Artist: ZIP CODE RAPISTS Title: Sing and Play the Three Doctors and Other Sounds of Today Format: CD Label: Eabla Country: USA Price: $16.00
"As SF Weekly journalist Mike Rowell says, "Part comedy act, part psychodrama, the ZIP CODE RAPISTS were a volatile, often antagonistic duo who wreaked havoc on San Franciscos underground during the first half of the 90s. You never knew quite what to expect from guitarist JOHN SINGER and vocalist GREGG TURKINGTON, but they always challenged the conventions of what a band should be." From their supposed beginnings as a Doors cover band from Texas, to their shameful years of bloated excess, to their acrimonious breakup and inevitable decade-later reunion, this CD details the hope and anger, the trauma and triumph, of this quintessentially American folk-punk combo. In addition to the Zip Code Rapists astonishing 1992 debut LP Sing and Play the Three Doctors and Other Sounds of Today, this CD compiles the overlong 7-inch The Man Cant Bust Our Music (1993) and the inexcusably short 12-inch 94124 (1995), all of which have been lovingly remastered for todays more discerning listener. This deluxe package also includes previously unheard outtakes and compilation tracks, four songs from an incendiary 1993 show at CBGB, and a touching tribute to Seals and Crofts from a 2006 reunion show. With the exception of 94124, none of this seminal material has ever been released on CD. And none of it was ever released on good-quality vinyl after competent mastering, either, so even if youre familiar with the original releases, youll be amazed by all the details you missed! Best of all, each CD comes with a FREE RUB-ON ZCR TATTOO, which can be worn for a day, or cherished for a lifetime." - Eabla.
Artist: GRASS MAGIC Title: s/t Format: LP Label: Earjerk Country: USA Price: $20.00
"The Grass Magic LP comes from Wisconsin (the label is Earjerk)... its a one-off jam that was recorded the night before the legendary Pasture Festival and Jubilee in August 2004, by a 10-person lineup that features most key members of The Davenport Family, both of The Skaters, Glenn Donaldson of Jewelled Antler.... its a total jam and it sounds like it, but once Side A gets going it picks up a nice walloping head of steam and one thing that distinguishes both sides from the general mid-00s moanwave onslaught is the crafty psychedelic rhythms that snake underneath. Anyway, Im glad they pressed this thing up (the cover is a thrift-store LP jacket turned inside out and silkscreened with stoner artwork, and some brief liners that name the lineup and include a rad quote from Rabindranath Tagore, stuff like that)." - Larry Dolman, Blogstitude.
Artist: DRUNJUS Title: Thorn Shield Format: LP Label: Earjerk Country: USA Price: $20.00
" too killer journeys... Dremcrom and Relax, Hunter. Both recorded live. One side completely in the analog realm; from the boys cassette deck straight to 180 gram black wax. Strictly limited to 300 copies. Hand screened on thrifted album covers turned inside out. No two alike. Side A - Dremcrom is a sideways drift through the earths crust which confirms that the core truly is molten. Drunjus bore a hole straight to the center of your brain. Live at the infamous Wisco Biker Bar... Side B - Relax Hunter is a more galactic affair. With enough molten fuel to get their ship airborn, Drunjus escape the atmosphere and enter a 300 year cryogenic sleep... co-released with Tree Tapes..." - Ear Jerk
Artist: FAY, BILL Title: Bill Fay Format: CD Label: Eclectic Discs Country: UK Price: $18.50
Reissue of the first Bill Fay album, originally released in 1970 on Deram Nova; 2005 r24-bit remaster from original tapes, with 2 bonus tracks from his 1967(!) single, extended liner notes by Fay himself, etc. Very well done. "Bill Fay is an enigmatic UK based singer, songwriter and pianist whose work is impossible to categorise. His late 60s and early 70s work has a strong cult following, is highly regarded by many music journalists and is dark and haunting with songs rarely going over three minutes. Bill was originally signed to Decca and between 1967 and 1971 the label released a beautifully odd single (Some Good Advice/Screams In The Ears) and two excellent albums (the lushly orchestrated Bill Fay and the rawer, more rock-oriented Time Of The Last Persecution). Bills fantastic songs have touched and inspired many - his fans include country rockers Wilco, songwriter/producer Jim ORourke, Ben Chasny of Six Organs Of Admittance and David Michael of Current 93." His first two albums are incredibly emotionally complex: haunted, harrowing, holy and hopeful. Rather than shying away from these contradictions, Fay made it a note to embrace them. The flamboyantly bitter and cinematic orchestral flourishes on Fays self-titled album and the ferocious guitar wail of free jazz heavyweight Ray Russell on Time of the Last Persecution, are both met by Fays conversational, modest vocal inflection that is unquestionable in its sheer honesty and vulnerability. -Matt Wellins, Dusted.
Artist: FAY, BILL Title: Time Of The Last Persecution Format: CD Label: Eclectic Discs Country: UK Price: $18.50
Reissue of the 2nd Bill Fay album, originally released in 1971 on Deram. 2005 24-bit remaster from the original tapes, with extended liner notes from Fay. Time Of The Last Persecution is an album noted for its stripped-down and stripped-away raw nerve. Differing slightly from his first self-titled release, this record is considered to be more raucous, more guitar-oriented, alongside some simple piano. "Time Of The Last Persecution is a bonafide classic album, the kind you will keep going back to until the day you die. The fact that, beyond the occasional mention in Mojo (and that for his first album), Fay remains practically unknown is almost incomprehensible. This album makes a mockery of lesser figures who have persisted in the music crits lexicon, and while the likes of Dylan are certainly a touchstone for him, Fay really is in a class of his own here." -headheritage.uk
Artist: SUNBURNED HAND OF THE MAN Title: The Trickle-Down Theory of Lord Knows What Format: CD Label: Eclipse Country: USA Price: $14.00
"Released nearly a year to the day of the recording itself, this full length CD from Massachusetts own Sunburned Hand of the Man is truly brilliant! It features 5 cuts recorded at the top of a rickety red staircase on June 20, 2002 that will keep you groovin and freaking out! Highly recommended!" - Eclipse. ""Welcome to the latest chapter in the Book of Hand - an lp documenting a private performance from June of 2002, in which we further explore the art of investing emotional surplus into a trust that yields the fruit of mad, naked passion. Hear the voice of Reason backwards, the drum that dreams are made of, and the tunnel at the end of the light. All pressed into two sides that are guaranteed to keep you happening. Yours truly, Out of Hand" - Sun Burned.
Artist: CARTER, TOM Title: Root King Format: LP Label: Eclipse Country: USA Price: $14.00
"Second solo release (first if CDRs dont count) by Charalambides member Tom Carter. White Les Paul copy, lap steel, and a purloined bell collection layered into three long tracks of string moan and slithering hum. Amanifesto of grounding during an uprooted time, an attempt to bend in the wind. A slice of a long winter and a momentary flash of cranially pooled guitar sound suddenly scattered by unexpected freedom. A guitar album (mostly)." - Eclipse.
Artist: MY CAT IS AN ALIEN Title: The Rest Is Silence Format: Double LP Label: Eclipse Country: USA Price: $19.00
"The Rest Is Silence is till now the most complete and varied work of My Cat Is An Alien. After some totally improvised works, such as Landscapes of an Electric City on Ecstatic Peace and Il Segno on Starlight Furniture Co., with this debut release on Eclipse Records MCIAA start a more complex and oblique studio-modus operandi, in which the instantaneous composition is now a basement open to stratified extraterrestrial fluxus of sounds, often permeated by melancholic vocal inserts. The title of this new double album is taken from the last words spoken by Hamlet before his dying in the homonymous Shakespearians tragedy. The whole corpus of the work is an ectoplasm of sounds flowing from the earth surface towards the sky; with their electric and acoustic guitars, some pedal effects and a series of weird space-toys, MCIAA light a candle as a bright beacon in the darkness of the Great Void. From the Infinite Spaces incipit, a sad whispered voice delayed through a toy-megaphone, moving on isolated guitar strokes going downhill, defines The Rest Is Silence vocabulary: a new intimate alien folky-blues mood expanded on the avant-space sounds that have marked MCIAA since their beginning. Self-recorded and produced in Torino at their own Space Room headquarters during the cold winter time, The Rest Is Silence speaks the same intimate and desolated language of Tim Buckleys Lorca and reflects the same suffering of some primitive folk-blues masters such as Blind Lemon Jefferson, projected in the deepest outer space. Each track is dedicated to the mystery of the 4 elements (air, earth, fire, water), as surrealist metaphors involving the mystery of life and death. When all is over, things vanish in the quiet brilliance of the Cosmos; MCIAA will stay till Silence will come to stay forever." - Eclipse.
Artist: UNITED SUPREME COUNCIL Title: Oastem! Vibe Orchestra Format: LP Label: Eclipse Country: USA Price: $13.50
"Document of a big band made up of the entire lineups of Pelt and Rake (+ additional miscellaneous players) that gigged several times in 1996 and 1997. Whether clearing the room at the Fredericksburg Centre for the Arts or emptying the hall at the Black Cat, the band always kicked it with uncompromising true love and substantial Oastem! vibe. The long improvisations performed varied wildly from show to show, often starting with a bang and slowly expanding into open space where the interesting little details emerged. This LP is an extract from the center of a two hour performance recorded in April 1997 at Tommys in Richmond. The players are: Mike Gangloff (guitar, shenai, electronics), Jack Rose (lap steel), Patrick Best (guitar, bass resonator, conga), ~SKB (bass and percussion), V2G2 (nylon string guitar, percussion, shenai and voice), Planet C (moog, sax, percussion), Mick (dumbek and dijembe), Beth Jones (dijembe), and ??? Edition of 330 copies."- Eclipse.
Artist: MIGRANTES Title: Monsoon Moods Format: LP Label: Eclipse Country: USA Price: $12.00
This is the 2nd LP by Migrantes (Jason Bill {guitar, air organ, Hammond organ, cymbal} & Caroline Vickers {Hammond organ & vocals}) of Tucson, AZ. Pressed in an edition of 536 copies and housed in a lovely printed full color jacket, this is a sublime record! “For those that have never been there, the desert signifies space, sand, and nothing. When I (who live nowhere near any deserts) first visited Jason & Caroline (who live smack in the middle of one), that was what I had thought too. I was a bit surprised that the desert in fact looks nothing like its platonic counterpart - it is in fact interlaced with ropy thorned plants, crawls with life of every species, and is inevitably circumscribed by distant mountains. For some, Monsoon Moods may capture the real desert, the one where home fires burn under looming stone, where love and life flourish in austerity. For me though this LP somehow encompasses sweaty nights in 100 degree summer warehouses, ghostly drives through Norfolk shipyards, the slow crack of datura pods drying in the sun, and all the other things that have grown inside j&c to buoy them up into this warmly inviting space illuminated by their big hearts. A stunning record that camouflages the simplicity of its ingredients with songs of glowing precision and vox-laced Hammond drones of vertical majesty.” - Tom Carter.
Artist: WOMB Title: Womb Format: LP Label: Eclipse Country: USA Price: $16.00
"Improvised free jazz from San Diego featuring Josh Quon (satellite member of Upsilon Acrux and member of Children of Gauhd), Christopher Williams (just released duo CD with Derek Bailey on Incus / Compatible), Ray Raposa (the creative impetus of the Castanets, with an album out on Asthmatic Kitty in the fall), Dan Bryant (member of the Skaters), Ilya Monosov (various solo and collaborative releases -- plays guitar and vibes on this LP), as well as Connor Kirkwood and Gabe Sundy. Limited edition of 200 copies." - Eclipse.
Artist: MY CAT IS AN ALIEN Title: When the Windmills Whirl Dies Format: LP Label: Eclipse Country: USA Price: $15.50
"The new work by the space-brothers Maurizio and Roberto Opalio, alias My Cat Is An Alien. Both the words, recited and shaped by Roberto from his own homonymous poem that suggested the title of the album, and the oblique minimalism of the complex musical texture made of flowing space sounds, represent the abstract neo-expressionistic substratum of the whole corpus of the work. Moving throughout a nebula of space dust and debris, the starting spoken-word vocals alongside the percussive section sound as powerfully impressive as the violent imagery of trees beaten down by the storm, while the whispered silence of Perspective of Time and Fallin, on side two, discloses the emotional and existential universe of an isolated broken soul, lost in a world of inanity. This is the center of the No-thing Universe, where each single word or sound assumes the aspect of a sort of pagan prayer that speaks the language of astral folk-blues. In this context, MCIAAs outer space becomes a re-found uterus, meant to be the form of a new self-biogenesis. At the same time, space is conceived as symbol of the eternal theatre surrounding the mysterious cycle of life & death; such infinite space, despite such limited time. This cosmic-chant of the new millennium may heat our nights like a flame left to enlighten the shadows of the coldest darkness." Edition of 600 copies.
Artist: MONOSOV/SWIRNOFF Title: Seven Recorded Works (Volume 1) Format: LP Label: Eclipse Country: USA Price: $13.50
"The sound of two souls, all alone in claustrophobically infinite space. These two volumes see disenchanted Californians Ilya Monosov and Preston Swirnoff whittling out their own autonomous spaces far from the surf and sun, then climbing in and nailing the door firmly shut behind them. Seven Recorded Works comes over like someone has leached the spirits of Ennio Morricone, Eric Satie and Pauline Oliveros, stuffed them in a leaky wooden barrel, and set them rolling out to sea on a spring riptide. Uncertain, hesitant piano and melodica miniatures undercut with the evil drone of harmonica and hurdy-gurdy. Its a creaking and queasy trip, guaranteed to heave underwater, piratical nightmares out of some long suppressed substream of your subconscious." - Alan Cummings. Edition of 500 copies.
Artist: DOUBLE LEOPARDS Title: Halve Maen Format: Double CD Label: Eclipse Country: USA Price: $17.50
"After two full length LPs and a handful of CDRs comes Double Leopards magnum opus, a tome to the alveoli, paranormal science, and murderous intrigue on the high seas. A rueful journey that they are all still recovering from, the Leopards had to boldly ingest substances that while harmful to their original earthly containers, turned the ghosts of Panthalassa from transparent to opaque, allowing them to see with their mortal eyes the horrible shape of the enemy. With guitars, tapes, piano, drums, and a craggy heap of rusted electronics, they went to battle, and like the early grainy photographs of Americas Civil War, the document is poignant and will only gain significance as time passes and the medium improves." - Eclipse.
Artist: MONOSOV/SWIRNOFF Title: Two Recorded Works (Volume 2) Format: LP Label: Eclipse Country: USA Price: $13.50
"Two Recorded Works opens in equally brooding, cinematic fashion with Swirnoffs air organ slow gasping its weighted way through magenta dust-clouds of bowed guitar. Later, sea-shanty bellows underscore the spectral traces of whistles and ghosted vocals and whistles to particularly melancholic effect. But the final side, credited to Monosov and Swirnoffs rock unit The Shining Path, is a whole other kettle of herring. It rockets upwards into the fuzzed out expansive zones of the Rallizes sound, but is tethered to an on-edge, speedfreak shake of a Suicide rhythm, just too fast for comfort. Bliss handily circumvented, higher mind tied to delerium tremens. I think theyre trying to tell us something…" - Alan Cummings. "Time passed, and we began recording Volume 2 which contains our experiments with song form and our rock band, The Shining Path. We would like to thank Ed Hardy for offering us creative freedom over a span of four vinyl records, the last of which we plan to record in 2005." - Eclipse. Ilya Monosov (2005). Edition of 500 copies.
Artist: LUBELSKI, SAMARA Title: In the Valley Format: LP Label: Eclipse Country: USA Price: $14.00
"Reissue of cdr released on the Child of Microtones label in 2004. Samara Lubelski is a member of the groups Hall of Fame and Tower Recordings (to name a few) and In The Valley was her first solo release available in a numbered edition of 99 copies. This vinyl reissue features Samara playing only violin and it is really stunning. Recorded at the Rare Book Room "to record these works that include pre-drone, ballads, and avant spirituals. The two most hyperbolic tracks are her duet with the moon moaner and her darked Suzuki version of the Blind Boy Grunt classic All the Tired Horses, both blues songs and examples of 20th century music played for Delta enthusiasts, major label deletions, and country blues connoisseurs. However, it is her originals and stark unaccompanied playing juxtaposed with gorgeously overdubbed synchronistic timbres that are truly over the moon on this recording. The amorous tonal gush that radiates from I Love Thlowth is a vibrating omnichord of spectral abundance as spooked as Freenys Barn Dance AND as intricate as the dual fiddles of Andrew & George Carter but done on a single viloin. In short these revolutionary compositions recall an iconoclastic frolic where she is wielding a magic bow and waving auroral pizzicato spirit spells over the triangulated eye mind of Kosugi, Henry Sims / Flynt and Clark Kessinger." – MV. Comes housed in a eye-catching full color sleeve and includes an insert." - Eclipse.
Artist: SUNBURNED HAND OF THE MAN Title: Wedlock Format: Double LP Label: Eclipse Country: USA Price: $23.00
"Wedlock captures Sunburned in its 2003 suit when they took it to the West Coast to tour their way up to Wasilla, Alaska to attend and perform at Paul & Vals wedding on the longest day of the year, June 21, 2003. Under the bright midnight sun, Sunburned recorded this document, a testament to irony, omnipotence, moisture, pain, and the weight. Come and dine at this one, clear table. Double LP. September 2005 release taken from recordings in Alaska on the Summer Solstice. Features a beautifully designed heavy duty gatefold sleeve with two inserts featuring many photos from the trip to Alaska as well as some pictures from Northern California from the same tour." - Eclipse.
Artist: DEAD MACHINES Title: Live at Tzompantli Format: LP Label: Eclipse Country: USA Price: $15.00
"The a side was recorded at the first No Fun Festival in March 2004 (Brooklyn) and features a little comedy to start with and then things get heavy...and the second side is the very first VG Kids/Wolf Den Ypsi Street Level throwdown....our set was live on a 6 color shirt screen press and Nate brought a fog machine that blasted out the room and into the parking lot night of the VG complex...near the end you can hear people chucklin cause its absurd..that night was also the first "offical" Sick Llama, and MI debut of Failing Lights...great night....DM had a weird 7 small speaker set up on the heads of the press and spun it slighty for that dead-universe dying electronic creeping blast sound....." Printed covers with the back cover featuring a demented John Olson collage - killer!"
Artist: LABREQUE, PAUL & VALERIE WEBB Title: Trees, Chants and Hollers Format: LP Label: Eclipse Country: USA Price: $15.00
"Duo weaves a cautious, dreamy folk spell, reminiscent of the vocal impressionism and effected acoustic sonics of Charalambides, beautiful stuff charged with a sense of desperation and love lingering on the edge of loss. Ties to Sunburned Hand of the Man and other Boston area ensembles, like Bright." - Lee Jackson.
Artist: PELT Title: Heraldic Beast Format: Double LP Label: Eclipse Country: USA Price: $22.00
"Intense 2 LP survey of Pelt geography around the turn of the century, compiling live recordings the band issued on cdrs in tiny editions or on comps plus some unreleased material. Combines the most all-out electric attacks Pelts ever deigned to release, plus some of the growling drone float that preceded/coincided with the bands jump into acoustic material. Off the hook gatefold packaging that maybe offers hints of sources, etc. Full list of recording dates/locations/prior releases is supposed to be posted on www.klang.org soon." This dbl lp set is sure to blow some minds - especially those who have come to know Pelt in the past 2-3 years. These early recordings (1998-2003) are heavy and sure to please those who have been waiting patiently for this. The packaging is incredible, too - with beautiful artwork and a very sturdy gatefold sleeve. Dig it." - Eclipse.
Artist: MONOSOV/SWIRNOFF Title: Recorded Works Vol. 3 Format: LP Label: Eclipse Country: USA Price: $14.50
"California sound artists Ilya Monosov and Preston Swirnoff return with two more sonic labyrinths stretched over disparate terrain. As on their previous albums, Monosov and Swirnoff cast boundaries to the wind. Disillusioned and wise to the ways of the world, the duo not only succeeds in propping up the shambolic planet they created on Recorded Works Vol. 1 & Vol. 2, but also in soaring toward the furthest reaches of distant suns. Blurring the line between composition and improvisation, these new installments are rare, unearthed gems. Volume 3 begins with dancing shadows and acoustic myopia. Monosovs minimal vocals lead Swirnoffs piano ramblings deeper into the cerebral maze, inadvertently finding the best route out. Setting off the shaky delicacy of the opener and Side A closer, Repeat Again (with enchanting vocals from Naomi) are the raucous, industrial rhythms of Snake Lust and Fly Away. The Indian-inspired drones of With Charles Curtis top the whole thing off with cinematic splendor. Monosov and Swirnoff manage to seamlessly mesh these ideas into a cohesive whole." --Brad Rose.

Artist: CHARALAMBIDES Title: Rose/Thorn Format: LP Label: Eclipse Country: USA Price: $21.00
"Long-, long-, long-, loooooong-awaited and singular entry in the Charalambides and Klang Industries discographies; one of those does it really exist? items thats finally seeing daylight, or moonlight. A stark, unsettling and beautiful slice of duo Charlambides invocation/incantation, taken from the period between Jason Bill and Heather Leigh Murrays tenures with the band and featuring extraordinary chord organ and vocal work from Christina and some signature lap steel mastery from Tom. Fans of the bands most recent, more song-based work will find this relevatory, long-time listeners will say ahhhh and settle in for the flight. Heavy vinyl, limited pressing, cover handiwork by Tom, the first release in years from Klang and a sign perhaps of a truly epic revival." "Long-awaited Klang debut of Charalambides. This record has been brewing since 2000, and is now finally available under the auspices of Eclipse/Klang. Two side-long improvisations in much the same vein as IN CR EA SE, a bit more topographical perhaps, but still horizontally serene and horizonless. Chord organ, lap steel, vocals." --Wholly Other.
Artist: PLASTIC CRIMEWAVE SOUND Title: Plastic Crimewave Sound Format: LP Label: Eclipse Country: USA Price: $19.00
"At last, a new LP from Chicagos spacepunk purveyors! Following 06s sprawling double concept LP, No Wonderland, this is perhaps their most consistent and paint-peeling statement yet. These tracks were captured with little studio trickery, in a live-type fashion, a set of bellowing free-fest scuzzrock, biker boogie, Kraut-style dirges, cosmic communal jams, and fist-pumping no-anthems. This is easily the most seriously rocking Plastic Crimewave Sound line-up yet, with hot new leads courtesy of Nick Dvyne, and the solid backbone of PCW (guitarscrawl, yelps) Mark Lux (bass rumblage, electronix) and Lawrence (Skog Device) Peters (drum). Folks have actually been clamoring for this line-up to lay it down to wax (especially the aforementioned anthemic cut Shockwave Rider) for some time, so get ready to explode into space. Limited edition one-time pressing." - Eclipse.
Artist: SPLENDOR MYSTIC SOLIS Title: Heavy Acid Blowout Tensions Live! Format: LP Label: Eclipse/Galactic Zoo Disk Country: USA Price: $13.50
"Together for only one US tour, this transcontinental supergroup featured Kawabata Makoto (Acid Mothers Temple, Mainliner, Nishinihon, Musica Transonic, countless other projects), Sasaki Hisashi (Ruins), Shimura Koji (White Heaven, High Rise, Mainliner, Miminokoto), mastermind Nanjo Asahito (High Rise, Mainliner, Red Alert, etc.) and Plastic Crimewave (Utopia Carcrash, The Unshown, Plastic Crimewave Sound) who organized the at times tension-filled tour. These two concerts from Chicago and Detroit feature barnstorming acid rock blowouts that eerily stop on a dime and escalate to dizzying heights just as easily. Some frames of reference might include Ash Ra Tempel, Amon Duul II or Japanese psychsters White Heaven and Fushitsusha. The album features equally excessive lysergic artwork by Plastic Crimewave. Alan Cummings from The Wire proclaimed upon hearing, Its much better than most of Nanjos releases." - Eclipse.
Artist: SMACK MUSIC 7/THE POLLY SHANG KUAN BAND Title: Split Format: 7" Label: Ecstatic Peace Country: USA Price: $5.50
"this is basically karen lollypop/karen constance (wife, sister-in-law and fellow Jock to Decaer Pinga). Smack Music 7 is her doing solo tape music, a style she refers to as Glamtronics - it is amazing, elegant and stately. The Polly Shang Kuan Band is her ever changing groop, consisting of herself and whoever else is drunk enough to partake (in this case Cecile Gilbert) a very sensuous text/test experience. edition of 300." - Ecstatic Peace.
Artist: FOOLE, DREDD and THE DIN Title: The Whys of Fire Format: CD Label: Ecstatic Peace Country: USA Price: $11.00
"Thurston Moore and Pelt in Dredd Fooles Din this time around (past Din members include Mission of Burma & the Volcano Suns). Mastered by Jim ORourke. Quite handsome Acutal-tribute cover art. The Whys of Fire: The idea evolved a couple years ago. Dredd was playing a lot again, after his move to Vermont, and it seemed like the time to get some of his new instant compositional gambits onto tape. It so happened that Pelt were going to be coming to town pretty soon. That seemed like a good connection. Chris and Thurston both played with Dredd already in various action units, so that made sense. Hell, it all made sense. In the way that things can on hot, buggy nights in a swamp, when theres plenty of cold beer and enough electricity to go around." - Ecstatic Yod. Features Dredd Foole (voice), Patrick Best (prepared amplified acoustic guitar), Mike Gangloff (esraj, tanpura), Jack Rose (prepared electric guitar), Chris Corsano (drums, percussion) and Thurston Moore (electric guitar).

