A transatlantic quartet featuring three Chicagoans and a pianist from Holland, These Things Happen have, with a slight personnel shift (switching bassists from Joshua Abrams to Jason Roebke ), remained in existence since for more than a decade. This is the band's second release, following a recording made in 2016 (released by Astral Spirits in 2022), and it continues their dedication to the music of Misha Mengelberg and Thelonious Monk , as well as original material by Hoogland and Jackson.
