2000, he owned 38 synthesizers including three large self-built modular systems. In the late 70s and early 80s he became a member of the IEMA (International Electronic Music Association), which was established by James Finch of The Nightcrawlers, and also began running his own Lorenz Park Studio. He then became an essential part and pioneering member of the international DIY cassette culture community in the early 80s and contributed to several INKEY$ compilation tapes and the On-Slaught series on the Idiosyncratics label. With their well-established international contacts, he and another German synthesist, Peter Schäfer, started the tape label Syntape and released more than 30 cassettes between 1981 and 1985. In 1983, he began releasing musical on vinyl via his Syncord label; many of these limited records have since become in-demand collectors items." - Vinyl-On-Demand.

Title: Recordings 1980-1987
Format: 4 LP Box
Label: Vinyl-On-Demand
Country: Germany
Price: $93.00
“Limited edition of 300. Multi-talented autodidact musician and devoted painter Leon Lowman became interested in synthesizers when he heard ELPs "Lucky Man" in 1970. At that time Lowman was working for various recording studios and sound companies in California and with his first paycheck he made a down-payment on an ARP 2600-Synthesizer (as well as a Mediamix Joystick for pitch bending), which he still uses at the time of this release. From that point on he used whatever money he could spare to acquire music gear with which to develop and reflect his unique melodic wanderings and his beautiful, mellow, cosmic, classic club-lounge, almost easy listening and lo-fi surf synth music. Lowman wrote much of his music based on life experiences, trying to musically convey particular events, experiences, or feelings through both the music and the added natural sounds he had incorporated, such as waves, wind, or bird calls. Between 1980 and 1987 he released several tapes and a highly sought-after LP called Syntheseas. Many of his works are highly influential and ahead of their time. One can hear his ideas and sounds in later commercially successful recordings such as AIRs Moon Safari (1997). This is a must-have for fans of cosmic chilling club-lounge styles in vein of Sun Palace and Alex Cima. Recordings 1980-1987 is a comprehensive four-LP box set including tracks from Syntheseas (1980), Sound Horizon (1982), Waves of Perfect Timbre (1982), Water Dreams (1985), and Passage to China Bay (1987), plus bonus material.” - Vinyl-On-Demand.

Format: LP
Label: Vinyl-On-Demand

Price: $22.00
Limited edition of 444. Includes hand-numbered certificate. "Mirage-Tape-Years features music from Carl Matthewss early cassette releases. Music has always been important to Carl Matthews. Especially the German music he got into right from the start, buying albums from Virgin Records in London of bands like Cosmic Couriers, Klaus Schulze, Guru Guru and Amon Duul II. Given that his friends found his music taste a bit disturbing, Carl decided to do his own stuff to give him the freedom to do music he really loved i.e., electronic music. He bought a reel-to-reel, a Korg Polyphonic Ensemble, a Korg MS20 synthesizer and a Korg SQ10 Sequencer. All very limited compared to todays technology but good and interesting sounds could still be produced. Carl produced his first tapes and they found release on labels and distribution outlets. Some of the tracks on this album are from the very first releases Intervention 87 (1981) and Freewheel To Freedom (1981), which were more experimental and minimal incorporating guitar sounds. Other tracks off the albums Aksu (1980), East/West (1981) and Iridescence (1983)." - Vinyl On Demand.

Title: Lowest Music & Arts 1980-1983
Format: 10 LP Box
Label: Vinyl-On-Demand
Country: Germany
Price: $237.00
2012 release. "Limited edition of 500. Includes large booklet with images. This ten-LP set in a black varnished and silkscreened wooden box is a comprehensive anthology of Merzbows early works, carefully selected and mastered by Merzbow himself. Merzbow has been actively recording noise music since late 1979, releasing over 100 solo recordings and numerous collaborations since. This set focuses on Merzbows very early works from 1980-1983 on his first tape label, Lowest Music & Arts -- the predecessor to his famous ZSF Produkt label. Some of the selected material was reissued in fragments and extracts as part of the famous 50-CD Merzbox, but none of it has previously been released on vinyl. LP 1 contains Hyper Music 2, a previously unreleased recording from 1980 in the style of Metal Acoustic Music. LP 2 contains Metal Acoustic Music, originally released as C-90 cassette in very limited edition in 1981. While the A-side of this recording was featured and released on Merzbox, this LP features the B-side of the original tape, previously unreleased in any form outside of the original tape edition. LPs 3 and 4 feature the highly sought-after tape Merz Collection 007, recorded in 1980 and released in 1981, as well as the tape Tridal Production from 1981. Some parts of these recordings appear in the Merzbox, but this is also the first time that these recordings have been reissued in their entirety. LPs 5 and 6 cover Mechanization takes Command, originally released as a C-90 cassette in early 82. Again, some parts appeared in the Merzbox, but this is the first reissue of the complete set. LPs 7 and 8 are committed to the two highly sought-after tapes Solonoise 1 and Solonoise 2. While Solonoise 1 can also be found in the Merzbox, Solonoise 2 is reissued here in its complete original form for the first time. The word "solo" means "solar" and is a reference to Georges Batailles Solar Anus. LPs 9 and 10 contain Yahatahachiman and Escape Mask, two recordings from 1983 of which Merzbow is extremely proud. Both recordings represent an almost hidden side of Merzbow and show his flexibility in the variation of noise. They are a true hidden treasure of Merzbow music. Merzbow had dismissed them for years due to their guitar rock appeal and rhythmic drive, but it is exactly this style and its sound-wall of psychedelic atonal guitar-noise in combination with the technoid drum machine that catches the listeners ear decades later." - Vinyl-On-Demand.

Artist: MONTGOMERY, GEN KEN
Title: Postcards 1981-1986
Format: Double LP
Label: Vinyl-On-Demand
Country: Germany
Price: $34.00
"2012 release. Limited edition of 500. Gen Ken Montgomery, a New York-based visual artist and sound composer, is absolutely genuine; he has no training in traditional music or art. He was never a follower of any direction or school. Instead he founded his own school of off-beat DIY-electronics, driven by irresistible curiosity and ingenuous enthusiasm for sound experimentation and process-oriented performance. His music is dense and full of polyrhythms and counter harmonies with singular control over layers of randomly pulsing, bleeping synthesizers and drum boxes. As a composer in the early 80s Montgomery created multi-channel sound works often performed in total darkness. He began his sound explorations with electronic toys, cheap synthesizers, and household gadgetry, for which he had a special fascination. His ever-present objects of affection are electric machines including an ice crusher ("Icebreaker"), aquarium pump, refrigerator, shoe shine machine, hand massager, and laminator ("Laminator Model 2291"). Postcards contains 41 (!) tracks. Twenty-two tracks on the first LP, compiled from his first tape, Gen Ken & Equipment (1981); his second tape, Collaborations (1982); his third official tape, Kalckreuth Keks (1986), recorded at Conrad Schnitzlers studio; and several live recordings under the name KMZ with Michael Zodorozny of Crash Course in Science. The second LP includes 19 songs from the fourth official tape, Beatmusik (1981-84) released by Sound of Pig, New York; songs from his fifth release, Room to Roam (1984); and three previously unreleased tracks from the same time period, one also as KMZ. Montgomerys activity in international cassette culture networks led to relationships and collaborations with such luminaries of the underground music scene as Conrad Schnitzler, Giancarlo Toniutti, Chop Shop, David Lee Myers (Arcane Device), Al Margolis, John Hudak, Francisco López, AMK, Istvan Kantor (Monty Cantsin), GX Jupitter-Larsen (The Haters), Rod Summers (VEC), Maurizio Bianchi, Masami Akita (Merzbow), CM von Hausswolff, and Leif Elggren, among others. "Cassettes were an inexpensive and practical way of getting feedback from the developing international community of sound/noise/music experimenters. Cassettes allowed for spontaneous freedom and experimentation without the burden and commitment of releasing vinyl which was expensive to mail and costly to press in editions of less than 500" --Montgomery. Montgomery used the earliest Casio keyboards, self-made electronic gadgets, cheap drum boxes, and his favorite instrument, the Korg MS-20 synthesizer. The mixture of noise, pop, rock, electronic, and soundscapes on one cassette show how musical genres hadnt yet become entrenched in the cassette culture scene." - Vinyl-on-Demand.