Artist: RADIO/GUITAR (BARBARA ESS AND PEGGY AWESH) Title: Radio Guitar Format: CD Label: Ecstatic Peace Country: USA Price: $12.50
"RADIO GUITAR is nine tracks of fantastic music and noise utilizing radio sound and electric guitar as realized by Peggy Ahwesh and Barbara Ess respectively. Filmmaker Peggy Ahwesh came of age in the 1970s with feminist politics and the experimental film underground. She started working with Super-8 film in her teens and went on to make feature films, including Splice This (1999) and Girls Beware (1997). Barbara Ess has been performing music in NYC since the 1970s w/ such famed no-wave groups as The Static and Daily Life as well as The Glenn Branca Ensemble and Y Pants, a trio of women playing music on toy instruments. Most recently she has been a member of Ultra Vulva. She has also worked as a publisher of Just Another Asshole - a series of anthologies of artists works in various formats." - Ecstatic Peace.
Artist: DEAD MACHINES Title: Human Brain Wasting Syndrome Format: LP Label: Ecstatic Peace Country: USA Price: $20.00
"Dead Machines is the lovechild of John Olson of Wolf Eyes and Tovah ORourke of Wooden Wand & the Vanishing Voice. John leaves behind the Wolf Eyes angst, yet keeps all of the aggression while Tovah adds her own version of electronic mayhem and magic. To date, most of their releases have been on Johns infamous label, American Tapes, notorious for pressing quantities of two to forty-two in packaging that wont conform itself to your music shelf."
Artist: NOTEKILLERS Title: 1977-1981 Format: CD Label: Ecstatic Peace Country: USA Price: $13.00
"The Notekillers were a Philadelphia based band between the years of 1977 1981. They were a nowave guitar/drums, instrumental band that had one amazing self released 7" in 1978, "The Zipper" b/w "Clock Wise". They played in NYC a couple of times, most memorably opening for Glen Branca, which is how they came to the attention of Ecstatic Peace. A few years back, Sonic Youths / Ecstatic Peaces Thurston Moore was asked to make a fantasy mix tape for Mojo magazine. He included the song "The Zipper", saying, "It was one of those records that resonated fully with all of us at the time - a genuine hybrid of radical approach (ayler/pistols!)" This rock based group from the age of punk rock and disco featured talented musicians that had two main goals. The first was to experiment; to push their combined abilities to uncommon results. The second was that their efforts should be able to follow any record on their turntable, whether it be reggae, rock, acoustic or punk and the influences would be evident while maintaining their own driving rock sound. This new release from Ecstatic Peace includes the song that started it all, "The Zipper" and its B-Side, "Clock Wise", the never released single, "Run Dont Stop" b/w "Juggernauts" and eleven tracks taken from 2-track reels, dusty cassettes and an actual 8-track cartridge." - Ecstatic Peace.
Artist: DE WYS, MARGARET Title: I Oh Format: CD Label: Ecstatic Peace Country: USA Price: $14.50
"Margaret De Wys is a composer living and teaching in the Hudson Valley region of New York. She has collaborated with artists Joan Jonas, Charlie Ahearn, Glenn Branca, Maryanne Amacher, Rudolf Grey, and Kiki Smith. With Branca she was a founding member of the legendary NYC no-wave group Theoretical Girls." - EP. "This composition developed as a music-centered response to my personal work with liminal states of consciousness that arose in a non-art context generally characterized as healing. Based on casual recordings of my own voice that I made during actual sessions, my soundtrack focuses on sequences of highly stimulated vocalization (excited, ecstatic, etc.), particularly those that seem to embody a unique and intense experience of knowing, something like a direct encounter with vitality. The effects: sound, vision and emotion in the rawest possible state. Truth shot through me like a whistle." - Margaret De Wys.
Artist: FOOLE, DREDD Title: A Long, Losing Battle with Eloquence and Intimance Format: LP Label: Ecstatic Peace Country: USA Price: $13.00
"7 songs of studio-recorded solo Dredd Foole on vocals and acoustic guitar, in a totally different vein than the last Dredd Foole & the Din record with Pelt & Thurston Moore ( The Whys of Fire )." "For years and years (maybe about 17 or so), people have been pleading with Dan Ireton to record an album of his songs, as they are here, "mostly in one take". That has, almost unbelievably at this point, finally been taken care of. Not necessarily "new" or particuarly "weird", this is unquestionably (for lack of better terminology), "American". And when was the last time you could admit to that? In front of a crackling fire, it could perhaps sound good enough to melt into the floor, but even those illuminated by mere fluorescence will find pure captivation. Words, voice, guitar, culturally-informed emotional expression. Printed inner sleeve with lyrics, just like the old days. Great Kim Gordon cover." - FE.
Artist: X.O.4 Title: Cataracts Format: LP Label: Ecstatic Peace Country: USA Price: $13.00
"Debut vinyl release by the Western Massachusetts drone/scrape trio of Bill Nace, John Truscinski and Jake Meginsky. These guys have developed into one of the most soul-glowing sound/improv units out there today. And we mean out there – sparkling shards of guitar/amp/file machinations dance and intercede with rolling thundercloud dreamdrum dramatics. Nace you know from his killer duo throwdowns with Chris Corsano as Vampire Belt as well as the more recent weirdness with Dylan Nyoukis and Karen Lollypop as Ceylon Mange and in duo with Thurston Moore as Northampton Wools. Truscinski and Meginsky are the fine gentleman whove recorded as Slaughterhouse Percussion, Meginsky a student of and research assistant to Milford Graves at Bennington College. 500 copies." - Ecstatic Peace.
Artist: NEW BLOCKADERS/THURSTON MOORE/JIM OROURKE Title: The Voloptulist Format: LP Label: Ecstatic Peace Country: USA Price: $13.00
"Originally released as a limited CD by Hospital Productions in 2005. This is the equally limited LP version with variant artwork. TNB is arguably the most notorious and interesting proponent of ground zero UK noise/industrial history. A mysterious and oddly evocative practitioner of abstract noise purpose TNB has released some of the most consistently challenging recordings of the genre. What we have here is ORourke on one side and Moore on the other taking TNB "music" and collaborating with it in distinctly different ways: ORourke utilizing the free-life percussion power of Chris Corsano and Moore employing the spirit-index of shortwave. 500 Copies." - Ecstatic Peace.
Artist: ECSTATIC PEACE POETRY JOURNAL Title: #7 Format: Mag Label: Ecstatic Peace Country: USA Price: $11.00
"The long awaited Ecstatic Peace Poetry Journal #7, edited lovingly by Mr. Thurston Moore. Poems from Twig Harper, Byron Coley, Christina Carter, Chris Habib, Ira Cohen, Richard Hell/David Shapiro, Ira Cohen, Loren Connors, Joanna Yas, Noel Black, Alan Licht, Richard Meltzer, Dylan Nyoukis, David Keenan, Lee Ranaldo, Charles Plymell, Matthew Wascovich, Jeni Olin, Robert Opalio, Maurizio Opalio, Kyle Lapidus, Valerie Webber, Mike Watt, Angela Jaeger, Wooden Wand, Ian Nagoski, Richard Krech, Nick Henry, Jack Brewer and Mali Thep." - Ecstatic Peace.
Artist: SUNBURNED Title: Z Format: CD Label: Ecstatic Peace Country: USA Price: $10.00
"Following in the footsteps of My Morning Jacket, SUNBURNED HAND OF THE MAN are calling their forthcoming album Z. Main Man JOHN MOLONEY says the record is about infinity and the double dimension we all live in yet dont fully understand. Z is the sound of that feeling you get when you think youre being watched or followed by the omnipotent one. In keeping with the metaphysical theme, the albums five tracks are titled simply with different numbers of infinity symbols. And since it would have been in keeping with their neo-hippie aesthetic, we are bummed that Sunburned didnt title the album Infinity While High."-Pitchfork.
Artist: WATSON, DAVID Title: Throats Format: CD Label: Ecstatic Peace Country: USA Price: $10.00
"From 1981-86 DAVID WATSON was active in the New Zealand music and art scene, as a member of PRIMITIVE ARTS GROUP, appearing in the first New Zealand International Arts Fest, and co-founded Braille Records to record the local improv music scene (which released 12 LPs in the eighties). He released three LPs on Braille, and did much to create an improv/noise-music scene where previously there was none. In 1987 he moved to New York and has performed in clubs, new music and concert venues throughout New York, Europe, Australia, NZ and Japan since then. From 1988 to 1995 he played primarily guitar performances in New York with Ushio Torikai, Ikue Mori, Mark Ribot, Zeena Parkins, Kato Hideki, Cecil Taylor, William Hooker, Shelley Hirsch, Andrea Parkins plus many others at venues like CBGBs, Knitting Factory, the Cooler, as well as curating music series like Roulette, Experimental Intermedia, St. Marks Church, Greenwich House, Bang-on-a-Can, PS 1, and PS 122. He did a Japan tour with John Zorn, and members of the Boredoms, Merzbow, Ground Zero, Makigami Koichi, and others."- Ecstatic Peace.
Artist: KEFFER, LESLIE Title: Feels Like Frenching Format: LP Label: Ecstatic Peace Country: USA Price: $12.00
"When Leslie Keffer lived in Athens, Ohio she was asked about the noise scene there. Youre looking at it, she responded. Indeed. Leslie is one of the more fascinating proponents of homegrown Middle American noise music. A single girl drawn to the more ravaged and magical aspects of noise as source music, art and lifestyle. She has since moved to Nashville where she has been developing and progressing her personal take on what is basically a highly marginal genre of music. Leslies sound has been heard on various cassette labels (Rampart, Gameboy, I Just Live Here, Epicene, Cherried-out Merch) and most recently, her own imprint, Action Claw. She has issued a number of hand-made CDRs with her own touch of knitted fabric pouches. She has two tracks on the 2CD Tarantula Hill Benefit, one with Baltimores Nautical Almanac who have been championing Leslies work for years now. We are only too happy to release this premier full-length LP of Leslies demonstrating where shes been and where shes going." - Ecstatic Peace
Artist: SHIFLET, MIKE/16 BITCH PILE-UP Title: Extract, Behold/Make Like a Fetus and Abort Format: LP Label: Ecstatic Peace Country: USA Price: $12.50
Edition of 500. "Ohio has been rampant on the Ecstatic Peace play lists lately with the release of a long player earlier this year by Leslie Keffer and a forthcoming split LP by Emeralds and Tusco Terror. Like Keffer, whos moved to Nashville (to be closer to Be Your Own Pet), 16 Bitch Pile-Up and Mike Shiflet are both ex-pats of Ohio. 16 Bitch to California and Shiflet to some weird small town in Japan. Mike Shiflet weve known for years as he has produced some of the more interesting tapes and whatnot of Midwestern out-ness from his Gameboy label and from his legendary duo tour with Burning Star Core/C. Spencer Yeh of a few years back. Like the amazing beard he has sported since childhood, his music is a free-fall of acoustic wonder. He is also the cat responsible for turning on most of the world to the radical charms of three girls from Ohio wickedly named 16 Bitch Pile-Up. With a name like that you may have expected something just kinda funny but what made itself imminently obvious was that 16 Bitch was really and extremely into producing a wholly personal thrombosis of noise improvisation. Crystallized to the trio of Sarah Bernat, Sarah Cathers and Shannon Walter, this trio has become one of the most consistently exciting live experiences of the last five years. These recordings by both artists were done when both were still residents of Ohio and reflect that time and space right before each others exodus. They are raw and righteous and ready for you to take a bite." - Ecstatic Peace.
Artist: WOODEN WAND Title: James & the Quiet Format: CD Label: Ecstatic Peace Country: USA Price: $11.00
"The prolific JAMES JACKSON TOTH, working under the nom-detune WOODEN WAND has released some 20-plus albums over a handful of years. However, Toth considers James & The Quiet only the third proper Wooden Wand full length. While each release has explored a psychedelic-folk wonderland, this album is far and away one of the most concisely focused and downright catchy recordings in the WW oeuvre. Co-arranger and vocalist JESSICA TOTH may be the records secret weapon. While perhaps best known for her role as lead vocalist and occasional guitarist in Wooden Wand & the Vanishing Voice, on James and The Quiet she emerges as the perfect foil to Toths inimitable artistic voice. Together with LEE RANALDO, Jessica wrote and fine-tuned most of the albums exquisite harmony vocals and piano lines. Hoping to transcend genre tags, Toth, with more than a little help from his friends, has crafted a consistent and creative batch of songs that rewards repeat listens and continues to showcase his talent as a songwriter." -Ecstatic Peace.
Artist: MAGIK MARKERS Title: Boss Format: CD Label: Ecstatic Peace Country: USA Price: $11.00
"When confronted with an example of magnificence in nature, such as a waterfall, Jane Goodall reported that the chimpanzees she observed were captivated, as if in awe of the beauty of the world. On BOSS, the Magik Markers have tried to capture the chimps awe. A formality and restraint the Markers have never exerted on their previously recorded material is present on BOSS. Now the Markers are Jainists, with their mouths masked so as to not inhale even one tiny insect, here pursuing the killer gentle with a vengeance. Recorded in the cavernous dark of Echo Canyon West, with producer Lee Ranaldo working the boards like a diviner, BOSS documents the Markers with a previously unheard fidelity and orchestration. Idiosyncratic song structure and melodies interspersed with a destructive drum stomp are reminiscent of the early electrified blues of Junior Kimbrough, or the black hole rhythms of Kousokuya. Mixing a gentle vulnerability with a winded egomania, the Markers have always had a musical tunnel vision; BOSS is that vision made manifest. The tug of war the Markers enact, the way they are fully prepared to start yanking their world apart as they find themselves losing their place in, makes moot possibilities of greatness or mediocrity. It makes them unapologetic soothsayers with their ears pressed to the ground, waiting for footsteps. With Peter Nolan, we finally hear what Lou Reed would have sounded like had he sallied with the drums instead of getting seduced by the easy praise of front man status. Like Rashid Ali squeezed into the Teutonic leather pants of Faust, Nolan drums like there are hell hounds at his heels but he just cant be bothered. Here both laconic and frenzied, Nolans drumming arms reach out like an octopus: tickling the ivories, humming the organ and blasting taps on some kind of endtime trumpet. As a pianist, Nolan reminds us that the piano is a percussive, beating out the whoomp of some old war dance, a bare foot-fall rhythm of fighters to battle and the heavy hands of a whiskey burlesque in the afternoon. Nolan is easy to underestimate, but finally, here is high fidelity record of the strange soul of one of Americas most natural and quizzical musical minds." -Ecstatic Peace
Artist: AESTHETICS, THE Title: My Right To Riches Format: LP Label: Ecstatic Peace Country: USA Price: $15.00
"Crudes Matt Middleton has erupted from the shackles of noise to stomp the grounds of sonic punkdom. Following his forefathers in bands like the Pin Group, Hentchmen, and La De Das, Monsieur Middleton has carved a new sound." - Ecstatic Peace
Artist: MOORE, GEORGE Title: Plastic Flowers Format: LP Label: Ecstatic Peace Country: USA Price: $13.00
"George Moore lives in Connecticut. He is the 20 year old son of Ecstatic Peace recording artist Gene Moore. Regardless of these obvious bloodline connections George Moores musical world should, would and could easily creep into the living underground on its own mystic merits. He recorded these instrumental pieces at some point in early 2001 and issued them privately in an edition smaller than Albinis dick. The music therein is an amalgamation of spurious signals wholly independent though readings and mis-readings of John Fahey, Whitehouse and Jackie-O Motherfucker are in probable detection. The basement aura of this session will appeal to anyone even slightly aroused by the aforementioned troika. Ecstatic Peace will continue to release artifacts from the Moore boys and their Connecticut Nutmeg State of Mind environmental joob." - Ecstatic Peace.
Artist: SIGHTINGS Title: Through The Panama Format: LP Label: Ecstatic Peace Country: USA Price: $16.00
"Bass, drum and guitars meshed together with a synthetic twine envisioned in future think tanks. Literally the sound of human progress darkened with a profound fidelity so loud the dark matter of the universe quivers in a deadly orgasm. Guitar, bass and drums reconfigured for a new purpose. This is the bands sixth album and takes the notch so much higher than previous efforts in terms of songwriting and production. With Andrew W.K. as a producer, some of the caustic curtains that swathed past albums have been parted to reveal a coldly pulsing artificial heart. And the beat of this heart sounds off in an alien tongue of bass and drums. Guitars descend like unforgiving sheets of napalm from the smoldering skyline. Songs pop out of this miasma that tick off icy coolness with piano and vocal stylings. Indeed, hot and cool. To accentuate the difference this album has versus previous Sightings records, a Scott Walker cover is included. This is a rock album, but a rock for times coming, a sound of future days. Break the chains from the days of past, listen to Sightings and evolve. Limited edition beautiful high gloss gatefold LP." - Load.

Artist: OSCILLATOR Title: Hollywood Groupies Rule Format: Cass Label: Ecstatic Peace Country: USA Price: $9.00

Ben playing “light driven oscillator” and Brian “mechanically driven electronics”. Recorded at The Smell in downtown Hell A to a blasted audience of noise star loving mamas. Incredible duo splurge of shared shard exploration. | Artist: TREETOPS Title: Treetops Format: Cass Label: Ecstatic Peace Country: USA Price: $9.00 |
"TREETOPS is Mike Pollard, young experimental musician out of Western Springs, Illinois. Mike also runs the amazing Arbor label. Focusing on the more marginal drone and noise musics of the planet Earth, Arbor has graced us with killer cassettes by Evan Miller, Gown, Cygnus, Bark Haze and his own Treetops project. Hes also banged out some vinyl by Warmth, Black Monk, Yellow Swans, and Robedoor. All class acts. Weve been digging on Treetops droning Midwest kosmiche moves on a number of past releases on great underground labels like Zeik Zak, jk tapes, Not Not Fun, DNT, Gilgongo/C-salt and Blackest Rainbow. So its with a happy heart and slippery soul that we issue this lovely jammer. Cover art by Coco. Limited Edition of 100" - Ecstatic Peace.

