Title: Entkopplung
Format: LP
Label: Dais
Country: USA
Price: $18.00
"After releasing their debut LP on Dais in the summer of 2010, Sasha Grey, Ian Cinnamon and Pablo St. Francis grouped together under the banner of aTelecine once again, this time composing the recent soundtrack to the English/German film Entkopplung . The film itself is a highly esoteric science fiction labyrinth in the shape of Phillip K. Dick meets William s Burroughs. “The surreality of certain dreams, or the intense attraction of a perplexity of new impressions in real life.” Recorded and mixed in a marathon four day live to tape session using the mammoth 226 page script and the existing 30 minutes of completed footage as a scoring template, the music is dark, paranoid and claustrophobic echoing the themes in the film. This electronic score should be heard as a separate but yet equal vehicle to the film, an experience the listener shouldn’t worry about it altering the later cinematic encounter. Sonically it’s mission is complex and none vocal, purely enriching the narrative…and melodically creating all the necessary in-between nightmare illustrations. Limited to 1,000 copies on transparent green vinyl." - Dais.

Title: A Cassette Tape Culture
Format: LP
Label: Pendu
Country: USA
Price: $14.00
"Many know Sasha Grey for her starring role in Steven Soderberghs Girlfriend Experience or as Vince Chases girlfriend on Entourage or as the starlet on the cover of October 2010?s issue of Playboy Magazine or as an acclaimed porn star who has taken home multiple AVN awards, been photographed by Richard Kern and Terry Richardson, and is taken seriously by universities and the NYTimes. Although Sasha has now released two full-length LPs and a 7, she is not as well known for her music. Sasha is not a porn actress turned musician like a Traci Lords, Sasha has always made music. Sasha has been recording music since she was 15 years old and was influenced from the beginning by groups like Throbbing Gristle and KMFDM. She takes an experimental approach to making music in the form of sound collages which bring to mind artists such as Nurse With Wound and Coil. She has worked with Current 93 lending her vocals to Aleph at Hallucinatory Mountain. A Cassette Tape Culture is the second recording by aTelecine to be released by Pendu Sound Recordings, a NYC-based independent record label run by artist/curator, Todd Brooks. This 36-minute full-length LP continues where their aVigillant Carpark 7 on Pendu Sound left off and expands outward toward longer, more developed soundscapes rich in textures made from tape loops, synth-washes and sparse vocals. aTelecine originally began as a duo with Sasha Grey and Pablo St. Francis, but has since expanded into a 4-piece adding new members, Anthony Djuan and Ian C." - Pendu.

Title: The Falcon And The Pod
Format: LP
Label: Pendu
Country: USA
Price: $18.00
Full color gatefold jacket and poster, pressed on colored vinyl. "aTelecines The Falcon And The Pod is the first in a trilogy of gatefold LPs (the next two installments: Sounds That Gods Fear, Are You Attracted To Wounded Animals). For folks whove heard the bands noisier previous work — for instance A Cassette Tape Culture — the spacey, smeary, drifting and droning "ambient death dub" will come as a surprise. Ditto folks still hung-up on the fact that the electro-industrial quartet features Sasha Grey on voice, synth, tape loops, guitar, etc: This isnt some easygoing vanity project. What we have is a patient, expansive collection, one that nods to interests in Coil, Psychic TV, Throbbing Gristle, Nurse With Wound, and Lustmord, among other things. Importantly, The Falcon drifts into its own hypnotic, weirdly insular and esoteric territories, ultimately sounding like nothing Ive heard all year." - Brandon Stosuy.