Label: Vinyl-On-Demand

Price: $108.00
“Limited edition of 300. Ken Moore (from Baltimore, Maryland) is one of the very early American DIY synthesists and multi-instrumental talents. Moore started to explore electronic music in the mid 70s while working in various (progressive) rock formations. In 1980 he established his own label, Anvil Creations, and in the following four years released approximately 20 tapes of solo and collaborative works he had recorded between 1973 and 1983. His solo work of that era bridges abstract electronic music with synthesizers and Mellotron and more psychedelic rock-based material he had primarily produced in the early to mid 70s. He also collaborated with Stuart Rosenzweig and founded the progressive rock duo Moore/Myers with David Wayne Myers. Moore was also very active in James Finchs International Electronic Music Association (IEMA), which started in 1979. Besides newsletters with contact-lists for subscribing musicians or reviews of cassettes, IEMA also organized festivals for musicians and released a series of seven IEMA collective/group compilation tapes containing musicians of the IEMA. Ken Moore was the man behind those tape compilations and their distribution. This box set contains five LPs and one 7" with tracks from Tempus Fugit (1980), To Come Into Being (1981), Loubi Stem (1981), To No Avail (1980), and The Jupiter Effect (1984) (all recorded 1976-84), Frame of Reference (written 1972, rec. 1977-79, rel. 1980), In a Pound of Logic (1983), Sense of Recreation (rec. 1972-75, rel. 1981), Elixir (rec. 1974-78, rel. 1981) by Moore & Larry Jeter, and Our Own Universe and Eccentric Projections, Volume 1 (both rec. 1976-81, rel. 1981) by Moore & Rosenzweig.” - Vinyl-On-Demand.

Elixir features Moore on Hammond organ, Moog synthesizer, Lowrey organ, ARP String Ensemble and Fender Rhodes electric piano and Jeter on Premiere drums, custom chimes, cymbals, and percussion, with the support of Mark Chance on electric bass guitar. Its primarily a groove-session percussion album with keyboards. Putting three musicians together from different backgrounds was an experiment all its own. Mark Chance was a rock bass guitarist who was integrating his own style of playing with what was a cohesion of jazz and electronic music. Sort of a free-form improvisational jam session with the drummer honed in to every lick the keyboard player emitted. This is really a collaboration between Jeter and Moore, who came from two different backgrounds, yet were willing to try something different. Ken Moore was the man behind those tape compilations and their distribution. This A-side of this LP covers the first sessions between Rosenzweig and Moore, with guest bassist Mark Chance, recorded in 1976 at Anvil Creations Studio. Using analog monophonic synthesizers, Rosenzweig (MicroMoog synth, electric piano, and Mellotron) and Moore (MiniMoog synth, ARP String Ensemble, and Lowrey organ) created what would become Our Own Universe. This was cutting-edge stuff in the late 1970s, and the material here proudly stands the test of time. The B-side covers the pairs second meeting, without a bassist, from about five years later. They spent an entire month recording a series of avant-garde sessions of totally improvised music that they called Eccentric Projections. Some are synthesizer works, while some were created with guitar, violin, drums, bells, cymbals, and harp -- but its all experimental in nature. Rosenzweig used MicroMoog synthesizer, ARP Omni II, electric guitar, piano, violin, and various percussion of all sorts; Moore used MiniMoog synthesizer, ARP Odyssey, ARP String Ensemble, piano, balafon, floor drums, open piano harp, and percussion of all sorts. Title: Abu Nidal

Label: Vinyl-On-Demand

Price: $26.00
"Limited edition of 200. Standalone edition of Vinyl-on-Demands expanded reissue of Abu Nidal by Muslimgauze, included in its 2014 Chasing the Shadow of Bryn Jones 1983-1988 box set and originally released on Limited Editions in 1987. The set focuses on the early output of the Manchester, England-based Bryn Jones, who produced nearly 200 albums between 1982 and 1998, before he passed away in 1999 at age 37. An anti-colonialist at heart, Jones dedicated most of his music to Muslim-world struggles during his lifetime, such as Soviet-occupied Afghanistan, the Iran/Iraq war, and the Lebanon civil war, to name a few, with an emphasis on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Jones was pro-Palestine, often evidenced on album and track titles as well as dedications. Muslimgauze music can be considered a sonic treatise on Muslim-world conflicts in the form of exotic soundscape narratives, driving musical protest and rhythmic assertion. As a side-effect of being prolific, Jones worked in a variety of styles and successfully melded traditional ethnic music of places he championed with Western urban stylings such as techno, breakbeat, and dub. Some credit him as being the "Godfather of Dubstep." Perhaps Joness musical brilliance shone brightest as an audio editor who deftly juxtaposed unlikely sounds in ways that now cannot be envisioned otherwise. In 1992 Jones wrote a manifesto about his music and influence; decades later, his vision is more relevant than ever. "The Principle Influence behind Muslimgauze is the political facts of the middle-east, though support of the PLO is the main Backbone. There are no musical influences, only political facts and figureheads e.g. Arafat, Gaddafi, Bhutto, Khaled etc. Such things are the starting point from which Muslimgauze music is taken. We have just (Gulf War) had a small skirmish in the middle-east, this area of the world is the most important quiet soon. Every countries going to have to choose which side it is on, to help free the people of Palestine. . . . There is a lot more to Muslimgauze than just a few pieces of music on a record or CD. There are no Bands around who I go out of my way to hear/see, the main-music I listen to is authentic and unable to be pigeonholed, people seem to buy what there told to, also they hear what other people have decided is good. Go Out and Discover." -Bryn Jones, February 29, 1992, Manchester.

Standalone edition of Vinyl-on-Demands expanded reissue of Blinded Horses by Muslimgauze, included in its 2014 Chasing the Shadow of Bryn Jones 1983-1988 box set and originally released as an LP on Limited Editions in 1985. Go Out and Discover." - Bryn Jones, February 29, 1992, Manchester.

