"Abduction Records presents the fourth full-length release from Oakland, Californias one-man detonator, Porest. Tourrorists! is a diabolical folk power-stew told through swirling Mid-Eastern psych-rockers, contraband cut-ups, illegal pop epics, instrumental songs of political sabotage and clever tales about travel, terror and more. This album is a lit-fuse, bound to be banned! Discover the awful truth about becoming a U.S. citizen. Bear witness to the tragic disco anthem of a Guantanamo escapee. Discover the inner-secrets of an emerging global cannibalism trade and get powerful information on some of the most exciting terror cells operating both in and outside of the United States today! Five-thousand Americans died to bring you this album...and 5,000 more will die if you dont buy it RIGHT NOW! Also featured are special musical guests including Finlands Aavikko." - Abduction.

Title: Modern Journal of Popular Savagery
Format: LP
Label: Nashazphone
Country: Egypt
Price: $24.00
"Porests fourth long-player, Modern Journal of Popular Savagery is a damning collection of parallel realities told in song and sound. Following 2006s masterful Tourrorists, MJoPS pits post-globalized hate pop, cabalistic text-to-speech drama and violent tape music against soapbox anthems and swirling barbed-wire psychedelia -- sometimes within the same track. The result: a terrifying and ridiculous audio shakedown that both avoids and completely indulges the inherent trappings of art and politics. Fuzzed out guitars and keyboards, epic modulated grooves, "samples" and far-out fucking field recordings index the colonization of our consciousness. Youre already dead -- and none of your intellectual friends can save you. Guests include Richard Bishop (Sun City Girls), Peter Conheim (Negativland), and Jake Rodriguez (Bran?Pos). Recorded between California, Syria, Vietnam and points in between.
Across decades, Porest (aka Mark Gergis) has issued a trail of confounding agitprop sound art, tilted pop, diabolical radio dramas and carefully rearranged realities on the Abduction, Seeland and Resipiscent labels. Porests blatant embezzlement of human syntax and cultural misunderstanding broadcasts vital mixed messages. Collaborations have included: Aavikko (Finland), Sun City Girls (USA), and Negativland (USA) among others. Gergis was a co-founder of the long-running experimental Bay Area music and performance collective Mono Pause -- as well as its offshoot Neung Phak, performing inspired renditions of southeast Asian musics. Since 2003, with the Sublime Frequencies label, an ethnographic music and film collective out of Seattle, Washington -- and more recently, with his own record label -- Sham Palace, Gergis has shared decades of research and scores of archived international music, film footage and sound recordings acquired during extensive travels in the Middle East, South East Asia and elsewhere." - Nashazphone.

Title: The Parallel Broadcasts/Radio Between the Lines (and Before the EU)
Format: Cass
Label: Porestsound
Country: United States
Price: $13.00
"Porest unveils original music and recordings from the covert sector of his archives. Culled from shortwave and FM broadcasts, these selections are said to be intercepted via "prepared radio" - one finely tuned to receive what is known in certain circles as parallel broadcasting. Content explores the trauma of emerging global consciousness, acute cultural antipology, and the urgent placement of democratic music today. Recorded in January and February of 2016, with contributions from Paul Staufenbiel (Aavikko) and Michael Darr. Features radio dramas, brutal sound collage, pop music interludes, and a shocking exposé on CIA punk group: Down With Culture. Originally created for Optimized! (on WFMU), which featured three days of programming curated by Vicki Bennett (People Like Us), comprising ten hours of new and exclusive recordings, radio and video by 26 participants. Side B features Porests early radio archaeological release: Radio Between the Lines (and Before the EU) recorded and assembled 1997-1999. Full-length cassette comes pressed on a baby blue cassette in a full-color sleeve." - Porestsound.

Title: Mood Noose
Format: CD
Label: Resipiscent
Country: USA
Price: $11.00
"The Resipiscent catalogue only gets better! Here it is, the eagerly anticipated third release from Mono Pause, Sublime Frequencies maker, Mark Gergis. Lethal 14th c. field recordings cuddle with razor-scored melodies, swirled radio psychedelia. Flatline drunken domesticity and circuit murder summon a festive, fertile melancholy. Unguessable, peerless, a scrubber for the bloody stuff past your ears." -Resipiscent.

"Porest, aka Mark Gergis, comes to Discrepants Sucata Tapes with a "trapped in the box" experiment, featuring his non-nonsense radio collages, blurring the lines of reality with hard facts and proof... A mini-album created from Porests Hanoi, Vietnam base for Dr Klangendum. Framed by a claustrophobic radio drama, and featuring a wide range of sound and music from the Porest archives, as well as material recorded exclusively for this program.
