Title: Half Machine from the Sun: The Lost Tracks, 79-80
Format: Double LP
Label: King of Spades
Country: USA
Price: $31.00
"Tracks recorded by Helios Creed and Damon Edge in 79 and 80, during the Half Machine Lip Moves and Third from the Sun period, but never released. About this era Helios recently wrote: "We were into Iggy and the Stooges, and punk shows started happening at the Mabuhay Gardens in 1976 which was right there in North Beach too, at the end of the Broadway strip. It was the most fun era of my life. The punk scene had an incredible energy and fire. Then the Sex Pistols came out with Never Mind the Bullocks in 1977 and we released Chromes second album Alien Soundtracks the same year and the whole punk thing exploded. Next we released Half Machine Lip Moves in 1979 and it and Alien Soundtracks took over in the punk world. Our record covers filled the windows of record stores and I was in awe. We werent really a traditional punk band. Nobody else sounded like us. We were more of a psychedelic band, but a punk version of psychedelia, acid-punk. But I was influenced by the punk scene, because the music was experimental and free, but still hard and solid. punks guitar was fucked up and without rules. So it was a great scene to keep developing my sound and my approach to guitar. Damon and I were both into expanding the possibilities. We fed off of each other in our experimentation and as we created wed both like the same things. There was this thing that Damon and I called the Chill Factor where if its really good you get goose bumps, and we used to get the Chill Factor at the same time. We shared concepts about how to approach music and we pushed the limits and that is how I guess we became known as proto-industrial, because we expanded the possibilities of what music at the time could sound like and people were influenced from there. Damons and my meeting had become a catalyst for the birth of a whole new sound."" - King of Spades.

Title: 3rd From The Sun
Format: LP/CD
Label: Lilith
Country: Russia
Price: $29.00
"Metallic drums, grating guitar, a driving industrial beat, lo-fi / sci fi, toxic waste... this was the universe inhabited by SF cyber punks, Chrome. Originally released in 1982, on band founder Damon Edges own Siren Records, this was the bands last official release. Still featuring the rhythmic talents of John & Hilary Stench on drums and bass, and as always, the brilliantly feral guitar playing of Helios Creed, the album kicks off with the jaw-dropping Firebomb. Also featuring two bonus tracks from their rare 1982 Anorexic Sacrifice 7" single." -Lilith.

Title: Alien Soundtracks
Format: LP/CD
Label: Lilith
Country: Russia
Price: $29.00
"1978s Alien Soundtracks was the second album by the sci-fi obsessed San Francisco experimental rock band, Chrome, formed in 1977 by Damon Edge. A brilliant combination of punk rock aesthetic, with Iggy-esque vocals, jangly guitar, primitive electronics, tape manipulation and sampling, this was also the first album to feature the mad guitar stylings of Helios Creed. Often credited as being the precursors to the industrial metal sound, the band are also akin to experimental punk/noise bands like Pere Ubu and Suicide. Featuring The Manifestation (Of The Idea) originally released simultaneously on the 1982 Chrome Box and on an Italian Chrome compilation, No Humans Allowed. 180 gram vinyl." - Lilith.

Title: Blood On the Moon
Format: LP/CD
Label: Lilith
Country: Russia
Price: $29.00
"For this 1981 release, Edge and Creed brought in brothers John and Hilary Stench on drums and bass. The brothers hailed from the extremely popular local new wave band, Pearl Harbour & the Explosions, formed in 1978 in San Francisco. This new rhythm section can definitely be heard, making Chrome a bit more danceable if you will and the first inklings of that driving industrial metal beat can be heard. Tracks like excellent Perfumed Metal are a perfect example of this transformation. It was also in 1981 that Chrome received an offer to perform live in Italy from a group of Italian fans. Chrome had never appeared live before, but unbelievably they accepted the Italian gig and flew to Bologna, Italy to play their first ever live concert. The live instrumental track included here is from that legendary Italian concert, on July 20, 1981." -Lilith.