Format: Double LP Box Set
Label: Vinyl-On-Demand
Country: Germany
Price: $80.00
"250 numbered box-set reissue of Changez les Blockeurs including the unreleased 83 Live LP. Changez Les Blockeurs was originally issued in 1982, in a private edition of 100 copies, later issued on CD by the Urthona label and is one of the universal icons of post-Industrial "noise". Very hard to find for quite some time, now its sorta available again, if only briefly. The live LP is called First Live Performance and features a show from Morden Tower, Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, recorded 6/8/83; issued here for the first time. Packed together in a heavy duty box. "Luigi Russolo is widely credited as being the first major noise theorist with his 1913 Art Of Noise manifesto. And, of course, composers like Arnold Schoenberg, John Cage and Karlheinz Stockhausen played their part in breaking with classically established harmonic systems. Lou Reeds epochal Metal Machine Music signposted a way of breaking free of the impasse created by the endgames of the mid-20th century avant garde... But contemporary noise artists like The New Blockaders and Einsturzende Neubauten were the first to progress from the use of noise as assault on tonality to the development of a rich, complex language capable of subtelties of shades and nuance without sacrificing any of its feral power or ability to unlock repressed personae in the listener..." - The Wire.

Title: Lest We Forget: Work In Progress 1979-1988
Format: 4LP/7" Boxset
Label: Vinyl-On-Demand
Country: Germany
Price: $120.00
"Lest We Forget is a collection compiled from the earliest recordings by Nocturnal Emissions, a group founded by Nigel Ayers, his brother Daniel Ayers and Caroline K in 1980. It is comprised of material previously only available on cassettes as well as tracks recorded under their earlier name, The Pump. The Nocturnal Emissions were active in what has been known as cassette culture and explored the medium of underground cassette exchange in parallel with their better known vinyl releases and live performances. They used the available technology of the day in a spirit which seems to have anticipated modern social networking through the Internet. This series of documents offers a rare glimpse at audio sketchbooks; raw, unfinished works-in-progress and live performances by the group. It covers a wide range of musical style by a group who were committed to radical experimentation in both form and content. The box set also contains some previously unreleased tracks from the early 80s which sound surprisingly contemporary and fresh. The group has undergone several mutations since these early recordings and continued into 21st century as a solo project by Nigel Ayers. Caroline K left the group in 1984 and produced one solo album before adopting a more private life. She remained a good friend and lived in England, Sri Lanka, and finally in Italy. She married Danny Ayers in 2001. While the edit of this collection was being assembled, she took ill with leukemia and died during hospital treatment a few days later. Carolines distinctively moody electronics, vocals and bass guitar feature strongly on these albums. We offer this box set as a tribute to her life and work." Includes Dyskinesia, The Fight Goes On/Duty Experiment, Deathday/Outtakes, Whisky/Recordings By The Pump, plus booklet." - Vinyl-On-Demand

You will be confronted with strong shouts and there will be violent (sound) charges, which run into the state of ...No Solution. Title: Message From The Dead
Format: Double LP/DVD
Label: Vinyl-On-Demand
Country: Germany
Price: $47.00
"Superb compilation of French cold-wave/goth legend Norma Loy starting with their very first recorded track from 81 to unreleased demos/rehearsals/live to unreleased treasures. In 1981, Usher and Chelsea formed Norma Loy. The band launched its first EP, the first one of its cold-wave-kind in France. Norma Loy searched for their identity and multiplied there experiences on the side, leading to the creation in 1984 of their own label, CPM, which produced a second EP distributed by New Rose: Psychic Altercation whose psychoanalytic rock gave the setting for later productions. CPM developed its own philosophy and centralized the different activities of the group (musical and non musical ones: (photo)graphic ones, literature, video making, dance etc...) and controls the entire artistic production (recordings, LP covers, song books...). A particular emphasis was drawn on the concerts mixing music and slide projections. Over the past 25 years, many excellent records have been released such as Rewind/T.Vision (86), Sacrifice (88) and the last part of the trilogy called Rebearth." Format: Double LP
Label: Vinyl-On-Demand
Country: Germany
Price: $36.00
"This material from Portion Control clearly demonstrates their early experimentation at the advent of analog electronic machines. The eclectic material ranges from cassette port-a-studio material, recorded in Peckham and Kennington, South London, to high-end studio recordings. Portion Controls punk roots are on display, as the group demonstrates unrivalled creativity and bridges the gap between UK industrial, early ambient, and the formative stages of electronic dance music. The music features rising arpeggiators, proto bass lines (a true Portion Control signature), dark sound design, and recurring beats and rhythms -- many elements that became the bedrock of future darker electronic music. During this highly-charged period, Portion Control established themselves at the forefront of the formative underground UK electronics scene. This double LP contains a selection of tracks from the Raise the Pulse12" (1983), the Hit the Pulse 12" (1983), the ..Step Forward LP (1984), the Rough Justice 12" (1984), theGo-Talk 12" (1984), the Great Divide LP (1986), thePsycho-Bod Saves the World LP (1986), and thePurge 12" (1986), as well as a previously unreleased tape from 1982 called Kiss Kiss - Sex and live recordings from a 1984 performance in Amsterdam." - Vinyl-On-Demand.

Title: Insomnia Theatre
Format: 3LP Box + 7" + DVD
Label: Vinyl-On-Demand
Country: Germany
Price: $102.00
"It all started sometime at the dawn of the 80s by two Canadian brothers, Darrin and Stephen Huss while living with their parents in Edmonton, Alberta. The first and only synthesizer based act in our whole region, were joined by third member Dwayne Goettel and subsequently formed the band Psyche. A combination of horror and electronics that in the area of Western Canada was completely unheard of and would continue to be considered quite shocking until the music finally caught on. When the Huss family moved to Waterloo, Ontario, Darrin and Stephen took time out from their school work to lay down what would become this official debut album of Psyches music. With fearlessly experimental electro-titles such as Children Carry Knives, Psychic Vampire, Maggots, and The Brain Collapses. Under the disguised names Evan Panic (Darrin), and Anthony Red (Stephen) Psyche, with release on hand prepared themselves for a proper onslaught on the further unsuspecting Canadian audience, and the rest of the world. This 3 album edition of Insomnia Theatre also contains the 4-Track recordings while Dwayne was a member, as well as several rare direct to cassette demos, the tracks of Tales From The Darkside, as well as our now collectable 12" of Thundershowers. Plus the monumental Unveiling The Secret appears in its album version to round out the complete vision of Psyches early beginnings from 1983 up to this 1986 breakthrough club hit!" - Vinyl-On-Demand.

