Title: Op.39 Fluxorum Organum
Format: Double LP
Label: Eventuell
Country: Germany
Price: $52.00
"In 1967 Henning Christiansen proposed to Joseph Beuys that he, Christiansen, composes a major work for organ titled fluxorum organum for Beuyss planned Aktion Eurasienstab. Beuys and Christiansen agreed to structure fluxorum organum in five sections. Henning Christiansen composed a piece with five movements. The organist Franz Meiswinkel played the composition on the organ in Düsseldorfs Liebfrauenkirche. Henning Christiansen recorded the entire performance with a manipulated tape machine. The first Eurasienstab Aktion took place in 1967 in Vienna at the Galerie Nächst St. Stephan. There the final tape version fluxorum organum was played. In 1968 there was a repeat performance at the Wide White Space gallery in Antwerp. There was a film made of the performance, which, however, remained a fragment and included only the first and a bit of the second part of Christiansens composition. The film fragment is only about 20 minutes long. In the summer of 2008 Henning Christiansen gave me some old tapes with the complete recordings of his composition Eurasienstab -- fluxorum organum. Marcus Schmickler restored and remastered these tapes at Piethopraxis Studio, Cologne. On the recordings the actual playing times differ from the instructions in the score. The total duration of this recording is 72 47". -- from the liner notes by Ursula Block / gelbe MUSIK. Comes with two booklets, reprints of the original notation (15 pp.) as well as typewritten annotations (5 pp.) by Christiansen, limited edition of 450 copies. Highly recommended!" - Eventuell SOLD OUT

Title: Musik Hessayistik
Format: Double LP
Label: Holidays
Country: Italy
Price: $37.00
"Henning Christiansen (Copenhagen, 1932 - Isle of Møn, 2008) was a Danish composer and an active member of the Fluxus movement. He studied at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Copenhagen and at the more liberal Ex-School (Eks-Skolen), embracing its radical approach in study and creation of art and developing into his own musical thinking. In 1962, he attended the George Maciunass International Festspiele Neuster Musik in Wiesbaden, where he probably experienced an epiphany that caused a significant shift in his artistic practice and musical composition. Musik Essayistik is the combined reissue of twin releases Fluxid (1983) and Fluxyl (1984) - two of the most obscure and enigmatic records in Christiansens discography - previously issued separately by Borgen Records in Denmark. Four minimal pieces exploring the clash between instrumental composition-improvisation and pre-recorded real sounds. Embossed green ear on front cover; Edition of 300." - Holidays.

Title: Opus 67 Strategygetarts A Symphony, Hommage A Richard Demarco
Format: LP
Label: Penultimate Press
Country: UK
Price: $26.00
"Opus 67 Strategygetarts A Symphony, Hommage Á Richard Demarco is a previously unissued recording by Henning Christiansen from 1971. In 1970, the Richard Demarco Gallery in collaboration with the Kunsthalle Düsseldorf organized the exhibition, Strategy: Get Arts. This celebration of art from Düsseldorf was held at the Edinburgh College of Art during the Edinburgh International Festival. The title of the exhibition was a palindrome created by André Thomkins and featured works by Joseph Beuys, Claus Böhmler, George Brecht, Henning Christiansen, Robert Filliou, Dorothy Iannone, Mauricio Kagel, and Dieter Roth amongst others. Opus 67 Strategygetarts A Symphony, Hommage Á Richard Demarco was sent to Richard Demarco as a gift following the exhibition. Having returned to Denmark, Christiansen, along with sound technician Peter Sakse, created Strategygetarts, a sound collage incorporating field recordings from urban spaces, supermarkets, a boxing game, etc. The sole "musical" element is a piano motif which repeatedly punctuates the recordings. The first side moves forwards, the flip back. A reverse groove will set you straight. Opus 67 Strategygetarts A Symphony, Hommage Á Richard Demarco comes in a high-gloss sleeve, featuring two original artworks by Henning Christiansen; Edition of 500." - Penultimate Press.

Edition of 700." - Penultimate Press.
"In the summer of 1969 we made a collective film The Search on the heath in Jutland, Denmark. Henning Christiansen made on site field recordings for the individual scenes with Peter Sakse as sound master. The music was first time used during the performance at the festival Strategy: Gets Art exhibition organised by Richard Demarco at Edinburgh College of Art, on August 21, 1970 with Joseph Beuys and Henning Christiansen. Henning Christiansen sampled the field recording into the organ music from Eurasienstab. He gave this composition subsequently the title Requiem of Art fluxorum organum II Opus 50. That means a requiem over the role of art in the 1960s." --Ursula Reuter Christiansen, Møn, Denmark, October 20, 2015.

Title: Symphony Natura
Format: LP
Label: Slowscan
Country: Netherlands
Price: $54.00
“Reissue on black vinyl, strictly limited to 90 copies, hand numbered, contains the original cover from the first edition plus the score, also numbered. Limited quantities available! "Symphony Natura op.170" (1985) is a long collage of electronic drones and animal sounds, recorded at the Zoo in Rome in 1985.” - Slowscan.

"First of all, I think of Bruckners great symphonies modelled after nature, from the days of flourishing orchestral culture, great feelings and gazing into the soundscape. Which was always the landscape of a concert hall and musicians dressed up as penguins, many violins. Originally most ideals of instrumental sounds were derived from animal voices or other sounds of natural phenomena. The violins, for instance: someone found out that stretched out, dried bowels could produce sounds, there is a funny saying: "My bowels are crying." This has been civilized, "refined", and much has been achieved for the human mind (Save the Nature, use it). The strings have played spirituality to the human being. Today, however, I have the opportunity to treat the voices of sheep electrically so that they can be used as instruments for our acoustic expression and also to set us thinking about our present-day relation to nature - also to our own nature as human beings. I have worked with animal voices before, in the ROMA ZOO, e. g., I made a suite of animal voices which I called SYMPHONY NATURA, I have also worked with the howling of wolves and with canaries (The Green Birdchoirpiano - Museum of Art, Northern Jutland) ("Freedom Is Around the Corner" - Yellow Music in Berlin) and also monkey singing, all of it nature variations on tape. What is important to me now is where and in which context such works are being performed. I have been in concert halls, in theaters, but I am not really harpy with these environments for my animal music. I have to construct new "concert halls" for such works and therefore I really like this relatively large "Concert castle" on the meadow at the Danube in front of the famous Brucknerhaus, it is ideal for me and I am writing a new slogan: "Sheep instead of Violins." The meadow belongs to the sheep, it is their territory, thats where they belong and people come to visit them.” - Henning Christiansen.
