Title: Perverse Schlaeuche
Format: Double Cass
Label: Beniffer Editions
Country: Canada
Price: $15.00
"Ive had a hell of a week. Between going to work and assembling this release which contains 2 cassettes, an artist print of one of Kommissar Hjulers demented puppets and two stamped latex gloves in an edition of 150, I have been looking for the words to describe the music therein. And so, at my wits end, I have recruited this cat here to do that for me...................... nbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbb edddddddmte mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm o n.............................................. 888888888888  sab deeeeeeeeeeeeeeek6 jjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjj ... Needless to say, another classic in the ever-expanding catalogue of this exciting and conceptually-intruiging duo. Do not miss out on this utterly confounding piece of freak-ephemera." -Beniffer Editions.

Title: Amerikanische Poesie und Alkoholismus
Format: LP
Label: Feeding Tube
Country: USA
Price: $14.00
"180 Gram Edition of 500. "Officer Hjuler of the Flensburg police, and his wife Frau Baer give an earsplitting lecture on sound poetry on the A side and lull us into a state of American Alcoholism on the flip. This German duo has over 200 releases on their own lathe cut/cdr imprint and is quickly racking up international honors, album credits and acclaim. This is their largest LP release to date. One side is Kommissar Hjuler und Frau : ONCE AGAIN concrete poetry (or was it the song?) a collage of US-american sound poetry, collected by Jean-Francois Bory, presented by Kommissar Hjuler und Frau. "One side is Mama Baer : Alcoholisme - brut field recordings with mama baers voice and treatment. "Amerikanische Poesie... is the duo at their most hilariously alienating and crudely sophisticated." -David Keenan in WIRE "this is, naturally, a batshit-crazy affair, with the two absolutely howling over the purported “legacy” materials (through a fender princeton from the sound of things) - its both terrifying and oddly inspiring (which sums up most of what makes this stuff so ... engaging)." -Keith Fullerton Whitman

Title: Asylum Lunaticum
Format: CD
Label: Intransitive
Country: USA
Price: $14.00
"Intimate, absurd, feral and aggressive in its homemade weirdness, the music of Kommissar Hjuler & Mama Bär has been a well-kept secret for too long. Hjuler & Bär have self-published their dada-esque sound poetry experiments on small-edition lathe-cut LPs, tapes and CDRs for years, usually adorning them with elaborate junk sculptures and paintings. Intransitive is proud to collect their best recordings so far onto a single, widely available CD so that anyone can hear the music without making a major financial investment. The husband and wife duo uses deceptively simple means -- typically just their voices, a cassette-tape recorder and a microphone -- to create astonishing suburban dramas that are somehow both sweetly charming and staggeringly psychotic, sometimes at the same time. Join Kommissar Hjuler and Mama Bär as they perform acts of banal heroics, like exploring the basement... taking their son for a bicycle ride... walking with a red shirt into a field of cattle... pondering reforms made to the Danish police system... all viewed through the unhinged lens. Kommissar Hjuler & Mama Bär are painters, sculptors, film-makers and musicians based in Flensberg, Germany, near the Danish border. Their artwork has been exhibited in galleries and at festivals around the world. They collaborated with like-minded artists such as Thurston Moore, Arnulf Meifert, John Weise, Runzelstirn & Gurgelstock, Jan Iwers and Af Ursin, among many others." "Asylum Lunaticum is not just another name or title, its an almost too harmless a description of the family Hjuler/Bar. Over decades, Kommisar Hjuler provided me with his sick but mind-blowing art. So rare their works are, its truly time to dig em out and show the world! This CD shall do so." -- Rudolf Eb.er (R&G/Schimpfluch-Commune Int.)

Title: Wiederaufnahmeverfahren II / 06
Format: LP
Label: SHMF/You Dont Have To Call It Music
Country: Germany
Price: $48.00
"As a teenager Kommissar Hjuler began to look out for strange music. At Unterm Durchschnitt in Hamburg he found several records with electronic and industrial music. He then began to contact musicians like Steven Stapleton, Lt. Caramel, Merzbow or Due Process in order to get handsigned copies for his collection. At the age of 18 he was invited by Karlheinz Stockhausen for a concert of Hymnen. Kommissar Hjuler became a collector of any kinds of strange music with lots of contacts to the musicians, but he did not make any music at that time. He has a very creative mind. So whenever he recorded some tapes from items of his collection for some friend, he styled the tape covers as if they were little art objects. One of the musicians he had contacted was Jan Iwers (No One/No Records), who felt in love with the little tape covers he saw and asked for a styling of his next release. So Kommissar Hjuler - 31 years old at that time - created some covers for a tape edition by Jan Iwers, then began to make some recordings together with him. They called their project TUULEN LAULU and made a double LP and some tapes, but he soon realized that he was not able to work in a band, his plans for music were too bizarre, so he started recording his own music ?? mostly with simple arrangements by using a mono cassette recorder. His music might be called fluxus, for one will hardly find a name for it, some recordings are even more text sound collages or cut-up readings, some are simply bizarre music. Soon after his first release by Tuulen Laulu he met his wife Mama Bär, she was only 17 years old. It was love at first sight. She did not know anything about strange music or arts, but soon showed a talent by nature for painting very abstract pictures (mostly acryl and wax) and creating songs in her very own vein. Both worked together as Kommissar Hjuler und Frau, whereas these recordings were dominated by Kommissar Hjuler. So she prefered to make her Mama Bär recordings without any others help. They married, got their son Cy, built a house with a complete tone studio and gallery for her paintings and few collages by Kommissar Hjuler, both now work as artists and have released quite a lot of very limited releases on handcut vinyl, as CD-Rs or tapes. Covers were mostly created by Kommissar Hjuler. Kommissar Hjuler joined the police, at the age of 16, then took evening classes and afterwards studied to become an police officer. He now works at 1. Police Department Flensburg. Mama Bär does no longer work in her job as chemical assistant, she now only works as an artist running a tiny gallery and mother. Most of their spare time Kommissar Hjuler and Mama Bär use for any weird sound creations, paintings or sculptures. Not all ideas become realization, of course, otherwise their output would have been incredible, and in a way it is by now. But their world is dominated by art and who ever met them was astonished about their strange personalities, both can be regarded as one abstract organism of creative art in two persons belonging together." - Asylum Lunaticum. "Handstamped inner sleeve and 5 inserts (stamped inner sleeve, two textsheets, one printed photo and two coloured artwork prints signed by both artists). Limited and numbered edition of 100 copies on pure black vinyl." - You Dont Have To Call It Music.

Title: Mensen Die
Format: LP
Label: Ultra Eczema
Country: Belgium
Price: $28.00
"Please translate all the titles and our names in Flemmish, Kommissar Hjuler asked me for this record. This record continues the German couples satirical approach to Fluxus, Dada, outsider art, whatever u wanna call it. Kommissar Hjuler is a police officer from a small village in Germany, Flensburg, where he lives and works with his younger wife, Mama Bär and their kids. Mama Bär is a full time painter. The Kommissar only started making music when he was already in his thirtees, heavily influenced by the strange music he had been collecting since the age of 16. This LP includes three long tracks; Its the last one in the Ultra Eczema 6-panel fold out cover series, limited to 300 copies." - Ultra Eczema.