Format: 3 LP Box Set
Label: Vinyl-On-Demand
Country: Germany
Price: $82.00
"Rapoon is the ethno-ambient solo project of Zoviet France co-founder Robin Storey. The music of Rapoon reflects the fascination for the minimalistic but rhythmic music of West-Africa and India. Rapoon uses the musical construction techniques of loops and rhythmic repetition as a kind of platform for inducing a sort of trance like reception. The tracks chosen on this box-set are taken directly from the original 4 track cassettes. These recordings are sometimes copies of complete mixes that found their way onto released albums, sometimes sub-mixes and parts of mixes, and sometimes elements that were never used in any released material. Working with multiple 4track machines which remained non-synchronised, these are the re-discovered compositions which have remained hidden until now." -Vinyl-On-Demand

Title: Premonitions 1980-1985
Format: 4 LP Box
Label: Vinyl-On-Demand
Country: Germany
Price: $85.00
"2014 release. Limited edition of 500. Robert Richs solo and collaborative recordings have proven extremely influential on a range of new school ambient and experimental artists. Although almost a decade younger than his cohorts, Richs association with the West Coast scene of space-music pioneers such as Steve Roach, Kevin Braheny, and Michael Stearns also makes him one of the few of that generation to have interfaced creatively with the new wave of experimental electronic composers. A northern California native, Rich began building his own analog synthesizers in the late 70s before attending Stanford University, where he completed a degree in psychology. While at Stanford, Richs involvement in the universitys prestigious Center for Computer Research in Music and Acoustics expanded his interest in digital synthesis, and his Bay Area location brought him in contact with a wide range of non-traditional and non-Western musical ideas. Richs innovation of the all-night "sleep concerts" during this period derived from his interests in psychophysiology and sleep research, and helped solidify an aesthetic focus on psychoacoustics, perceptible in early recordings such as Sunyata (1982), Trances (1984), and Drones (1984). Richs mid-period works such as Rainforest (1989) and Propagation (1994) combined that interest with more recognizable electro-acoustic elements (Rich plays a wide range of instruments, from synths and effects racks to lap steel guitar, hand drums, and flute), but the influence of digital sound manipulation also moved increasingly to the fore. Inspired by the more textural works of artists like SPK and Throbbing Gristle, Richs interest in the edgier side of electronic composition has also earned him a reputation among fans of gothic, industrial, and dark ambient, made most obvious by his collaboration in 1995 with Brian Williams of Lustmord. In addition to his more ambient-leaning works, Rich released albums with the experimental pop band Amoeba, and in 2013 with Meridiem. He has been influential in spreading interest in harmonic tuning systems (just intonation), works closely with music software and hardware companies in product development, creates sound design for film and television, and teaches a university course on audio mastering. This four-LP box set focuses on Richs early stage of composition and performance, from 1979-85. Most of this music is previously unreleased, or came out on limited cassettes on the UK Auricle label or the Swedish Psychout Productions label, which later became Multimood, and released Richs Numena LP in 1986." - Vinyl-on-Demand.

Title: Recordings 1982
Format: LP
Label: Vinyl-On-Demand
Country: Germany
Price: $22.00
“Limited edition of 200. Composer and multi-instrumentalist Steve Roach (born in 1955 in California) is a longstanding leader in contemporary electronic music, drawing on the beauty and power of the earths landscapes to create lush, meditative soundscapes influential on the emergence of ambient and trance. At the age of 20, inspired by the music of Tangerine Dream, Klaus Schulze, and Vangelis, he taught himself to play synthesizer. After being a member of Doug Lynners Moebius in the late 70s and early 80s, he began recording as a solo artist in 1982, and self-released his classic album Now that year, with distribution by Eurock. One year later Roach released another classic recording on Domino Records called Traveler. As with Don Slepian, Roach then signed to Fortuna Records and released several LPs and tapes. With Structures from Silence (1984) his music began taking enormous strides; the albums expansive and mysterious atmosphere was inspired directly by the natural beauty of the southwestern U.S. With subsequent works, including 1986s three-volume Quiet Music series, Roach honed his approach, developing his dense, swirling textures and hypnotic rhythms akin to environmental sound sculptures. In 1988, inspired by Peter Weirs 1977 film The Last Wave, Roach journeyed to the Australian outback and gathered field recordings of aboriginal life for what would become his widely acknowledged masterpiece, the double album Dreamtime Return (1988). A year later, he teamed up with percussionist Michael Shrieve and guitarist David Torn for The Leaving Time, an experiment in ambient jazz. After relocating to the desert outskirts of Tucson, Arizona, Roach established his own recording studio, Timeroom, and in the years to follow grew increasingly prolific, creating both as a solo artist and in tandem with artists including Robert Rich, Michael Stearns, Jorge Reyes, and Kevin Braheny -- in all, close to two dozen major works in the 1990s alone, all of them located at different points on the space-time continuum separating modern technology and primitive music. Since 2000 his enormous creative output, live concerts, and sonic innovations remain at a high level. This LP includes all the tracks from the legendary debut tape Now, plus the previously unreleased "Emotion Revealed.”” - Vinyl-On-Demand.

