Sound and Video artist John Grzinich has been working under the name\r\njgrzinich since 1995. He has performed and worked extensively throughout\r\nEurope and the US. His sound compositions have been published\r\ninternationally on such labels as Staalplaat (NL), erewhon (BE),\r\nIntransitive Recordings (US), Orogenetics (US), Elevator Bath (US),\r\nPale-Disc (JP), Digital Narcis (JP). These works consist of collaborations\r\nwith mnortham, Seth Nehil and Frequency Curtain (Josh Ronsen, Rick Reed,\r\njgrzinich). Since 1994 jgrzinich has explored various approaches to sound\r\ngeneration, recording and production. His techniques range from the\r\nconstruction of original instrument devices and the capturing of acoustic\r\nphenomenon through environmental field recordings to digital multi-tracking\r\nand manipulation. intimations is the first solo release from jgrzinich.\r\nintimations began as a series of piano recording experiments in the spring\r\nof 2001 in Austin, Texas and continued as a sonic diary of life in transit\r\nthroughout Europe. The resulting CD came from a culmination of experiences,\r\ncontinually worked through as dynamic and personal electro-acoustic\r\nreflections. intimations is comprised of recordings from Texas, Croatia,\r\nItaly and Germany and was composed at numerous locations from the Balkans to\r\nthe Baltics. The CD includes an extended essay by the composer. These are\r\nintimations of a different kind; as if listening was no longer about finding\r\nreferences in a mediated culture but is about sensing the coordinates of\r\nones position through a set of precise signals present in the environment."\r\nJohn Grzinich currently lives in Estonia and works as a media lab\r\ncoordinator for MOKS, an NGO organization dedicated to local and\r\ninternational cooperation in the fields of arts, social and environmental\r\nresearch." - CMR.