Artist: ISLAJA Title: Blaze Mountain Recordings Format: CD Label: Ecstatic Peace Country: USA Price: $11.00
"Islaja is Merja Kokkonen, a visual artist and musician from Helsinki, Finland. Shes been releasing records on Finnish label Fonal since 2004. The first one, Meritie, introduced her lovely sense of musical wonder to the world and garnered excited praise from the more astute ears at The Wire (UK) and Dusted Magazine (USA). The 2nd release Palaa Aurinkoon was equally boss and brought Islaja to North America with compatriot Finnish folk experimentalists Lau Nau and Kuupuu where she mesmerized audiences with a captivating minimalism of sweet singing and small toy and hand-made instruments played by herself and companion Jukka Raisanen. In 2007, she released her third album Ulual Yyy which expanded her sound into further psychedelic paths. Since then Islaja has played numerous large festivals including Eurosonic, Sonar and the 2006 All Tomorrows Parties/Nightmare Before Christmas curated by Thurston Moore. Animal Collective invited Islaja to play a two week support tour with them in Europe. Blaze Mountain Recordings is a live document, all music and words by Merja and played by Merja and Jukka. Its the perfect portal to enter the living world of Islajas music/art spirit with a unity of traditional Finnish forest mystery and a radical song universe." -Ecstatic Peace
Artist: POOR SCHOOL Title: The Holy Master Format: LP Label: Ecstatic Peace Country: USA Price: $12.00
"POOR SCHOOL started in April 2005 with Bryan Ramirez (gtr), John Niekrasz (drms) and Nathan Hoyme (sax). We first caught wind of this sick noise/jazz/postpunk rock trio when John Olson brought Ramirez other combo Ex-Cocaine (who have a sick new LP on Siltbreeze out NOW) to the No Fun basement a few years back and Ramirez laid some POOR SCHOOL cdr action on us. Needless to say we were buh-lown away by the manic improv hepness and immediately emailed the dude to see if we could slam some POOR SCHOOL magic onto black plastik. And unto Ecstatic Peace was delivered The Holy Master. Ramirez and Olson go waay back when the two of them jammed together in the nascent Michigan underground psychedelic troupe Universal Indians. Ramirez took off to Missoula, Montana to investigate micro-brews and mountain air and help put together the awesome Ex-Cocaine. Hes still there. Niekrasz went to get high on life in India but is expected back sooner than later. Upon his return we can hopefully expect POOR SCHOOL to shed new love and light and chaos for the future."-Ecstatic Peace
Artist: NYOUKIS & JAAP BLONK, DYLAN Title: Dubbletwee Format: LP Label: Ecstatic Peace Country: USA Price: $14.00
"Here is one of the most anticipated head-scratching meeting-of-the (insane) minds recordings ever rumored to have existed: the blabber-gunk vocalistix of Chocolate Monk honcho and musical zone/zap improv outsider and founder of Decaer Pinga (née Prick Decay) Dylan Nyoukis and the high-energy, consistently startled and startling voicebox-tongue shredder, Jaap Blonk. Nyoukis from the UK and Blonk from The Netherlands bash heads and gums together to splat out a relentless and rapacious slew of ululation and indescribable utterance. If vocal duo improv of the most bizarre order is yr meat, then pull a stool up to this table and get a snoot full o what-the-fuck. Wicked weirdness." LP only -- full color jackets -- 400 copies."- Ecstatic Peace
Artist: RELIGIOUS KNIVES Title: The Door Format: CD Label: Ecstatic Peace Country: USA Price: $11.00
""Maya Miller and Michael Bernstein met in New York a decade ago, and began making music together as half of strum und drone quartet Double Leopards a few years after that. Religious Knives came later still, away from the road and the rehearsal space, borne and nurtured in cramped apartments throughout Kings County. Beginning in 2005, the pair released a string of CD-Rs and cassettes, both on their own Heavy Tapes imprint and through the labels of kindred spirits. Steadily moving away from the psychedelic tone baths and modern industrial scrape for which the Leopards had become known, Religious Knives coursed through minimal synth oscillations and spare Kraut repetition. Mouthus Nate Nelson joined the pair in 2006, lending a powerful presence behind the drums that shaped Religious Knives rudimentary jams into rough-hewn, long-form paeans to tar-blackened bummer psych. Soon after that, old friend Todd Cavallo completed the quartet on bass, adding a sturdy low-end and dubwise groove that lifted Religious Knives from cellar murk to black cloud puffs of bone-deep alarm. An active four-piece for a little more than a year now, Religious Knives have presided over a pair of 12"s, a couple of collections of out of print singles and long gone burns, and one full-length. All throughout, these four have traced a path away from the clamor they once knew, bathing slight guitars, interlocking vocals, and solemn bass lines in reedy organs and recalcitrant modular synths. The seemingly tin-eared would call it noise, but in these eight hands, such a set plays as anything but, instead a (cough) syrupy stroll in search of the ghosts of rocks classicist past. With The Door, Religious Knives have not only found those bygone days, but broken them apart. There are bookmarks to be found here, pages creased in well-worn chapters. But make no mistake -- theirs is a sound tied to the here and now, a summer record for those dread days when the heat holds low and skin sticks to cheap car seats and old patio furniture. These six songs are brighter, sharper than anything that has come before, locking in tight on jugular rhythms. Its the score for disappearing neighborhoods and crumbling buildings, a hope of holding onto the past as those around us move fast to forget it. It is scent as sound, the stench of smog and sickly smoke spiraling towards the sky. It is Brooklyn, July of 2008. The sun has left us in the East, disappearing somewhere behind Jersey, leaving our borough to find the pulse of another night deep with the citys streets." -Ecstatic Peace
Artist: MOUTHUS Title: Divisionals Format: LP Label: Ecstatic Peace Country: USA Price: $14.00
"After releasing the first Mouthus LP years back, Ecstatic Peace returns to unleash another beast by this always amazing duo. Brian Sullivan (gtr/vox) and Nate Nelson (perc) connect here with a focused, thematic hayride through long tone static and fried mind amp terror. Anyone following the arc and molten flow of Mouthus last few LPs and CDs (on Our Mouth, Troubleman Unlimited, Olde English Spelling Bee, Music Fellowship, Important, Three Lobed, Weird Forest and the exemplary Saw A Halo on Load) will be surely intrigued by Divisionals as it is Mouthus at their sweetest. Almost. Just when youre drifting through the electric skies you find the Earth reaching into your soul pulling you back to a primordial foreverness. A charming action." -Ecstatic Peace
Artist: MENSTRUATION SISTERS Title: Samantha (My Wack Panther) Format: LP Label: Ecstatic Peace Country: USA Price: $14.00
"Unlike anything book or animal, the Menstruation Sisters destroy wholly" -- Thurston Moore, Sonic Youth. "Menstruation Sisters hail from Sydney, Australia. Basically a duo comprised of wildboy poet ululationist and guitar strangler Nick Kamiussis (aka Rizili aka Riz) and OZ wonderkid Oren Ambarchi (Sunn 0))), Burial Chamber, Grave Temple, John Zorn etc etc), and sometimes aided by Brendan Walls and others. Their first LP, Ma, was in an edition of 100 copies, all of which had razor blades, balloons and hypodermic needles applied to one side. As an objet dart it became a highly desirable item for noise believers (and was recently reissued -- sans appliques -- by No Fun Productions). Every once in a while an LP drops out of nowhere only to further confuse whomever is fortunate enough to grip it. 2005 saw the Holy Africa 7" on White Denim, in 2001 the infamous Goog LP on Saucerlike, in 1999 the Dead At Slugs LP on Menlo Park and in 1998 the Triple Bogey On A Ma Par Hole 3x7". All of these are essential documents of one of the most bizarre, genuinely inspired free time outfits working the avant-mind body love/noise worship axis today. This newest LP has been patiently waiting to be released for the last few years, initially a multi-label project instigated by Menlo Park and now fully realized by Ecstatic Peace. Long a champion of Menstruation Sisters after witnessing an out-of-nowhere set at NYCs legendary lost underground experimental oasis The Cooler in the late 90s, Thurston Moore invited the Sisters to open for Sonic Youth in Sydney shortly thereafter and, as inspired and weird as the NYC set was, the Sonic Youth gig was perhaps one of the most astounding question marks of music the seasoned Moore had ever experienced. So we present you Samantha (My Wack Panther) -- a new and beautiful peek into the edge of musical menstruation." -Ecstatic Peace
Artist: RAMIREZ & MSBR, RICHARD Title: Negative/Offensive Format: LP Label: Ecstatic Peace Country: USA Price: $14.00
"A project in celebration of the work and influence of mysterious UK (anti) artist noise outfit The New Blockaders as constructed by Houston, Texas black whips and male-on-male noise pioneer Richard Ramirez (Black Leather Jesus et al) and the sadly departed Japanese harsh noise maestro Koji Tano (MSBR). A mail collaboration where each artist would send source materials to be decomposed by each other. Fantastic walls of brutal shard skum splatter taken to points of demented anguish and resultant cosmic implosion/explosion. Exquisite cover art by Stan Reed of Blue Sabbath Black Cheer." -Ecstatic Peace
Artist: MUTANT APE Title: Erotic Yorkshire Format: LP Label: Ecstatic Peace Country: USA Price: $14.00
"Mutant Ape is the insane noise project by Yorkshire, UK resident George Proctor. George runs the Turgid Animal label, which since 2005 has been the go-to place for harsh noise, power electronics and other demented spuzz releasing over 500 CDs, CDRs, cassettes, LPs, 10"s, 7"s etc. He has been releasing Mutant Ape sounds wherever and whenever, establishing his classic yet contemporary noise/horror vision of lust and spectacle as one of the premier scum artists of the last decade. Erotic Yorkshire is Mutant Ape at its most corrosive delivering from track to track occult ambience to skin shredding power drug electronics. All bookended by the demented and misogynist rants of Jamie Gillis. Artwork by the fractured mind of Tisbor. Disgust, depression, defilement and demotion are all here for those of you who demand only the best in carnal crud." -Ecstatic Peace
Artist: KREFTING, MATT Title: I Couldnt Love You More Format: CD Label: Ecstatic Peace Country: USA Price: $11.00
"My career in music is about to enter its 13th year. Lucky 13! Ive performed in at least 15 groups (probably more on the order of 20 if you count guest spots) over the years, the most prominent being the long-running quiet music combo Son of Earth and the short-lived-but-muchhyped Believers. Historically more of an experimental man, the Believers project showcased my always right-below-the-surface interest and passion for all things rock, and so, a couple of years after the demise of that group, I was approached by Ecstatic Peace, who asked me to produce a solo record. For the better part of a year I conceptualized, recruited, and eventually came up with I Couldnt Love You More. An early attempt to marry electronics, field recordings, and song was scrapped in favor of the personal and perhaps obvious choice of producing a covers record. It was the perfect idea, the realization of a dream. Years of singing in the shower and on long car trips had given way to the stuff of fantasy. Why stick to what you know when you can reach for what youve always desired? I asked friends to help with the realization. John Moloney, Phil Franklin, Ron Schneiderman, and Rob Thomas (all of Sunburned Hand of the Man), Ive known for years. Same with J Mascis. Old friends John Shaw (who Ive done more music with than anyone) and Lynn Meyers provide some vocals here and there, as does my wife, Jamie Jo Oltmans. The Wild Card here is John Townsend. Andrew Kesin of Ecstatic Peace introduced me to him, and he was a jack-of-all-trades. He plays on most of the tracks, sometimes exclusively, and co-produced. I chose songs from all over the map, from Rick Danko to John Martyn to the great Bill Fay. Not exactly lightweights, and quite intimidating when their full historical weight is taken into account. However, I attacked each piece with the intensity of one who truly loves these songs. I didnt concern myself with being overly arty or inventive in my interpretations (there are no truly radical re-workings of anything here), instead allowing my own emotional investment in the material to guide me and inform the other players. These are songs of love and longing. The themes are eternal. Its an honor to have had the chance to play them. Enjoy the music." -- Matt Krefting, December 2008
Artist: LITTLE CLAW Title: Human Taste Format: CD Label: Ecstatic Peace Country: USA Price: $11.00
"Little Claw was born in Detroit, Michigan during the Great Eastern Seaboard blackout of 2003. Having nothing to do, nowhere to go, Heath Heemsbergen and Kilynn Lunsford began playing their acoustic guitars and singing into the darkness. An auspicious beginning to be sure. Even now, Little Claw are still strumming and screaming into the void. Formed originally with Jamie Easter from the Piranhas on drums, the band played a string of shows, starting with their debut performance with legendary Ohio art-punks the Bizarros, which then led to the recording of the first Little Claw LP with Warn Defever (His Name Is Alive) The album was released by Ypsilanti records in 2005. Jamie left the band in the summer of 2005 and after one show as a duo, Hendrik Deherder joined up on the drums. A second LP was recorded with Matthew Smith (Outrageous Cherry) in his Hamtramck living room mid-2006 and was subsequently released by Thurston Moores Ecstatic Peace label in 2007. Later that year, there was a release of a split 7" single with Michael Yonkers on X! records. Little Claws move from the urban nightmare of Detroit to the more subtle cloudy terrors of Portland, Oregon prompted some more augmentations to the line-up: Adam Svenson (of Seattle improv band Du Hexen Hase) took over the caveman beat on the drums, freeing up Henrik to bang the synth and add additional percussion. On the road and on recordings, the Little Claw sound is graced by the touch of Toledo native, Damon Sturdivant (Puffy Areolas, Tyvek) on additional percussion and synth." "But what do they sound like anyway? They sounded like the greatest godammned fucking band on the planet the time we saw em. Two minimalist drummers, a guitar dude with a nice underhook rhythm rip and a girl with a badass no wave slather tongue tearing hell out of her slide guitar given half the chance. And not all hellbent rage either -- some nice licorice melt drizzle crud groove too. Fuckin awesome." -Thurston Moore

Mario Dane mixed the album at Skyscraper Music Maker in Manhattan, NYC. Only 750 copies of the LP will be pressed." -Ecstatic Peace |
Artist: LUBELSKI, SAMARA Title: Future Slip Format: LP Label: Ecstatic Peace Country: USA Price: $15.00
"LP version with glossy insert. Samara Lubelskis 5th solo LP Future Slip serves up a gorgeous and friendly collection of bittersweet melodies, sinister basslines, gestural Polaroid lyrics, and spot-on drumming garnished with sprigs of fuzz, paired with a guitar Riesling. It is a record of knowledge and innocence, of truth and fairytale, of wonder and clarity. Envision France Gall performing the songs of Sterling Morrison and Mo Tucker with Ralph Molina on drums. The show is at a loft across Bowery from CBGBs and the only person in the audience at soundcheck is Jandek, cross-legged in the middle of the floor. Produced by Thurston Moore. And here is the result: Future Slip is a worldly record, a record which offers a taste of the new dimension but warns of guru bummers. To a sunny day it adds the shadows which allow the perception of depth. On a rainy day it offers a selection of cakes. Anyone who does not dig this record deserves our pity, as they know nothing about the joy or sadness of life." -Ecstatic Peace
Artist: HUSH HARBORS Title: Yankee Reality Format: CD Label: Ecstatic Peace Country: USA Price: $11.00
"Yankee Reality. What does it mean? Does it portend that there is some unique, other plain of existence for northerners and/or city folk? Something perhaps alien to, well, everybody else? Virginia cum citizen of London/rambling man Keith Wood knows all about it. Several years ago, he relocated to the city of crumpets and tea, where he, among other things, secured a gig playing guitar for notoriously intense death folk legends Current 93. In the midst of all this excitement, he has managed to write and record a brand new Hush Arbors album, his second for Ecstatic Peace!, and its his finest to date. With a full band in tow -- multi instrumentalist Leon Dufficy, bassist Jason Ajemian, and drummer Ryan Sawyer -- and none other than J Mascis in the producers chair, Yankee Reality continues Woods winning streak while introducing an embarrassment of riches in the way of surprises and curveballs along the way. Yankee Reality is a credit to Keith Woods vast talents as a songwriter and performer, but also, stands as a shining example of his breadth of focus and versatility. How many fools out there love Merle Haggard, The Dead and Dinosaur, Jr equally? I know one." - James Jackson Toth, Nashville, TN, August 2009
Artist: MV & EE Title: Barn Nova Format: CD Label: Ecstatic Peace Country: USA Price: $11.00
"Still harvesting and sustaining in the deep woods of Vermont , MV & EE (Matt MV Valentine, once the brawn of the Tower Recordings, and Erika EE Elder, CEO of Heroine Celestial Agriculture and The MV & EE Medicine Show) are following their 2008 release Drone Trailer with their feature-film-for-the-blind Barn Nova, which marks their return to the Ecstatic Peace! label. MV & EE aspire to the sort of beautifully rewarding standard in their documented output that Sun Ra or The Grateful Dead achieved. It is with Ecstatic Peace! that their most consistent works have been born and continue reach fans with The Golden Road, their most constant band. Together with Doc Dunn (pedal steel, rhythm guitar, vocals, drums) and Mike Smith (Rickenbacker 4001, vocals), who appeared on Drone Trailer, as well as J Mascis (drums, guitar, plate reverb) and Woods Jeremy Earl (vocal, drums) they take you on the ride now known as Barn Nova and here they jam. Justin Pizzoferrato also appears contributing percussion, space echo and aiding once again at the controls. This album was recorded at MV & EEs own home studio Maximum Arousal Farm as well as their current local New England rooms of choice, Bank Row (an old mid 1900s bank) and Js home studio Bisquiteen. These kindred spirits share a wealth of ideas including a serious reverence and desire to upgrade/expand the classic-rock idiom. Barn Nova marks the return of Spectrasound, MVs production technique that places tones dancing all around the stereo sound field: it has to be heard to be believed. This effect is all the more impressive that the majority of it was created recording live, rather than conjured through studio post-production during mixing. Especially potent on the A side-ending stomp Summer Magic, where Erikas economical leads go head-to-head with Js on a particularly mind-blowing live-in-studio effort; It brings to mind the vibe of Green Blues, Mother Of Thousands and even an electric Moon Jook with matured songwriting. Inspired by the likes of Jerry Garcia, John Cipollina and Tom Verlaine, Matt Valentine displays an insatiable appetite to play in various idioms with constant exploration and development. Meanwhile, Elders harmony leads recall the glorious twinned guitar lines of Canned Heats Al Wilson & Henry Vestine at their most potent." -Ecstatic Peace

"A is Sunburneds second album with producer Kieran Hebden, a.k.a. Four Tet. Directed by Kieran like actors in a film, Sunburned is taken off the bandana smokestage of their previous collaboration -- Fire Escape -- and put onto a sweat-soaked 4am lysergic dance floor. Kieran uses the band like his live instrument laptop and sampler. The results are truly stunning which makes this record into one of the best moments of each artists respective musical careers. With artwork by California visionary and band favorite Raymond Pettibon, A has looks that kill along with the sounds that thrill. Includes double-sided poster of Pettibon artwork." - Ecstatic Peace.

Artist: CLARINETTE Title: Haze Format: LP Label: Ecstatic Yod Country: USA Price: $12.00
"Regardez-vous the debut recording by Clarinette, a solo project that has flowed from the brain of well-known archivist, Daniel "Dan" Vallor. Utilizing such instruments as guitar, swinehorn and kuck, Mr. Vallor has created a world of scrambled-diz miniatures of disarming variety. Played w/ tiny robot fingers, lacerated by stumps of home-studio fuckery, the five pieces here are as potently frenched a selection of man-handled string readymades as any record collector has ever waxed."
Artist: GOWN Title: Sacred Mountain Format: LP Label: Ecstatic Yod Country: USA Price: $13.50
"We used to carry a whole line of “Gown Is a Band” buttons and hoodies, but we discontinued them, because they were a lie. In truth, Gown is a person. Gown is from the islands of British Columbia Canada, and spent an entire year living on one such island alone, apart from his dog and three or more goats. If rock-qua-rock and/or its sub-forms are based on blues epistemology, then Sacred Mountains is rooted in the vernacular of sea shanties, sea creatures and sea salt in general. The music swirls and eddies as water does when trapped in a cove, just before rejoining the ocean-propers massive swells and crashing onto a buncha rocks. And I guess the music is like that rejoining, too. A process such as this is a journey and far from perfect, but the missteps sparkle and gleam like the random beauty that surrounds us. The LP was recorded over the course of a month in Florence, Mass, following a two month tour across the USA, playing in a duo with Christina Carter. Gown and Christina also contributed a side the My Cat Is An Alien split LP/CD series and have a CD out on Digitalis Industries. This LP is limited to 500, all with hand painted original covers." - Yod.
Artist: PICKS & LIGHTERS Title: S/T Format: CD Label: Ecstatic Yod Country: USA Price: $12.00
"Picks & Lighters were a Knoxville, TN combo who come to us straight out of 1999. Because of fates vagaries, their time is gone. Everyone missed and ignored the boat they offered us, and we were all left floating, lonely, in a sea of our own shit. Until now. We truly dont understand how this one got by us upon its initial release, but it did. Picks & Lighters even released a beautiful vinyl record to make sure we wax lovers gave them a chance, no dice though. Their cries of creation fell upon deaf ears; for a good while, anyway. Now, here we are in the year 2006, and there is finally enough time of give some love to the Picks & Lighters crew. So heres a re-release -- with proper jewel case packaging -- of their genius S/T CD from 1999. Their music ombines all sorts of parts including (but not exclusive to) Royal Trux, universal Siltbreeze sounds, Rolling Stones feedback loops, American Primitive volk guitar, Boogie Rock, lo fi form-scrumble, etc. It s a motherfuckin shame this went unnoticed in 1999, but maybe now we can right some wrongs, change the world, and float a boat or two. Cause you know what Thurston Howell says – theres always room for another yacht. Hopefully, well eventually have the wherewithal to issue some of their related material, both that of an archival nature, and that which the remnants of Picks & Lighters now create under the name, Newport. Because it all sounds fucking great. And you really oughta know it." - Yod.

"Head of Wantastiquet is the solo project of Sunburned Hand of the Man"s Paul Labrecque. This is the long awaited follow-up to Paul"s debut cassette release on Open Mouth. This LP is luscious and layered with psych banjo based pieces spread over 12 tracks. I"d compare it to a cross between Daniel Higgs and Doc Boggs sans vocals. A truly beautiful record which comes in a VG Kids screenprinted double sided sleeve sleeve in a one time edition of 500." - Ecstatic Yod

Artist: BOHMLER, CLAUS Title: Materialien Zur Postmoderne In Bild Und Ton Format: LP Label: Edition Block Country: Germany Price: $36.00
"Claus Bohmler works with the media. Since they seem to function so well, he takes them apart, examines them, and then, perhaps, assembles them anew. This process doesnt create chic elements for the living rooms of the communication-theorists, the sociologists, or the simulation-apocalyptic, but rather the same sort of rudimentary raw material as found in notebooks, drawings, miniture cameras, radios, photostats, and cassettes. Its these poor media that open eyes and ears. Not bound to a cultural-bureaucratic administrative machinery, they atand their ground by presenting an opulence of idea-productions that fragmentate, ferment, combine, and experiment, because according to Bohmler, every substance is good for thinking" - K. Gallwitz. "Especially language materializes, for to Bohmler it is not only commentary, but also a starting point, composition, confusion, and instruction at the same time. Imagine a rhinoceros as a gramophone. With the apt title Materialien zur Postmoderne in Bild und Ton, Bohmlers record for this device present a complex, compact matter. Side A composes three movements with magnetic tape. The concatenation of tapped, blown, plucked, and played sound produces a changing atomosphere and, as with any series of fragments, could go on sounding forever. The enclosed score of this Muzak for progressive idyllists, housewives, and cardrivers - all of whom are not annoyed by sporting airplanes - was written during the recording of the white colored record; its coverdesign mixpickles Stockhausen, Rams, typewritter-esthetic, and fashion. The other side of the record includes a speech by Bohmler about the new German design ("die kombi-nation steht Kopf!") By acoustic revision, the sequence of the recitation is made brittle, pointed, and - again through arrangement of simple elements - the message is decomposed and multilayered. Bohmler, who designs media-furniture, is a polygot: he speaks and write music for all. His living room lecture. Cover: two-color print of a drawing by Claus Bohmler. 30cm, 45RPM, Edition Block, Berlin, No. EB 120. White record, score included." - Broken Music. Featuring Holger Hiller. Original copies from 1986. Highly Recommended!
Artist: DIE TODLICHE DORIS Title: Gehörlose Musik Format: DVD Label: Edition Krothenhayn Country: Germany Price: $60.00
"During the years 1980-87, German trio Die Tödliche Doris was absolutely legendary in the Berlin underground music and art scene. Embodying the pure, obscure spirit of "neue deutsche welle," their releases and live shows revealed a raw post-punk sensibility with performance art. Die Todliche Doris are still widely considered one of the most radical, intelligent and influential German avantgarde bands of the last two decades. Now this DVD brings the music of the legendary, long unavailable LP Gehörlose Musik from 1981 back to life -- in the guise of gestures, signs, interaction and movement. Each DVD is hand-numbered and available only in a limited edition of 1,000 -- once gone, will be gone forever. In November 1998, Wolfgang Müller, founder of Die Tödliche Doris, decided to re-release the bands sought-after and long unavailable first vinyl LP. However, not as sound, but as a gesture: sign language interpreters Dina Tabbert and Andrea Schulz translated and reshaped the lyrics and music of the album using nothing but signs and gestures. The result of this transmutation is a "soundless" music, expressed entirely within and through the body. Many hearing-impaired people -- and an equal amount of those who could hear just fine -- made their way to the Prater at the Berliner Volksbühne to witness this process as part of a series of events called Gehörlose Musik (music for the deaf or "soundless music"), initiated by "Freunde guter Musik" (friends of good music). And the result is no dance, no performance, no music -- it constitutes a new form of art defying conventional definition. The DVD can be played in sign language option, or music option and also contains an interview with Wolfgang Müller as well as a 24-page booklet with writing and photographs. Comes encased in a slip-lid box with banderole. Format: DVD 5; Language: German; Subtitle: German/English; Format: NTSC, 4:3, Region: 0; Time: ca. 60 min. Booklet: 48 pages, German/English."
Artist: NITSCH, HERMANN Title: The Action Art of Hermann Nitsch from Past to Present Format: DVD/CD Label: Edition Krothenhayn Country: Germany Price: $105.00
"Super deluxe DVD & CD set. The Action art of Hermann Nitsch from past to present Actions, 1962-2003 (1 DVD; this DVD is in European PAL format only and not compatible with some/many DVD players in the US) plus a CD with the recordings from the 2005 Burgtheater performance. Hand-numbered edition of 1000 copies. The packaging consists of a slip lid box with banderole, containing an 80-page book with photos and text. Disputed and celebrated: Hermann Nitsch, Actionist and painter, composer and stage designer. He is one of the most renowned Austrian artists of today and nevertheless still divides the art world as before. Nitsch belongs beside Günter Brus, Otto Mühl and Rudolf Schwarzkogler as one of the most important main actors of Viennese Actionism. At the beginning of the 60s he carried out his first "Actions" in Vienna, which involved several trials and three terms of imprisonment. His main work, "Orgy Mystery Theatre," the bloody, sacrilegious meat-play inspired by Greek mythology, Antonin Artaud and Sigmund Freud, was the defining work of his career, and has established and influenced Actionist performance representations in contemporary art ever since. On this DVD there is a 4-hour overview of all of Nitschs "Actions" from 1962-2003, as well as an interview from 2005. The 80-page book (German/English) which includes text by Florian Schreiner and numerous photos, explains the theoretical basis of Nitschs work. On the CD are recordings of the 122nd "Action" at the Burgtheater of Vienna in November of 2005. Package: box/book, 80 pages/DVD/CD; Edition: Limited to 1000 copies, hand-numbered; Content: main feature + interview; Running-time: approx. 4 hours; Audio-Language: German; Subtitles: German/English/French; Format: PAL, 4:3, color; Audio-Format: Stereo (MP2/AC3); Region: 0 (all regions)." - Edition Krothenhayn.
Artist: MINAMI, HIROAKI Title: Obscure Tape Music of Japan Vol. 10 Format: CD Label: Edition Omega Point Country: Japan Price: $27.00
"...Electronic Symphony No. 1. Little-known composer Hiroaki Minami was a professor of electronic music at the Tokyo National University of Fine Arts & Music and is a pioneer of synthesizer music in Japan. He built a private studio for his self-made synthesizer in his home in 1976, and shortly thereafter, he composed this piece, Electronic Symphony No. 1, filled with spacey and very noisy analog synthesizer sounds, much like Roland Kayns 60s concrète works. Contains liner notes by the artist in Japanese and English; housed in a limited-edition specially-designed cardboard paper sleeve." -Editions Omega Point "The artist himself: "At the age of 15, having more of an interest in technology than music, I began to build radio sets and vacuum tube amplifiers. In the next 20 years, electronics advanced into the realm of transistors and integrated circuits, creating a huge potential for the use of the synthesizer for musical applications. In the 70s as knowledge about experiments in transistors, integrated circuit oscillators, and filter technology became available in electronic technology magazines, I attempted IC even though I only had vacuum tubes to complete an analog synthesizer, and I also purchased 2-channel and 4-channel tape recorders. I was finally equipped with the necessary equipment to create electronic music when tragedy struck my family: my 8 year-old daughter died from liver disease. It compelled me to compose the fifth movement Sorrow Song The Stars Sang of the Electronic Symphony No.1 as the requiem for my daughter. The piece, created from my own analog synthesizer, was distributed throughout the world as an individual work, and only later did I compose the rest of the movements in order to complete Symphony No. 1." -from the liner notes