"Limited edition of 400. SPK was an Australian industrial band formed in 1978 in Sydney by Graeme Revell and Neil Hill. By 1983 the duo had been joined by other artists including Sinan Leong, Brian Williams (Lustmord), John Murphy, Karel van Bergen, Mike Wilkins, and James Pinker. During its early period from 1978 to first half of 1983, SPK was without a doubt a groundbreaking protagonist for the whole industrial music movement to come, with such releases as Information Overload Unit and Leichenschrei. SPK can be considered as influential as other industrial legends including Throbbing Gristle, Clock DVA, and Cabaret Voltaire -- there is no way to avoid this band when talking about the industrial movement. This deluxe box set, containing seven LPs and one 7" in a deluxe book-like folder and outer holder, collects all of SPKs early works and documents the bands history prior to Graeme Revell signing with WEA and taking a slightly different, more commercial path with the bands musical output. Includes the following LPs: Information Overload Unit (1980), The 7" Tracks (1979-1981), Leichnschrei (1982), Backing-Tracks for Leichenschrei (1982), Other Studio and Compilation-Tracks (1982-1983), London Heaven 31.10.1982 (Mixing Desk Master)/Tracks from London Electric Ballroom 26.April 1983 (Audience Copy), and Backing-Tracks for Electric Ballroom and Brixton Ace Show, plus a bonus 7". The performances at the Electric Ballroom and the Brixton Ace were the only SPK performances to feature these backing tracks. Its a hopeless fetish that leads in an ever contracting spiral - music is born continuously and defies attempts to capture it in decorative tombs. Nevertheless. We have here a very decorative tomb. Music made from 1977 onwards by people who would be identified for a time as Severed Heads. Much is by Richard Fielding who left in 1982. Some by Andrew Wright, gone in 1980. Some by Bradbury, left in 1985, Deering also. In each case the music has been taken from the best copy, cleaned only as much as needed and organised to fit onto long playing vinyl. He left Hawaii and came to Bell Laboratories in Murray Hill, NJ, where he was "Artist in Residence" in computer music for the next two years. In 1980 he released three more cassette tapes on the Hawaiian record label Plumeria Productions: The Sea of Bliss, New Dawn, and Open Spaces. In 1981 he self-released his first LP, Computer Dont Breakdown. In 1982 he signed to Fortuna Records, who brought his music to a much wider audience with several releases throughout the 80s. The same year he released a collaborative tape with Lauri Paisley as Synarios called Uncontrolled Voltage in a classic electronica style. Slepian combines unique skills in music and electronics with a lifetime of improvised keyboard music performance. Born into a scientific family, Slepian showed both musical and technical talent early in life. In 1968, he programmed computers and built electronic music circuitry, sculpting sound with classic electronic music studio tape techniques. Starting in 1972, he was a tester on the early internet as a member of the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA). He was also a synthesizer soloist with the Honolulu Symphony Orchestra, Music Director of Honolulu Theatre for Youth, and ARP Synthesizer Sales Rep for Hawaii. His CV could go on for another page. “Pekka Airaksinen is a Finnish composer of electronic music. Airaksinen formed his first band, The Sperm, in late 1967. The Sperm mixed elements of avant-garde music with free jazz and psychedelic pop. Throughout its existence, the groups members included Antero Helander, Ilkka Lehtinen, J.O. Mallander, Markus Heikkerö, Mattijuhani Koponen, Nikke Nikamo, and Peter Widén. By 1970 Airaksinen had started his own label, O Records, to produce and distribute his solo LPs, including One Point Music (1972); The Sperms Shh! Heinäsirkat(1970); and a 1972 LP by his free-jazz-dominated project Samsa Trio (together with Helander and Koponen) -- all included here. Live performances by Airaksinen and The Sperm often took the form of confrontational performance art; two of The Sperms members were arrested for simulating sexual intercourse and screening pornographic films. Following The Sperms breakup in the mid-1970s, Airaksinen turned to Buddhism, but kept producing music in the years to come, integrating Roland 808 drum machines into his music and releasing classic LPs like 1984s Buddhas of Golden Light (ALE 004LP).Works 1968-1976 contains The Sperms 3rd ErectionEP (1968) with three bonus tracks, Shh! "Material of the genious artist known for his famous releases on his own cult-tape-label Cassettencombinat as well as the ZickZack-Label and his performance at the Geniale Dilletanten-Festival in 81 and his collaboration with Artists like Alexander Borsig (Hacke) from early Einstürzende Neubauten and Sentimentale Jugend). His sound in the beginning of the eighties was very intense but still charming, many people in the early eighties compared him to Einstürzende Neubauten, but he showed also extreme talent in using his synthesizer to also produce great minimal-electro-tunes in a style which was and still is a true treasure for the whole minimal-electro-and nowadays, techno-scene. The LP will contain 16 marvelous minimal-electro-tracks (newly mastered, party unreleased or only released on Cassettencombinat-Tapes and his self-produced first LP)." - Vinyl-On-Demand. Artist: STORM BUGS
Title: Supplementary Benefit
Format: LP
Label: Vinyl-On-Demand
Country: Germany
Price: $23.50
"Side 1 of the LP comprises full length versions of the the first two Storm Bugs singles; namely the 5 track Table Matters EP (1980) and the Metamorphose single (1981). Whilst tracks from these singles have appeared on compilations before, this is the first time they are being presented in their entirety. This means the first re-issue of the spoof industrial rockabilly track Tin and the vocal version of Make Customer Matter. The tracks have been digitally re-mastered from virgin un-played copies of the two discs. While side 1 displays Storm Bugs now infamous post-punk DIY sound with much use of scratched vinyl, disemboweled radios and home made electronics, side 2 of the LP contains tracks made exclusively with the unique British synthesizer, the VCS3. The VCS3 has a matrix pin patch bay in which any module can be connected to any other module, resulting in complex feedback loops and unexpected modulations. The VCS3 tracks which include Hodge, Slip Slap and Hiemal (And She Blew) are all taken from original Snatch Tapes cassette releases. This is the first time most have appeared on vinyl, and of course this means the gorgeous heavyweight VOD vinyl we have come to know and love." - Vinyl-On-Demand.

Artist: STRATIS
Title: Mokoyaro 1982-1985
Format: 5 LP Box
Label: Vinyl-On-Demand
Country: Germany
Price: $115.00
2012 release. "Limited edition of 500. This box is a complete anthology of the musical output and works by Albert Klein and Antonios Stratis as Stratis, as well as Kleins project with Philip Tesch, 96 Eyes, all recorded between 1982-86. It contains all of their original tape recordings released on their own label Creative Tapes (later called Temporary Music) between 1982 and 1984 (Exotic, New Face, Musica da Ballo, Film Musik, and Raging Beauty), which they also licensed to Colin Potters ICR label. It also contains all of their compilation contributions from 1983-86, originally released on various vinyl and tape labels such as Bain Total, X-Tract, Mystery Hearsay, Noel (founded by Oscar Smit (Vinyl Magazine)), and many more. All in all, 64 beautiful minimal synth tracks ranging from NDW-Classics like "Die Kur" through minimal robotic synth pop; German electro; cold wave classics like "Herzlos" and "She Is Dancing"; sci-fi and future-obsessed tracks that could have been composed for movies like Blade Runner (1982), Flash Gordon (1980), or Tron (1982); and even traditional progressive German electronic music from the Tangerine Dream school as well as tracks recalling Chris & Cosey and Yello, including "Technotow," "Foggy Weather," and "Nightfly." Masterfully played analog equipment with jazz and funk influences and superb basslines ("Musica da Ballo," "Mezzanotte," "Dance"). As if this is not enough, one can even hear tracks with Eastern electro vibes and Arabian melodies and vocal samples echoing in the background, sometimes bringing to mind Bryn Joness Muslimgauze. "Although the role of Stratis in the 80s was obscure in commercial terms, the ambassadorial significance of his self owned label Temporary Music was vital in introducing Northern American artists to what has now grown into a flourishing German electro scene and vice versa." --Mark Lane, Chain D.L.K.

Artist: TASS 2
Title: Unterhaltung
Format: LP
Label: Vinyl-On-Demand
Country: Germany
Price: $22.00
"Minimal electronics has a few different faces. There is a rather poppy version of the genre but also a more experimental version with early industrial influences. This record by TASS 2 is for sure one that belongs to the experimental style. The sounds on this album are raw, noisy and dark. Some comparisons to early Cabaret Voltaire, Throbbing Gristle and Gerechtigkeitsliga can be made, but TASS 2 is more typical minimal electronics then these artists. Titles like Stahlgeburt and Muzac speak for themselves. Best tracks are the dark pulsating Unterhaltung and Tunnelmensch. If you want to hear some authentic minimal electronics that are harsh and intense, this lp is a must have." Last copies of this 2005 release. Numbered edition of 500.

