IMA - Now Again For The First Time

Intense Molecular Activity worked diligently in the background during the zenith of New York Citys visceral post punk and no wave movements. Recording as a duo, Don Hunerberg and Andy Blinx pain-stakingly wove together their own textured songs and soundscapes from 1979 to 1982. No outsiders to the scene, Hunerberg was a recording engineer at the legendary Radio City Music Hall Recording Studio working with Sonic Youth, the Ramones, Blondie, John Cale, Richard Hell and many others. Blinx was a drummer who also pioneered LED fashion accessories for Patricia Field, Maripol, Grace Jones, Bill Aucoin plus more.\r\nWhile bearing some comparisons to the likes of Suicide, Devo and Gary Numan, IMA looked beyond minimal synth/post punk stylistic trappings and hosed them down in wetly psychoactive sense deranging treatments" (MUTANTS SOUNDS Blog). IMA left behind only one EP, 4 tracks, on Flexi-Disc in 1980 that was independently produced and then distributed worldwide by 99 Records. The recording has since become a rare and hidden gem for die-hard record collectors around the world. Tracks from the Flexi-disc, and an additional eight from the archives, are heard here, now again for the first time." - Phon.