Artist: PRURIENT Title: Arrowhead Format: CD Label: Editions Mego Country: Austria Price: $17.00
"Brooklyn noise herald and Hospital Productions label-head, Dominick Fernow presents his first release for the Editions Mego label. Fernow has been an active instigator in the power electronics and noise genre for well over a decade, with 100+ releases issued so far, usually limited and covering all known formats. Known in particular for his harrowing live performances where he uses his voice, amps, microphones, coins, tools, suitcases etc., to create a brain-bashing journey through mangled, negative sound. In this spirit, Arrowhead is comprised of three ear-splitting tracks of high-end quality feedback, disturbed vocals and twisted percussion. While previewing this work for release on a flight from Milan to Vienna, it came to the attention of the listener that an irritated passenger two rows in front complained of high-pitched whistling in the air conditioning. Such is the power of Arrowhead. Recorded in the winter of 2004 in Providence, RI. Finalized in the winter of 2005 in New York City. Guest musician: Kris Lapke." - Editions Mego
Artist: SUZUKI, HARUYUKI Title: Experimental Music of Japan Vol. 2: Electronic Works Vol. 1 Format: CD Label: Editions Omega Point Country: Japan Price: $25.00
"This is the second release in Edition Omega Points Experimental Music of Japan series, featuring the work of Tokyo composer Haruyuki Suzuki (b. 1962). This CD includes four of Suzukis electronic works -- the oldest piece, "Concret II," was composed in 1985, and is an experiment in sound and noise. The triptych "Go And Back" series composed in 1996, are like versions of the same screenprinting, but made in different colors. While the MIDI data that comprises the structure of the pieces is the same, the varying sound materials used to augment the versions are different. Influenced by Luc Ferrari, Suzuki began composing electronic music using CD-J players in 2005, and "Circuit II," composed in 2006, uses two CD-J players. "Bustling For Luc," composed in 2007 was also inspired by Ferrari, and heavily influenced by the work of American experimental musicians, most particularly James Tenney. The only sounds used here are systematically transformed tidbits of environmental sound recordings of the busy quarters of Tokyo. Haruyuki Suzuki is a mostly self-taught composer. He helped establish the composers group Tempus Novum in 1991, along with, among others, Hiroyuki Yamamoto, Yoshifumi Tanaka and Hiroshi Yokoshima. He has collaborated with visual and film artists, and has organized lectures and concerts by James Tenney (2001) and Luc Ferrari (2002/2003). Housed in a specially-designed cardboard paper gatefold sleeve, with newly-written liner notes in Japanese & English by Haruyuki Suzuki himself. Limited edition of 300 copies." -Editions Omega Point
Artist: SUZUKI, AKIO Title: Na-Gi 1997 Format: CD Label: Editions RZ Country: Germany Price: $21.00
"A CD of minimalist environmental sounds by this Japanese sound-artist, previously known for his fabulous Soundsphere CD on the Dutch Het Apollohuis label." - FE. "This music was recorded in Takano, Tango-cho, the northern-most coast of Kyoto, where I live. The bay surrounded by volcanic rock caves is the place where the mighty sounds of waves of the open sea have their muffled echo. Seawater flows into the hollows in the rock again and again like breathing in and breathing out. Spring water constantly drips in the cave, and now and then the wind from the meadow above the chasm brings the sounds of the crickets...the sound spaces of the coast of Takano. A site of a new encounter with the rhythm of the sounds of the sea." - Editions RZ.
Artist: ASHTRAY NAVIGATIONS, FAMILY BATTLE SNAKE & STELLAR OM SOURCE Title: How Do Siamese Twins Arrange Their Love Lives? Format: LP Label: Editions Zero Country: Greece Price: $20.00
Recorded in Leeds, 2008. Edition of 300.
Artist: NMPERIGN/SKELETONS OUT Title: Live 1978/Marvin Format: 7" Label: Editions Zero Country: Greece Price: $6.50
"A rather nicely lo-fi packed 7" of two of the more intelligent noise projects around. On side A Greg Kelley and Bhob Rainey, otherwise known as Nmperign team up for one of their great pieces of improvised wind instrument mayhems. Mayhem as in silence meeting noise, but not the usual noise you may expect from someone like Merzbow. The controlled blowing of the two make a great fine interplay. The instruments as instrument and as objects. A fine piece. Skeletons Out are more a noise rock piece band, or so it seems. Howard Stelzer on cassettes and Jay Sullivan on turntable create a more straight forward piece of noise music that rocks the house. It sounds like a rock band with dark rumbling noise underneath and cracklings on top, all in true fierce noise mood. Much more heavy and linear than the other side, but great noise altogether." - Frans de Ward, Vital Weekly

Artist: BIANCHI, MAURIZIO Title: Mind Us Trial/Ihc Naib Oizir Uam Format: Double CDR Label: EEST Country: Italy Price: $34.00
"EEsT presents two new works by Maurizio Bianchi: Mind Us Trial. Phonological de-composition in eight dissections for tapes, noises and neurologic piano. This paleogenetic work wants to be an epitaph, and at the same time a commemoration, of those corrosive instants when M.B. was an equalized disciple of the industrial delirium. With respectful thanks to the electroacoustic influence of the decadent and palpitating past. Ihc Naib Oizir Uam. Cyclic improvisation for chaotic piano, apocalyptic guitar and final frequencies." -EEST.
Artist: BIANCHI, MAURIZIO Title: Colori Format: CD Label: EEST Country: Italy Price: $17.00
A new subdivision of Alga Marghen, to deal with MBs music. "The very first new recording from Maurizio Bianchi (MB) since his decision to quit the arena of sound in 1984. Yes, hes back, the world-wide recognized master of apocalyptic electronics has decided to come back to music, opening up a new phase for his creativity." - EEST.
Artist: BIANCHI, MAURIZIO Title: First Day -- Last Day Format: CD Label: EEST Country: Italy Price: $17.00
"One year has passed since MB/Maurizio Bianchi decided to come back to the music arena with his very personal new sound exploration. Conceived in the same direction of the previous CD titled Colori , this new work found its bases in the revaluation of the events the started the Creation, when an intelligent and complex act of sublime love started our physical universe off, transposing them in form of 8 electronic compositions elaborated in a 2 year work. A darker atmosphere marks the background sounds giving to the whole program a more obscure and less easy impression while the more melodic traces fluctuate without direction in an empty space. MB has always worked in a very direct way following his true inspiration; he has devoted his music to the sincere listeners who will now immerse themselves in these sound waves and in the sea of primordial sonorities. The connection to his past recordings is to be found in this attitude and a reference to these feelings was already existing in the early 1980s as reported in some interviews and statements soon to be included in the full documentation of ArcheoMB boxset 2 (not a reference to the specific religious themes but anyway a more general idea of spiritual collapse and chancing). What could be interesting is to notice this continuity and consider the past and present works as a whole. Of course with a huge formal difference in the material sound approach." - EEST.
Artist: BIANCHI, MAURIZIO Title: The Plain Truth Format: CD Label: EEST Country: Italy Price: $20.00
"First issued on the Broken Flag label in the UK in an edition of 500 in 1983. A different style, providing some distance from all his previous works; a more expansive experimentation with multiple layers of synthesizer sounds. Still very intense. MBs recordings come closest to classical electronics, but always with a very personal style. This CD edition also features an interview on Radio Popolare in Milan from 1/1/83. An English translation is included in the liner notes. Dedicated to all the redeemed people." - EEST. 2008 repress.
Artist: BIANCHI, MAURIZIO Title: Armaghedon Format: CD Label: EEST Country: Italy Price: $20.00
"Private LP edition of 300 copies in 1984. This record is the soundtrack for a film with the same title, produced and directed by Maurizio Bianchi. For obscure reasons, the original LP remained unavailable for a long time, and was distributed only 1 year after it was printed. Moreover, most of the copies were destroyed. Less than 100 actually exist. This was MBs last vinyl production, and also the only one featuring recordings of the artists voice. It was made during a period of huge change in MBs life." - EEST.2008 Repress
Artist: BIANCHI, MAURIZIO Title: Dates Format: CD Label: EEST Country: Italy Price: $17.00
"EesT records is happy to announce a further step into the Maurizio Bianchi new production, a new compact disc which completes the Trilogy starting with the previous Colori and First Day-Last Day . This time the author concentrates on Time, or the inevitable. A sound counterpointistic journey beginning with the creation of the first human being, in autumn 4026 B.C.E. and passing through the two big planetary cataclysms. Then the individual experience of MB himself is investigated, a sort of electro-biography. The climax of this work is represented by the dramatic collaps describing the imminent destruction of todays society. MB explains that this is not an utopical perspective but those feelings rise from the Revelator of all the secrets, the One who knows the future in advance and all the connected events. The Creator of the majestic universe and the One to whom all of us will give account when the final war of Har-Maghedon will break up on 60.. A.M. Will there be any survivor then? Hopefully there will be among the listeners of this work who will delight their ears and fill their hearts with the compelling and intense emotional sounds of Dates ." - EEST.
Artist: BIANCHI, MAURIZIO Title: Carcinosi Format: CD Label: Eest Country: Italy Price: $20.00
"Originally issued as a private LP in an edition of 400 copies in 1983. De-composition for bionic organisms and concrete sounds. A sound that refuses both the cold logic of the fetish electronic computer-man-of-the-year and the sterile exasperation of the negative. A sound that dilutes and coagulates, eluding the listeners with minimal variations that make the cyclic style of Phillip Glass resemble a carousel of colors. This CD also features two untitled tracks first issued on compilation cassettes. Compositive discipline." - EEST.2008 Repress
Artist: BIANCHI, MAURIZIO Title: Frammenti Format: CD Label: EEST Country: Italy Price: $17.50
"Frammenti, i.e. fragments, is the new direction in Maurizio Bianchis music. An acoustic-bionic composition for electromagnetic waves and cyclic sonorities. Left now are all the indeterminate atmospheres gently fluctuating, in order to reach a more formal and structured work. Still dealing with the fragments of our memories made of joy and tribulations, sensations and awareness, aspirations and disappointments, with the carnal and the spiritual assistance. This new composition, quite as literally as the title suggests, consists of two long sound-collages reminding some of the techniques that MB was using in the late seventies under the name of Sacher-pelz. The music is not that brutal DIY intensity of analogic treatments, but more a digital version of nowadays oscillating clinic sonorities. As the author stated: "Those who will have the courage to listen to and investigate it, will remain mentally upright when confronted with the opposition of todays music -- which is so mechanical, hybrid, aseptic, narcotic, obsessive -- while in their heart nothing will be left but the principal fragment, which originated the sonorous universe: the sacredness of infinity!". Available now in an edition limited to 500 copies." - EEST.
Artist: BIANCHI, MAURIZIO Title: Endometrio Format: CD Label: EEST Country: Italy Price: $20.00
"Originally issued as a private LP edition of 400 copies in 1983. De-composition for synthetic sounds and electronically generated noises. Here MB distanced himself from the movement of the industrial bruitists, introducing his bionic music. Notwithstanding the difficulty of listening, especially upon initial impact, you are facing treated and filtered synthetic sounds that become new organisms -- sound cells analysed under the microscope. This CD also includes excerpts from private tape editions originally issued on compilation cassettes. Personal and obsessive."- EEST.2008 Repress
Artist: SACHER-PELZ Title: Mutation For A Continuity Format: 4CD Box Set Label: Eest Country: Italy Price: $76.00
"Very few are aware of the beginning of Maurizio Bianchis adventures? Before starting the complex and compelling production of many records and tapes in the early eighties under the M.B. trademark, Maurizio Bianchi was documenting the new music scene writing essays and reviews for independent magazines. It was August 1979 in Milan, Italy and his sound was strengthening when he felt the time had come to prove his desire for something new. So he started his first solo project, under the name Sacher-pelz. He assembled a concrete equipment -- the endurance of M.B. had started. During the following few months four C60 magnetic tapes were created Cainus (August/September 1979), Venus (October/November 1979), Cease to Exist (December 1979/January 1980) and Velours (February/March 1980), a couple of copies for friends, never getting an official distribution. Surely a very private moment but still the first and only production at that time in Italy to go beyond the TG movement, the direct reference. EesT records got into possession of the original masters and decided this was the right moment to let those obscure sonorities see the night light. The tapes were remastered for a more powerful digital sound featured in this four CD boxset including the original graphics and liner notes as well as a new visionary essay, written expressly for this edition. After a long research in the archives spread around the Italian territories a few more documents were found (the original presentation text titled Sacher-pelz: mutation for a continuity, a collage titled Pure art for crime people, more graphics and reviews) and they are also included here. Edition of 480 copies." - Eest.

2008 repress. "Reissue of the private LP edition of 300 copies from 1981; the pyramidal construction of these two suites, with its intentionally brutal and grotesque deformations, elaborates on overflowing and apocalyptical collapse, dragging a completely dissolvent conception of the world and of the para-industrial sound. Bonus tracks: Milan Bruits from the Fix Planet! comp (Ata Tak) and the two tracks first issued in the very limited Nowhere To Play in 1981. Let M.B. be your executioner!" - Eest
Artist: BIANCHI, MAURIZIO Title: Symphony for a Genocide Format: CD Label: Eest Country: Italy Price: $20.00
2008 repress. "ArcheoMB is the title given to the complete reprint of old M.B. records and here is part 1. EEsT Records and M.B. collaborated in this project, well understanding the value of these early works and their importance in the evolution of M.B. The sound has been improved for this digital edition from original master tapes and under the supervision of M.B. himself. All CDs feature the original artwork plus the complete historical documentation (liner notes, reviews, statements). First press of 1000 copies each. Symphony... was first issued on the Sterile label in the UK in an edition of 200 copies. M.B.: electronics, effects, rhythms. Symphony... is the most extreme music youre ever likely to hear. There are 7 tracks, all consisting of a never-changing hissing or clanking rhythm, electronic effects over the top and a wall of distortion somewhere in the middle. This is the sound of industrial music, not T.G. Maximum electronics! 3 bonus tracks first issued on Bain Totals International Compilation 2 in 1980." -Eest

2008 repress. "Reissue of a private LP, issued in edition of 300 copies in 1982; a skeletal extremist project that will then transform into the soundtrack of a movie with the same title, edited and directed by Paul Hurst. Its the setting of the griable pre-apocalyptic fossilization, the supreme lapidation of the meanness which creates the myth. There are actual melodies present -- dense and dark that mutate into harsh electronic outbursts. The CD also features Plutoniumetrico from the Fur Ilse Koch LP compilation." - Eest
Artist: BIANCHI, MAURIZIO Title: Regel Format: CD Label: Eest Country: Italy Price: $20.00
2008 repress. "Reissue of the private LP, issued in an edition of 300 copies in 1982; his experimentation with noise syndrome has developed into a powerful stylistic electronic music that on Regel is coherent and dynamic. A dense synthetic melange sets the backdrop over which he uses various rhythms/effects to achieve maximum intensity. Acido Prussica, first issued on the Neuengamme LP compilation, is also included on this CD edition. Maurizio is ready to unload this death cargo." - Eest
Artist: BIANCHI, MAURIZIO Title: Mectpyo Bakterium Format: CD Label: Eest Country: Italy Price: $20.00
2008 repress. "First issued by Mnemonists label (DYS in the US). M.B.: proto-electronics, compositions, arrangements. Mektpyo Bakterium is a work furnished of implacable plastic exasperation. The icy oppression, the hallucinative electronic wounds, are a precious and singular fact in a technological society brought to the limit. The emotion is pushed into dangerous zones, and unusual zones, and unusual tensions -- free biological groans of extreme effectiveness. A vivid expression of a world in extinction! Bonus tracks: Placenta, first issued on the 40 Days 40 Nights picture-disc LP in 1982, and the M.B. contribution to the International Friendship compilation LP from 1983." - Eest
Artist: HASSELL, JON Title: Dream Theory in Malaya: Fourth World Volume Two Format: CD Label: EG Country: USA Price: $12.00
Seminal 1981 recordings; Mati Klarwein cover. Personnel includes: Jon Hassell (trumpet, pottery drums); Michael Brook (bass); Walter DeMaria (drums); Brian Eno (drums, bowl gongs, bells); Miguel Frasconi (bowl gongs); Daniel Lanois (mix). "Volume One of Jon Hassell and Brian Enos Fourth World report remains a classic recording of electronic, mutant gamelan and exotic indigenous musics that truly bridges many worlds. Dream Theory In Malaya picks up right where its predecessor left off, eking out even more convoluted paths into the dense shrubs and foliage of the cyberjungle. Dream Theory In Malaya, featuring collaborators Eno and Daniel Lanois, is one of Hassells finest moments. Hassells remarkable trumpet tone, all tone smears and monsoon breaths, is at its peak on Dream Theory, wherein insect-like tribesmen make ritual whoopee amid cavalcades of thick, throbbing log drums. At once alien and awe-inspiring, this music is so highly individual that it has yet to be eclipsed -- even by Hassell himself. Datu Bintung at Jelong further probes the gamelan/juju interface, splicing in the respiratory sounds of metallic harps, vibrating electronic chorales and strange, mechanistic breathing." - EG.
Artist: ACKERMAN, BLASTER AL Title: I Am Drunk Format: LP Label: Ehse Country: USA Price: $14.00
"..an insanely prolific maker of word machines, a Dionysian weaver of tall tales about people that Kraft-Ebbing only dreamt of during naps after overdoing it at University buffet luncheons, co-founder of confounding Neoism, internationally reknowned mail artist prankster, former census taker, romance writer, medical attendant in a burn unit (okay, lets get this out there - those are his words, inspired by the burn unit, used by Psychic TV in "Hamburger Lady"), author of many books including The Blaster Al Ackerman Omnibus, Let Me Eat Massive Pieces of Clay and I Taught My Dog to Shoot a Gun. For Christs sake he even did television work in the 50s and worked for LBJ!" - Ehse.
Artist: TROCKENEIS Title: 5025 AD Format: LP Label: Ehse Country: USA Price: $14.00
"From the den of pre-scientific iniquity in which Baltimore sound actors thrive on non-planning, the stately emergence of professional harsh acousticians in five-part harmony, a brash romp through the New Frictionalism, The New Spectralism, and The New Ritualism. Bowing. Rubbing. Scraping. Squealing. Squeaking. Screeching. Moaning. Silence. Anything else. Nothing else. Sound fixations waiting to unfix in the act of observation/measurement. Go ahead, measure them. Then flip to side B and watch your numbers float away in a muddy stream of ink. All sounds were made without electricity. Its portable music. You can easily move from now to the time when there was no emotion, just its precursors of permanently lingering urgency. Paul Neidhardt, Catherine Pancake, Dan Breen, and Andy Hayleck caress their idiophones until theyre lost in backporch lullabies of terror. Audrey Chens voice also gets lost, swallowed by its mechanical half-kin and trapped into the shadow world of forbidden overtones. In the center we find a steaming hunk of dry ice, hosting the sounds of molecular frenzy at the interface of hot and cold. Metal. Wood. H2O. Larynx. Danger. Safety. They say its built into the limbic system." - Ehse. Instrumentation: bowed metal, dry ice with heated metal, musical saws, percussion and voice.
Artist: HARRIUS Title: Enter the Cotton Ring Format: LP Label: Ehse Country: USA Price: $14.00
"Jenny Gräf Sheppard (of Metalux) and Chiara Giovando (of PCPCG and a bunch of other bands no ones ever heard of) sits quietly for its real audience in the ages. Both an alarmingly intense and hushed noise record and totally whacked songwriter record, if it needed a category, Enter the Cotton Ring is an exploratory Mack truck of left-hemisphere-manifestation-in-time. Unlike the majority of vocal-noise hybrids bubbling up lately, Gräf and Giovando reference neither sound poetry, nor metal (for the dudes) or jazz balladry (for the ladies) but instead a novel hybrid of dream-incantation, lieder and effects that electronics might achieve but how? An unsettling mix of vocal wrenching and mellifluousness, effected guitar twang fuckery and intuitive anti-system electronics, itll send you on a rapid shuttle-ferry on the space-time straits, compelling you to keeping chewing slowly." - Ehse.
Artist: HAYLECK, ANDY Title: Two Gong/Wire Pieces Format: LP Label: Ehse Country: USA Price: $14.50
"Baltimore-based sound artist Andy Hayleck has worked primarily with field recordings and bowed metal over the past seven years in improvised settings, installation and solo composed works. His previous recordings include The Disappearing Floor (Recorded), a suite of edited field recordings and vibrating metal sounds; Various Recordings Involving Ice (Fairfield/HereSee), a set of field recordings of crystallized H2O; and his bowed saw and cymbal performances with fricative free music collaborative group Trockeneis (Ehse). Two Gong/Wire Pieces presents side-long live-to-tape performances using a special system which Hayleck has invented and with which he has performed widely - bowing a long wire attached to a Chinese gong, allowing for special control of the irrational vibrations of the metal plate through careful control over the tension of the wire and place and style of bowing. The resulting masses of beating tone-forms are lakes and pools of eddies or whirlpools born from a deceptively simple and carefully considered system and a seemingly enormous pair of ears." - Ehse.
Artist: SNACKS Title: Natural Snacks Format: 10" Picture Disc Label: Ehse Country: USA Price: $17.50
"For this record, Snacks initially wanted to encode an interactive web site of sexy dance music videos and lathe it into vinyl. Included with the record would be an rca jack to telephone wire adapter so people could jam the album using their old 56k modems. The board of directors at Ehse Records unfortunately 86ed this concept leaving Snacks to do a picture disc containing analog gastronomy, fights between the wait staff and the cooks, effluvial drum licks, persuasive percussion, tasteful guitar solos, non-ironic tap dancing, hot body squelches, vintage garbage, French primitivism, nocturnal grooves carved in avocado rinds, troublesome themes, Slavic melancholy, uptight programming, neoist sequencers, ham-fisted mastering. Picture window hand-screened jacket around picture of pure record picture disc record. Edition of 500."-Ehse.
Artist: NAGOSKI, IAN Title: Kerflooey Format: LP Label: Ehse Country: USA Price: $17.00
"Nagoski has been one of the most heartfelt progenitors of electronic, psychedelic soundfields of the past decade, having produced three solo full-lengths in tiny editions and contributing his sounds on record with the likes of Joe McPhee, Jack Rose, Six Organs of Admittance, Pelt, and Magali Babin and collaborating live with Tom Carter. Nautical Almanac, Andy Hayleck, Donald Miller and many others. A record shop owner and writer, he has published in Halana, The Wire, the Ecstatic Peace Poetry Review, Yeti, Baltimore City Paper, Sound Projector, Sound Collector, and elsewhere. His slow-moving soundfields have been praised in print by Bruce Russell, Chris Corsano, Campbell Kneale, John Berndt, Thurston Moore, Jerome Noetinger and many other peers. This is his first solo outing in four years, apart from his recent, widely-praised anthology of early 20th-century, foreign music collection Black Mirror: Reflections in Global Musics (1918-1955) on the Dust-to-Digital label." - Ehse.
Artist: CRANE, G. LUCAS & RIC ROYER Title: Dark Cabinet of the Strange Weird Format: LP Boxset Label: Ehse Country: USA Price: $20.00
"It has been a long forever since I had heard a good gothic collaboration. Hearkening back to the days of radio nasties and coming off like a bizarro-“Munsters” (so, actually eerie and funny?), Royer and Crane pulled out all the shock stops as they crept their way through macabre stories-with-sound, like on “Pig Dog Baby,” “Creepy Aunt Nikki,” and “Man with One Eye and a Hook for a Hand” (the latter is a peculiar piece with hilarious asides by Royer). Horror should unnerve and challenge, but mock-horror should fascinate and delight, and Dark Cabinet of the Strange Weird certainly did. There were no mounting horrifying crescendos or terrifying rides to the edge of darkness, but there were plenty of toothsome, subtly spooky, old-style tales of suspense. One would be half-right to think of Dark Cabinet of the Strange Weird as a mere novelty (the cob-webbed album comes cased in an Erin Womack-illustrated crypt box), but they would be short-changing it; this ghoulish union was, surprisingly, a very embraceable example of surreal narrative and sound-torturing that remained with the listener well past its conclusion, but not necessarily for the “chilling” reasons you may think. Release of the year? Hardly. Smile of the year? Definitely." - Ehse.

