MOTOR GHOST - A Gold Chain Round Her Breast

"MOTOR GHOST is the new project of free drummer / vocalist Alex Neilson and multi-instrumentalist Ben Reynolds. Both Glasgow residents and frequent collaborators on the live circuit, A Gold Chain Round Her Breast is their first recorded document as a duo. From the brooding opener through tracks of soaring electricity to the beautifully fragile a capella rendition of the folk song Leaves Of Life, this album sees Alex and Ben exploring darkness and light and all shades in between. Alex drumming provides much of the backbone of the album supporting and conversing with Bens acoustic and electric guitars, loops and the call of the dürmuk (a Greek horn). Recording in a studio environment allowed MOTOR GHOST to define their sound and experiment with overdubs to lay down some intense tracks. The album comes in screenprinted sleeves, all of which have been hand embellished with gold enamel and are individually numbered. The first 100 copies of the album include a 3" bonus disk containing a 4 song solo vocal set Alex performed at the Macbeth in London the day before the MOTOR GHOST studio session. The bonus disk features exclusive liner notes by Scottish folk singer Alasdair Roberts (Drag City). ALEX NEILSON has been drumming up a storm in the last few years playing with some of the UKs finest innovators like Richard Youngs, Ashtray Navigations, Taurpis Tula and Scatter as well as accompanying Jandek on his first ever and subsequent UK live shows. More recently hes been playing internationally with Bonnie Prince Billy and developing his solo project Directing Hand further to include (solo) singing as well as his inspired freeform drumming. Alex personal interest to investigate parallels between improvised, experimental and more traditional folk music is clearly audible on A Gold Chain Round Her Breast. BEN REYNOLDS (www.benreynolds.tk) is an improviser, guitarist and composer who has been an active participant in the UK underground music scene for several years, playing and recording as a solo artist as well as in Phil Todds Ashtray Navigations and with such underground activists as Bridget Hayden (Vibracathedral Orchestra), John Fail (Lied Music, Oakwhistle), Andy Jarvis (Sculptress, A Warm Palindrome) and Jani Hirvonen (Uton). More recently Ben has become increasingly interested in the potential of music as a psychedelic force, which can change life by illuminating the usually unconscious faculties of the human psyche." - Dancing Wayang. Limited to 300 copies. Includes the bonus disc.

After nearly a decade of false starts, multiple game plans veering off the rails, and a handful of shattered hopes and/or dreams, the odyssey is finally complete—the new Fusetron site is here.

This is the first phase of a multipart rollout that will span the next few months: the currently browsable stock includes miscellaneous new releases from the past 8+ months (we have a lot of catching up to do), plus approximately a third of our backstock. Note that we’ve reduced/slashed prices on many titles and will continue to do so in order to make room for new stock. We’ll also be expanding / tweaking / improving / debugging the site itself (for example, we still have work to do on the automated international postage system, not to mention the inevitable inventory discrepancies that come with transferring an ancient and massive database to a new system).

Over the next few months, as we take inventory, clean house, and delve into our storage, we will be uploading thousands of additional items, gradually, on a near-daily basis. This will include the majority of the LPs, as well as many titles, in all formats, once thought long-gone. Many currently “sold out” items are likely to resurface.

Finally, once our general backstock is up (probably in the next two or three months) we’ll begin making our extensive stockpile of rarities available online for the first time: tons of random out-of-print titles, "deadstock," warehouse finds, secondhand collectibles, etc., accumulated over the past few decades.

Frequent/returning customers will be getting early access to these items. Details to follow on how this will work (a priority mailing list? a 'frequent flyer'-like program?), but it will not be based on dollars spent. We want to reward those who consistently support us, especially in the discogs marketplace era (to those who show up trying to poach five copies of a one-off rarity, and nothing else, ever… ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ).

So—we suggest you take some time to dig through the site—even we’ve been surprised by what’s been turning up, and there’s much more to come.
