Title: Live in Dallas, TX, October 28, 1969
Format: LP
Label: B13
Country: Italy
Price: $29.00
Clear purple vinyl in a transparent PVC sleeve with yellow lettering; edition of 500 copies. "After the release of their third LP in March 1969, the Velvets (with Doug Yule now on bass) embarked on a nationwide tour, playing over seventy dates all around the US. One of these included a stint at the End Of Cole Avenue club in Dallas--one of the Velvets few live performances where a professional sound engineer was actually on hand to record the sets. Some of the songs recorded over those few nights showed up in 1974 on their 1969: Velvet Underground Live album, but the sound quality was not great due to Mercurys use of third or fourth generation tapes. However, the first generation tapes have since resurfaced, and the difference in sound quality (heard here) is a welcome one. This version also features a few songs, like Im Set Free and One Of These Days, not found on the original LP." - B13.

Lou Reed, Sterling Morrison, Maureen Tucker and Doug Yule (whod replaced John Cale a full year previously) had developed into a sensationally tight and adventurous quartet, and this show -- the first of two recorded on consecutive nights before a tiny audience in Dallas, Texas -- is unquestionably one of the finest surviving documents of them in performance. Remastered sound and background notes included on printed insert." -Keyhole.

Title: Real Good Time Together: Radio Broadcast
Format: CD
Label: Laser Media
Country: Germany
Price: $14.00
"Forged in the white light, white heat of the New York avant-garde scene in the mid 1960s, The Velvet Underground blazed a trail so far ahead of their contemporaries they often appear to have dropped fully formed into the history of popular music. Aside from the image and iconography, so perfectly designed by maverick manager Andy Warhol, the experiments with form and sound that worked in tandem with crucial melodies and outrageous lyrics, moved infamous music writer Lester Bangs to declare that the Velvets started modern music . This F.M. CD was recorded in 1993 and features all the greatest hits from VU." - Laser Media.

Title: Unripened
Format: LP
Label: Xtv
Country: Europe
Price: $22.00
"Complete with a green banana on the cover, this is the original version of their first album, recorded in April 1966 and rejected by Columbia Records. Darker, more primitive and abrasive than the version eventually released, this features either different recordings or different mixes of each song, some with different lyrics, and in a substantially different running order. And since this was made from the original acetate masters, youll hear some glitches, scratches, pops and clicks along the way, so while not perfect, its certainly very listenable and the first chance weve had to hear the album as originally intended. With revealing liner notes. Euro import."-Xtv