Artist: ELLIOT, STEVE Title: S/T Format: CDR Label: Elefantplatte Country: USA Price: $10.00
"Elefantplatte Records is proud to present the 1969 private press loner folk lp by NYC musician Steve Elliot. Possessed of a raw, nasal, emotionally charged vocal style, Elliot spins tales of madness, death and regret, sounding simultaneously defeated and hopeful. Elliot is backed with bass, piano & wind instruments by later sidemen to Earth Opera, Tom Paxton & David Bowie( ! ). The album was presumably given away free (if the cover stencil is to be believed), and needless to say, is hideously rare. But through the magic of "Elefantplatte", this lost gem is now available to all. Housed in a mini-lp style cardboard jacket, with color cover & full lyric sheet. 7 tracks, 31 minutes." - Elefantplatte.
Artist: V/A Title: The Nativity Scene Format: CDR Label: Elefantplatte Country: USA Price: $10.00
"Subtitled “An Anthology of Christian Psychedelia & Exploitation”. What better soundtrack to the end times than this 24 track collection of "turned on" Christian youth music? The material is wildly diverse; the hard Hendrix-influenced fuzz of 4th Movement, the avant-classical/ garage stylings of Tedd Smith, the psychedelic chamber folk of Trees, the naive, orchestrated pop of Turning Point, the Byrdsy harmonies of The Mission, the huge breakbeats of David Fanshawes "African Sanctus", the inner space mind-melt of Crosscurrent Communitys "Genesis", and so much more. Assembled from various thrift store finds, and contains no overlap with the similarly-themed "Resurrection" and "Holy Fuzz" comps. Includes a three panel booklet with photos, artwork & commentary. This is a split release with co-compiler Daniel Presnells Feed & Seed Records. Jewel case, 24 tracks, 79 minutes." - Elefantplatte.

This one will definitely put a smile on any RESIDUAL ECHOES fans face. Five tracks, one-time limited edition pressing of 2,000 copies." -Elevation. |
Artist: PUBLIC WORKS Title: Numbers Format: Lathe Cut 9" Label: Elevator Bath Country: USA Price: $10.00
"With regard to Numbers, a few key observations can be made. Intuition, it seems clear, reaches conclusions that logic cannot. The same can be said of Public Works manner of working. The strength of Numbers lies in its ability to invoke draughts of apparently coded meaning, without necessarily rendering these too clearly; as if to say that in excessive amounts, clarity can serve to stifle the full development of intellectual flavor, presenting a less rounded impression of the form and volume occupied by the phenomenon in question. What better, indeed clearer, way is there to encapsulate the essence of the humankinds contemporary predicament? We know so much, and yet so little. We are masters of minutiae, and slaves to an ignorance of its ramifying effects." - Elevator Bath. Sound collage from former Tape Beatles members.
Artist: SHEFFIELD, COLIN ANDREW & ECK RIPPIE Title: Variations Format: LP Label: Elevator Bath Country: USA Price: $13.00
"variations is selection of works from the duo of turntablist/guitarist James Eck Rippie and sampling minimalist Colin Andrew Sheffield. After a recent cluster of live performances and even a bit of soundtrack work, Sheffield and Rippie have released a debut LP that is intriguing and beautiful. The textured ambience here is rich and subtle, simple and complex. The three pieces comprising this album were recorded live with no additional production or processing and were wholly improvised. Sheffield and Rippie have been performing and recording together for years, though variations is the first document of their ongoing collaboration. pressed on 180-gram vinyl with lovely full-color jackets, in an edition of 400 copies." - Elevator Bath.

Artist: MONOSOV, ILYA Title: Vinyl Document #1 Format: LP Label: Elevator Bath Country: USA Price: $13.50
"Music performed by 2 organ glitches, songs by broken music boxes (+ added circuits), a remix of my 2002 catalog (Music For Everyone) by my friend Andrew Deutsch: All broken music -- music breaking away from the surreal and the intellectual in order to gain physical characteristics -- I think music can be found in just about anything, just like everything can be said to have a musical quality. You can use sound to power a small motor that will be used in an autonomous sound piece or you can use it for a light bulb and play light songs for few green plants or maybe you can simply listen to the sound and observe things changing all around you -- I think that for me it is such small joys that can have a lasting effect on things and it is this perspective from which I continue to work." - Ilya Monosov.
Artist: SHEFFIELD, COLIN ANDREW Title: First Thus Format: CD Label: Elevator Bath Country: USA Price: $14.00
"This is Sheffields debut solo album. The recordings on this disc were entirely composed using other commercially available recordings. The goal was to distill the essential qualities of these works and then utilize that essence for new recordings. Only very brief sections of the original works were selected. These raw components were then contracted, expanded, layered, and/or otherwise processed until something new was forged. The result is gorgeous ambient music that gradually shifts and unfolds, offering subtle nuance and quiet restraint. In a sense, it is a collection of other peoples work, but this music appears here for the first time in a new setting or, if you will, a new translation. Packaged inside two elegant printed sleeves of 100% recycled paper, this compact disc has been issued in an edition of 330 copies." - Elevator Bath.
Artist: SHEFFIELD, COLIN ANDREW Title: In Between Format: 10" Label: Elevator Bath Country: USA Price: $8.00
"in between is an atmospheric new piece in two parts. It is possible that Colins work is best listened to peripherally, perhaps while writing or (as is the case with in between) while reading.... front cover text by ilex fenusova. The evocative writings which grace the records jacket come provided by this acclaimed poet from Texas. On transparent vinyl with lovely text-only jackets, in an edition of 295 copies."

"07.04.99 is the debut release from Bexar Bexar, an individual (and occasional collective) based in Texas. The record consists of a single piece: A beautiful, fascinating field recording with minimal musical accompaniment. Bexar Bexar has recorded a great deal of material, some of which has recently surfaced on the debut CD, Haralambos, available now from the very fine Western Vinyl label. This one-sided 12" has been issued on black vinyl in a numbered edition of 330 copies." - Elevator Bath.
Artist: BARBED Title: Pocket Reminders/Rolf O.D. Format: 7" Label: Elevator Bath Country: USA Price: $4.00
"Alex McKechnie and Alex Burrow are Barbed. Based in London, the Alexes are known for their witty audio collage work (see Barbeds 1994 full-length CD, released by These Records). Since the time of their debut, they have contributed to numerous compilation releases, including those for Lo Recordings, Staalplaat, Leaf, Kleptones, and RRRecords, among others. Most recently, Barbed have appeared on the People Like Us "remix" album doing what they do best. Barbeds 7" for Elevator Bath (their first ever single release, and their first new individual release in quite some time) features two brand new pieces. On black vinyl with full-color jackets, in an edition of 800 copies." - Elevator Bath.
Artist: SHEFFIELD, COLIN ANDREW Title: Spring (Time) / The Bridge Format: 7" Label: Elevator Bath Country: USA Price: $4.00
"Colins sophomore effort from 1999 continues in a vein similar to that of his first record. The digital, mechanical sounds are still present but are now intertwined with deep tones and hidden half-melodies. On transparent vinyl with lovely inner and outer jackets, in an edition of 300 copies." - Elevator Bath.
Artist: SHEFFIELD, COLIN ANDREW Title: Side One/Side Two Format: 7" Label: Elevator Bath Country: USA Price: $4.00
"This is Sheffields debut (as well as the first for Elevator Bath), released in 1998. The record consists of two short pieces, each of which utilizes highly amplified machine sounds. On transparent vinyl with fold-out covers, in an edition of 475 copies." - Elevator Bath.
Artist: HAVERGAL Title: Trash Format: 10" Label: Elevator Bath Country: USA Price: $7.00
"The five instrumental compositions, which comprise this EP from 1999, are contemplative and melodic sound experiments. Traditional instrumentation (guitar, percussion, etc.) mixes with found sounds and samples to create wisely restrained, yet emotional music. On transparent vinyl with clear plastic sleeves, in an edition of 550 copies." - Elevator Bath.
Artist: MONOSOV, ILYA Title: Architectures on Air and Other Works Format: CD Label: Elevator Bath Country: USA Price: $14.00
"Elevator Bath proudly presents the first full-length CD from Ilya Monosov. Architectures on Air and Other Works is a challenging collection of recordings, perfectly summarizing the various interests of this inventive sound artist. The range of these works is tremendous: From harsh intensity to gorgeous drone to virtual silence, concluding with the deeply affecting title track. Monosov recorded three of the six pieces presented here as solo works, while the other half are collaborations. Two of these collaborative tracks feature conceptual sound artist Civyiu Kkliu (Banned Productions) and the third includes the work of veteran electronic composer Larry Polansky (Frog Peak). Architectures on Air and Other Works displays the fruits of several years worth of activity, and though each piece is distinct in concept and execution, the album offers a solid block of organic sound, compelling from beginning to end. In addition to the stunning audio work, this enhanced CD also features two QuickTime movie files of Monosovs sound performances (about 18 minutes of material)." - Elevator Bath.
Artist: FREQUENCY CURTAIN Title: Frequency Curtain Format: CD Label: Elevator Bath Country: USA Price: $13.00
"Trio consisting of John Grzinich, Rick Reed and Josh Ronsen, using both analogue and digital sine wave generators, processing and interventions from the radiophonic spectrum. Frequency Curtain formed as a collaborative performance group, for an independent experimental media showcase in Austin, Texas known as Intersect 4. The Frequency Curtain debut (at Intersect 4) was on August 25th of 2001. In order to prepare for the performance, the group held a series of private improvisation sessions for two months prior to the event. What resulted was a highly charged interplay of analog and digital electronic sounds. The four tracks on this CD are excerpts from extended improvisation sessions. This compact disc is packaged in two beautiful heavy-paper sleeves, in an edition of 528 copies."
Artist: BOKANOWSKI, MICHELE Title: Trois Chambres D Inquiétude Format: CDEP Label: Elevator Bath Country: USA Price: $8.00
"Concrete music recorded, edited and mixed in the composers studio (Paris). Final mix: GMEB Studios (Bourges). First performance: June 5th, 1976, Bourges, Palais Jacques Coeur, 6th International Festival of Experimental Music. Title taken from the Danish engraver Lars Bo (1924-1999). Michèle Bokanowski studied harmony, fugue, counterpoint and analysis with Michel Puig from 1965 to 1969. In September 1970, she began a two-year internship at the Research Department of the French National Office of Broadcasting (ORTF) under the direction of Pierre Schaeffer. At the same time she participated in a sound synthesis research group, studied computer music at the University of Vincennes and electronic music with Eliane Radigue. Between 1972 and 1984 she composed essentially music to be performed in concert - POUR UN PIANISTE (For a Pianist), TROIS CHAMBRES DINQUIETUDE (Three Rooms of Unrest), TABOU (Taboo) - and for film - score for Patrick Bokanowskis short films as well as his feature-length film LANGE (The Angel). Since 1985, she has also composed for television, for theater - with director Catherine Dasté - and for dance - with choreographers Hideyuki Yano, Marceline Lartigue and Bernardo Montet. Michèle has released compact discs on the labels Metamkine, Empreintes Digitales, and trAce. Compact disc issued in an edition of 1000 copies. Packaged in beautiful full-color (inner and outer) jackets - featuring photography from the composers husband, filmmaker Patrick Bokanowski." - Elevator Bath.
Artist: HAYNES, JIM Title: Eraldus/Eravaldus Format: Picture Disc LP Label: Elevator Bath Country: USA Price: $21.00
"Beautiful picture disc LP featuring two full-color reproductions of visual works by Jim Haynes and two new side-long solo compositions. The ideal companion piece to Jim Haynes masterful album, Telegraphy by the Sea. Eraldus and Eravaldus are both shadowy concoctions built from agitated objects and amplified spaces (a lighthouse, some high-tension wires driven by wind, a very large pile of sand, etc.). These are subtly manipulated field recordings, rusted to perfection and fine-tuned into scraping and humming machinations. The artwork comes from two corroded photographs, one of which was created especially for this LP. Haynes has worked with this process for almost 15 years and, here, the resulting images are as beautiful and mysterious as the audio is nuanced and evocative. In addition to his solo work, Jim Haynes has participated in a number of fruitful collaborations over the years with Loren Chasse (as Coelacanth), Keith Evans, Steven Stapleton/Nurse With Wound, and irr. app. (ext.)/M.S. Waldron. He currently resides in San Francisco. This picture disc LP has been released in an edition of 260 copies." -Elevator Bath
Artist: REED, RICK Title: Dreamz / Blue Polz Format: Picture Disc LP Label: Elevator Bath Country: USA Price: $18.00
"Beautiful picture disc LP featuring two full-color reproductions of visual works by Rick Reed and two new side-long solo compositions. Reeds fascinating, highly evolved world is represented well by these two new pieces, each of which offers up the kind of droning intensity and unsettling beauty that this veteran noisemaker has come to be known for. Reeds work is very obviously that of an experienced craftsman - one whose sound is a reverent nod to early electronic music underscored by an enduring sensibility for atmosphere and ethereality. "Dreamz" began life as the soundtrack for a live visual display by filmmaker Ken Jacobs, which was performed live by Jacobs and Reed at the 2007 New York Film Festival. The records flipside, "Blue Polz," was also inspired by the work of a filmmaker (originally conceived as a kind of alternate soundtrack to a piece by Fred Worden). All of the music was created using an EMS Synthi A, plus 2 sine wave generators and a shortwave radio. The artwork comes from two original paintings. Reed has been active in the visual arts for more than 20 years; his work is utterly abstract, beautifully enigmatic. These images are the perfect accompaniment to Reeds otherworldly audio counterparts. In addition to his solo work, Rick Reed has participated in a number of productive collaborations over the years with Keith Rowe, Jgrzinich (in Frequency Curtain), the Abrasion Ensemble, and SIRSIT. He currently resides in Austin. This picture disc LP has been released in an edition of 260 copies." - Elevator Bath.
Artist: FINE, MILO/DAVU SERU/ELLIOT FINE Title: Second Meeting (Percussion; Improvised) Format: CD Label: Elfin Country: USA Price: $10.00
"Milo Fine: marimba (electronics), orchestra chimes, bowed cymbals; Davu Seru: percussion; Elliot Fine: drum set, assorted percussion. Recorded in concert at Homewood Studios (Minneapolis) July 11, 2005, this CD documents the trios second encounter. (The entirety of their first concert can be heard on Elfin 1/2: PERCUSSION MUSIC; IMPROVISED). Milos lifework in improvised music began in 1969. Davu started working with free improvisation in 1998, and, in 2000, began his ongoing collaborations with Milo. In addition to being a 44 year veteran of the Minnesota Orchestra, Elliot, Milos father, has a long career as a free lance drummer, teacher, and drum book author. This CD documents his sixth foray into improvised music." - Elfin.

Artist: VITAMIN B12 Title: Format: Double 10" Label: Elica Country: ITALY Price: $26.00
"More catchy than Dlin Dlon Cowboy. The Vitamin B12s music maintains an ingenious home-made sound in a refined bric-a-brac of experimental sound explorations, adventurous and successful juxtapositions and playful melodies and structures. This set presents 24 kaleidoscopic miniatures, like the images which adorn the cover, assembled with amazingly gracious do-it-yourself pop sensibility, groovy lounge tendencies and a passionate curiosity for noise and sound modification. The history of The Vitamin B12 remains a mystery for us too, so that not many words can be written on that. This is its first album which is not self-released, following an obscure four-LP box set and an even more obscure double LP set, which were mysteriously released in tiny editions in England in the last decade or so. A double 10" LP record set (as we decided that a Vitamin B12 release can only be a multiple one) with color gatefold sleeve, released in an edition of about 400 copies." - Elica.
Artist: VITAMIN B12 Title: Format: Double 10"/DVD Box Set Label: Elica Country: Italy Price: $80.00
"special edition of 50 numbered copies of the TWO 10” GATEFOLD SET in unique boxes each including a unique print and Alasdair Willis eye-popping kaleidoscopic short film PATTERN PLANT on CD/DVD." - Elica.
Artist: RILEY, TERRY Title: Last Camel In Paris Format: CD Label: Elisian Fields Country: USA Price: $14.00
"Throughout the 1970s, legendary American composer TERRY RILEY toured regularly in Europe, performing solo organ concerts. In October 1978, Rileys personal technician CHESTER WOOD built a stereo digital delay out of an ancient computer he had procured from DON BUCHLA, and the subsequent tour was the maiden voyage to try it out. Rileys specially modified two-manual Yamaha YC-45D portable combo organ had a Just Intonation setting and allowed him to feed stereo signals to the digital delay. The Yamaha had been manufactured with single mono output, but now with the modification it had a separate output for each manual eventuating in four channels (two live and two delayed). During a residency as a Fellow at DAAD in Berlin, Riley fine-tuned the delay speeds and experimented with different stereo combinations so that by the time of this Paris concert, the tape delays worked well with the tempos he was using. This all came on the heels of the Shri Camel recording Riley had just made in San Francisco for CBS. The musical materials of The Last Camel in Paris are second generational, belonging to the Shri Camel family while manifesting their own distinct shape and flavor. Includes never-before seen archival photographs." - Elision Fields.
Artist: RILEY, TERRY Title: Poppy Nogood and the Phantom Band All Night Flight Format: CD Label: Elision Fields Country: USA Price: $14.50
TERRY RILEYs classic "All Night" album originally released as part of the Organ of Corti Archive Series. "The live recording of Poppy Nogood and the Phantom Band All Night Flight taken from a 1968 concert titled "Purple Modal Strobe Ecstasy with the Daughters of Destruction" is the perfect trigger for what anthropologist Jean Rouch called The Strange Mechanism, the trance state which most of this decades electronic music aspires to induce. The immediacy and the spectral filigree-the dervishes summoned during Rileys nocturnal concert-have been faithfully preserved on this CD."-Richard Henderson, The Wire. Packaged with new cover art and photography.
Artist: RILEY, TERRY Title: Reed Streams Format: CD Label: Elision Fields Country: USA Price: $14.00
"TERRY RILEYs first LP, originally released in 1966 in a limited edition of 1,000 on Mass Art. Includes the first appearance of the time-lag accumulator on record heard in an early version of "Poppy Nogood and the Phantom Band," along with a version of "Keyboard Studies" on reed organ, and as a bonus, a psychedelic big-band adaptation of "In C (Mantra)" recorded under the direction of WALTER BOUDREAU in 1970." Highly recommended!
Artist: RILEY, TERRY Title: Les Yeux Fermés & Lifespan Format: CD Label: Elision Fields Country: USA Price: $17.00
"After changing the world in the late 60s with In C and A Rainbow in Curved Air, legendary American composer and father of minimalism Terry Riley abandoned tape manipulation and written composition to concentrate on longform keyboard cycles and improvisations. In the early 70s, while in Europe, he was invited to create scores for two films. The first, in 1972, was Joel Santonis Les Yeux Fermés, a feature-length art film that instantly became a cult classic by virtue of its never having screened in the USA. The second, Lifespan, directed by Alexander Whitelaw in 1974, featured Klaus Kinski. Both soundtracks were released in limited editions on LP and have long been out-of-print. This first-ever CD release of these two classic Terry Riley soundtracks - both on one disc - was remastered from the original tapes, the hypnotic songs sounding far superior to the below-average vinyl pressings." - Elision Fields.
Artist: MANSON FAMILY Title: The Family Jams Format: Picture Disc LP Label: Elite Hunting Country: USA Price: $34.00
"The lost acid-folk "desert music" songs of Charles Manson, recorded during his trial in 1970 by Family members Clem on guitar and vocals, Gypsy on violin, and featuring the ultra-ethereal vocals of Gold and Country Sue. Artwork by Adam Parfrey and Robert N. Taylor, with included postcard. Very limited pressing of 500 copies, German import." -Elite Hunting.