Artist: TAZARTES, GHEDALIA
Title: Works 1977-1979
Format: 4 LP Box Set + 10"
Label: Vinyl-On-Demand
Country: Germany
Price: $148.00
"4LP-Box with 10" Tazartes Transports, Tazartes, Diaspora, Une Eclipse Totale De Soleil, and Quelque Part Quelquun. The French artist and autodidact Ghedalia Tazartes who is born in Paris in 1947 is a true nomad spending more than 30 years within musical practice and experimentation. Ghedalia is the orchestra and a pop group all in one person: the self is multitude and others, freely connecting the sounds, the rhythms, his voice, his voices. The extra-European music opens the ear to Ghedalias intra-European exotism. The permanent metamorphosis is a principle of composition; it escapes control, refuses classification, diametrical to the purists of synthetic culture and technocrates of noise. He wanders through music from chant to rhythm, from one voice to another. Utilizing magnetic tape recorders, he paves the way for the electric and the vocal paths, between the muezzin psalmody and the screaming of a rocker. He traces vague landscapes where the mitre of the white clown, the plumes of the sorcerer, the helmet of a cop and Parisian anhydride collide into polyphonic ceremonies. This box concentrates on his early works from 1977-1979 and his four officially released vinyl-LPs plus a 10" of an unreleased work from 1978. All the material is superbly remastered for vinyl by Anders Peterson of www.ghostsounds.net pushing the overall quality and dimension in sound to an amazing new level and experience." - Vinyl-On-Demand.

"Third Door From The Left was a project formed by Raye Calouri (now in the band Hydra) and Kevin Thorne (We Be Echo). Both met at the TG/Cabaret Voltaire gig in 1978 and decided to join forces and make their own kind of music. The result of those session recordings between October 1980 and August 1981 has been astonishing and a classic of its genre. Artist: THOSE LITTLE ALIENS & THIS LITTLE ALIEN
Title: Recordings 1980-1981
Format: LP + 7"
Label: Vinyl-On-Demand
Country: Germany
Price: $30.00
Limited edition of 444. Includes hand-numbered certificate. "Recordings 1980-1981 is a compilation featuring Those Little Aliens & This Little Alien. There are several components that would contribute to what would become Those Little Aliens & This Little Aliens and the zine/labels Flowmotion, Image 341 and Un-Ltd Abilities, all run by British DIY protagonists Ian Dobson and Gordon Hope. The first of these came with the advent of punk and especially the "Anarchy Tour" which made its much-delayed debut in their home town of Leeds in December 1976 and introduced Ian Dobson to a scene that threw him into wholeheartedly as a seventeen year old looking for something different. With the "anybody can do it" ethos in mind, he invested in a cheap electric guitar and a drum kit. As the 1-2-3 of punk became either increasingly repetitive or commercialized, the drum kit was sold and the guitar was left to gather dust until early 1978, when an unlikely meeting in a record store with an intriguing sounding album in an almost plain white sleeve would turn Dobsons preconceptions of what music should be on its head. That album, Throbbing Gristles The Second Annual Report (IRL 001CD/LP, 1977), seemed to dispense with the ethos of "This is a chord, this is another, this is a third. Now form a band" altogether and suggested that those strange noises from a guitar were worth exploring. The advent of affordable monophonic/duophonic synths that didnt take up an entire room was also important. The recordings collected here using the Korg MS20, the Octave Cat, the legendary, but somewhat troublesome Wasp as well as the Korg SQ10 sequencer and the Boss Dr. Rhythm DR55. Recording was via a Tandberg 10x10 stereo recorder, Teac A108 Sync cassette deck through a Tensai 2030 amp, apart from the three compilation tracks which were recorded at the wonderful Colin Potters, a 4-track studio near York. All of this would have travelled no further than a bedroom in Harehills, Leeds without the humble compact audio cassette which, via a process known as "Magnitizdat", popularized by non-government approved bands in Soviet Russia, enabled the recopying and distribution of music for a minimal outlay, usually just a blank cassette, and stamps for the return postage. This release features the aforementioned compilation tracks along with tracks from the cassette releases Incident in Moderan (1980), Variable (1980) and Synthesizer Specialist (1980)." - Vinyl-On-Demand.

Artist: TI-THO
Title: s/t
Format: LP + 7"
Label: Vinyl-On-Demand
Country: Germany
Price: $30.00
“Christina Marisa Calcagno and Thomas Stelter, who recorded as the Hamburg new wave duo Ti-Tho in the early- and mid-80s, met when Calcagno was 13 and Stelter was teaching guitar to her friend Oliver. Calcagno and Oliver were in a band called Tempelfreuden, together with Markus Lipka and Johan Pop; Stelter had been following the band and going to their gigs, and eventually asked Calcagno sing in a project he was working on. Calcagno agreed, and began playing keyboard, writing lyrics, and singing with Stelter. During their first rehearsal the duo didnt have any lyrics in mind, so Calcagno picked up Die große Überfahrt, a 1975 volume of the Asterixcomic book series, and improvised. The result was their first recorded track, "Asterix" (included here), with many crazy lyrics and compositions to follow. The music scene in Germany, and especially the rising neue Deutsche welle (NDW), was very open-minded, and received even the craziest projects with open ears. Ti-Tho wrote lyrics based on experiences of everyday life and combined elements of traditional, flamenco, and punk musics... Everything was possible, and nothing was off-limits. One of the duos very first fans and admirers was Alfred Hilsberg, who was running the highly influential ZickZack label and writing for Sounds magazine. He produced and released Ti-Thos first 7", Traumtänzer, in 1982, both sides of which are included here, and got them a deal with Polydor to release three more 7"s and one 12", plus compilation-contributions for Polydor and ZickZack -- most of these tracks are included here. An LP produced in 1985 by famous producer Tom Dokoupil (Siluetes 61, The Wirtschaftswunder, Die Radierer, Die Partei...) is still waiting for release at the time of this writing. Ti-Tho made several TV-appearances and even music videos in the early-to-mid-80s. They also produced a musical,Dodona, which was performed at the Planetarium Hamburg. Sadly, moving to a major label pushed them in a commercial direction and suppressed their wonderful simplicity and artistic freedom. The pairs interest in the project waned; Calcagno began concentrating on her art and Stelter moved to the countryside, producing tracks for Calcagno to sing over when she was ready, but, unfortunately, the reunion never happened.” - Vinyl-On-Demand.

Artist: TIETCHENS, ASMUS
Title: 4K7+
Format: 5 CD Box
Label: Vinyl-On-Demand
Country: Germany
Price: $56.00
"Asmus Tietchens is a German electronic synthesist and musician whose interests in experimental music and musique concrète began during childhood. He began recording sound experiments in 1965 with electronic musical instruments, synthesizers, and tape loops. In the 1970s he met producer Okko Bekker, and the two formed a decades-long partnership. In 1980 Peter Baumann of Tangerine Dream heard a recording of Tietchenss music and offered to produce an album; the result was the 1980 release of Nachtstücke (BB 155CD/LP), which was followed by several releases on the legendary German label Sky Records between 1980 and 1983. At the same time, Tietchens also began releasing on several international cassette labels. He released Musik Aus Der Grauzone (1981) and Musik An Der Grenze (1982) on the British YHR Tapes (York House Recordings) and Musik Im Schatten (1982) and Musik Unter Tage (1983) on the American label Aeon. These four outstanding limited tape releases, now highly in-demand, are included in this five-CD set, an expanded reissue of a four-LP set released in 2007. The fifth CD, Musik Von Der Halde, contains additional audio material recorded during the 70s, including the two tracks included on a bonus 7" with a limited edition of the original vinyl release of 4K7. Except for the tracks from that 7", all of the material on Musik Von Der Halde is previously unreleased. While Tietchenss recordings from before 1984 (including the recordings found on this set) feature accessible synthesized music, his focus shifted to more abstract sound-collages, as can be heard on Formen Letzter Hausmusik, released in 1984 on Nurse With Wounds label United Dairies. This set chronicles the transitional phase between the poppy Sky releases and the more noise-based style of releases like Formen Letzter Hausmusik. Tietchens later pursued "absolute music" through an almost mathematical process of rigid formal exercises. With strong ties to Karlheinz Stockhausens early electronic work, Tietchens started specializing in irregular patterns of sonic abstractions suspended in gray drones to create cold textural space, void of external reference." - Vinyl-On-Demand.

