"G.P.O. versus G.P-O: a chronicle of mail art on trial is a publication of Genesis P-Orridges collection of materials surrounding Great Britains General Post Offices case against him for disseminating pornographic material through the mail in 1975. These postcards incorporated confrontational images with images of the Queen. When the Post Office made their case against P-Orridge, it became an opportunity to turn the case into another performance. G.P.O. versus G.P-O collects ephemera, legal documents, correspondence, and articles about the case and mail art. Genesis P-Orridge is an artist, musician and performer who founded the performance group, COUM Transmissions in 1969. They were active until 1976 when they mounted their controversial exhibition, Prostitution, at the Institute of Contemporary Art in London. G.P.O vs. G.P-O is a reprint of Ecart Publications 1976 edition." -Primary Information.

"I have known Genesis P-Orridge over a period of years and I consider him a devoted and serious artist in the Dada tradition. He instructs by pointing out banality through startling juxtapositions."-William S. Burroughs. "Huckster shaman, lunatic savior, Genesis P-Orridge is undoubtedly a bold visionary mind for the new century. For thirty years hes been dancing a mighty few steps ahead of the rest of us, and now this book shows us why or all his imposture as a rock star, Genesis has always been something else, an artist." Carlo McCormick, Paper. Impressive book featuring tons of black & white and full color photos and flyers of 60s and 70s COUM performances and artwork. Soft cover, 8.5" x 11" , 200 pgs.