"A truly old style industrial record which shows the various sides of the genre: from rhythmic noise to bombastic sounds and from minimal electronics to ritual music. The obscure Dutch Vektor project teams up with Echo West, ICK and Terroritmo for a celebration of real industrial music." - Elitepop
Artist: HAIZEA Title: s/t Format: Label: Elkarnean Country: Spain Price: $16.00

Artist: V/A Title: Ohm+ - The Early Gurus of Electronic Music Format: 3CD/1DVD Label: Ellipsis Arts Country: USA Price: $40.00
| "OHM: the early gurus of electronic music. Met with critical acclaim, this award-winning box set celebrated the composers and inventors who led the electronic music revolution. Five years later due to continued demand from passionate aficionados (eBay sales at $150, etc.) were now re-releasing the Special Edition OHM+ containing a bonus DVD with over two and a half hours of performances, interviews, and experimental video. Plus, unique to this new version: a Special Edition DVD -- Over two hours of rare performances, interviews, animations, and experimental video." Most works are in excerpted form (full versions of everything here would have required a much bigger set to say the least), but there are a number of exclusive, previously unreleased tracks as well (Richard Maxwell, MEV, Raymond Scott, La Monte Young, Maryanne Amacher & Jon Hassell). Crucial release for the beginner or the connoisseur, and everybody inbetween. | Artist: LEGENDARY STARDUST COWBOY, THE Title: Paralyzed!: His Vintage Recordings 1968-1981 Format: CD Label: EM Country: Japan Price: $21.00 |
"Killer presentation of the earliest recordings of this Texas hero, including all 4 of this singles for the Mercury label, cut in the late 60s. Plus unreleased tracks and the 1984 album, Rock-it To Stardum. Typically great EM Recors booklet with old photos and lyrics, etc." - FE. "It might be the weirdest piece of music ever committed to tape in Fort Worth. On Paralyzed, an explosion of madness recorded at Sound City Studios on Camp Bowie Boulevard in 1968, the Legendary Stardust Cowboy thrashes away at a single guitar chord over a rudimentary two-beat, tunelessly bellowing indecipherable lyrics and whooping like an Indian in an old western movie. In the middle of the song, theres a drum solo that sounds like someone dropping trash cans down a flight of stairs, followed by a blatting bugle. The pandemonium starts up again only to subside, like the end of an epileptic seizure. Hearing the song for the first time is disorienting, to say the least. Its impact is both hilarious and primal. Norman Carl Odam is an unlikely musical hero. Thats the name the Leges parents gave him when he was born, in Lubbock in 1947. But since high school, hes called himself the Legendary Stardust Cowboy. He has an extremely limited vocal range, has trouble singing in time, and can barely play his instruments. Yet, some surprising people like him. Chameleon-like British rocker David Bowie based his Ziggy Stardust character on the Lege after receiving a copy of Paralyzed from Mercury Records upon signing with the label in 1968." - EM.
Artist: ROSENBOOM, DAVID Title: Brainwave Music Format: CD Label: EM Country: Japan Price: $24.00
"CD reissue of biofeedback/brainwave music masterpieces from 1971 to 1974, using analog synthesizers, piano, and text. Includes a bonus track, a previously-unreleased 2001 piece featuring biofeedback-driven computer synthesis, violin and oboe. With original cover art." - EM.
Artist: EATON, WILLIAM Title: Music By William Eaton Format: CD Label: EM Country: Japan Price: $24.00
Originally released in 1978, this was a private-press album from an experimental stringed instrument builder (the photos of said instruments in this booket are mindblowing). First time re-issue on CD. "When I started building instruments, playing guitar took on a whole new dimension. The process of envisioning the design, drawing the plans, making templates, cutting, carving, and gluing revealed new insights about the construction, inner workings and physical mechanics of guitars and stringed instruments. From the conception to the birth of each instrument, new layers of meaning unfolded. During this time I sought out quiet natural environments to play and listen to the voice of my 6-string, 12-string, 26-string (Elesion Harmonium) and double neck quadraphonic electric guitar. Deep canyons contained a beautiful resonant quality and echo. A star lit night with a full moon provided all the reflection and endless space by which to project music into the cosmos. The sound of a bubbling stream and singing birds added a natural symphonic tapestry to a melody or chord pattern. These were solo sessions where I felt integrally connected to all that was happening. As I perceived it, everything was participating in a serendipitous dance. Everything was part of the music. I decided to record an instrumental album of music. The idea was simple; it would be a series of tone poems with no titles or any information attached, only the words Music by William Eaton. It was conceived as a limited edition of 1000 copies, with no more to be pressed. While some of the songs evolved out of composed chord progressions, most of the songs were played spontaneously, only on the occasion of the recording. These improvised songs havent been played since." -William Eaton.
Artist: MCLEAN, BARTON & PRISCILLA Title: Electronic Landscapes Format: CD Label: EM Country: Japan Price: $24.00
Originally issued in 1979, first time on CD w/ bonus tracks. "Although Barton and his wife Priscilla McLean have had a long and distinguished history of LP and compact disc albums throughout their professional composer/performer career, this album is unique in that it is the first one to present, on one CD, such a broad and comprehensive picture of their purely electronic music, spanning 1975 through 2001. Interestingly, although their materials and equipment have changed, their ideas of musical composition are still basically the same, creating a unity throughout the CD." From the liner notes: "When Bart introduced me to the new studio with the Synthi-100, I stared unbelievingly: here was a huge synthesizer, along a whole wall, with hundreds of push-pins (a matrix setup for connecting sounds, rather than the old patch cords), and twenty-two oscillators! The Synthi-256 Digital Sequencer was a full-sized keyboard, standing alone diagonally to the analog synthesizer, but connected internally. In that studio with the giant machines, one raced from one end of the room to another to play and record the sounds, never sitting down, and in removing unwanted noise or editing out a recorded section, the composer had to take a metal splicing block and sharp razor blade, and pressing down very hard, cut through the 1-inch wide acetate tape in two places, remove the unwanted time segment, and rejoin the two remaining ends with special splicing tape! So we three - Bruce, Bart, and I worked all our spare time, alternating with each other, in the I.U.S.B. Studio. I spent whole days there, sometimes 22 hours long, working and working to get just the right sound-combinations and record them." - Priscilla Mclean.
Artist: YOUNG, ROLAND P. Title: Isophonic Boogie Woogie Format: CD Label: EM Country: Japan Price: $24.00
"Reissue of the legendary 5-track first LP (plus 2 bonus tracks) from horn wizard & original underground FM radio DJ Young, featuring soprano sax, clarinet, and electronically-processed bass clarinet. An enjoyable outing from a neglected musician. Cosmic Afro minimal electronic winds recorded in 1970s San Francisco." - EM. "Classic explorations from the dude who was responsible for the legendary Infinite Sound LP on Arch 1750." - FE.
Artist: LINDO & THE HAMMER, SHERIFF Title: Ten Dubs That Shook the World Format: CD Label: EM Country: Japan Price: $24.00
"Superb 13 Aussie dub tracks from 1981 to 1988 by Loop Orchestra member Sheriff Lindo aka Anthony Maher. Surprisingly almost home recordings, under the style of heavy roots reggae but experimental also industrial sense. Original vinyl release limited to only 250 copies. Echo, delay, phasers, ring modulators, full on!" - EM.
Artist: IASOS Title: Inter-Dimensional Music Format: CD Label: EM Country: Japan Price: $24.00
"CD reissue of the 1978 debut LP by the original new age music legend, Iasos. 15 tracks (including 3 bonus tracks) of original analog bliss. It is NOT the typical sounds like average new age music we found throughout the 80s, it is a trippy exotic psych sound having roots in 60s West Coast experimental music. A cornerstone of new age music by real new agers." "l find lasos inter-dimensional music needing new words to describe it. I feel as though I were entering a new world - a new and very profoundly beautiful world." - Buckminster Fuller.
Artist: TULLY Title: Sea of Joy Format: CD Label: EM Country: Japan Price: $21.00
"First time on CD & re-issue of the music for the classic Australian surf movie filmed by Paul Witzig in 1971, starring Wayne Lynce, Nat Young and Ted Spencer. Filmed in Australia, Mauritius, South Africa, Oahu and Kauai. The music was all written & performed by a psychedelic rock acid folk outfit called Tully featuring Richard Lockwood and Michael Carlos. The band that recorded Sea of Joy was the precocious child of two very different creatures, Tully the First (wild psychedelic & spiritual progressive rock) and Extradition (ethereal acid folk sounds, later survived the album entitled Hush). They played together once then became Tully the Second. The music they played for the soundtrack was engrossing and particularly enchanting (and still is!). You may find there will be nothing to compare such a recording with - not even other surf soundtracks or surfing-related music in the whole of surf music history (even now). Deep-psych-progressive-rock-acid folk surf in the early 1970s!" -Stephen McParland.
Artist: WADA, YOSHI Title: Lament For The Rise and Fall of the Elephantine Crocodile Format: CD Label: EM Country: Japan Price: $21.00
"Finally, a CD reissue of Yoshi Wadas most important and most rare LP, Lament For The Rise And Fall Of The Elephantine Crocodile, originally released in 1982 on the India Navigation label. Yoshi Wada is a Japanese sound installation artist and musician -- he moved to New York in the late 1960s, and became well-known as a Fluxus artist with links to La Monte Young, and has been involved in many performances and sound installations. However, he has released only two recordings, which are both hard to find. This CD contains two pieces: track 1 features a solo overtone voice (he studied with legendary Indian vocalist Pandit Pran Nath) recorded at the performance space Dry Pool (literally a dry pool that Wada slept in before this recording), with a deep underground echoing feeling. Track 2 displays Wadas trademark dense psychedelic drones using his "pipe horn," a home-made, bagpipe-like instrument. These wondrous sounds will take you to another, better world. 96khz/24bit digitally remastered complete full-length version (original LP edition was edited). Liner notes in English & Japanese." - EM
Artist: STEEL AN SKIN Title: Reggae Is Here Once Again Format: CD/DVD Label: EM Country: Japan Price: $26.00
"Outstanding steel pan, disco and dub CD + DVD release and the third installment in Em Records Steel Pan Series. Steel N Skin were an Afro-Caribbean workshop band based in 1970s London, founded by Peter Blackman, featuring ex-members of 20th Century Steel Band (Grandmaster Flashs fave). Comprised of young nightclub musicians born in Ghana, Nigeria, St. Kitts, Trinidad and the UK, the group gave concerts and workshops in London schools, expanding nationwide to prisons, psychiatric hospitals and summer festivals. The group combined an admirably brave, open and unironic mix of musical forms with community outreach, non-cynical and untainted by preachiness or "social work." Gratifyingly intricate African ritual rhythms and strong vocals compliment reggae, funk, disco and soul influences to form a relentless groove machine. This EM reissue consists of Steel N Skins 1979 debut 12" single "Reggae Is Here Once Again," featuring "Afro Punk Reggae (Dub)," a fine disco-dub workout, plus two tracks from their 1984 LP Acid Rain as well as one unissued track. The documentary DVD by Steve Shaw features perceptive commentary from Steel N Skins founder Peter Blackman, killer live and rehearsal footage of the band, workshop scenes and devastating views of inner-city Liverpool. Including liner notes written by Peter Blackman, English/Japanese text and rare photos. DVD running-time approximately 34 minutes; All-Region; NTSC."-EM
Artist: WADA, YOSHI Title: The Appointed Cloud Format: CD Label: EM Country: Japan Price: $21.00
"This is the first-ever release of the extraordinary 1987 performance of Yoshi Wadas interactive sound installation The Appointed Cloud, recorded in the Great Hall of the New York Hall of Science. This majestic recording captures 60 minutes of sound produced by a self-made 80-pipe organ, a pipe gong, sirens and a massive suspended metal sheet, all triggered by a computer program designed by David Rayna. The CD also features Wada, Bob Drombowski and Wayne Hankin on bagpipes, plus Michael Pugliese (percussion). Dramatically structured, shifting and intense, The Appointed Cloud features massive low frequencies and regal percussion vying with the ululations of bagpipes, all resounding in the huge, reverberant space of the Great Hall with its 24-meter ceiling. This CD, the second Yoshi Wada release as a joint production of EM Records and Omega Point (the first being the reissue of 1982s Lament For The Rise and Fall of the Elephantine Crocodile), is sure to delight all who enjoy drones, dynamics and drama. "His creation explores the effects of low, rumbling bass sounds and the higher, ringing tones of the organ as they reverberate off the curving walls of the space ... The work continues Wadas fascination with producing sub-sonic sounds -- sound frequencies so low that it seems the sounds are produced by the inner ear rather than an outside source. "- EM
Artist: WADA, YOSHI Title: Off The Wall Format: CD Label: EM Country: Japan Price: $21.00
"More Yoshi Wada from EM Records! The long-awaited reissue of Wadas 1985 LP Off The Wall, recorded in Berlin and originally released on the esteemed FMP-subsidiary SAJ label. A minimalist yet majestic monsterpiece ("massive," as Tom Johnson declares in his perceptive liner notes), Off The Wall features Wada and Wayne Hankin on bagpipes, Marilyn Bogerd on adapted organ, and percussionist Andreas Schmidt-Neri. The original album consisted of two side-long pieces recorded on successive days by Jost Geber, who captured the power and dynamics of the quartet without losing the meditative delicacy of the bagpipes and the intricacy of their interplay with the homemade organ (constructed by Wada), resulting in a slowly-evolving mosaic of combination tones and overtones. Simultaneously static yet changing, rooted and ethereal, homespun and alien, ancient and very modern, the music is created entirely with acoustic instruments but has "electronic" textures at times, yet is very warm and human, always pulsing, shifting and mutating. Em Records is pleased indeed to release Off The Wall for the first time ever on CD, with the bonus track "Die Konsonanten Pfeifen," a slightly earlier recording with Wada and Hankin on bagpipes and Kevin Newhoff on percussion, originally released as a cassette." - Em Records

"First-time ever reissue of rare evil psycho machine-funk from 80s Washington, D.C., including previously-unreleased mixes. Now is not the time to doubt your senses -- the Wicked Witch does exist. Born and raised in the musical magical cauldron of Washington D.C., Wicked Witch combines elements from alchemical mentors Parliament Funkadelic, Sun Ra, ESG, Run DMC, James Brown and Jimi Hendrix to cast a crazed spell on the innocent listener. An evil mass of machine-funk with lashings of rhythm and blues and fusion delivered direct from the heart of the Witch, a misunderstood psycho-genius weaving his solo web deep within the dark studio walls. Trained by masters at the Duke Ellington School of the Arts, Wicked Witch is in full control; he plays all, knows all, tells all. His message will not be denied. Believe your ears, believe your eyes: the Wicked Witch does indeed exist. First-time ever re-issue, remastered from the original master tapes, including rare photos." -EM
Artist: WADA, YOSHI Title: Earth Horns With Electronic Drone Format: Triple LP Label: EM Country: Japan Price: $68.00
| "Triple LP version of the entire 162-minute performance -- the vinyl version therefore contains approx 85 additional minutes of music!. | Artist: WADA, YOSHI Title: Earth Horns With Electronic Drone Format: CD Label: EM Country: Japan Price: $21.00 |
"Yoshi Wada and EM Records presents the first-ever, world-premiere release of Earth Horns With Electronic Drone, recorded live in 1974. Combining four of Wadas self-made "pipehorns" (made from plumbing materials, over three meters in length), with an electronic drone tuned to the electrical current of the performance space, this is a lost masterpiece of early minimalism, placing Wada rightfully in the pantheon with La Monte Young, Phill Niblock, Maryanne Amacher and Alvin Lucier. Recorded live in Syracuse, New York, this recording captures the room-filling complex overtones generated by the ever-shifting interplay of the breathing horns and the constant electronic drone. This is a music of ritual hypnotic power, its heavy low-end mass and sense of change within constancy engendering a meditative transcendency. Earth Horns With Electronic Drone is the fourth and ultimate release in Em Records Yoshi Wada series, a must for all fans of minimalism, heavy drones, ritual, mystery and world-shaking transcendence. From an original performance of almost three hours, the CD features a 77-minute excerpt. The full performance is also available as a 3LP set (162 minutes). From Earth horns to beyond the firmament: prepare to be elevated! Pipehorns constructed by Yoshi Wada; electronic equipment designed by Liz Phillips and Yoshi Wada; Electronics: Liz Phillips; Pipehorn Players: Jim Burton, Garrett List, Barbara Stewart and Yoshi Wada. 96khz/24bit digitally remastered, including a booklet with text in Japanese & English, and a reproduction circa-1975 Fluxus poster by George Maciunas." -EM
Artist: YOUNG, ROLAND P. Title: Isophonic Boogie Woogie Format: LP Label: EM Country: Japan Price: $21.00
"Long-awaited, newly repressed for vinyl LP edition of the legendary 5-track first LP from U.S. horn wizard & original underground FM radio DJ Roland P. Young, featuring soprano sax, clarinet, and electronically-processed bass clarinet. Youngs mid-70s work with jazz/chamber/electronic ensemble Infinite Sound (including members Glenn Howell and Aisha Kahlil) helped form the musical language of Isophonic Boogie Woogie, a solo, jazz/world music-flecked exploration of acoustic and electronic sounds. An enjoyable outing from a neglected musician. Cosmic Afro-minimal electronic winds recorded in late 1970s San Francisco. CD version re-released in 2005 on Em Records." -EM
Artist: JAMAL CREATIVE ARTS ENSEMBLE, THE KHAN Title: Drum Dance To The Motherland Format: LP Label: EM Country: Japan Price: $22.00
"A special treat for the vinyl hounds! The long-awaited first vinyl reissue of The Khan Jamal Creative Arts Ensembles almost-impossible-to-find, 300 copies only, 1972 Drum Dance To The Motherland. Newly remastered and sounding great, this is a unique, uncategorizable expression of Afrocentric America -- freely-improvised (but not necessarily "free jazz"), pulsing, moving, restless, yet restful. Recorded live in the groups hometown of Philadelphia and originally released on the now-defunct Dogtown Records, the players masterfully combine all the currents of Afro-American music -- jazz, RnB, blues, funk and more -- in a manner not imitative of, but somehow informed by, the spiritually Afro-astral work of Sun Ra. Drums, percussion, bass, guitar, clarinets and the balaphon-influenced marimba and vibes of bandleader Khan Jamal are all wondrously-integrated and propelled into other dimensions by the heavy, dub-like use of live echo and reverb by "sixth member" sound engineer Mario Falana (dancer/actress Lola Falanas brother!). Trippy! There is an abundance of fine playing in these grooves: tasty guitar, propulsive bass lines, layers of percussion, wailing clarinets, Jamals vibes and marimba, all periodically carried farther out on waves of echo, and farther in via cavernous reverb. "Thirty years after its release, the albums tapestry of sound, fearless abstractions, relentless grooves, cool swing, flashes of ecstasy, and pan cultural embrace remain powerful and beyond category. This long overdue reissue rescues from obscurity a really stunning document of musical exploration, a classic session that perhaps now will acquire the status it has always deserved." --From the liner notes by Ed Hazell; Khan Jamal (vibraphone, marimba, clarinet); Alex Ellison (drums, percussion); Dwight James (drums, glockenspiel, clarinet); Billy Mills (Fender bass, double bass); Monnette Sudler (guitar, percussion)." - EM
Artist: GUTHRIE, NORA Title: Emilys Illness/Home Before Dark Format: 7" Label: EM Country: Japan Price: $13.00
"Nora Guthries ultra-rare "Emilys Illness" is a lost gem of songcraft originally released in 1967, now reissued in the same 7" vinyl format (b/w "Home Before Dark") as the original. Featuring the pure vocals of the 17-year-old daughter of Woody Guthrie, "Emilys Illness" was written by Eric Eisner (The Strangers) and impeccably arranged by Artie Schroeck. A romantic collaboration of psychedelia, pop, and acid-folk, but informed by the harmonic and rhythmic developments of João Gilberto and jazz." - EM.
Artist: ALTZ Title: Escape: The Reconstruction of Isophonic Boogie Woogie Format: CD Label: EM Country: Japan Price: $19.00
"Intergenerational gene-splicing from EM Records. Roland P. Youngs classic Isophonic Boogie Woogie (EM 1045CD/HJ-JP) is tripped-out, minimalist, spiritual free-jazz from 1980, and is here mutated, masticated and machined by Altz, the hotly-tipped renowned "organic electronicist" and producer/remixer from Osaka, Japan. Maintaining and magnifying the cosmic bliss-vibe of the original release, Altz lovingly massages Youngs sounds into the year 2009 (as experienced through Altzs patented acid-disco filtration system). Sounds are layered and treated, atmospheres extended, and propulsive elements from Youngs original recordings are bolstered (there is some fine drumming here from former Boredoms member, Muneomi Senju). Altz also respects Youngs more abstract side, following the elder master into atmospheres of freedom, unrestrained by the gravity of the beat and the conventions of the dancefloor. Rather than a mere roughshod remix, this release is a meeting -- Youngs San Francisco of the late 70s encountering Altz in Osaka in 2009. Young is respectfully and playfully transformed, but not trashed, and we all go home happy. Editing, programming, electric bass, guitar, synthesizer, noise and drum machine by Altz and disc-scratching by DJ Kensei." - EM.

Artist: COLLINS, NICOLAS Title: Devils Music Format: CD/CD-ROM Label: EM Country: Japan Price: $25.00
"EM Records presents the CD and vinyl reissue of U.S. experimental electro-acoustic artist/circuit bender Nicolas Collins live radio sampling masterpiece, Devils Music, originally released on vinyl in 1986. Born and raised in New York City, Nicolas Collins has been hugely influential in contemporary electronic music, having performed world-wide for many years, collaborating with Christian Marclay, Elliot Sharp, David Shea, David Tudor and John Zorn, composing, recording, modifying circuits and inventing instruments, and spreading the good word through his writing (Handmade Electronic Music -- The Art Of Hardware Hacking 2nd Edition; Routledge, 2009) and teaching (Department of Sound, School of the Art Institute of Chicago). The pieces released here are only part of his ongoing, multifaceted and truly experimental activities. This edition of Devils Music is served up in all its stuttering glory, a time capsule of the mid-80s New York City airwaves, acclaimed by Philip Sherburne as "an early template for techno," with a feel somewhat akin to scratching turntablist madness, a block-rocking party put through a blender and re-assembled by body-popping demons. Also included is "Real Landscape," a 1987 "remix" recorded in Europe (originally released on cassette), and (CD-only) "The Spark Heard Round The World," a fascinating tape piece sourced from multi-band radio and scanner recordings, plus a video of a live performance of "Devils Music" from 1987 in Birmingham, Alabama. And if youre still not satisfied, CD purchasers also get a downloadable software version of the original hardware circuitry used for Devils Music which, a la David Tudor, constitutes the original composition itself. Make your own "Devils Music!" Devils Music is available on 2LP vinyl in a gatefold sleeve, and double CD in a triple-gatefold sleeve (with bonus audio track plus CD-Extra and software). 24-bit digitally remastered; containing a booklet with text in English & Japanese, including rare photos." -EM

Artist: RUTHERFORD, PAUL Title: Solo In Berlin 1975 Format: CD Label: Emanem Country: UK Price: $19.00
"Recorded a year after his acclaimed masterpiece, The Gentle Harm of the Bourgeoisie, these three festival sets are at least as good. They find Rutherford at his most original and inventive, making wild music by enhancing his trombone with his voice, with mutes and other objects, as well as using his awesome speed and stunning range. No one else has made the trombone sound like this, before or since. 75 minutes. (5 minutes originally on an FMP sampler -- the rest is previously unissued)." - Emanem

Artist: RUSTED SHUT Title: Rehab Format: CD Label: Emperor Jones Country: USA Price: $13.00
"The latest in repetitive naplam obliteration from Texas crust-grind filth-heads RUSTED SHUT. Thirteen over-amped tracks of maximum scuzz and infectious scorn delivered with genuine hatred. Fans of Cherubs, Brainbombs, High Rise and Lightning Bolt will all die happier."