Artist: TONE SET
Title: Such Heavy Conviction: Recordings 1981-1983
Format: 5 LP Box/7"
Label: Vinyl-On-Demand
Country: Germany
Price: $115.00
"Limited edition of 500. Tone Set (Galen Herod and Greg Horn) was an Arizona minimal synth duo that existed from 1981 to 1983. Their early sound mixed analog synthesizers and gritty drum machines with tapes of found speech. This was the sound of their first release, a 1982 cassette called Cals Ranch recorded with almost no vocals at The Center for Advanced Studies and released through the Zia record store in Tempe, AZ. In 1982, Tone Set contributed the track "Out! Out! Out!" to Placebo Records Amuck compilation (PLA-103), which also featured Meat Puppets, and Sun City Girls (the duo also contributed a track called "Happy People" under their Happy People alias). Vocals started to become a more prominent part of their sound by the time they recorded their Calibrate EP, released in February 1983 on Pegna Records (peg one). The first side featured three pop songs -- "Life is Busy" and "Slim," both sung by Herod, and "Living In Another Land," sung by Horn. The second side of the EP came from the Cals Ranch sessions. The duo also performed as Life Is Busy, The Art Farmers, and The Special Eds as outlets for their different types of songwriting styles, from ambient to New York Downtown-type material, with the Life Is Busy repertoire collecting their synthpop songs. A video for "Life is Busy" was produced from found footage, just like the vocals of most of their songs. It was shown on Videobeat and once on MTVs Basement Tapes, where, despite the presence of Mark Mothersbaugh (DEVO) as one of the judges, it didnt get enough votes for rotation, but it was licensed for six months on Cinemax in 1983. That year, each member began releasing solo works, leaving many previously unreleased recordings behind (62 recordings in total), which now finally find their well-deserved release on Vinyl-on-Demand. Such Heavy Conviction: Recordings 1981-1983 includes the contents of Cals Ranch and Calibrate (plus previously unreleased songs from the Calibrate session), and additional material collected as Masters of Funk, Unreleased Classic Tone Set, The Last Tone Set, The Earliest Tone Set, The Alternate Cals Ranch, and The Single, spread over five LPs and a 7". A must-have for serious fans and collectors of 80s minimal/synth. Several promotional videos for this box set are available at Youtube." - Vinyl On Demand.

Title: The Early Tapes Period
Format: Triple LP & 10" Box
Label: Vinyl-On-Demand
Country: Germany
Price: $77.00
"Box set of Giancarlo Toniuttis 3 early works Wechselwirkung, Metánárkôsis, Das Todesantlitz which have all been published by Toniutti on cassette tapes in 1982-83 in a very limited numbered edition. The box also includes a 10" vinyl EP with previously unreleased tracks from that same very early period (1981-84). This work represents his early musical-work as solo composer. 1982-83 was the period, and experiments with early electronics, found objects, rough percussion and noise were the attitudes that coalesce into his first 3 cassette works found on this box. This past time becomes part of the future when historically contextualized. Early electronics, acoustic objects and the beginning of a form of structuralism was the mélange of that young mind. It will come with a booklet including an essay about the history of the period, notes and data." - Vinyl on Demand.

Title: Synth Pop Art
Format: LP + 7"
Label: Vinyl-On-Demand
Country: Germany
Price: $30.00
“The Toy Shop was initially a minimal synthpop-based solo project for Leeds-based vocalist, keyboardist, and guitarist Paul Klein. He released the single The Maze in 1981 before moving to Sheffield and teaming up with Oldham-born keyboardist Philip Walsh in 1982. Their first gig together was in the Star/Websters inaugural Battle of the Bands competition in May of that year; they went on to win the competition and courted attention from major record labels for a while afterward. The guys played a handful of gigs including supporting slots forDead or Alive, A Flock of Seagulls, Nico, and Dr. Feelgood. After signing to Towerbell Records, they recorded four songs but only two were ever released, as the Attack Decade 7" in 1984. After Towerbell decided not to renew their contract, Klein and Walsh drifted apart, and Klein began to record solo again. He released the Give Me Lip-Lock I Love You single in 1986 before moving on to other projects. At the time of this release, Klein lives in Melbourne, Australia, where he records material for his Psykik Voltsproject and hopes to work on more Toy Shop songs in the future. Walsh is believed to be living in Sofia, Bulgaria, where his musical exploits are unknown. This LP (with 7") collects tracks from the groups singles and other sources, including both Kleins solo work and the duo tracks.” - Vinyl-On-Demand.

