Allen and his trio also play in a style somewhat similar to that of Coleman's trio of that era with bassist \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cb\u003eDavid Izenzon\u003c\/b\u003e\u003cspan\u003e and drummer \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cb\u003eCharles Moffett\u003c\/b\u003e\u003cspan\u003e, though that's not to say that Allen, bassist \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cb\u003eMaceo Gilchrist\u003c\/b\u003e\u003cspan\u003e, and drummer \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cb\u003eTed Robinson\u003c\/b\u003e\u003cspan\u003e don't display a sound of their own on the four tracks here. In the years since, though Allen made only one other album (and that 15 years later), this LP acquired legendary stature among jazz fanatics. This is the first release in ESP-Disk's \u003c\/span\u003e\u003ci\u003erESPlica\u003c\/i\u003e\u003cspan\u003e series of limited edition CD reissues of some of the rarer items in its storied catalog. Each has been remastered by \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cb\u003eMichael D. Anderson\u003c\/b\u003e\u003cspan\u003e; in this case, as in most instances in the series, he was able to work from the original master tapes. All come in slipcases duplicating the original LP sleeves to the finest detail. This album has never before been reissued on CD in the United States, so this limited edition of 1000 should be in great demand.