"The debut solo release from former ASH CASTLES ON THE GHOST COAST member and current IRON KITE and RUBBLE player SHAWN DAVID McMILLEN. Five epic, mostly instrumental songs performed with bowed bass and metal, Indian goat bells, analog synth, a rusty old autoharp, amplified springs and an abundance of guitars. Features guest appearances by BC SMITH (Iron Kite, ETHEREAL PLANES INDIAN) and MATT MARTINEZ (FRIDAY GROUP). One-time vinyl-only edition of 500 copies, packaged with eye-blistering artwork by McMillen reproduced in a sickening black cast created with multiple passes of ink." -Emperor Jones
Artist: DRY SPELLS Title: Too Soon for Flowers Format: LP Label: Empty Cellar Country: USA Price: $14.00
"Too Soon For Flowers marks the debut of San Franciscos female fronted psych-folk ensemble, THE DRY SPELLS. Recorded by TIM GREEN (Fucking Champs), and featuring members of CITAY and SONNY & THE SUNSETS, this album is an impressive set of genre-defying compositions. Existing somewhere near the sonic intersection of Fairport Convention, Fleetwood Mac, and some heavy spaced-out dub, Too Soon For Flowers transitions effortlessly between eastern-influenced sustenatos, ethereal folk, and fuzzed-out psychedelic crescendos. Recommended for fans of Linda Perhacs, Cocteau Twins, & Espers, this woodsy album evokes numerous influences in the process of immersing the listener in something that is altogether new and mysterious. Keeping with the times, the LP comes with a high-quality digital download of the full album including The Dry Spells stunning rendition of Fleetwood Macs "Rhiannon." Limited to 500 copies." - Empty Cellar.

Artist: AGENT SIDE GRINDER Title: Agent Side Grinder Format: 7" Label: Enfant Terrible Country: Netherlands Price: $11.00
"Agent Side Grinder is one the most promising new bands in the field of contemporary minimal electronic music. Their music is firmly rooted in the post-punk, new wave, minimal electronics and industrial tradition and they are following in pioneers footsteps of the likes of Silver Apples, Suicide, Throbbing Gristle and Liaisons Dangereuses. No laptops and backing tapes or such things are used. All is done in real time with analogue synths, rhythm boxes and tape loops... in the studio and live on stage... Agent Side Grinder is the new breed for today! This is the second release on the Petit Enfant series for 7" releases only. The artwork and packaging is done by Dutch artist Edwin Stoutjesdijk (also known as dj Kramp from our Hex parties)..." -Enfant Terrible.
Artist: AFTER THE SNOW Title: Fracture Format: LP Label: Enfant Terrible Country: Netherlands Price: $20.00
"On his debut LP After The Snow (this artist was already present on Enfant04: Electronic Renaissance) presents to the world his visions and feelings translated into dark, ritualistic and invocative minimal electronics. In his sound you will discover that After The Snow works within the old industrial and new wave tradition. And, his sound will remind you of early minimal electronic acts. Still he has a very unique and original sound of his own, made for the world of today... LP limited to 310 copies." - Enfant Terrible.
Artist: ACTOR, THE Title: Covergirl EP Format: 10" Label: Enfant Terrible Country: Netherlands Price: $19.00
"The Actor is one of the most famous, and also obscure, minimal wave acts from The Netherlands from the early 80s. Now, in 2005, The Actor has re-recorded their all time classic track Covergirl. Next to this new version of the track enfant03 also features the original 1982 version and two brilliant cover versions by the French masters of contemporary minimal electronic music: Porn.Darsteller and It & My Computer. Both these artists appear from the leading Invasion Planète Rec. label." - Enfant Terrible.
Artist: HERO WOUTERS Title: Muziek voor Leven en Dood Format: LP Label: Enfant Terrible Country: Netherlands Price: $22.00
"Psychedelic minimal electronics from the early 80s by Dutch artist Hero Wouters. The LP comes on crystal clear vinyl, with two inserts and a beautiful sleeve with an artwork by Maaike." -Enfant Terrible.
Artist: ICK Title: La parade des sans illusions Format: 7" Label: Enfant Terrible Country: Netherlands Price: $10.00
"The present is imperfect...ICK is a well know name in the industrial music world. Since a long time he is also involved in minimal electronic music. On this 7" EP ICK displays his perception on contemporary society. His dreams and fears about political power, youth and the future are crafted into fierce minimal elektro tracks with punk and industrial influences. This is the first release on the new Petit Enfant series. This series is for 7" releases only. The artwork is done by Dutch artist Edwin Stoutjesdijk." (Nonpop)
Artist: SOLITAIREN EFFEKTEN Title: S/T Format: 10" Label: Enfant Terrible Country: Netherlands Price: $20.00
"Neo romantic minimal wave with Neo Deutsche Welle touches. Six hits for you to dance and listen to..." - Enfant Terrible "Solitairen Effekten is more than influenced by the early 80s electronics, they simply try to emulate the total way of working of the pioneers. They dont use midi or computers, which is hardly imaginable today. The result is a pure 80s electronic sound like a mix of Front 242s “Geography”-period and German 80s bands (for the German vocals). The song “Ein kleines Stück Erinnerung” perfectly brings these old memories alive." - Side-Line
Artist: DOXA SINISTRA Title: Conveyer Belt Format: LP Label: Enfant Terrible Country: Netherlands Price: $25.00
"Doxa Sinistra was besides The Actor and Ende Shneafliet one of the more prominent acts on the Trumpett label in the 80s. Conveyer Belt is simply one of the best pieces of experimental and industrial music released in that era. Even today this music stands on its own and has lost nothing of it genius, originality and impact." - Enfant Terrible
Artist: AGENT SIDE GRINDER Title: s/t Format: LP Label: Enfant Terrible Country: Netherlands Price: $26.00
"We do not exagerate when we say that this record by Swedish band Agent Side Grinder has been awaited for. The response to their debut single, and their contribution to the "Hoera! Een Hex voor thuis!" compilation LP, has been overwhelmingly positive. There has been written and said that a full lenght album is eagerly awaited. Enfant Terrible is very happy to pressent this debut album. The band plays real industrial music in the style of Cabaret Voltaire, mix it with some proto-punk in the Suicide way, fuse this with the energy of early EBM reminiscent of The Klinik and top this with psychedelic touches that can be traced back to The Doors. The result is an unique, contemporary and fresh sound that will appeal to fans of industrial, elektro, old style EBM and krautrock alike. Also Agent Side Grinde has already proven to be a great live band, with only analogue equipement on stage." - Enfant Terrible
Artist: V/A Title: Festival Der Genialen Dissidenten Format: LP + 7" Label: Enfant Terrible Country: Netherlands Price: $28.00
"The compilation Festival der Genialen Dissidenten can be considered as a sort of sequel to the highly acclaimed and long time sold out collectors piece and cult LP Electronic Renaissance (Enfant04). Especially realized for the Enfant Terrible label night (12 april 2008 in Bruxelles) is the 7" release by Wermut. The following artists are present on the compilation: Agent Side Grinder – known for their releases on Enfant Terrible. Dolina – very promising new elektro band from France/Belgium. Vincent K. – also known as RA-X, established and long time producer of electronic music. Nosztalgia Direktíva – new alias of artist who previously released on Invasion Planete Records. Adolf Filter – Swedish duo who create elektro and EBM influenced analogue tracks. :Codes – Belgian act who released on a Kommando 6 compilation but is now working with Enfant Terrible. Le Triangle De LAndrogyne – interesting new commer on Enfant Terrible with spacious electronica. Pierre Normal – Belgian / French band who play poetic electronic music. Yseult Descieux – playful and weird band from Belgium/France. Jongbloed featuring Sofia E.R. – Enfant Terrible boss and Wermut member collaboration. Coeurvert – twisted elektro chansons from Belgium" - Enfant Terrible
Artist: V/A Title: Trumpett Days Format: LP Label: Enfant Terrible Country: Netherlands Price: $25.00
"After the highly acclaimed and already long time sold out Trumpett Sounds (Enfant02) compilation Enfant Terrible presents the second (and last) collection of sounds from the legendary Dutch 80s tape label Trumpett. This time we went deeper into the Trumpett archive and came out with some material even the Trumpett gatekeeper forgot about. Trumpett Days is maybe a little bit weirder as its predecessor (even though it also features some excellent dance tunes), it will make the true minimal electronics heart beat faster for sure!!!" - Enfant Terrible
Artist: VAN ACKER, LUC Title: VPRO RadioNome December 18 1981 Format: LP Label: Enfant Terrible Country: Netherlands Price: $25.00
"Luc Van Acker is all except an obscure musician. Already from his solo records in the early 80s he has been building a name for himself as a multi talented musician and performer. While his early works are rather experimental he later joined forces with other musicians (who have become famous with bands like Front 242 and Ministry) to create a more rock orientated industrial / electronic act called Revolting Cocks. The session on this record is from 1981 and thus a very early piece of music in the discography of Luc Van Acker. For this occasion he performed with live electronics, a violin and various other gadgets and tools. The music must be seen as somewhere in between old style industrial music (thus experimental) and modern classical music. This live performance takes the listener from rhythmic pieces into more soundscape like baths of sound and was done as part of the legendary RadioNome radioshow broadcasted by the VPRO in the early 80s. The session has been tranfered from the original tape and is edited and re-mastered to make it available for a new audience. The liner notes have been written by Luc Van Acker himself." -- Enfant Terrible. Limited to 520 copies.
Artist: KAA ANTILOPE Title: VPRO RadioNome April 2 1982 Format: LP Label: Enfant Terrible Country: Netherlands Price: $25.00
"Kaa Antilope from Belgium is possibly one of the better kept secrets from the 1980s. Known to few people but loved by those. The reason is simple... this band was unique with their wonderful neo romantic, playful and melancholy sound. Their songs are best described as experimental synthpop with a poetic touch. Only one 7" record was released in 1982. Even today their music stands out with its very special sound of its own. There has not been a single other band since the 1980s that can be compared to Kaa Antilope. This live studio session was done as part of the legendary RadioNome radioshow broadcasted by the VPRO in the early 80s. The session has been tranfered from the original tape and is edited and re-mastered to make it available for the ultimate listening pleasure the songs ask for. The liner notes have been written by a close companion of the musicians / member of Pseudo Code." -Enfant Terrible. Limited to 500 copies.
Artist: BRONZE Title: One Night In Mexico/ Hymn of the Night Shepherd Format: 7" Label: Enfant Terrible Country: Netherlands Price: $11.00
"...the band hollows out the inside of an ARP 2600 and rides its plastic carcass all the way into the pits of hell, picking up the bones of a million dead post-punk/synth-punk bands along the way. Youll be picking pieces of Throbbing Gristle out of your teeth as "One Night in Mexico" shifts gears from menacing to terrifying, a barrage of white hot synth shrapnel and lacerating guitars threatening to take you head off even before you can flip the record. The B-Side isnt any tamer, with a whiplash rhythm that cant sit still for more than a second, perhaps thats because its getting poked, rammed and prodded with all manner of scorpion synth stabs and screaming that sounds like it was recorded through a trash compactor." - Impose Magazine. Edition of 300 copies.
Artist: SCORPION VIOLENTE/THE DREAMS Title: Split Format: 7" Label: Enfant Terrible Country: Netherlands Price: $11.00
"...Scorpion Violente is up first, and seeing that they share members with The Anals, you might think you know what theyre going to sound like, but they take a left turn into dizzyingly dour minimal electro with a dadaist flair, especially on "Force de Droite", a filter-crammed blast of raw electronic gurgling and futuristic intent. On the flip, The Dreams trade in a similar brand of electronic fury, and their sole contribution here, "Tropique de Cancer" is a scorcher, filled with short-circuiting electronics and all manner of Hades-scraping atmospherics and harsh oscillating vibes." - Impose Magazine. Edition of 300 copies.
Artist: VOICE CRACK Title: Shock_Late Format: LP Label: Entenpfuhl Country: GERMANY Price: $13.00
Artist: VISIBLE/INVISIBLE WALL Title: Distant Realities 1 Format: Cass Label: Enterruption Country: USA Price: $6.00
"Levi hails from an insolated coastal town in Alaska, pop.300+ in summer, pop.70+ in winter. He grew up around cold sea, endless forests, glaciers bigger than most breadboxes by far, endless ice-fields, endless days and endless nights. All of these influences can be heard in the sounds that this guy busts forth. Levi has been a big creative influence around these parts – he was a forming member of the band I roll with: Blue Sabbath Black Cheer; and his art has adorned our walls for months now. Visible/Invisible Wall is Levi being Levi: endless minimalist stoned sounds and a societal misanthropic philosophy. Good stuff. Even Richard Rupenis, the mastermind behind The New Blockaders, is a fan of V/IW." - Enterruption.
Artist: VISIBLE/INVISIBLE WALL Title: Numbered 7 & 8 Format: Cass Label: Enterruption Country: USA Price: $6.00
"These tapes, the V/IW and Demonlore, are from Levis short-lived uber-limited tape label, Numbered Tapes. Since hes moving back to his hometown in Alaska he gave us the masters at our insistence (and Stentorian Tapes as well) so that we could re-release them - a couple of the Numbered Tapes were in editions of 5x. This is more of Levis minimalist knife-hits noise jams, inspired by the bear bones he found half-buried in the frozen tundra near his home in Alaska." - Enterruption.

Artist: BURMESE Title: Monkeys Tear Man To Shreds, Man Never Forgives Ape, Man Destroys Enviroment Format: LP Label: Enterruption Country: USA Price: $12.00
"Completely raw and brutal dual damaged bass and drums attack from the legendary and infamous Burmese. Recorded in 2000 at their rehearsal space in Oakland on 8 track reel-to-reel by yours truly, wm.Rage, a few weeks or month before they recorded their debut CD release for Tumult Records: same material, different recordings. This LP also includes from the same session their BLISTERING cover version of Black Flags "Ive Heard It Before" - previously released on their "Treaties of Greed and Filth" 7". Mastered by Scott Colburn. Edition 500x copies, red vinyl." - Enterruption.
Artist: VENROOY, ESTHER Title: Shift Coordinate Points Format: LP Label: Entracte Country: UK Price: $20.00
| “K9 moved back into the combat area — Standing now in the Chinese youth sent the resistance message jolting clicking tilting through the pinball machine — Enemy plans exploded in a burst of rapid calculations — Clicking in punch cards of redirected orders — Crackling shortwave static — Word falling — Photo falling — Break through in Grey Room – Pinball led streets – Free doorways –” In 1997, British maverick label Irdial-Discs collected a selection of so-called numbers stations or spy stations recordings under the title The Conet Project. This plays like a best of of more than 30 years worth of secret radio and contains fragments of American, German, Swedish and Russian transmissions. Belgian composer Esther Venrooy was given permission to work with the material and for the occasion of the celebration of 75 years of Belgian radio created a highly personal interpretation of the mediums secret history. Using manipulated sound and collage techniques she manages to distill an abstract poetry of sounds and thereby succeeds in extracting some meaning out of these hermetic transmissions." - Entracte. | Artist: RAIONBASHI Title: Cloral Works I & II Format: One Sided LP Label: Entracte Country: UK Price: $24.00 |

Artist: DJ ORDEAL Title: Sea/Seagull Format: LP Label: Entracte Country: UK Price: $20.00
"DJ Ordeal has been creating his progressively strange tape collages for the best part of a decade. Following more than a dozen releases, Sea/Seagull may well be his oddest recording yet. Based on a multi-tracked and speeded-up vocal riff, played alongside recordings of sea breakers, voices, orchestral and seagull sounds, this is a painstakingly constructed audio tapestry. LP; first edition of 200 copies." - Entracte. Recently collaborated with Vitamin B12.
Artist: IOVAE/THREE LEGGED RACE Title: Heliofugue/Calling Order Format: 7" Label: Epicene Country: USA Price: $5.50
"Two of my favorite modern noise makers from the states have to be HAIR POLICE and IOVAE. This is very close to being a split from both. IOVAE is Ron Orovitz also known as the D.J. on ART DAMAGE RADIO, a memeber of the no-wave nosie group DEATH BEAM, a noise weirdos WILD GUNMAN. For IOVAEs track we get slow churning crackle, pop and hiss from the "Grinder" (a series of ancient military oscillators) that builds into what sounds like the church bell tones of a satanic mass echoing through the devils canyon. 3 LEGGED RACE is Robert from HAIR POLICE and EYES AND ARMS OF SMOKE. For the Race side we get one ominous heavenly droning swelling tone which is given the extreme reverb treatment until it sounds like a white washed blissed out radiant hum. The artwork was designed by Robert and is a must see. One sheet of lines with a transparency of lines. but when one is placed over the othere, you start to see a hidden image. Also just moving the transparency around on top of the other page makes alot of tripped out intersecting lines. like i said one you have to see, def one of the best looking, most intresting covers in EPICENE history. Limited edition of 300 copies, split release with Mark of Black Tents Gentian label." - Epicene.
Artist: ORTHRELM Title: OV Format: LP Label: Epicene Country: USA Price: $12.00
"DCs Orthrelm is Mick Barr (Crom-tech, Quix*o*tic, Octis and more) on guitar and Josh Blair (ABCS, WWIII, Supersystem) on drums. With three full-lengths under their belt, they join the Ipecac Recordings roster with OV, a one-track album that spans 45-minutes and multiple musical genres. Orthrelms first recordings avoided repetition of any kind, no choruses, no riff repeated. The early material distilled the over-the-top, raging parts of metal. Music moved at a blistering pace, never giving the listener a moment to relax, no resolutions and no familiarity. There were more notes than the listener could ever possibly absorb. With OV, Orthrelm embraces repetition.... sort of. While metal still undeniably influences Mick and Joshs music, this new recording equally evokes flavors of the Middle East and the early minimalism of Tony Conrad." Vinyl issue of the Ipecac CD.