Title: Black Dwarf Wreckordings 83-85
Format: 4 LP Box
Label: Vinyl-On-Demand
Country: Germany
Price: $93.00
“2013 release. Un-Kommuniti (sometimes also called Un-Kommunity or Thee Un-Kommuniti) was an early-to-mid-80s project run by Tim Gane with support of Joe Manning, Vince "Van Hire" Adams,Dave "Smut" Smit, and Pete Levy. Tim Gane went on to achieve renown with his band Stereolab and his participation in the band McCarthy in the late 80s. Un-Kommuniti ran their own tape label, Black Dwarf. The group was interested in musical alchemy and the result of this approach in the creation of their music is an incredible mix of psychedelic elements paired with the heaviest power electronics and noise sound-walls, leading the listening to the ultimate psychedelic journey. People familiar with the music of Stereolab will definitely recognize the roots of their musical output in this four-LP box set. They were active from 1983 until 1987 and released on numerous cassette culture labels including Freedom in a Vacuum, Broken Flag, Selbstmord Organización, Cause for Concern, Sound of Pig, and more. Besides their Brutality of Fact 7", released on Cause for Concern in 1984, they just had two other vinyl releases -- contributions to the compilations Freedom in a Vacuum (1987) and Statement (Broken Flag, 1984). This is the ultimate chance to enjoy a musical journey with almost four hours of carefully selected tape tracks by Un-Kommuniti. All the tracks selected for this box were recorded between 1983 and 85 and were previously only released on the groups own Black Dwarf label. Includes tracks from Black Dwarf(BDRS1), Doktrine (BDC1), Overliberated/Live in the Shithouse (BDW 06), The Prime Advantage (BDC10),Anarchist Bingo Hall/Soundtracks (BDC11), Sense of Unmaking (BDC12), Dhol Chants (BDC14), and Ex-Oblivione (BDC17), as well as the compilations Faith Will Never Die... This box is about those artists and people who planted the seed of an independent culture that would develop throughout the 80s and is still active today. Title: The Lung Function Years: Solo & Side-Projects To Click Click
Format: 5 LP Box
Label: Vinyl-On-Demand
Country: Germany
Price: $115.00
Limited edition of 333. Includes hand-numbered certificate. "The Lung Function Years gives an insight into Adrian and Derek Smiths musical legacy from 1982 to 1986 focusing on their Lung Function label, solo work and side projects Half Nervous/Those Nervous Surgeons, EFF (Eject Or Fast Forward) and Click Click. In 1976, Adrian got a decent tape machine and recorded everything he ever created. From 1977 to 1980, and before starting the Lung Function Label, Adrian and Derek had the post-punk project Those Nervous Surgeons (Adrian Smith - guitar/synth/vocals; Tim Wilson - bass; Derek Smith - drums; Mark Turney - guitar) and Half Nervous (Adrian Smith - synth/vocals; Derek Smith - drums/designs/direction). In 1980, Adrian took possession of Tim Wilsons Wasp synth and Akai reel-to-reel. He worked alone and eventually asked others to help expand on the music. From 1980 to 1981, the brothers were very productive, creating the skeletons of songs which would be shaped into the music of Click Click. But before this, Adrian started to release music on cassette under the names Another View and later on as EFF. In 1981, changing their name to Click Click, they added funky experimental guitarist Rick Camp to the band and recorded "Silver Single". Their sound mutated into post punk/jagged rock. But after much turmoil in the band, they break up and the guitars and the name changed back to Half Nervous. In 1982, Adrian and Derek begin to gig as an electronic duo, their friends donated equipment and Derek acquires a set of electronic drums. Over two weeks they developed and recorded Behind Dark Glasses. It is a brash, Residents influenced collection of dark industrial electronics. At same time, Adrian Smith releases If Look Could Kill and in 1983 Another Bag Of Legs For Ya is recorded onto a borrowed Portastudio but is never officially released. Half Nervous (Jenny Prestana on viola at this time) change their name back to Click Click and record a version of "The Sack" and revisit more of Adrians solo work as well as versions of "Natural Actions" and "The Last Chance" from Behind Dark Glasses. From 1984 to 1986, Click Click (with Jon Morris replacing Jennys viola with another Wasp synth) are back in full flow, Adrians solo material continues to materialize especially under the moniker EFF. Since 1986, an ever increasing collection of cassettes and hours of recorded music sit unheard in the vaults of Lung Function." - Vinyl-On-Demand.

The result was the minimal/synth-classic and highly sought-after tapes A Slight Delay and With a Little Help, which they distributed and published through their own Ding Dong Discs label. Another ex-Monoman, William Wiusselink alias Wizzkopf, joined the project in 1982. Artist: VAN WIJNGAARDEN, ROB/(HEAVY) MENTAL
Title: s/t
Format: LP
Label: Vinyl-On-Demand
Country: Germany
Price: $22.00
“Pop drones and minimal synth from the Dutch mountains. This LP, which is also available as part of the expansive 80s Minimal.Synth.Wave: Volume IIIbox set (VOD 138LP), covers the early-80s work ofRob van Wijngaarden. It opens with captivating minimal synth instrumentals from his 1981 split cassette with Les Chats as Rob Van, originally released on Ptôses Ptôse Production Présente label. Recording sound on sound, always using the first take for each layer, van Wijngaarden created a series of dark, moody, melodic pieces inspired by Bowies Low(1977) and punks DIY attitude. Van Wijngaarden founded Heavy Mental some time in 1980 for his contribution to Dutch post-punk label Plurexs 17 to 7 on 33 compilation EP, included here. Van Wijngaarden enlisted his friend Jacob Baars, who owned a guitar, and bought a Korg MS-20 synthesizer and a Revox A-77 tape deck (inspired by its mention in the notes ofEnos Discreet Music (1975)). The band played several gigs (including a supporting slot for Bush Tetras) in several incarnations. They later changed their name to Mental and continued as a trio, with Baars and Hans Deen on guitars and van Wijngaarden on drum machine and synthesizer; their sound was a grunge-like wall of guitars over industrial bass, with one-chord songs lacking any verse-chorus structure. The trio was at its best in live performance, a power captured here on "Charles Manson," originally released on the 1981 Wpk Festival compilation cassette, as well as two tracks from the Mental Livecassette, originally released in 1981 on van Wijngaardens Mental Cassettes label. Van Wijngaarden was part of the cassette-trading scene that Throbbing Gristles Industrial Records newsletter had helped to foster; he occasionally mailed out one-off cassettes hours after recording them, and tracks from one of these extremely rare tapes are included here. One of the tape-traders with whom van Wijngaarden exchanged work was Ruud Kluivers, who sent Heavy Mental their only letter after hearing 17 to 7 on 33. Kluivers had an MS-20 too, and wanted to jam; a 1981 collaboration with van Wijngaarden is represented here as well. The collection also includes a few tracks from other splits and compilations released between 1980 and 1982. There are many tales about the Dutch post-punk movement, and most are probably more captivating than this one, but van Wijngaardens work is just as intense as anything that was happening in the Netherlands at the time.” - Vinyl-On-Demand.

Artist: VOICE OF EYE
Title: Anthology One: 1989-91
Format: Double LP
Label: Vinyl-On-Demand
Country: Germany
Price: $38.00
"Anthology One is culled from the first three cassette releases by Voice of Eye; Isolation, Voice of Eye and Resonant Fields / Hot Gypsy Fink Hell, all three tapes released on their own Cyclotron Industries Label between 1989-1991. These are the earliest recordings by Voice of Eye. Voice of Eye can be doubtlessly described as the protagonists and godfathers of the special genre of Ambient-Ritual-Music. Their specialty is organic sound sculpting: a form of electronic ethnic ambient music that relies mainly on electronic drones and manipulated instruments including instrumentation with special self-built instruments. The music is all improvised over a period of two years and covers the evolution of their early sound. It will immediately catch your attention and pulls you into an altered but extremely positive state of mind. This is the first in a series of Anthology releases documenting hard to find Voice of Eye material and previously unreleased recordings to be released on several labels in the near future." -Vinyl-On-Demand

Title: Sessions 81-83
Format: LP
Label: Vinyl-On-Demand
Country: Germany
Price: $22.00
“Zephyr in the Swamp (Brendan Coyle and Colin Hughes) originated from the Wirral, England-based synth trio The Games. The duos friend Martin Graham joined briefly as a vocalist, but after he passed away the band continued as a duo. This album contains hypnotic, moody, melodic instrumentals created after the breakup of The Games, between 1981 and 1983. They created the music at Melva Rooms and The Loft (spaces provided by the late Mr. Whooley in Oxton, Wirral) with a Roland SH-09, a Boss Dr. Rhythm, and a Roland Organ/Strings 09, using sound-on-sound echo effects through an Akai 4000D and triggering the drum machine into various patterns. The recordings, some of which the band didnt realize existed, were unearthed from cassette and reel-to-reel tapes and were extremely fragile -- in some cases unsalvageable. And so Zephyr in the Swamp took the best tracks from the collection and had them mastered for vinyl.”
