ASTRAL SOCIAL CLUB - #14
Culled from live shows in Paris and London during May 2007, this may be the most blasted ASC instalment yet. Not much room for subtle interplay or nuthin - more like Campbell isolated and boiled down all the most antagonistic and atavistic bits of his previous discography and served em up in one big throbbing heap. In Paris, blown-out Moroderisms melt into a gritty string and electronics meltdown, which in turn gives way to a hollering feral beat-up beat climax. The London gig, with Stool Man (aka Stewart Walden of durian durian" non-fame) on vocals and wild analogue synth, simulates alien pop radio transmitted through a million miles of warble and static, colliding with toxic holler and smashed-up pro-techno shudder. Its a high water mark of ASC dementia and wild beauty, no question. 8 tracks, 38 minutes. Edition of 150." - Astral Social Club.