Title: Half Machine Lip Moves
Format: LP/CD
Label: Lilith
Country: Russia
Price: $29.00
""When Chrome first came on the SF punk scene in the late seventies, they were called acid punk, due to their penchant for both, but also because their music came from a far-out place - a place most people could only get to while in a drug-altered state. The sci-fi obsessed Creed and Edge, however, claimed to channel their music directly from the beyond, and when 1979s groundbreaking Half Machine Lip Moves was released - an angular and metallic sounding album interspersed with electric violin, apocalyptic tape loops, moog, atonal droning distorted guitar and a wall of metallic sounding percussion - it certainly sounded that way. For the next five years Creed and Edge were a force to be reckoned with, laying the groundwork for the industrial music scene and directly influencing almost every guitar-toting punk ever since. Featuring three bonus tracks-Anti-Fade, I Left My Heart In San Francisco and Meet You In The Subway - which originally appeared on the Subterranean Modern compilation, released in 1979 on Ralph Records. 180 gram vinyl." - Lilith.

Title: Red Exposure
Format: LP/CD
Label: Lilith
Country: Russia
Price: $29.00
"Humans are the cancer of the planet...all people have untapped psychic powers...acid is good...aliens exist...these are just some of the ideas that the pioneering San Francisco band Chrome was grappling with in its music, labeled acid punk by the press in a desperate attempt to categorize them. Comparing them to everyone from Pere Ubu, to the Residents, to Devo, to Can, to Eno, the reality was that no one knew really knew where they fit in...perhaps because they really were channeling their music from some distant alien planet. In fact, Chromes founder, Damon Edge, described himself as having something he called clairaudient syndrome, a condition that allows you to hear something before it happens...meaning that he would first hear the music in his head, and then channel it onto tape.... and perhaps that explains the music in this LP. For Chrome aficionados this album is more ambient and droning than previous albums, except for the Devo-esque Electric Chair- and one wonders if they didnt write this song to poke fun at the band. Featuring three bonus tracks: In A Dream and Danger Zone both taken from their 1981 12" Inworlds single... and Informations, taken from the b-side of their rare New Age 7" released in 1980." - Lilith.

Label: Noiseville
Country: USA
Price: $17.00
"This is Chromes second album, released in 1978, and comprised of members Gary Spain (bass, guitar, vocals), Damon Edge (drums, synthesizer), and Helios Creed. Alien Soundtracks is the first of their releases that would later mark them as early innovators of post-punk industrial experimentalism. This release is raw punk heavy on the Stoogeian vibe, featuring Creeds flanging, scrawling guitar sounds backed up by Edges use of tape manipulation and samples." -Noiseville

Title: Half Machine Lip Moves
Format: CD
Label: Noiseville
Country: USA
Price: $17.00
"Originally released in 1979 on Siren/Beggars Banquet, Half Machine Lip Moves is Chromes third album and is considered an absolute classic of raw punk/experimental genius, authored by the duo of Helios Creed and Damon Edge."-Noiseville "Half Machine Lip Moves was a curious and powerful hybrid, which fused a Stooges-styles aggression with a sci-fi and LSD-inspired otherworldliness, reflected in titles that evidenced their interest in aliens and contemporary technology. This album was arguably their finest moment ... Creeds searing, heavily FX-laden guitar and Edges eerie Moog and vocals, underpinned by metallic drums, came together to create what could have become a radical new departure point for a nascent form of post-rock." -The Wire; "One of my Personal Top 25 albums of all time, this is certainly one of those records you can keep returning to and find new things buried in all those layers of ZOUND." -Julian Cope.

Title: Third From The Sun
Format: CD
Label: Noiseville
Country: USA
Price: $17.00
"Noiseville is very proud to have the chance to reissue these absolutely must-have traces of interstellar psych perfection from San Franciscos legendary Chrome. The sound was beefed up, and each was repackaged with the original art from their initial release back in the early 80s. These 3 albums (Alien Soundtracks, Half Machine Lip Moves, Third From The Sun) are classics and should never have gone out-of-print. But due to fighting within the band, these CDs will not be repressed and most unfortunately, the LP counterparts never made it past the test pressing stage, until the dispute has been settled by the courts, this is it." Third From The Sun was originally released on Siren Records in 1982, right before the bands break-up, with Damon Edge and Helios Creed chuddering out creepy post-garage industrial murk. Third From The Sun sounds more conventional rock than their prior releases, while still maintaining the garbage-y, weird-space psychonaut vibe that would be their trademark. Grinding guitars, terrifyingly creepazoid vocals, and a bass that sounds like rocks thudding off of someones head." -Noiseville