Artist: BAKER, AIDAN Title: Gathering Blue Format: Double LP Label: Equation Country: USA Price: $28.00
"A work of blissful delight. Aidan Baker provides four sides of enchantment in this long-in-the-making 2LP set. Gathering Blue provides new original material plus a stunning cover of the Joy Division track 24 Hours as well as an extended work-out of the amazing remix of The Cicada Sings Our Love Song by Building Castles Out Of Matchsticks, which was originally released in 2005 on the ultra-limited and long-deleted Arcolepsy Records CD Remixes. This really is Aidan Baker at his very best and a record that is sure to charm. Comes in a gatefold sleeve, numbered card insert and pressed on heavy 180g virgin vinyl." - Equation
Artist: SEARCH PARTY, THE Title: Montgomery Chapel Format: CD Label: Erebus Country: UK Price: $19.00
"Fantastic new release on Erebus Records containing a 4-page booklet with band info. A primitive Christian folk-rock LP which hits some truly unique moods and sounds on about 2/3rds of the tracks. Obviously inspired by the West Coast psychedelic sounds of the era, The Search Party take compositions by their spiritual mentor, a Catholic middle-aged priest, and turn them into primitive California garage folk rock and psych with fuzz leads and raw vocals! Most Christian folk-rock LPs suffer from still having one foot left in Sunday School, but these young seminarians have definitely broken through to the other side. Side 1 ends with an unparalleled 9-minute downer folk-rock excursion with heavy soul-searching lyrics that alone makes Montgomery Chapel worth checking out, but beware -- its crude, even the female vocalist has a strange edge. Unrehearsed confessions from a basement Music Emporium." -Acid Archives
Artist: JAMAL CREATIVE ARTS ENSEMBLE, KHAN Title: Drumdance to the Motherland Format: CD Label: Eremite Country: USA Price: $14.50
"Classic reissue of this 1974 private press album!" - FE. "Theres not another record on the planet that sounds even remotely like vibraphonist Khan Jamals eccentric, one-of-a-kind masterpiece, Drumdance to the Motherland. In its improbable fusion of free jazz expressionism, Black psychedelia, & full-on dub-like production techniques, Drumdance remains a bracingly powerful outsider statement thirty-four years after it was recorded live at the Catacombs Club in Philadelphia in 1972. Comparisons to Sun Ra, King Tubby, Phil Cohran & BYG/Actuel merely hint at the cosmic otherness conjured by the band & by recording engineer Mario Falanas real-time enhancements. The first edition of three hundred copies, issued by Jamal in 1973 on the local Philadelphia label Dogtown, was barely distributed outside the citys limits. Since then Drumdance has assumed a mythic status among the very few aficionados, eBay mutants, & heads who know of it at all. Hallelujah that it can finally be heard outside their murky inner-sanctums!" - Eremite. Highly recommended!
Artist: SOLIDARITY UNIT, INC Title: Red, Black & Green Format: LP Label: Eremite Country: USA Price: $28.00
"Originally produced & issued by Charles Bobo Shaw himself, Red, Black & Green, by the band Solidarity Unit, Inc. documents what happened at The Bag Room in St. Louis, MO, the day Jimi Hendrix died. Captured in a gloriously blunt & low-res recording that is as stark as the B&W cover art, Shaw & the ten piece group produce a raw, teeming, clattering sound that never relinquishes. Lake & Bowie were by this time already powerful soloists, & both declaim fervently & damn near relentlessly over Shaws swaggering themes. Dead at age 34 & recorded just four times, guitarist Richard Martins performance is a true revelation; as Martin leaps from blues idioms to screaming attacks to pure howling feedback, one wonders if even Sonny Sharrock reached these places with the instrument. Furious kit & hand drumming, violently rattling little instruments, jabbing percussive Rhodes, thundering bass guitar -- these guys dont hold back! Easy to say lost underground free jazz classic, but thats the real story here. The music was remastered from the best available sources by Mike King (Reel Recordings), pressed on premium HQ-180 gram vinyl by RTI, & presented in a heavyweight Stoughton replica sleeve in an edition of 600." -Eremite
Artist: YOSHIDA, AMI/CHRISTOF KURZMANN Title: aso Format: CD Label: Erstwhile Country: USA Price: $14.00
"Ami Yoshida and Christof Kurzmann are both well-respected artists within the international community, each performing in a wide range of contexts from abstract to pure pop. Both are best known for their long-running duos, Yoshida for Cosmos (with Sachiko M) and Kurzmann for schnee (with Burkhard Stangl). This project finds them in far less comfortable territory, and a s o is the outcome of two years of hard work. a s o contains recordings from the first meeting of Yoshida and Kurzmann in March 2004. The collaboration was a difficult one, partly because of their wildly different backgrounds and partly because of the communication issues due to their language differences. Four translators helped the project along over the course of the two years it took to make this record (Taku Unami, Toshimaru Nakamura, Yuko Zama and Kae Uchihashi). Although it was a long and complicated journey, the end result is very organic and accomplished. a s o contains an extremely broad range of abstract approaches from both artists, resulting in a wildly different soundworld from any of their previous recordings, and has been beautifully captured as always by recording engineer Christoph Amann. The impeccably minimal yet lush CD design is by Hirozumi Takeda, utilizing images provided by Asuna." - Erstwhile.
Artist: LAMBKIN, GRAHAM & JASON LESCALLEET Title: The Breadwinner Format: CD Label: Erstwhile Country: USA Price: $13.50
"Graham Lambkin and Jason Lescalleet are both highly respected artists, with small but intensely hardcore followings. Since 2001, theyve been gradually moving closer towards realizing a collaborative project, and The Breadwinner is the results of two years of recording, reworking and polishing. Lambkin first entered the public consciousness at 19 when he formed his band The Shadow Ring, in Folkestone, a small town in Kent, England. The band was memorable and built an rabidly passionate fan base because of its sui generis approach, blending elements of folk, noise, cracked electronics, and surrealist poetry, while radically changing the overall formula with each release. A decade of increasingly skewed and inspired work culminated in 2003s Im Some Songs, constructed long distance as Lambkin had relocated to the US in 1998. Over the last few years, Lambkin has primarily worked under his own name, most notably with 2007s brilliant Salmon Run, a precursor to The Breadwinner. Lescalleet has gradually and painstakingly built a compelling discography over the past decade. He uses reel-to-reel tape decks to explore the textures of low fidelity analog sounds and the natural phenomena of old tape and obsolete technology. He is one of a growing list of master producer/musicians, whose skill lies as much in reworking, assembling and mastering the material available as in creating it (or helping create it) in the first place. He has worked with such wide-ranging artists as Ron Lessard, Joe Colley and Phill Niblock, and has released a string of superb solo discs in Mattresslessness (Cut), Electronic Music (RRR) and The Pilgrim (Glistening Examples). This is his second release for Erstwhile, after 2001s Forlorn Green (w/Greg Kelley), and his third is already in preparation, a duo with Bhob Rainey, planned for release in early 2009. The material for The Breadwinner was recorded at Lambkins house in upstate NY, over two recording sessions. The duo treated the entire building and its surrounding grounds as a studio, welcoming in outside sounds, which were later kept or eliminated as they felt appropriate. The subtitle on the front cover is “musical settings for common environments and domestic situations”, layering numerous submerged fragments to find beauty in everyday life." -Erstwhile
Artist: ASKEW, ED Title: Ask The Unicorn Format: CD Label: ESP Disk Country: Italy Price: $16.00
"First time on CD for this ultra sought-after 1969 album by outsider folksinger ED ASKEW. Playing a ten-string lute-like instrument called a tiple, Askew creates a psychedelic folk masterpiece. One of the most bizarre and wonderful albums released by ESP." - ESP Disk.
Artist: SEVENTH SONS Title: Raga (4 A.M. At Franks) Format: CD Label: ESP Disk Country: Italy Price: $16.00
"First reissue in a while of this classic ESP stoned-folk oddity (recorded in 1964, released 1968 just before the world collapsed). One long track, 31 minutes (original tape hiss preserved) - asking for bonus material would be akin to asking for another piece of Christ the next time youre in line at church, so dont thnk that way!" - FE. "Perhaps the first band to do Indian raga with an electric rock band line up, The Seventh Sons released this very collectible album on ESP-Disk. Featuring guitarist and vibraphonist Buzzy Linhart, The Seventh Sons also served as folk-rock artist Fred Neils backing band for a time in the mid-60s." - ESP Disk
Artist: HOWARD & JOE PHILLIPS, NORMAN Title: Burn Baby Burn Format: CD Label: ESP-Disk Country: USA Price: $13.50
"Featured artists: Norman Howard (trumpet); Joe Phillips (alto saxophone); Cornelius Milsap (percussion); Walter Cliff (bass). Thought to have been lost, ESP recently recovered this master tape by Norman Howard (once side man to Albert Ayler), and is now releasing this exceptional album for the first time. Digitally remastered. Manufactured in the USA by the original label. Never before released studio recording." -ESP-Disk "Flame-throwing trumpeter Norman Howard has been long lost in the American free jazz void. He appeared on Albert Aylers Spirits alongside heavyweights Sunny Murray and Henry Grimes in 1964, and penned the tune Witches & Devils. In the year of freedom, 1968, he cut apparently his only sides as a leader, which were unreleased and vaulted for twenty years. Furthering the legend, 1988 saw an ill-circulated, microscopic 100-copy cassette run from the Scottish Homeboy label, who had acquired the master tapes. In 1997, Henry Rollins was rumored to have bought the tapes and earmarked them for release on his 2.13.61 label, but Bernard Stollmanns resurrected ESP-Disk -- who the tapes apparently originally belonged to -- has now overtaken the undertaking. Rivaled only by Don Aylers legendary ca. 1968 unreleased session for Amiri Barakas Jihad label as the most prayed for, prime-era reissue by an otherwise unrecorded band leader from the riot time, this blown-out, sidewinding freedom scrawl has finally found its way home. Now dig." -Kris Price
Artist: YXIMALLOO Title: Unpop Format: CD Label: ESP-Disk Country: USA Price: $14.00
"Yximalloo is a one-man mysterious phenomenon. He has maintained obscurity, even though he has been making and recording music since the 1970s and his champions include artists as diverse as Jad Fair (Half Japanese), Momus, and members of Animal Collective. This is Yximalloos first recording in 9 years, and it is his first to include his one-man-band sound of guitar, laptop and vocals. It builds on his primitive trance-like rhythms mixed with offbeat pop sensibilities by way of crude electronic sampling. A true masterpiece, a modern-day Moondog off the streets of present-day Tokyo, London, NYC, and wherever you happen to be." "Hes John Lee Hooker with a synth, Wild Man Fischer with a bone. Hes totally central and totally unknown." -- Momus. 8-page booklet with notes by Momus and art by Jad Fair." -ESP-Disk
Artist: BARNACLED Title: Charles Format: CD Label: ESP-Disk Country: USA Price: $14.00
"Contemporary group from Providence on ESP-Disk! "Charles, Barnacleds new full-length, and first outing for ESP-Disk, is a rollicking, propulsive offering featuring the band in some of its most intricate formations. This deftly arranged record follows Barnacled as it tightens itself into high corners, only to purposely fall down, find new ground, and pick itself back up again. This work is highly playful, even at its most intense -- and it does get intense, with saxophone battles surging over electronics and highly distorted accordion fire offerings. Then all of a sudden the sound drops out, save for a plaintive lone bassoon call, or static from a short-wave radio that sounds soothing by comparison. Intertwining rhythms and melody lines then revolve around a pulse that creates a new frame of reference while also complicating it. This music invites deep listening, and rewards the curious. Often it is simply mesmerizing, essentially what adventurous minds have come to expect from the legendary ESP-Disk oeuvre." -ESP-Disk
Artist: CROMAGNON Title: Cave Rock Format: CD Label: Esp-Disk Country: USA Price: $14.00
"Already commercially successful as tune-smiths for teenyboppers, Austin Grasmere and Brian Elliot approached Bernard Stollman looking to focus their talents on something more original and unrestrained. Stollman asked, What would be your theme? and Elliot replied: Everything is one. Bernard said, Go do it. What followed was Cromagnons (Grasmere, Elliot and the Connecticut Tribe) non-linear journey through the subconscious, weaving together bizarre instrumentation and meter with a psychotic blending of musical styles. Bagpipes, pounding percussion, blood-curdling yelps, chanting, laughing, and billowing subterranean rumblings create the otherworldly soundscape that is Cave Rock. Heralded as one of the best freak-out records of all time, Cave Rock was ridiculously ahead of its time and brings to mind the savage sound-fuckery of Nurse with Wound and Throbbing Gristle as well as the hallucinations of early Red Krayola. Manufactured in the US by the original label. Digitally re-mastered; new digipak format with original artwork and album title." - ESP-Disk
Artist: +MINUS Title: Lécoute libéré Format: CDR Label: Esquilo Country: Portugal Price: $15.00
"Three tracks from three of the most interesting musicians operating in Europe and one of the most inventive groups to appear in the improvised music scene in recent years. The first number in the Variant Series is a very special presentation: each musician re-works the groups soundworld adding new dimensions to it. The pieces, either resultant from post-recording on un-released live recordings of +minus or the virtual assemblage of the band based on each musicians individual work, are all different - and different from their previous records on trente oiseaux. The whole works perfectly giving a sense that the music included in this record could have emerged naturally from one of the bands encounters. This edition comes in a red deluxe gatefold cardboard case with silk-screened original art and a short description of each track by the musicians themselves. Limited to 160 copies." - Esquilo. +minus is Bernhard Günter, Mark Wastell & Graham Halliwell.
| Artist: WOLF EYES Title: Six Arms and Sucks |Live in Porto| Format: CDR Label: Esquilo Country: Portugal Price: $15.00 |
"Recorded live in Porto this release shows a different side of Wolf Eyes. Clearly?uncomfortable for playing to a sitted audience, the band throws an unsetting 30?minutes long improvised track ranging from quiet moments - where scrapped?metal, electronics and horns melt - to the most explosive harsh noise and?guttural vocals.?But this was not the end. Without warning, Wolf Eyes start a 2 songs medley.?Both well know for the Wolfs concert goers. Minimal beats, distorted?guitars, cracked-up electronics and noisy vocals fill the remaining 20 minutes.?This edition comes in a gatefold cardboard sleeve with silkscreened original art?designed by Soopa?Limited to 200 copies." - Esquilo.
Artist: ROWE, KEITH / JULIEN OTTAVI / WILL GUTHRIE / MANU LEDUC Title: November Quebec Format: CDR Label: Esquilo Country: Portugal Price: $15.00
"The radio. Its possibilities and extensions. This is what (N:Q) explores: the use of the radio and its meanings. An electroacoustic ensemble, perpetually in movement, forging a soundworld of its own. Like airwaves transformed into music transformed into airwaves. The second number on the Variant Series presents the Radiophonic Quartet of Keith Rowe, Julien Ottavi, Will Guthrie and Manu Leduc in a truly unique release. Active since 2000, this is only the second release of the group - the follow up to the highly acclaimed self-titled on Fibrr. November Quebec comprises two tracks: a solo track by Keith Rowe, recorded live while being broadcasted; and that same piece as viewed by the Quartet. This edition comes in a blue deluxe gatefold cardboard sleeve with sikscreened original art by Keith Rowe. Limited to 250 copies." - Esquilo.
Artist: ROCKCELONA Title: La Bruja Format: LP Label: Estereo Fonico Country: Spain Price: $29.00
"Considered by many worldwide collectors as one of the best hard-rock albums ever, Rockcelonas La Bruja saw the light in 1978 and sank without trace. The band came from Barcelona and could be seen as one of the early Spanish proto-punk bands along with La Banda Trapera Del Rio. Killer sound with primitive English/Spanish vocals and heavy, and I mean heavy fuzz-wah wah assaults from start to finish! First time ever reissue with remastered sound and original artwork. A must!" -Estereo Fonico
Artist: CLIMAX GOLDEN TWINS Title: Eerie Fragrance Format: 12" Label: Etude Country: USA Price: $14.00
"A lovely vinyl reissue on Etude Records of a long obscure Climax Golden Twins gem. Originally issued in 1995, on cassette, Eerie Fragrance or Eyeless Fabrication or Exclude Frank or Eat Fuck or etc (forever) was Climax Golden Twins second official issue after a self-released double seven inch gatefold record. Cassettes--the cockroach of the industry--were a necessity at the poorer end of the music spectrum prior to CDRs and file sharing…the good old days…EF was a collage of noise, found sounds, punk rock disasters, Chinese climaxes, broken records, and tape failures mastered directly to cassette on a reverberant wooden floor in an old building in Seattle, Washington. It seemed an inauspicious start and little presaged the ambient/dreamy/art installation/field recording/Anomalous Records darlings CGT were to become with releases such as Lovely, Dream Cut Short in the Mysterious Clouds, Locations, etc. However, secret free hillbilly noise epilepsy has always lurked under the button up shirts, white wine sipping and gallery-opening snack-munching. The noise informs the dreams which informs the ambiance which informs the chaos and so back to the beginning and vice-versa. Etude Records discovered CGT through their work on the horror film Session Nine and have been wanting to release something ever since. Part band, part art project, Climax Golden Twins were discovered lurking under a desk in a laboratory in the early 1920s. Reconstituted around 1993 or 4 (just add gin), they perpetrated various audio artifacts on an unsuspecting (and cold) world (see extensive and largely mythical list below). These days they are the CGT in AFCGT. And they released Victrola Favorites recently on Dust to Digital. Their laboratory origins lead to a an unhealthy interest in early recording and the era of music on 78rpm records and cylinders, a time of acoustic sound reproduction when oral traditions ended and the home entertainment industry and the information age devoured our puny lives. Thats a mouthful. This era was a pivotal one in understanding how humanity arrived where it is today, though Climax Golden Twins denies all knowledge of where that might be." -Etude
Artist: HEISZENBERGER, ANDREAS Title: Solokarriere Format: LP Label: Eventuell Country: Germany Price: $16.00
"A few months after his contribution (I Hate You) on Matthias Schaffhäusers Warenkorb #4 , the new Cologne-based label Eventuell is proud to present the first longplayer of visual artist and electronic musician Andreas Heiszenberger from Nürnberg. Heiszenbergers concept of House might remind of Jan Jelineks Farben and Ekkehard Ehlers Betrieb , but is also characterized by his refreshing DIY-approach, experimentalism and very own humour and, its not only because of Heiszenbergers vocals that Solokarriere will suit fans of Justus Köhncke or the new Kompakt Pop serie. Next to the electronic and dance tunes youll find short, narrative interludes of soundpoetry and fieldrecordings together with his regular use of unusual samples, Solokarriere defines a completely new way of compiling a longplayer in electronic music. The record comes in a very special gatefold-cover with sticker, with paintings by Andreas Heiszenberger who also studied with German artist and musician Albert Oehlen (Leiterwagen Records). On the inside youll find a documentation about his visual art work (many coloured paintings and drawings) and a text by Wolfgang Brauneis (in german). This first edition is limited to 280 copies plus 20 copies numbered and signed special edition with an original drawing by Andreas Heiszenberger (now sold out). Eventuell is run by the tonschacht-crew and will be specialised in artists records. Forthcoming releases are planned with Sven-Ake Johansson, Jason Forrest (aka Donna Summer), and a collaboration between Blank with Raymond Pettibon and Tobias Rehberger (together with Grob)." - Eventuell.
Artist: BLANK Title: Duden Format: LP Label: Eventuell Country: Germany Price: $24.00
"Rüdiger Carl is one of the most important figures to have emerged from European free jazz. Musicians Oliver Augst and Christoph Korn, who are a generation younger, work at the cross-roads of improvisation, installation, electronics, and theory. Oliver Augst, Rüdiger Carl, and Christoph Korn have appeared as Blank in different projects and releases from FMP and GROB international. Their latest project takes the theme of "collection" as a starting point. Oliver Augst, Ruediger Carl, and Christoph Korn have sifted through their own recordings and releases from recent years, and have broken them down into microscopically small parts, creating countless strange and colourful fragments. These fragments are then recorded on vinyl in the form of 240 locked grooves. "Duden" is not only a very special recording, but an instrument in itself for Blank will use the locked grooves to perform live with three recordplayers instead of their usual instruments - a genuine mixture between post-turntablism and improvised music. Limited on 400 copies, comes with stunning artwork on extra thick cover by Tobias Rehberger." - Eventuell.
Artist: PETTIBON, RAYMOND/OTOMO YOSHIHIDE/OLIVER AUGST/CHRISTOPH KORN/RÜDIGER CARL Title: Long Live The People Of The Revolution Format: LP Label: Eventuell Country: Germany Price: $26.00
"The point of origin for the radio play „Long live the people of the revolution“ are the texts Bruno Schönlank and Ernst Toller wrote in the 1910s and 1920s for the revolutionary speaking choirs which were part of the communist labour movement. Here, Otomo Yoshihide’s manipulations of those original recordings meet Raymond Pettibon’s captivating lyrics. His revisions and translations of those utopian pieces recall the texts of his drawings and paintings, also known since his collaborations with bands like Black Flag and Sonic Youth. Both are supported by the fabulous Frankfurt based trio Blank which consists of free-jazz legend Rüdiger Carl, Oliver Augst and Christoph Korn who both work in the grey are between improvised music, electronic music and free noise. Together with Yoshihide and Pettibon they transform that apparently anachronistic combination of art and politics into a highly challenging, at the same time touching piece of art.The design of the labels and the stunning silkscreen-cover is by Raymond Pettibon. Thanks to one of the most unique collaborations in contemporary art and music, both musically and textually „Long live the people of the revolution“ is without doubt a masterpiece. The vinyl-only release is limited to 400 copies." - Eventuell.
Artist: BERRESHEIM, TIM Title: No Time Left Format: LP Label: Eventuell Country: Germany Price: $28.00
"After numerous releases with the artist Jonathan Meese, No Time Left is finally the first solo album by the artist and musician Tim Berresheim (Cologne). Besides last years 7 on Meeuw Muzak it is also the first release that doesnt appear on his own New Amerika imprint, but on Eventuell - a label which specializes in artists records and produced a collaboration between Raymond Pettibon, Otomo Yoshihide and Blank in 2005. No Time Left is an impressive proof of Berresheims musical skills, both as multi-instrumentalist, programmer and composer. The four tracks on this LP are carefully constructed mixtures of wonderful guitar and basslines, atmospheric synth-layers, dubby electronic music and unorthodox samples. Although very eclectic in its wide range of sounds and elements, the recordings are characterized by a coherent mood. If you can imagine a hybrid of Nurse With Wound, early Residents and Tom Recchion, youre probably quite near to what can be heard on this great record. The four instrumentals correspond with four large, modified black-and-white photographs by Tim Berresheim which are fully reproduced on four sides of the stunning extra-large gatefold-cover in the form of a triptych. An impressive artists record which comes in a limited edition of 400 copies." - Eventuell.
Artist: CHRISTIANSEN, HENNING Title: Op.39 Fluxorum Organum Format: Double LP Label: Eventuell Country: Germany Price: $52.00
"In 1967 Henning Christiansen proposed to Joseph Beuys that he, Christiansen, composes a major work for organ titled fluxorum organum for Beuyss planned Aktion Eurasienstab. Beuys and Christiansen agreed to structure fluxorum organum in five sections. Henning Christiansen composed a piece with five movements. The organist Franz Meiswinkel played the composition on the organ in Düsseldorfs Liebfrauenkirche. Henning Christiansen recorded the entire performance with a manipulated tape machine. The first Eurasienstab Aktion took place in 1967 in Vienna at the Galerie Nächst St. Stephan. There the final tape version fluxorum organum was played. In 1968 there was a repeat performance at the Wide White Space gallery in Antwerp. There was a film made of the performance, which, however, remained a fragment and included only the first and a bit of the second part of Christiansens composition. The film fragment is only about 20 minutes long. In the summer of 2008 Henning Christiansen gave me some old tapes with the complete recordings of his composition Eurasienstab -- fluxorum organum. Marcus Schmickler restored and remastered these tapes at Piethopraxis Studio, Cologne. On the recordings the actual playing times differ from the instructions in the score. The total duration of this recording is 72 47". -- from the liner notes by Ursula Block / gelbe MUSIK. Comes with two booklets, reprints of the original notation (15 pp.) as well as typewritten annotations (5 pp.) by Christiansen, limited edition of 450 copies. Highly recommended!" - Eventuell

Artist: RAINEY, BHOB Title: Two Bites Of A Bitter Sweet Format: 7" Label: Evolving Ear Country: USA Price: $6.50
"Very first release of all electronic music from this bigwig of the global improv/noise/experimental underground, known for his work alongside trumpeter Greg Kelley in the influential duo, nmperign, his direction of the improvising juggernaut, The BSC, and collaborations with Jason Lescalleet, Gunter Muller, Ralf Wehowsky, Le Quan Ninh, Alessandro Bosetti, and Michel Doneda, among others. This new music ranges from homemade synth textures to field recordings from Lisbon, Venice, Huelva, and other, unremembered locations. Theres some singing by Naomi Yang (Damon and Naomi) and Bhob himself, and some words of wisdom from Archbishop Desmond Tutu. Overall, a woozy alternate reality is offered for repeated dream pool swims. Edition of 300." - Evolving Ear.
Artist: PEEESSEYE Title: Commuting Between the Surface & the Underworld Format: CD Label: Evolving Ear Country: USA Price: $12.00
"Commuting Between the Surface & the Underworld continues Peeesseyes pattern of ignoring virtually all patterns but those that spring forth from the swarm of earthquakes in their collective brain. Recorded following an unamplified tour of US noise venues with groups including Nautical Almanac, Life Partners, and Sharks With Wings, this record brings vocals, a more pronounced rhythmic pulse and piles of acoustic instruments to the foreground alongside the waves of electronic density that have characterized past releases. Guests on Commuting Between the Surface & the Underworld include three frequent collaborators of Peeesseye: Clare Cooper, the Australian harpist who adds pedal harp and guzheng (Chinese harp) to two tracks; trumpeter Nate Wooley, who adds brass on “Distant Mud;” and the reclusive conceptualist Shawn Edward Hansen, who provides additional percussion and vocals to two tracks. The resulting record is a perverse twist on spaced rock and post-noise ritual - mayhem in the mansion, shivers in the shack." - Evolving Ear

Artist: NIBLOCK, PHILL Title: The Movement Of People Working Format: DVD Label: Extreme Country: Australia Price: $22.00
New version (with slightly revised visuals, same video and audio content) of this classic Niblock DVD release, originally from 2003. Double-sided DVD; Total time: 3 hours, 28 min. Features 6 short movies (25 to 70 minutes each), plus separate 5.1 DVD-Audio tracks. "This DVD collects a number of Niblocks documentary films analyzing the dynamics of motion involved in manual labor. The images on the disc are all accompanied by Niblocks own minimalist approach to soundtracking. Niblock started making these films back in 1973, upon visiting Mexico and Peru. It was here that he set out on his observation of the impersonal machinations of work. These films concentrate specifically on the work of human hands, both in terms of crafts, like weaving, and on the more industrial scale of farming, as is focused on by the films shot in Hungary, made in 1985 (the most recent work here). In this Hungarian sequence a man reaps in a field using an old-fashioned scythe: the workers rhythmic torsional movements are beautifully mirrored by Niblocks droning woodwind, as the composer continually renews his breath and restarts on the same pitch, replicating the visual cycle of unbroken repetition. Later on, we see a close-up of a woman milking a cow. Again, a rhythmic structure is established in both visual and auditory terms. Its pretty bewitching stuff considering how simple the component elements are. In addition to the conceptual success of the piece - which finds Niblock evoking a powerful sense of existential non-movement - he amply shows off his chops both as a filmmaker and a composer. The films here were produced on beautiful Kodachrome print stock, while the music is utterly timeless, the kind of infinite-chord drone work that only the very best artists in the genre can come up with. Magnificent." -Extreme. NTSC format, multi-zone format. 5.1 audio.
Artist: VERDUN Title: Two Archipelagos Format: LP Label: Eyland Country: USA Price: $14.00
“Two Archipelagos looks at how different kinds of music-making machines interact, with human intervention often limited to making sure that various forms of noise interfere with each other. Verdun is generally preoccupied with oscillatory sounds, whether generated through analogue feedback loops or repeated digital synthetics. These are the vaguely pulmonary rhythms that come from the warp core aboard the USS Enterprise, or else from your CD player when something goes terribly wrong. Verdun also love to torture electric guitars. Beyond that, the sounds variety and singularity make it near impossible to describe. The opening track, “Days of Being Wild,” records the interaction between several textures of feedback and repetition, interrupting itself now and then with the static clipping of an over-distorted guitar, or else with the long drone of dissonant chords. The icing on this cake of noise, near the end of the song, is a crystal-clear series of descending synthetic notes, as might come out of a ray-gun. Similar interplay happens in “(Oo)”. We hear the worlds worst garage band—a mutilated electric guitar, a cheap drum kit unskillfully played—but this is so muffled that the garage door might be shut. Then the robotic parents come to complain in their modem-language, and the rest of the song performs the two groups dispute: Verdun is about exploring just such contrasts between acoustical and digital noises. In Two Archipelagos, Verdun offers an insightful unfolding of the textural possibilities that our weird technological vector makes possible; this is a record that asks oblique questions and makes strange observations about what music today can and should do. Its a challenging and rewarding listen.” – Seth Perlow. Hand-screened limited edition of 100 copies.
